Both would be preferable; the physical copy is great for spreading around IRL, anyway Grin  Give them out at events and such.  Something to exist in the physical realm.  Then the PDF would probably be spread for free by anonymous members of the interwebs so I wouldn't get my hopes up on the digital copy bringing in a whole lot of cash Undecided

True. However, we need to cover our operational cost somehow but, for sure,  we will make our catalog accessible for poeple as much as we can.

True true.  I'll send some coins your way when I can Smiley

2904  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt. Gox reopens in 1 hour. Predictions? on: April 12, 2013, 01:10:43 AM
Everyone sells their Bitcoin.

The value plumets to negative values.

Investor-noobs go insane and start mass riots.

The world economy collapses and the zombie apocalypse is finally realised.

Mt. Gox starts trading in rifles, ammo and food... due to incompetence they lose everyone's resources...

I found this hilarious.  Thank you sir.

it only makes sense if you read it in a Jamaican accent.

Oddly enough, you're right!  lol

The Bob Marley pic actually helps alot Grin
2906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why bitcoin is poised to change society much more than the Internet did on: April 12, 2013, 01:01:49 AM
Excellent article!  Exactly how Bitcoin applies to people and future societies; not the economics of it, but the actual, living aspects which will shape our lives.

Sent it to my brother, and probably will send it to everyone else I know; would sure save me a half hour of trying to explain it.
2907  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Breaking the Chains on: April 12, 2013, 12:47:21 AM
Well written OP, thanks for this Grin

I'm completely on-board with what you're saying; I wonder how the statist feels, though.
2908  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people in USA fear socialism so much? on: April 12, 2013, 12:01:37 AM

and liberalism rob people of their home, if they can't pay the bills...

No, government and the central bank screwed over the market by messing around with interest rates which resulted in the impoverishment of many and the enrichment of a few.  Which is what always happens in any kind of central planning system.

Spot on Grin

If, people were content to work solely within the currency they wouldn't even see a problem. The problem came from people wanting to exchange one currency for another. Nothing about bitcoin implies simple, safe exchanging between currencies.

That's what I'm saying.  As long as Bitcoin is tied to fiat, it's grounded to the floor.  Once we're able to shed it of government influence, the sky's the limit.

Just...how does it happen?  I don't think it's a technical issue, as much as it is a change that must occur at home.

It can't happen. whether something is considered a currency or a commodity is determined by the buyer. The only way to disconnect from fiat currency is to refuse to exchange. But, how many miners would continue to mine if they could not exchange for their local currency?

You're right.  They'd have to be able to buy everything they'd ever need with Bitcoin, thus making the exchange needless.  I don't see this happening for a long time, but, I do see it happening someday.
2911  Economy / Economics / Re: Imaginary interview with Satoshi in 2016 on: April 11, 2013, 11:56:20 PM
2016?  Is Satoshi running for president?

I'd vote for him Grin
2912  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Oh, the stress...Can anyone relieve it? on: April 11, 2013, 11:54:41 PM
Huh?  So he needs transport money?

Well, we could send Bitcoin, but it might take longer for you to cash out from BTC than the week Tongue  So it might not help if all you need is a bit in the short run until he gets his paycheck.  Best bet is to ask a neighbor or something to spot you.

2915  Economy / Economics / Re: Price stability is price control on: April 11, 2013, 11:43:51 PM
Good points Grin  Here's hoping BTC gains some more footing with businesses and becomes less volatile.  Heck, the dollar had it easy; get the whole nation on board and it becomes a lot more stable.  If BTC gains that kind of stability, it's smooth sailing.

Well, so I hope.  Wouldn't mind it if BTC would just steadily rise in value over the years, not over a few weeks Tongue
2916  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Call the btc price at the Mt Gox re-open here! on: April 11, 2013, 11:41:18 PM
I'm pretty sure it's going to float between 50 and 100.  And of course, steadily gain momentum again, hit thousands, crash, ad infinitum.

But what do I know Tongue
2917  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-11 blogs.reuters - Learn from bitcoin's mistakes - The promise of Ripple on: April 11, 2013, 11:38:47 PM
The number of posts for the giveaway is suspicious too, I'm guessing there's some wealthy socks there. I thought it was a debt sharing system so I'm kind of confused why its being touted as a cryptocurrency now too, by the sound of things it can no longer claim to be complimentary to Bitcoin but it if can get us over some of the problems exchanges are causing then it'll have its uses.

Most definitely.  If it ever comes out of beta and some real documentation comes out on how to use it, I'm hoping it catches on for tracking debts; the honor system is interesting, and could be the decentralized solution we're looking for.  But the currency part just throws everything out the window, and the fact that you need ripples to use the service completely ruins it.
2918  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-04-11 CNBC Squawk on the street on: April 11, 2013, 11:36:20 PM
People still listen to them?  I avoid the three sisters like plague.  Shame; they probably have a lot of viewers.  But I don't think they do.  I think most people aren't watching television news anymore, and opted for online sources (that aren't television related, anyhow.)

But I'm only making guesses Tongue
2919  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Put the "Peer" back into p2p on: April 11, 2013, 11:31:31 PM
What do think about Ripple? It seems interesting, though I think it's definitely going to take a bit more time for me to fully wrap my head around it. I like the ideas and the structure, though.

I've known about it since it was released for beta on here and I still don't quite understand what they're trying to do.

However, whatever it is they're trying to do, if it works, it should be a decent p2p exchange.  I hope.  The debt system is very interesting, to say the least; any form of cash in, any form of cash out.

OpenCoin is going to be giving away billions of Ripples for free, to anybody opening an account,

I wonder if people who believe that have ever wondered how OpenCoin will make sure nobody gets more than its share.

Some people will create hundreds of accounts just to get as many ripples as possible.   Those who can program will program bots to open these accounts.  So bots will require CPU and bandwidth.   So in a nutshell, the more computing resource you'll have, the more ripples you'll have.   Reminds anything?    Starting to see why it makes sense to distribute initial money based on CPU?   You can't avoid it.

Ripple is a great tool for decentralized exchange and payment system, but it sucks as a crypto-currency.

Yes, this, exactly this.  There's so many bots on the site sucking up every ripple that it's pointless to use them.  I don't even understand why ripple needs them; couldn't it have been a system to track debts, and leave the currency part out?
