302  Economy / Economics / Re: $900K worth of counterfeit U.S. currency seized on: January 30, 2020, 10:36:16 PM
Have to expect a few conspiracy theories designed to explain this.

Some will always see conspiracies everywhere they look.

The logic is simple though. There are always some who try to sell/use counterfeit money. And where's the cheapest to print such things? Yep, China.
There may be not even illegal there to print foreign currency - I mean it's another country, another legislation and so on. Of course it's illegal to get them into US. And that's what customs are for, after all...
All in all, no biggie.
Commendable logic, and a very plausible one, might I say.

Let's just "conspiracise" the whole thing for a second, I mean, even if those 900,000$ got into the US, it won't change shit. There's so much of legit and counterfeit money  mixed up in the US, it'll take ages to get those counterfeit notes dealt with. And the person who probably tried to get counterfeit from China, it would probably be some mid-tier drug dealer who just wants more money to make and sell drugs. ¯\_( ツ )_/¯
303  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins bans whole countries on: January 28, 2020, 03:45:52 PM
To whatever extent we can, we should all be building more liquidity on sites like LocalCryptos, Bisq and Hodl Hodl.

Just put up some offers -- what can it hurt? Other traders who normally take liquidity from LocalBitcoins and Paxful are surely hurting from their AML/KYC policies and are looking for alternatives. There is also an opportunity for market making here since it's a less crowded market: Maybe put offers on both sides.
I fully agree on what you say, liquidity can't be created from thin air, but from us rather. But usually when I trade, I want the trade to be dealt with in a matter of minutes, and I personally feel very anxious keeping my money on an exchange for days, especially after the bittrex mishap.

And also, there is 0 offers for my region in all these sites, and I don't know if I personally am willing to take the risk and try to create liquidity.

Need me some self-boosting confidence like that. Legit-ly.

But brub. good shit ayo, and oh did you pull an Obama on yourself.

But I definitely need a better alternative, localcryptos is very dead in my region. Ugh, I am so mad right now. Any suggestions???

Here's a nice list of LBC alternatives: https://old.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/dyclf8/list_of_bitcoin_persontoperson_p2p_bitcoin/

Unfortunately most of them aren't very active. If you're not in a hurry to make a trade, it makes sense to post some offers and take advantage of an opportunity to make more profit on a trade.

Yeah I found none of these helpful, and I am surprised that there aren't many offers in my region anymore, its quite technologically advanced and yet, the local crypto market is dying, even on LBC. Great!

It might be time to resort to paypal now, fucking hell, I hate that shit so much ,its just as bad as an exchange with forceful KYC, except Paypal is more reliable.
307  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins bans whole countries on: January 26, 2020, 09:15:57 PM
I am genuinely triggered by LBC, I loved that site for my trades, it was so smooth and convenient, an hour ago I log in to the site, and its not letting me deposit/withdraw/trade without having me to verify my address AND identity. Fuck that, I don't want any of that shit.

But I definitely need a better alternative, localcryptos is very dead in my region. Ugh, I am so mad right now. Any suggestions???

I am hating exchanges more and more by the day.
308  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie welcome video - 3rd video - Feedback on: January 24, 2020, 10:15:06 PM
Okay so this has taken me longer to get back into than I expected. I did decide in the end to begin with delving into the trust system and will go back to wallets and security later. I tried a few times with OBS and was finally able to improve my video quality but struggled to put the video together and edit it, so I went back to my other program. It's just a better fit for me. I haven't added in the links or done any timestamping with this video, I simply want to see what people think about the content and if there is anything missing or unnecessary added. @LoyceV

https://youtu.be/JpVi8yAV4qs - Feedback
I gotta say, your voice is amazing to hear to. Like I'd listen your podcast if you would ever have one, especially on crypto OH MY!

What was your issue with the obs? I have used obs and i have never got a problem. Also which software do you use for editing?

Also, do you record your video first, and then add voiceover?
309  Economy / Economics / Re: Stance on bitcoin's effect towards the Global Economy on: January 23, 2020, 11:57:52 PM
It is true that some countries are slowly but surely sinking into recession, but they still call it "a technical recession" (Italy), and another obvious example in the EU is Germany which reportedly escaped the recession with a meager growth of just 0.1% in third quarter, and as I said before, it barely hangs above the surface of the water.

The countries you mention (Venezuela, Zimbabwe) have always been in trouble, and the combination of internal political crises, sanctions and a slowdown in the world economy have only worsened the situation in these countries. It is my opinion that the USA could again be the trigger for a possible new global recession, the same as it was in 1929 or 2008. But at the same time S&P 500 Hits Record High, Boosted By Trade Progress And Strong Earnings which shows that things are not exactly what they seem, at least for the USA.
Its an interesting way to call "a technical recession", it somehow keeps their general public still in check, instead of creating a chaos. Its quite something, governments trying to come with terms that somehow convinces their general public to believe into something ridiculous as hell, as if they are in a sane world, while the reality is quite the opposite.

As for the US triggering the global recession, its very possible, a few breakthroughs won't stop what seems like the inevitable. I am just worried, no one is talking about this whole market which is clearly suffering, businesses are dying, banks are closing down, and tons of people are losing their jobs. I really do wonder what is going to happen, in a year or two, with this rate of increasing unemployment.

No one can say for sure what will happen to BTC in the event of a major global economic crisis, but the fact is that the whole thing is vulnerable in terms of infrastructure, and by that I mean crypto exchanges that are actually completely under the government's control. They can not kill BTC, but there is always an option to declare it illegal. I don't think that's a realistic option at this point, the total crypto market is actually pretty insignificant (less than $250 billion).
I can see governments declaring crypto illegal, especially in between of a crisis, cause that is when people will resort to going towards crypto, and its pretty much going to look like what China did, except on a global scale.

Where'd you get the info on the world being in a recession for years now? If you're talking about our debt, and things like that that's one thing, but the economy is growing and isn't in a recession right now.

Recession (Defined by Google) - a period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters.

People are always going to be talking about another recession when one happens. We've heard that another recession is coming for every year since 2008, and we're now in 2020 and there are no signs of a recession. The only talking points among people who think one is coming point to the China Trade Deal, other trade deal issues, etc.

Literally for the past 12 years, people have been hitting the alarm bells and saying that the RECESSION IS COMING and how you should pull your money out of your investments and such, people don't understand that in the traditional investments of stocks and bonds and all that you're going to be unable to time the market. Though I must say, a lot of this comes from my interest in traditional banking as well, so yeah.

But I do think that Crypto is going to be a force, but it's going to have to make itself EASY for people. The fiat on ramps have to be easy to work with, people have to have wallets that aren't hard to use, there has to be a USECASE for them, and things along those lines. We can't all just be speculating on Crypto going up, that doesn't help anyone and it doesn't improve adoption.
Here's the thing, even if we're not in a recession (yet), we are on a verge of one: https://www.forbes.com/sites/sergeiklebnikov/2019/10/28/here-are-the-countries-on-the-brink-of-recession-going-into-2020/#66402e663017

As for people pulling out of investments, its definitely a bad idea, cause even if we get into a recession, its not going to be there forever. However, with the awful state of the global market, where everything seems wobbly, its just becoming quite a headache to deal with ever changing dynamic market.

310  Other / Meta / Re: Board-specific signatures on: January 23, 2020, 02:27:17 PM
The idea is quite interesting actually, there could be some sort of auto-translator that automatically translates the signatures in the local board, instead of managers providing codes for each languages. Also, for the second point, it could be possible, I mean, there are boards that don't show the signature at all, so it is quite possible to change signatures as per the board.

Also, the dual signature thing could be linked based on the user rank, thus giving more perks for ranking up. Like that would be very interesting, or maybe its time we could have a new rank after legendary that helps with the dual signature thing. Also, theymos could also do something like what SEO does, but in terms of signatures. Like for example, in threads, the highest of ranks will have their posts shown first, and then by merit, etc. Just a suggestion.
311  Economy / Reputation / Re: Former Staff member Lauda has a pill addiction - *not disputed by lauda* on: January 21, 2020, 09:38:34 PM
As an update to this thread:

The information I received was from someone who I trusted at the time, but I have seen to bend and stretch the truth. A review of my other private conversations with this person reflects even more egregious examples of this, including examples of while I cannot affirmatively say is a lie, some representations are what I would consider to be dishonest. I am not going to comment on my source, as I previously told this person I would keep his identity secret, although some may guess based on semi recent forum events.

When I opened this thread, I took what this person said at face value and did not ask to see any underlying evidence. The claimed evidence was already shaky. For this I was wrong and I apologize.
Wow! That's very nice of you, QS, owning up to something that wasn't true. Gotta say, am proud, considering how everything has took place over the years.

Is this a slight hint implying there might be actual peace on this board? The never ending dispute between you and Lauda to its imminent end? Come now, both of you could just apologize to one another(regardless of who was right or wrong), and solve all the conflicts, and move on finally.
312  Economy / Economics / Re: Thoughts on the World War 3 and its possible impacts on future? on: January 21, 2020, 02:59:36 PM
Holy hell! I am so overwhelmed by some of the replies on both threads I made, and reading some interesting takes on the whole scenario, I will reply soon to some of the intriguing opinions soon.

Also, I am quite surprised that many of you think, another world war cannot happen. US has invested in Military and weaponry more than anyone else, why do you think that is the case? Why do you think North Korea has so many nuclear weapons? Its not for NOTHING, I will tell you that much.

Would people be interested in an online tool that makes tables (for BitcoinTalk) in a visual and more user-friendly way?
Like a table generator, say something like this: https://www.teamopolis.com/tools/bbcode-table-generator.aspx? Or the design aspect of how the table looks like, aesthetically, using some sort of a script perhaps?
314  Economy / Reputation / Re: Timelord2067 ad hominem, trolling, fud, accusations, fake flags, lies etc etc on: January 17, 2020, 11:56:25 PM
It somehow started here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5108783.msg49747436#msg49747436 but really began here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5108783.msg49762067#msg49762067 when I said that "I masturbated on his positive trust" and IIRC it escalated here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5112175.msg49859981#msg49859981.

I have tried to explain him that it was a bloody joke, I previously pointed what part of that post he should read because it was obviously misunderstanding but he didn't want to listen. Since then, whatever I say and he doesn't like, he use that thread as ad hominem attack. Not to mention trolling. After I don't know how many posts in known alts, scam accusations and PM's we shared, he said "link to walletexplorer" will assist you", well fuck you Timelord2067.

Yeah, I am all for "burying the hatchet", but Timelord2067 has to accept that it was a bloody joke first. He has to take that thing out of his head. Fucking prick, it was first positive feedback I got, I felt so proud and happy and stuff to receive that feedback because it came from known investigator.

But how can we bury hatchet, he thinks I am lauda, he doesn't like lauda therefore he doesn't like me any more. What is his proof actually? "Lauda was moderator in croatian local and marlboroza speaks croatian"! One can act for some time, but since 2016., FFS my and Lauda's English are, we have expression here, "sky and ground" (very different levels  Smiley)

Dude! In 2016. I sent many messages to Lauda because forum member U2 accused me of being alt of Egg.chuck scammer, I don't have those messages because I wiped PM's but Lauda might have them. Connection was made using bitvest.io wallet and all messages are deleted from Known alts thread, there was account Chris (please don't make me search for correct account nick, rather correct me) posted something, and lauda said something, and timelord2067 said something and I almost end up with negative, I texted bitvest owner zodiac and then he said few words and we all agreed to delete messages, unfortunately I wasn't aware of archive site so record does not exist. Well Timelord2067 obviously forget that! So how the fuck I know that?

Yeah, I am all for burring hatchets, but only if it involves other party.
I think if TimeLord got mad for the masturbate joke, out of everything else, its pretty wack.

The connection between you and Lauda makes no sense, its like as if you both are humans. But Lauda is a CAT! A FRIGGING CAT! Nullius can approve too!!!

But yeah no, as for burying the hatchet, send him a pm, apologize for the "mastubation joke" even though you shouldn't really be, and if things are still the same, just ignore and move on. Y'all don't have to waste too much time on a damn misunderstanding on a fucking joke. Like seriously, its like 4 years now.
315  Economy / Economics / Thoughts on the World War 3 and its possible impacts on future? on: January 17, 2020, 11:40:13 PM
So the whole thing started off as a meme on twitter, people were going crazy about it, the moment they heard news that Qasem Soleimani was killed by an US drone. At first, everything seemed all so scary, people were scared on how Iran would respond, and hell was breaking loose on the Streets or Iran. This goes two ways now, while Qasem Soleimani was a terrorist according to US, and has caused a lot of stuff in the past, some Iranians were still mad that US had murdered their major General, and they started chanting "Death to US" on the streets. On the other hand, many Iranians were happy that their General was dead. Now, how did Iran respond? They warned the US bases in Iraq that they were going to launch missiles 6 hours before they did, giving the US soldiers enough time to evacuate the base. And while this happens, Trump tweets: "All is well!"

Now to the US side of things: The entire US is confused and perplexed on why all this happened. The Trump administration claims that Qasem Soleimani posed an "Imminent threat" towards the US, and apparently, 4 of their embassies were at potential risk. Weirdly enough, this was not the case, according to the Defense Secretary, as to him: there was no sign of an "Imminent Threat" towards anything. And whilst all this, Iran "accidentally" shot down an Ukranian Passenger plane.

Politics all aside, nothing adds up. The US has been wanting Oil from Iran for years now, and this was somewhat of another failed attempt at it. Iran's tariffs are to be increased, and also, if things do go Haywire, Russia and China have Iran's back, they have held "Naval drills" in the Gulf of Oman.

Now considering all of this, how is an economy like Iran going to stand up against the US? And how is the possibility of another World War contribute towards the whole global economy? I am still intrigued on the possible outcomes of how a modern-ized war will affect the overall economy. Also, could it be possible for Trump's attack on Iran be more of an Economic move than just mere politics? Something has to be there, right?

Note: Don't spam.
316  Economy / Economics / Re: Stance on bitcoin's effect towards the Global Economy on: January 17, 2020, 10:19:21 PM
@pugman while there’re whispers that recession is coming among public and government officials no government in their right mind will openly announce that their country is under recession and that is the right way to tackle it. I’ll agree with you that 2020 did start on a scary note with a threat of Third World War coming, but that threat has passed away and now we should focus on more positive news.

The news I’m referring to is the phase 1 deal that has been signed between China and USA, and this shall help both the countries and global markets too that were hit by their disputes.

Overall there is hope that recession can be avoided, but for that to happen the government needs to take some bold measures now otherwise it’ll be too late.

Lastly if recession indeed strikes then bitcoins prices shall shoot upwards because of FOMO, and also the knowledge that it’s the only currency that can beat inflation and give solid returns in the long term.

Sources:

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/01/16/business/us-china-phase-1-trade-deal-details/index.html

https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/us-economic-recession-tracker/
The chinese trade-off with the US is not a bad start, their tariffs went down by 50%. Not everything is bad I suppose, eh?

Idk about bitcoin's price rising because of FOMO caused by recession, I mean, come to think of it, this was portrayed in the tv show Mr Robot, where the bank system failed, and credit cards became obsolete. So people were resorting to a centralized crypto launched by the main prevailing bank and cash(obviously). So, you never know, for all we know, Libra could save our lives just as much as bitcoin, had the whole global Economy had to fall.

Also, thanks for the bloomberg website, that was a cool statistic to look at!
I think most will agree that Bitcoin is not the ultimate solution to the economic problems that exist in the world today, it's just one alternative that is offered to anyone who wants to accept it. There is no global recession at the moment, some countries are experiencing bigger, some minor problems, but we are still holding ourselves above the surface of the water, although the world may sink at any time. As always, everything will depend on the great powers of the world, above all I mean the USA, UK, China, Russia, Japan which will be the main indicators in which direction the world is going. If the big ones start to fall, they will drag the others behind them, there is no doubt about that.

As for World War III, I personally think that everyone is trying not to make it happen because, given today's weapons, the First and Second World War would seem like a slightly larger firework. Nuclear, chemical and biological weapons can very easily send us back to the Stone Age, and therefore I believe that reason will prevail.

Crypto, and above all I mean BTC is quite a stranger in the global recession, although it originated at the beginning of one of them in 2009. The perception that people have about BTC is mainly as a store of value, so as such it would have its place in those assets that serve as a hedge against the loss of value of national fiat currencies, stocks, real estate. However, after only 10 years, I would say that we are in the phase of an experiment that is going on pretty well, notwithstanding the opinion that he had already shown failure (in case of adoption, price, high fees, a terrible effect on the environment) and other things that are cited as bad features.
Breaking your paras into points, first off, the country I currently reside in is, as a matter of fact, going through a recession, people are just scared of talking about it. As for other countries, wouldn't you agree countries like Zimbabwe, Venezuela are going through a recession too, or at least on the verge of it? The big dogs are soon enter, given this rate. If the big dogs fall, it would be quite interesting to see, who comes up on top, would it still be US or a potential new underdog.

The World War 3 started off as a meme on Twitter, Trump's administration still hasn't provided how "imminent" the attack on Qasem Soleimani was. I'm somewhat glad the crisis got averted, as Iran was showing no signs of holding back, the whole scenario is interesting, but stupid, from both parties. I think I will start a thread on this, I have read a lot on this fiasco of a war.

The whole concept of crypto is actually weird, in case of a massive outfall of an economy, using crypto might actually just make things worse. Crypto is still VERY vulnerable in terms of how the platforms are, mobile transactions can easily be hacked onto, and it could make the outfall only more worse.
317  Economy / Reputation / Re: Timelord2067 ad hominem, trolling, fud, accusations, fake flags, lies etc etc on: January 17, 2020, 08:54:11 PM
Timelord has been known to accuse the randomest of people as alts, and his obsession of linking accounts is very perplexed in nature. But then again, timelord has also also been successful in busting a lot of alts, so I wouldn't say he deserves a negative feedback perse. My initial response would be to resort to solving the issue/quandry in private, and settling down the "beef". But I am not sure, if it would work in this case, its quite possible for more allegations and more drama that could come out of this, so, like suchmoon said, its best if both of you ignore each other, and go your ways.
318  Economy / Economics / Stance on bitcoin's effect towards the Global Economy on: January 16, 2020, 10:12:39 PM
I have said this before, and I will say it again, the existence of bitcoin or crypto alone won't help a failing economy. Nonetheless, given how the whole World is going through a recession for years now, and also living in widespread ignorance that recession isn't here yet, rather, its coming in the near future. The World is at its brink of an economic collapse, the global debt is increasing by the day, AND we are, or at least we were almost on the verge of another World War, and 2020 just hasn't gotten to a very solid start people were expecting.

With that said, I wanna hear constructive opinions/predictions/speculations, on how things are gonna end up by the end of this year, and this decade. How is the GDP gonna get affected by everything happening, how are countries going to survive recession, and what is to say that we won't suffer through the Great Depression Phase 2? And most importantly, how is crypto going to come out of this?

Edit: I forgot to self-mod this topic, so if you spam, I will report you, and get the post deleted.

According to TOAA, they're not the same person, but of course in reality they are.

TOAA is NOT Bruno. No chance in hell. Take it from someone who knows Bruno personally that they're not the same person. Bruno never disappeared -- he was quite active in my BSV Scam Accusation thread as Phinnaeus Gage until very recently.

Also, Bruno doesn't have a grudge against the forum. Just certain moderators. He also feels his tags for account sales are unjust, and it was discouraging for him. Kind of knocked the wind out of his sails. After having been a scambuster for 6 years and receiving no compensation for it in the process, he doesn't feel he has anything to gain from continuing to post here, given that busted scammers were harassing him and his family, trying to make his life difficult in any way they could.

Please, don't compare Bruno to this useless asscrack.
I can confirm on this, Bruno is definitely not TOAA/Cryptohunter. I have spoken with Bruno on Pm and on telegram, and he definitely doesn't sound like TOAA. Also, bruno has weird/distinguishable humor, while TOAA can't handle any form of humor. It sucks what happened with Bruno, but TOAA is just a full-blown retard.

Also, as for banning TOAA, wasn't anonymint banned for excessive trolling?? Or am I wrong? That thing is so old, I can't remember.

But if anonymint was banned for trolling, can't TOAA be banned too? I mean,to be fair, he has broken rules several times.
