321  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: January 12, 2020, 09:23:04 PM
Payments for this week have been sent. (c0d028978ea85cf1449827004388700e0ce3514b8c9d7acaf387c336d51b72c5)

Full disclosure: I have not received additional escrow funds from ChipMixer, so this was paid out of pocket. I fully expect to receive an escrow refill very soon, and I'm guessing they were busy with holidays. However, future payments may be delayed indefinitely if I do not receive funds.
Oh damn, thanks for that!! I alongside, Steamtyme wouldn't mind returning back whatever i got paid, I care about more the gesture than the money itself. Smiley Also, I don't think any of us participants would have a problem with delayed payments, do whichever is more feasible and viable for you. DS, you're truly amazing!

A few days ago I became a father for a second time. Its a boy this time and...
I want to ask DS_ if it's possible to share my earings for next two weeks between the participants in the campaign.
I can't invite you to celebrate together, at least i can try to buy you guys a beer Wink

I'll try to stay productive as usual. (not enough sleep for sure)
Love you guys... Smiley
Oh my goodness! Congratulations, iasenko! You're quite the lucky father, and your son is very lucky to have you as your father, without a doubt. You could teach him how to use bitcoin and other cool stuff, which I lowkey wish someone had taught me when I was young. This is such wonderful news, people don't really open up about their personal life here, but this is very welcome, and is wholesome.
322  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything you wanted to know about BTC options but were afraid to ask! on: January 10, 2020, 11:57:40 PM
Dude this is amazinnnngggg!! Its a very good, elaborated and a very neat explanation of options. I didn't read through all the practical thingies you wrote, cause it will fuck with my brain, and thanks for the heads-up cause I am never gonna trade options cause it is definitely not something I would want to risk my money into. But the concept in general isn't quite so bad.

You did a phenomenal job in explaining the meaning of what options are, and how they work. Its not everyday where you see proper threads with proper explanations here on bitcointalk.

I am still a little confused about the whole thing, I like understood it for a minute, and went like, wait hold on a minute, "How, what, HUH?" and its full Chinese noodles in my head :/

I am gonna read the whole thread again, for a hopeful better understanding. Seems interesting, not gonna lie.
323  Economy / Economics / Re: Question about inflation and debt. on: January 10, 2020, 11:45:35 PM
If a random country is in debt, is printing money a good way to pay it off at the expense of the citizens?

For example, lets say you owe an entity $100. If you print an extra $100 bill you pay off your debt, but unbeknownst to the entity the $100 that they lent you is now worth less.

Would the barter system be a good way of combating this?
Not really, no. US follows this to a larger extent, since their debt keeps exacerbating by the second, and one of the many things they do to try tackle it, is print more notes. It doesn't help the situation whatsoever, rather it escalates it to a much worse scenario. The money in the market increases, yet there's no return of that money in the hands of the government. Most people don't pay the taxes, and the factor of Rich get richer, and poor get poorer comes into play.  Printing more money only weakens the economy, not otherwise. Even if you try to print the equivalent amount of notes to the amount of global debt, it still won't make a difference. What will rather happen is, it will fuck up the demand and supply of the global economy, and things will go back to the same. Fair possibility is, the value of 1$ now, will be equivalent to value of 1000$ if more notes enter the economy.

How will Barter System help? It won't work even in an ideal world, let alone in a worsened imperfect world. Barter system's lack of providing the right value to the good/service was one of the main reasons it failed. The only way I see barter system coming back is through pure form of desperation, when the recession is killing the world and printed notes won't work. This was portrayed beautifully in Mr. Robot, where the whole corrupt banking system went down, and people had to resort to using crypto, and it was a catastrophe struck and no one saw it coming.
324  Other / Meta / Re: How about a merit faucet / puzzle? on: January 10, 2020, 10:17:53 PM
Its not that the idea itself is entirely bad, there is just severe lack on interest on this forum. I tried starting a Q/A thread for people, it worked a little well at start, then I just started getting answers from the same few people, or from newbies who weren't willing to put *noticeable* effort into the posts, so I eventually gave up. Its kinda the same thing you're proposing. It just died, eventually.

I dont think there's a lack of merits, its that people who usually give merit, give it to the regulars, because hunting for newbies has never gone too well. Jet Cash tried so hard, so so hard, and it sucks how it went. I don't think the community has to try this hard for newbies to earn merit. People who like this place will eventually earn merit. Also, people tend to mistake that if someone doesn't have good english, they won't get merit, which is kinda false, cause I am aware of so many users who have moderate English get more merit than posters with better English.
325  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers on: January 07, 2020, 11:22:29 PM
New managers need to earn their rep I think much like anyone does here before they're entrusted with things, but if a manager has demonstrated that they can successfully run a few campaigns with minimal to no spam and that's identified by the community then I think they should be considered for inclusion. I think it would be unfair for new people not to be added but at the same time I don't think anyone should be put on it much like a list of escrows. People earn their reputations by good work over time but it quickly becomes clear who is reputable for what.
Along side this, I also feel like a new upandcoming manager has more chances of making rookie mistakes, like sending incorrect payments to the participants, and many others that other managers have made in the past. The problem isn't with the mistake itself, everyone makes mistakes, its more about how a manager handles a situation. Like, I remember this one instance specifically, where yahoo was managing this campaign, and he was a little late(I believe it was a matter of few hours), where yahoo was out with his IRL friends, and had got drunk which lead to the delay in payments, and people started causing so much drama and bs, up until yahoo came online and solved the whole mess and explained it.

Well they're certainly not as plentiful as they used to be. They'll come and go though, but as long as bitcoin/crypto is here then there will be new companies popping up and this is still a great way to advertise.
Definitely, maybe the future holds more signature campaigns for the forum. Maybe the new forum will show up, who knows.

I meant one person running multiple campaigns and taking on more than they can handle. One person probably can't effectively run multiple campaigns with hundreds if not thousands of users on and I think that just leads to sloppyness.
Touché. And that is actually what I meant as well, but I ended up typing it wrong, my apologies.

He completed two campaigns in a month's time, everything went smoothly, I favor if he was added to your list, and removed a few people who are no longer working here. izanagi narukami and notaek don't seem to be managing operations on any other campaigns for a long time
I don't care if a manager hasn't managed in a while, I care about how good a manager is. I have nothing against coolcryptovator, like I said, I will add him in the near future.

I agree with your thoughts, but obviously no few manager rejects another campaign, even if they are managing multiple campaigns at the same time, if someone needs them, they still accept a new campaign. This is also an aspect to assess a manager's ability.
No, that's not a manager. That's a pimp.

Also read what SFR10 said above.

326  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LocalCryptos: An alternative to Paxful & Localbitcoins on: January 03, 2020, 09:27:29 PM
I just played around the site for a while, and all in all, its actually not so bad. I like the feature of how they allow you to trade bitcoin for any(available) currency from the list of countries, and not just one, cause LocalBitcoins only allows transaction based on your location. They also allow Crypto to paypal trades, bank deposit, gift card, venmo, and a few more which is actually good. Heck, even weChat pay is allowed.

This might very soon be a better alternative to LBC if more users start using the site. I might use this probably from now on. Thanks for this @OmegaStarScream.
327  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers on: January 02, 2020, 11:59:19 PM
He has managed a few 1 week campaigns with minimum participants mostly. He is doing well to start so far.
I did notice that, he has done good job so far, although I feel like he's still somewhat new to this scene, so I am just a tad-bit hesitant, temporarily. I will add him soon, if he keeps up his amazing etiquette.

Sometimes delayed payments are not always a managers issue, it could be due to the company delaying payments. Not usually the case as most of us get the payment up front normally, but myself for example, Bitsler owner went on vacation and I delayed a payment a few weeks back waiting for them to send the pay for the week.

Sometimes things happen. Long as it is not an abnormal delay, like a manager disappeared or something like that, then this scenario usually won't happen nor will it harm anyone's rep.
Absolutely, managers are still humans, and while many idiots fail to understand that, sometimes, somethings are inevitable, and even the most perfect of managers get stuck in places. But that is okay, this thread serves as a place where newcomers can read, and understand who they are getting in business with, and to also give them some sort of confidence that they are not putting their money in the wrong hands.

I think it should depend on whether they're still available or not. Maybe a PM to some of the less-active ones every once in a while to see if they're still actively looking for work would sort any confusion out. izanagi doesn't seem to be that active any more and hasn't posted much in the last few months and I haven't run a campaign in a while but I would still happily do so and you can be rest assured I'd do a decent job. Nobody ever really seems to contact me regarding running them other than potentially shady companies or dime-a-dozen ICO and shitcoins and that's not something I'm going to stake my rep on but I'd be happy to work with any respectable companies or one where my rep isn't at stake.
I agree to your first point, checking up on some managers will ease out the tension among others, and will also create room for up and coming managers like coolcryptovator et al. I feel like sig campaigns are somewhat dying, people are losing interests, as ICOs are dying, and investing ratios have gone far down the sink. The market itself has been quite dead, and thus, less signature campaigns, and less hunting for managers. People feel like they can just bounty campaign off their whole ICO and gain 'ttraction, and they do.

Yeah. It's more about quality than quantity. I also don't think it's a good idea having one or two people managing multiple campaigns at the same time and willing to take on even more at any time as that's what leads to shoddily run campaigns and the forum certainty notices it in the rise of spam.
Oh multiple people managing a single campaign will only cause a fucking shitshow. Most people who manage a lot of campaigns just auto count posts, and pay them for the posts, and get it done with. Obviously there are exceptions like Yahoo etc.
328  Other / Meta / Re: Forum policy regarding Faketoshi on: January 02, 2020, 10:06:28 PM
Okay so like how Welsh said, censorship might not be the way, but a suggestion if it wasn't obvious enough, tag the faketoshi guys. Its obviously quite sketchy and manipulative trying to delusionize people into believing in things that are made up by an absolute horse fucker of a nincompoop. Create flags, and start topics, and common retaliation and drama will follow, and soon they will disappear. As for the discussions, I am pretty sure mods will handle it calmingly well, they'll be trashed, or moved. You'll just get used to it, tbh, it will be like "mErIt sYsTeM sUcKs" all over again, except in different boards, and it will be Craig dumbshit Wright, and poor people's altcoins(forked crappy coins).
329  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers on: January 02, 2020, 08:36:19 PM
We have a new campaign manager but trusted member of the forum Coolcryptovator he manages few signature campaigns in last month, I think you can add them on your list. His ANN: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5201844.0
Oh, Coolcryptovator, great that he's managing campaigns now. But, I am not gonna add him quite yet, I'll wait and see how his whole thing goes, I'll monitor him for a while, and add him maybe in a couple months.

Also on your list, you have listed a few managers, who have not done the job for a long time. One or two campaigns in the past maybe are not enough to be called campaign managers.
Okay, so the reason why I listed a few managers was not just because of the number of campaigns they managed, its more about how they managed, and how they handled rough scenarios. A person might manage 100 campaigns but manage it terribly, where his post counting could go wrong, delay payments unnecessarily etc. Doesn't make him a good manager, does it?
330  Other / Meta / Re: JollyGood: an amazing journey becoming Hero member rank on 1st January 2020 on: January 02, 2020, 03:09:48 PM
Congrats now you have only one step ahead. It looks like 1st of Jan 2020 is really amazing day for others as well Smiley

Nullius is back?? Well, fuck, I just checked and he is BACK! That is genuinely good to hear, his posts are absolute delight to read.

Also, JollyGood, congratulations buddy, you did tremendously well! Your journey thus far is definitely worth something, despite its ups and downs. It really sucks what happened with cryptsy but head up dude.

To a new decade!
331  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust Suggestion on: January 01, 2020, 11:01:55 PM
1 - If the mods were to abuse their powers, then they wouldn't be a moderator in the first place. And rest of DT can root them out if so.

2 - This is true, every member of the DT would have to be active more or less, otherwise it'd be hard to reach consensus.

3 - There can be elected "moderators" (not forum mods, DT mods) which are respectively "objective" people who can take care of any "red vs blue" situation.

Nonetheless, is it foolproof? No. But at least it'd give members a bit more power over DT.
Here is the thing, is your suggestion bad? No, definitely not. But, at the same time, the suggestion involves revamping of the entire trust system(again), it is gonna take a lot of time to make changes, and DT members will have a lot of work on their head in addition to doing normal DT stuff(tagging others, voicing flags etc). It causes redundancy to some extent, and costs a lot of time and effort.

I feel like the current trust system with the setting of flags incorporated alongside is actually not so bad, and its entirely community driven. There isn't really an immense need for the trust system to be changed all over again.
332  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust Suggestion on: January 01, 2020, 09:33:13 PM
The current DT system is prone to abuse, no matter you like it or not. With it being almost randomised with some algorithms, there are bad apples among the good ones.

I know that the removal of the trust system would impact the forum greatly, therefore, I would like to suggest a compromise.

Now the idea: Theymos and several moderators of the forum start with the "genesis block" of the trust system. They will be the first ones on the DT. Then, they can vote for people who they deem are active and worthy enough to be on the trust list. After the first X amount of members of the list is gathered, new members can be added (or removed) to the DT list by reaching a consensus among the current DT members.

User A, B, C, D and F are DT members. User F nominates User E to become a DT member and creates a discussion. As a result, User A, B and C reviews the user and comes to the conclusion that this user will be a good addition to the list and approves them while User D rejects. Because there is a consensus with the majority, User E is added onto the DefaultTrust list.

It is just a suggestion I came up in a jiffy. I believe it'd be a lot better than the system we have now. However, as everything is on this forum, my suggestions is open to discussion and criticism. Looking forward for your replies.
Here are the possible arguments, some of them at least:

- Mods might abuse their power, depending on the case.

- Way too time consuming for DT members, might not be worth.

- Some of the current DT members, while they may be good when it comes to tagging others, might have a controversial opinion when it comes to adding someone. So the controversy will more or less lead to adding people that may not be good for the system itself but rather for the people who make the system aka the pre-existing DT members. This will only lead to more rivalry, and soon the whole system you propose turns into a red vs blue war.

335  Economy / Economics / Re: A Nobel-winning economist says it’s time to kill the GDP metrics on: December 26, 2019, 11:22:40 PM
It appears people of the world are too feeble minded and uneducated to understand GDP. And so the powers that be are calling for GDP numbers to become obsolescent, so that we feeble minded do not injure ourselves attempting to make sense of GDP.
[...]
This is strikingly similar to americans being denied access to ICOs, access to leveraged crypto based trading platforms like bitmex, crypto ETFs and other innovations. Everywhere throughout the world, opportunities and options are being denied to some demographics. Doors are being closed. What's the reason for this, do you support it? How do people interpret the motive behind these policies?
I mean in all fairness, GDP was never meant to be the sole determinant of everything a country to base things on. Look at the definition of GDP for example, "Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the monetary value of all finished goods and services made within a country during a specific period. GDP provides an economic snapshot of a country, used to estimate the size of an economy and growth rate. GDP can be calculated in three ways, using expenditures, production, or incomes.1"

It just determines the growth of a country based on the production and income. Think about it, US is THE best performing economic nation cause they have put themselves in situation like that by keep printing notes, the rich people over there keep getting richer, and the poor get more poorer. One wrong neutralizes the other. Anyone who dare go against the US will most probably face an existential crisis, and will face a war they can't afford to win. The time is not to kill the GDP metrics, but rather change the whole Global economy, and stop letting one country decide the fate for the rest of the whole World. I don't care if Crypto is not accepted in the most parts, but if countries can work together and stop the multiple global crisis we're on the verge of facing, I would rather have that.

336  Other / Meta / Re: Demanding additional [li] tags in list !! on: December 25, 2019, 11:31:29 PM
I mean seriously! Just 2!  Angry Angry
Why would I create a list for just 2 items!
Increase it to 4 at least.

Reason for demand:
  • 1. Because I am too lazy to type/paste more.
  • 2. Because it's Christmas

Wait! Did I just create list with two items?
...why are you making this a big deal again?

Its normal English, a list is a plural form of a singular item, multiple instances, even if it is just 2. Gee, someone should really start get started with the on-forum Course thing that theymos started. People be dying out of boredom here.

Please go drink some Wine, and get hammered. Its Christmas ffs.

337  Other / Meta / Re: Community generated suggestions to improve the forum (+ eventual voting on them) on: December 25, 2019, 11:27:55 PM
When users receiving money for posting, then I believe their comments should have at lest some value for other forum members.

So I have a suggestion: if a forum member didn't get any merit in the last, for instance, 90 or 120 days, then such user will not be able to change the signature.

It should be noted that users without new merit still might have been able to continue wear their old signatures.
The situation isn't dreadfully bad to require a change, its comparatively fine. There are many people out there that make normal, not so merit worthy posts, which are still moderate posts, and not get merit for it. It could be a constructive post, but it may not be "merit-worthy", as a lot of people initially go like : "Does this post deserve merit? Probably not, maybe I will merit someone with a better post". One instance, there are more, obviously.

The change ain't required for now, if situation tends to become worse, then maybe not so bad of a idea.
338  Other / Meta / Re: Strange looking thread! on: December 25, 2019, 03:34:43 PM

Do you see anything weird in the picture above? If you look closely, you may notice that the page numbers are arranged in the opposite way as usual (123...) and that a question mark is after ». I have to admit I don't remember seeing anything like this before, does anyone know what this is about?

Thread is posted in Economy > Economics > Speculation, direct link here
Yeah, I inspected the element, seems like the question mark is in the thread name itself, weirdly enough. I think its just a small bug where the reverse question mark isnt recognized by the HTML and has just pushed it to the side. Not a big deal to be worried about.

339  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchanges with guaranteed listing on voting system on: December 13, 2019, 10:51:38 PM
Well, for the most part a lot of exchanges stopped the listing as it proved to be more and more pointless, and people making bounties here so others can go and spam the voting section of exchanges. And also ICOs used to pay upfront to the exchanges to get their coins listed, which also doesn't happen on the more relevant exchanges anymore.

Do we still have Exchanges with guaranteed listing on voting system ?
Here's another one [not vouching as well]: Binance

And also this:

340  Other / Meta / Re: Do we need a separate sub board for Lightning wallets / nodes? on: December 13, 2019, 01:18:16 PM
I mean while having a board for LN won't hurt, I don't think it is required right now. Cause think about it, not only is there no demand for this, there's lack of genuine interest in the whole topic itself. A very very small portion of the users here know and understand LN over here. People wanted a new board for Segwit when that thing was going all over the forum, but now, there's hardly any talk about it. Same goes for signature campaigns, people begged for a separate signature campaign board, and now there are hardly new campaigns, and the whole board won't even exceed having 2 pages. Point is, discussions will eventually start slowing down as you go, and the board will die off.

Rather, create a thread in one of the technical boards and allow everything related to LN on it, have arguments, debates, drama, James Charles, anything. Something like the Wall Observer thread.
