3101  Other / Meta / Re: List of Inactive Mods (Last seen a long time ago), do we need replacements ? on: December 12, 2022, 08:20:45 PM
Noticed that there are a few mods who are inactive since quite some time in the forum. Do we need to recruit new mods?
I don't think we need more moderators, but it's best if they con confirm that and say if they need more help or not.
More than adding new mods we need more volunteer members for reporting spam and worthless posts.

I didn't have a look at the mods on local boards, if you have more you can list below..
Croatian board moderator was removed and never returned, even after we asked for new one several times, but we can survive without him for now Wink
3102  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: December 12, 2022, 01:28:10 PM

3103  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Kako besplatno dobiti (ili zaraditi) Bitcoin ? on: December 12, 2022, 01:04:46 PM

EDIT:
Još jedna ok serija sa Neflix-a, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area.
3105  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers on: December 10, 2022, 08:36:36 PM
In case you are in a doubt, you can always apply grese on the washers in case you live close to the coastline. That will add a few more decades life of the washers in case of tsunami, or you can hide them in a water too.
Other than oil, there is also paint that is used specially for protection against rust.
I even saw some examples of users who created painted DIY bitcoin stainless seed washers.

Why not just submerge them in oil? It won't matter if the container isn't perfectly sealed, no air can reach the metal.
That's a good idea, because oil and water doesn't mix at all, and even putting them in grease or fat would work just fine.
Titanium is great, and I think someone said that washers from titanium exist,  but they are much more expensive.

Wax would probably also work well. And hide what they are. Get a candle mold, put the stack in, make the candle with a wick and put it on a shelf. Decorative candle that holds your seed phrase in an airtight way. Odds are a thief is not going to go after a candle on a shelf if you happen to get robbed.
Works 100%.
I know people who are using bee wax for securely sealing containers.
3106  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: If hardware lost can i access my crypto on: December 10, 2022, 08:28:03 PM
If I loose my safe pal crypto hardware wallet, from the PVT key I have, can I recover the crypto using the Trustwallt software wallet or the safe pal software wallet?
You need seed words from your safepal wallet and in theory you would be able to recover that in any other wallet that supports same BIP format and derivation paths like safepal.
I wouldn't recover anything in software hot wallets, and in case I would than I would consider this keys to be compromised.
I don't like anything about safepal, so I personally wouldn't use this wallet for storing larger amount of coins.
3107  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Privacy Questions: Public Servers, TOR, VPN, etc. on: December 10, 2022, 08:15:33 PM
If you want to use Bitcoin with more privacy, use Bitcoin + multi altcoin Coinomi desktop wallet from British Virgin Islands - www.coinomi.com - they use their own servers and have only network fees. Plus they have built in exchange and debit card support for crypto buying.
I don't know what British Virgin Islands has to do with privacy, since Coinomi is closed source, doesn't have built in Tor support, and it uses centralized third parties for exchanging coins.
Nobody asked for multicoin wallets here, but  I think Unstoppable.money wallet is much better for that purpose and it has Tor support with exchange.

PS
Please STOP spamming other topics with Coinomi promotion!
3108  Other / Meta / Re: bitcointalk forum vs OpenAI - ChatGPT on: December 10, 2022, 08:05:44 PM
I have changed my opinion. I think ChatGPT will fit in here just fine and will be in DT1 and a merit source within weeks.
Maybe even a moderator and could replace theymos in future! Cheesy
Seriously, this stuff is free only because people who are using it are feeding it information, training it and they are making it look good better than it actually is.
Some people even suggested that all the g-captchas we are clicking all the time is also doing that, teaching some dumb program to repeat stuff based on our actions.
3109  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bestchange keeps scammer exchangers and probably collaborates with them on: December 10, 2022, 06:48:42 PM
BestChange needs competition. There's KYC? Not me!, but it still lists several of the same exchangers and doesn't have the marketing budget to promote it.
As far as I know Kycnot.me is not taking any percentage earnings from listing any exchanges and services on their website, it's open source project and anyone can contribute and post suggestion.
BestChange is commercially oriented service and I am sure they earn something from every exchange that is listed, even if that was never officially confirmed.
I would also like to see someone stepping up to be real competition for BestChange, that would also make them try to improve and be better.

PS
Kycnot.me does accept donations in BTC and XMR:

3110  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [ANN] [DISCUSSION] Not your keys, not your coins test on: December 10, 2022, 06:36:58 PM
The fact that there is a Raspberry Pi shortage, and that most people use inkjet printers... this is not a viable DIY method.
I don't know what model of RaspberryPi you are using, but you could consider some alternatives and Rpi clones or ESP32 devices.
As for printers, maybe cheap thermal printers could be used for single notes, but problem with them is that stuff printed with them usually fades in time.
Used laser printers can also be found cheap starting from $40, unless we need some special kind for printing this notes.
3111  Economy / Reputation / Re: Problem on Logo Design Order on: December 10, 2022, 06:19:54 PM
I would like to ask, if he still keeps insist to order me creating the ANN without additional cost on it, or doesn't pay the logo, is it harsh to put negative feedback on his profile? I know it's normal to sue a company who steals our work, but I'm not sure about a company that does not paying something they don't need although they ordered it before. I just don't want to ruin the reputation of some company without solid proofs and prosecutes.
He (or they) obviously didn't follow initial agreement and deal you made with him, so you could give him negative feedback for that and for wasting your time.
It's very amateurish for him to say that he create logo himself, so I would sure like to know about that information when dealing with casino or company like this in future.
Even neutral feedback with this info and link to this page would be good to have, and let them build their own reputation.
3112  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak on: December 10, 2022, 11:49:19 AM

Uskoro dolaze neki filmovi koje želim pogledati a jedan od njih je i Avatar The Way of the Water.
3113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Help]Bitcoin Wallet Security on Windows on: December 09, 2022, 07:11:48 PM
What’s the best AV or software that can help me to determine if my desktop is already infected by Malware.
There is no antivirus software that will protect you from all malware in windows os, and it's more likely you will get a bunch of false warnings all the time.
My suggestion is to backup your important data,  totally format your hard drive, and than install some Linux OS like Fedora or Debian for example, or at least make a dual boot with Linux.
This way you won't have to worry about any malware, and you will have much safer operating system, since most malware is made for windows.
3114  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Any Active Mobile Wallet for C-Lightning? on: December 09, 2022, 04:14:01 PM
And LND is developed and maintained by Lightning Labs! Cheesy
World Economic Forum Lightning Labs, you know. Wink
Hmmm I didn't know that (or I forgot), and they sure have to put they fingers everywhere, like they did with FTX and ethereum, so it's hard to avoid them.
Maybe there are some other alternatives for LND and Core Lightning, but I didn't heard about them.

I just went through https://www.lightningnode.info/comparison and didn't find a 'good reason everyone switched to LND' you mentioned.
That was just simple comparison, and I think you answered yourself what that ''good reason'' is when you mentioned wef-lnd in previous post Wink
There is probably more money and funding there, at the moment.
3115  Other / Archival / Re: [BIG LIST] Crypto Debit Cards on: December 09, 2022, 03:53:25 PM
I've just read about an anonymous VISA card reloadable with crypto - USDT, USDC, ETH and some tokens
Now they are claiming there is a delay for issuing new cards, but it sure looks stupid to support all this shitcoins and nft crap, and skip adding Bitcoin.
I am also not sure how this can be called anonymous when I have to open US account with my name, email and phone number, unless I use temporary or disposable phone number and random name.
Zelf website also looks scamish and they have weird .gg domain, so I would be very careful with this and not load more money than you are willing to lose.
3116  Economy / Exchanges / Telegram DEX exchange? on: December 09, 2022, 03:27:37 PM
I recently heard that Telegram CEO Durov said they are working on creating Decentralized Exchange and crypto wallets, after they started to accept account registration without phone number.
This DEX exchange will probably be built on top of their Telegram Open Network, but I can't find any reliable information about this.
Durov criticized FTX exchange heavy centralization, and he is calling for trustless transactions and self-hosted wallets without single third party that controls everything.
Telegram exchange would be a big game changer if done correctly, and I have some doubts about this project, but we sure need more usable DEX options,

I am posting here a full post from Durov official telegram channel, and this topic wil lbe used for posting any updates for this exchange:

Quote
The blockchain industry was built on the promise of decentralization, but ended up being concentrated in the hands of a few who began to abuse their power. As a result, a lot of people lost their money when FTX, one of the largest exchanges, went bankrupt.

The solution is clear: blockchain-based projects should go back to their roots – decentralization. Cryptocurrency users should switch to trustless transactions and self-hosted wallets that don't rely on any single third party.

We, developers, should steer the blockchain industry away from centralization by building fast and easy-to-use decentralized applications for the masses. Such projects are finally feasible today.

It took only 5 weeks and 5 people including myself to put together Fragment  (https://fragment.com/)– a fully decentralized auction platform. We were able to do this because Fragment is based on The Open Network, or TON – a blockchain platform that is fast and efficient enough to host popular applications (unlike Ethereum, which unfortunately remains outdated and expensive even after its recent tweaks).

Fragment has been an amazing success, with 50 million USD worth of usernames sold there in less than a month. This week, Fragment will expand beyond usernames.

Telegram's next step is to build a set of decentralized tools, including non-custodial wallets and decentralized exchanges for millions of people to securely trade and store cryptocurrencies. This way we can fix the wrongs caused by the excessive centralization, which let down hundreds of thousands of cryptocurrency users.

The time when the inefficiencies of legacy platforms justified centralization should be long gone. With technologies like TON reaching their potential, the blockchain industry should be finally able to deliver on its core mission – giving the power back to the people.

3117  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Keystone....Well I didn't want to post it but here it is. on: December 08, 2022, 10:01:03 PM
Now Keystone looks bad for something that could have been handled with a better glue and a security hologram that, to be blunt, didn't suck.
Like I said, Trezor is using heavy glue for their packaging and I personally don't like this and I don't think this makes hardware wallets safer in any way.
Imagine if smartphones you buy or anything else comes with boxes like this that need to be destroyed, for me that would be very annoying.
But you can make suggestion to Keystone developers to work on improving this for their new model, and I think new model is going to come out in 2023 Wink

Maybe someone could talk more about other hardware wallets, but I think that ledger, passport, coldcard and others also don't have super strong glue used with ''safu'' packaging.
3118  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Devices 'Passport Batch 2' hardware wallet review on: December 08, 2022, 09:48:23 PM
I personally find airgap using microSD cards very impractical; less practical than USB wallets even, since I more likely have a microUSB cable with me than a microSD card reader.
You know that you can easily buy cheap microSD to USB adapter for few bucks?
Just insert SDcard and you will have double functionality, that looks and works the same way as regular USD stick.

The addition of a camera and a larger screen would be a worthwhile improvement for the Mk5.  Wink
Are they really working on new Coldcard Mk5 model or this is only wishful thinking?
I think I saw someone asking them this question recently and I they said something like, dude we just released Mk4 and you are already asking as for new model Cheesy
But let's be honest, market of hardware wallet is evolving quickly and if they don't keep up they could soon be irrelevant for most people, except maybe geeks, and that can be said for all other hardware wallets.
3119  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Any Active Mobile Wallet for C-Lightning? on: December 08, 2022, 09:21:12 PM
Would you care to elaborate?
Here is quick comparison table posted below, but in essence Core Lightning is developed and maintained by Blockstream and some people could have issue with that.
I am not saying Core Lightning is bad but there is much more things built on top of LND at the moment, however you can use anything you like more.
There are pros and cons for both of them, and Core Lightning is much better if you have low spec hardware for your node.

3120  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: December 08, 2022, 09:11:50 PM
Really love the Wasabi project.
Is there any chance to get a proper Android version of this wallet anytime soon?
I don't think Wasabi will release mobile version soon, and only similar mobile alternative is Samourai Wallet but they have their own issues.
You can connect Wasabi with hardware wallets and I think that Trezor will enable coinjoin transactions is near future, so maybe this would be a way to get around mobile support.
Mobile wallets are fine but I would only use them for pocket money and quick spending amounts of Bitcoin.
