The real enemy of the USA is China, They have the ambition to conquer the world since the beginning. I would prefer to be ruled by an american than by a greedy chinese. Chinese lust for wealth has no end. Five to ten years from now china will have bigger economy than USA. China military budget will become bigger while USA will become smaller in proportion to time.
I think you could replace US with China in there and it would still be true; except for the "real enemy" part, which I don't think anyone really believes in. Either way, except for maybe a few exceptions, every country is as ambitious as it "thinks" it can get away with. |

I have a question in relation to payments:
I'm not sure, but I think a thread I posted on some time ago was deleted, and my posts along with it; I assume that brought down my total post count. Now considering all the affected posts were from before I started on this program, does this affect payment at the end of the month in any way?
So for example, let's say:
I had 50 posts when I joined this campaign;
during the initial month, 10 of my posts are deleted, but all of these are posts from before joining the campaign;
I go on to make 60 posts in that month, so ending with 100 posts (110 total - 10 previous that were deleted).
Would I be paid for the 60 posts that I did in that month (none of which were deleted), or would I be paid for only 50? (perhaps due to the approach of 100 ending posts - 50 that I had originally started with)

Hmm, a couple of possibilities that I haven't seen mentioned: A rogue star; similar in notion to a rogue planet, a star that was somehow ejected from its original galaxy or is in the process of being ejected. If one were to pass close enough to disturb the Oort Cloud, we could be looking at an increase of objects thrown in towards the inner solar system. A vacuum metastability event; the idea that we live in a false vacuum, which could at any point in time decay into true vacuum. A quote from a paper, which Wikipedia mentions: The possibility that we are living in a false vacuum has never been a cheering one to contemplate. Vacuum decay is the ultimate ecological catastrophe; in the new vacuum there are new constants of nature; after vacuum decay, not only is life as we know it impossible, so is chemistry as we know it. However, one could always draw stoic comfort from the possibility that perhaps in the course of time the new vacuum would sustain, if not life as we know it, at least some structures capable of knowing joy. This possibility has now been eliminated.

It's definitely an overkill. Especially that with the other browsers You can set them to inform You of a new update being available, or turn off updates completely
Well, that was only if you really, really wanted to use Chrome for some reason...  but I agree; for that and a few other reasons I ended up choosing Firefox when I moved out of Opera. |

I was using Firefox and then Chrome, currently Opera. What annoys me the most in Chrome is the lack of information as to when the updates are being made
Well, if it really annoys you, you could use something like Comodo and force it to alert you each time the updater tries to run. That is however, probably overkill... |

We aren't talking about formal sciences here, but natural sciences; as such, the theory of evolution is as "proven" as one of these can be: you can make observations, predictions and repeat experiments with predictable results. But that isn't to say it won't undergo changes as new knowledge is acquired. Out of curiosity, do you also refuse to take medicine when you're sick? Because chemistry is also a natural science... As for the movie you link, their main (but by no means only) fallacy is "god of the gaps". Here's a quote from Wikipedia for it: God of the gaps is a type of theological perspective in which gaps in scientific knowledge are taken to be evidence or proof of God's existence. The term was invented by Christian theologians not to discredit theism but rather to point out the fallacy of relying on teleological arguments for God's existence.[1] Some use the phrase to refer to a form of the argument from ignorance fallacy.
As you can see, even theologians don't rely on it. |

They probably want the positive publicity associated with it, but are either powerless to carry through with it or unwilling to do so... after all, it would cost them money to put up a real fight. Also, they have probably seen what happened to the few companies that tried that already.  Still it is good news that they are at least giving a fight on it. The NSA is not having everything as easy as they had earlier. Their reputation is tarnished as a result of the revelations by Snowden, and the public is against them. You're right, it is good news. And the companies feeling they have to at least pretend to care means they're afraid of what it could do to their bottom line if they don't. I guess what I was trying to say is we shouldn't put too much trust in them nonetheless, and we should continue looking for alternatives, as much a possible; after all, the information being kept by them is still accessible through other means by the NSA or other "competent" third parties. |

This is just is more evidence of my theory that government employees suffer from a severe case of paranoia and are convinced the world is out to get them, if people wanted to do all the things they're scared of they would have attempted it already and they'd all be dead.
