To start off, I don't see what the need is for an alt in such community... I don't really see a case use. They can perfectly fit in Bitcoin

Although information about Satoshi from back then might be really interesting, I don't think it would help trace him now. Whoever sold his information on the deepweb, if they actually sold and it was actually his information, made profit out of useless data

As said before, if the block sizes change, they won't be immediately filled up to the top, so the blockchain won't start to grow at a faster pace all of a sudden. But I do approve of new disks for nodes, it will make them future proof! That being said, I've also had bad experiences and bad feedback from Seagate. Maxtor isn't bad, but if you can go for WD, go for it. As for Hitachi, never used their drives, so I cannot vouch for them, but I've heard they have amazing drives

No, he shouldn't resign... What fiasco is the poll about? Are discussions about important issues such as Bitcoin's future and block size now a "fiasco"? That's like putting one's head in the sand when confronted with an issue...

balloons that are sent up in the stratosphere are usually used for weather studies and reports. why does a bitcoin related balloon is sent up there?
For blockchain storage and bigger decentralization, a way to have blockchain copies where it is hard for anyone to reach and destroy it, but still be connectable to the network... Making the blockchain more resilient I think this is a great idea. This + Garzik's plans will go far in the long run

The next is definitely our toasters mining Bitcoin what about those google glasses? they could be a nice tech for mining, but you need battery to power them
People say Google Glass gets a bit too warm sometimes in heavy usage. Bitcoin mining there would not only drain the battery in 5 minutes, but it would also make them unwearable

I guess it's a mix of lack of funding and general disinterest from the community. I never really saw many people who would adopt their system, although their work was quite big... Let's see if they are still motivated to develop this further.

Great news! Looking forward to receive my coins

Without this forum, Bitcoin would do pretty good, as it is doing now...
If this closed down (I hope it never closes) another forum would surely pop up!

I'm interested in the impact that a major "dump" by bitpay would have in the market. Are there any recent or real time values of bitpay's volume?
I remember reading a while back that they had quite a bit of volume... Enough to push the market down quite a lot.

It would definitely be amazing to open the client and have an alert from Satoshi...

I don't see what the big deal is with changing the maximum block size.
Why all the fuss ? It's not like blocks which are currently on average about half the current maximum size will suddenly and inexplicably jump in size overnight just because it's possible.
So just because blocks will not jump overnight makes it not important to think about changing block size?

I think this increases some problems (like block propagation) and raises order problems (would all the blockchains reach consensus? would people take advantage of locations with less transactions so they could broadcast with a smaller, or no fee at all?) I'm not a tech pro, but this is what comes to mind It will probably raise less problems just switching to 20mb blocks.

Soon we'll be able to flee our respective countries by spending Bitcoin instead of fiat Talk about a perfect escape, huh?

Seems that maybe you have some insider info, care to share? We're reaching a stage in which a huge amount of money is needed to mvoe markets throughout exchanges, and where manipulation occurs everyday... I'm not sure those guys could "pump" and "crash" Bitcoin so easily...

This is quite the idea... It has definitely some legs to run the long run.
What bothers me is really how to implement it... I'm also not knowledgeable in code, but the pool seems a pretty complex thing to setup. The funds would have to reside in an address. Who would hold such private key?

Good news, always amazing to have big companies accept Bitcoin!
Not big enough for me to know - in the past. Today this company (TAR Airlines) finally reached my ear (I mean.. eye - reading). Thus, this is company become one of the biggest company I know accepting Bitcoin as payment. I really hope to see a Airline which accept Bitcoin only. However.. this will need Bitcoin to be stable. Thus.. more than a hundred years before my this come true. Never heard about it either, but I assume an airline, even if small, is quite a big company with a good measure of investors. The fact that we do not know most of the "local" airlines, that doesn't mean they're not big

Is everyone in this thread trolling or are people really that stupid?
People are really this stupid. And probably also mega trolls. Sorry - you got it wrong. There won't be two chains! There will just be bitcoinCore and bitcoinXT - both on the same chain!. Ever how many coins you have now, you'll have the same amount of both types. One will become worthless (bitcoin core) the other will be valuable same as you know it today.
But if you hurry and load bitcoinXT today, you'll double your coins because they will both be worth something for a while longer. Only the people who wait - don't double their coins.
Anyone want to buy some bitcoinXT - I've got a shitload available. I sold all the bitcoinCore already (for $195!) - suckers! Those are going to be worth nothing soon. Don't wait.
If both are the same chain, they are both the same coin. Nobody doubles Bitcoins out of thin air. You are still in time to correct yourself and search about this topic: there's plenty of information around. No need to spread things that are not true. Also, thank you for selling your "BitcoinCore coins", leave them for those who truly understand Bitcoin, the blockchain and its implications
