361  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pay off DEBT by do Gambling? think again before you loss more on: January 31, 2024, 02:58:43 AM
I have a hanging out friend who is having trouble paying his house installments, he wanted to borrow money from me but I didn't give it to him because I didn't have the amount he was borrowing at that time, I advised him to borrow from another friend but their answer was still the same, finally, he was a little desperate and with the little money he had he put the money into the online slot application, unfortunately, instead of succeeding in doubling his money, he lost all his money because he lost in the online slot application

The valuable message that can be taken from my friend above is never take risks to gamble to pay off your debts, the pressure is very big, the chance is very small that you can pay off your debts, often you end up losing even more and losing your money. look for loans, sell your valuables or look for part-time work to pay off your debts, is a good way rather than playing the small money you have in gambling
Again, it's all about risk, and as in your friend's situation, his back is against the wall and he only thinks that gambling could only be the way out. Unfortunately for him, the result didn't go his way. However, there is this one legendary story and I think it has been shared it already: The Founder Of FedEx Saved The Company From Bankruptcy With His Blackjack Winnings!. This is probably one of the exception, but I guess your friend and others have horror stories gambling in hoping that they will double their money and so at least they will be able to pay their debts. But in the end, this is a lessons to everyone that gambling is not the way out for the majority of us.
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less than 80 days until the 4th Ever #Bitcoin Halving on: January 31, 2024, 02:18:12 AM
It is crazy when you think about how small the daily block reward is getting. I think we’re really going to start noticing the scarcity after this halving in April. I wonder if we might see a bubble develop sooner than the typical 18 months after the halving we have seen in previous cycles.
Hopefully it will be a study growth though, same with previous halving years, although we might see the previous all time high getting broken maybe in the last quarter of the year and 2025 will be the banger year. As for the price, I think everyone knows that the prediction is 6 digits, from a conservative $100k, to as high as $180k or even higher than that. So this year is going to be interesting not just on Bitcoin, but the whole crypto market itself. Maybe there will be a few individuals around who have accumulate already in the past years and just waiting for the bull run 2024-2025 and make them millionaire. And with the Bitcoin Spot ETF already approved, it could really help drive the price after the block halving and then FOMO sets-in.
363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 30, 2024, 01:44:03 PM
New York Knicks currently have the longest winning streak in the NBA now with 7. Next to them is the Indiana pacers with 3.
Both teams have made the trade and so it seems that the new set up of players are blending up very nicely. Siakam had a triple double the other night as a Pacer.

Knicks has been so dominant in their last few games, starting from a big win against the Nuggets, they are now winning by double digits in their games. What do you see is the reason why this team is almost unbeatable now? Based on my observation, this started after the trade.

Their game with the Hornets, they won by 21 points and that is considering they are missing few starters like Randle and Anunoby.
What's happening to this team? Can we already consider them as a potential championship team?
I think Brunson and Julius Randle is really doing everything for the Knicks right now. Reminiscing of their previous years run when they make the playoff. And I still remember that they also had a good run during that season, even as a underdog, they will win big games against great team just like what we are witnessing right now.

But as far as potential championship team? They are not on that level yet, they will have to fight it out with Sixers and the Bucks and even Pacers on a highly contested Eastern Conference.
364  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] AllaKore RAT Targets Mexican Banks and Cryptocurrency Platforms on: January 30, 2024, 12:13:26 PM
I'm not Mexican, but this is scary indeed as this criminals are targeting big companies not just banks as per the report. Obviously, this groups are financially motivated and most likely they have success and that's why they continue to evolved and you might be right that they will go and target other Latin Americans with just a few modifications of the code itself. So the best weapons against this kind of attacks is to just really ignored those kind of message, specially with attachment that seems to be legitimate as it could really be one of those coming from this criminal groups.
365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You can not win if you do not risk on: January 30, 2024, 10:46:04 AM
Good day guys, how is the gambling industry helping you this period?

However I just want to say that in the game world gamblers are always there to bet and the important thing here is when a gambler can not risk he also can not win, true or false?
Many might still believe that a gamblers who's just gambling at the first day might end up winning w huge amount of money that he wasn't expecting but the truth is that as long as you stake on bet you have already risk your money, be it big or small.
That is the very definition of gambling, as it refers to the act of risking money on a game or event that the outcome is uncertain but the goal is to win money. So of course, if you don't risk any money, it's not going to be called as gambling and you can't win money. The outcomes are typically unpredictable, and participants willingly accept the risk of losing their wager. But to be able to at least mitigate the risk involved in gambling, we say that we should play what you can afford to lose. As losing is a very painful experience, financially and emotionally. And in gambling, it's not always that you experience a win, still involves luck 99% of the time.
366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 29, 2024, 11:28:22 AM

I like this form of interview as it allows to assess who is more confident and has a mental advantage. I think it's clear that Fury appeared to be mentally dominating, but it's hard to imagine anyone being better than him in this element.

Mental game is Fury's breakfast, he knows what he's doing and he became master in this kind of strategy. Though most fans wanted Usyk to win this fight, it is not that easy because Fury is fully ready and prepared by showing his opponent he is just playing and not a kind of boxer who make it obvious to show his opponent his strategy but he is kind of wanting to annoy every opponent and surprise them with his skills inside the ring.
Yeah, he could have mastered that craft, you can see that he won the mental game with Wilder. Prior to that we think that the Americans is doing to dominate the fight as he has power in both hands. But Fury negate it before the actual fight, as he continue to trash talk his way and maybe he went inside to Wilder mind that we think that Fury already took Wilder and break him apart on that 2 fights that he got. And we see if finally after Fury's lost to Parker, and he really looks like shot and no longer can pull that trigger. But it seems though that Usyk is not affected by the antics and what Fury is saying in the pubic against him. So most likely it boils down as who has wanted to win this badly in case it extended to full 12 rounds.
367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Use your winning responsibly on: January 29, 2024, 04:53:23 AM
Do not use all the money back to gamble, that's not wise.
I agree with this because we will always be able to gamble at any time but we should also be able to enjoy the results of the winnings we get because it is not something we will always be able to get, in fact the chance of losing everything can be greater.
Congratulations because you can control yourself well and choose to make a withdrawal and enjoy the winnings because usually we will be very tempted to increase the bet, especially if some of our multi-bet bets work well, meaning we can feel like we are a good analyst and think to make more money by increasing the bet amount.
Perhaps it depends on every gambler, and for those who have a lot of money, maybe they are not thinking of how big they win, they still going back to play again and again. But for us here, and I think the majority will agree, if we win, we might think of using that money in other things, specially if is supposedly "free" and it comes from the casinos. Just like in my case, I won last night playing online, never had the urge to comeback (perhaps later), and I used my winnings to pay with some of my bills, like credit card and even my internet bills as well for the previous month. Just so happy that the risk that I took paid eventually and everything was lucky for me last night.
368  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin’s Slide Below $40K Amid FTX Liquidation and ETF Turmoil on: January 27, 2024, 06:22:58 PM
And bitcoin slides back above 40k, amid.. no idea what happened to be fair. We should stop connecting bitcoin price to anything other than "people sold so it went down" and "people bought so it went up", that is really it, the worst thing possible for bitcoin could happen, and people could still buy, and the best thing possible for bitcoin could happen and people could sell.
And it just shows how volatile the market is, it's really hard to predict until it really happened. Just like what we witnessed, we says that it will go up to as high as $50k with the approval and it almost did jump to that price. But we forget that after hitting it, what will happened? And now it's being answered, the market will correct or at least when the news has been sold, someone from behind take advantage of the situation, sold and make a lot of money from it. And so the real catalyst will be the block halving, after-all, we have seen it's effects, the incoming bull run. So maybe it's good to have this ETF at the side, to just become a factor that will help the bull for this year.
369  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: UnionKey Fake Hardware Wallet - Phishing Site on: January 27, 2024, 05:57:47 PM
Thanks to this, probably the scammer is taking advantage of the incoming bull run and trying to trap those newbies who think that having a hard ware wallet and then searching for something new like this one will safe them a lot of money. But in any case, they can lose everything. We might be wary of another attack from criminals and using the same tactic. But for sure, many senior members here will able to find it out and give us early warnings and then administrators taking action by nuking this kind of accounts. Maybe they will be sloppy, or maybe improved next time so that it's hard to detect initially.
370  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know when to stop on: January 27, 2024, 05:30:46 PM
One of the scenarios I have experienced the most and multiple times that I should have known how to stop, but I didn't. The scenario is winning a good amount of money at the very beginning of my gambling session, and what I always do is not withdrawing at least the capital money I have started with. Instead, I continue gambling with the winnings until I lose them and then start playing again with the capital chasing the losses with the bad feeling when I keep losing and the need of at least recovering my initial betting money.
The moral of this experience is to always get satisfied and not being too greedy. Knowing how and when to stop your gambling session is very important as you said, otherwise you will become an addict that loses control with a high chance of ending broke and addicted.

I have also had gambling experiences like that. A sense of satisfaction is necessary when we get lucky streaks. In fact, we are aware of victory and have to get out. but we are more motivated to keep playing when we seem to be on a streak. sometimes we even up the ante.
the situation reverses when we lose and his ambition changes to pursuing initial capital. this is not a pleasure. I hope I don't experience a situation like that again, and neither will you.
It's more on the excitement of that winning streak, the motivation is really financial obviously, we hope that we can continue and win more. Players may believe that their luck will continue, leading them to take more risks and stay in the game longer. But as we find out, that is not always the case, their is house edge and sooner or later it will caught on us and that optimism will become negative. And then we are affected mentality, play again and again in hope that we can recoup those losses and so the process will continue to the point that we can control ourselves already and fallen to the category of being a gambling addict and consequences is very bad to each individuals.
371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The "loaded slots" scam on: January 27, 2024, 10:00:16 AM
It's important to emphasize that this is an outright scam. Slot machines, especially virtual ones, are based on chance alone.
So the term "loaded slot machine" does not apply at all. If you have ever seen someone believing in this myth, do your best to dispel it.
If we're going to gamble, at least we should be educated about it and do it in a healthy manner, without falling into the trap of fallacies.
Yeah, but this could be in the early days of slots machines wherein everyone is trying to figure it out how to beat the machine and so they come up with different ideas and scenario. But as slot games operators has evolved it's very hard to beat the system right now as it is based on randomness and everyone should rely on pure luck alone. Another misconceptions that we could be heard is the "cold" or "hot" machines. In reality though, each spin is independent and unrelated to previous outcomes, so this is just another gamblers fallacy. So yeah, this loaded slot machine are scams although I haven't heard any advertisement, and this might just be going underground or being propagated maybe in some obscure online platform.
372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 27, 2024, 06:16:53 AM
Luka Doncic!!! He really wanted to break the post Kobe scoring record held by Devon Booker and he pulled it off tonight. WOW. 73 points and a victory. Between Joel Embiid’s performance earlier in the week and now this you have to wonder if this signals a bit of a change in how defenses are defending stars. Will anyone ever break Wilt’s mark?
I checked the score and Booker got 62 points in a lost against the Pacers. But in this game, Luka was different, he really carry the team and beat Joel's recent record with 73 big points. And yeah, most likely everyone is thinking about Kobe in his 4 dead anniversary and wanted to show the fans. And everyone got their money's worth as we have two games that are really entertaining. I wonder though what will be the reaction of players when they hear Luka scoring a massive 73 points. We saw KD's reaction when being asked about Joel's 70 points. So let's see who's reaction this time will be a meme.
373  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Spam Emails pretending to be OpenSea on: January 26, 2024, 08:42:02 PM
Thanks, it seems that these scammers already have the idea that you've got some NFTs. Do you remember where you've likely have input your email related to your NFTs? or they just assume that the victim has NFTs and they're just trying their luck with it?
I just got some basic NFTs but I think they got my email from a database hack or something and they probably spammed their email hoping for a victim or something. It's really desperate move from them but I think they are still getting their money from gullible people.

Perhaps the OP is actively participating in giveaways and airdrops that are NFT-related, and scammers concluded that he would list these NFTs on Opensea based on the email he provided in one of the forms or platforms. As for me, I would recognize it as a scam even without doing any research, as I am not interested in NFTs and do not have any active listings on Opensea.
I don't really participate in active airdrops or giveaways. I'm even surprised that I received that kind of email. I think it's really from a database hack or something.

Maybe most of us here receive spam emails because we've previously tried various websites and platforms. It's even worse if the websites where we have accounts get hacked, and hackers obtain our information such as email addresses. Even though I check my emails every day, I'm always careful about the emails I open, and I only open those that I expect. It's important to stay vigilant and double-check the authenticity of such communications, especially when dealing with valuable assets.
I believe it's okay to open or read the gist but never open links or something. I hope no one gets scammed with this.
Yes, majority of us didn't participate in such airdrops or giveaways that's why we are very surprise to see these kind of emails and it's obvious a spam. And for those who haven't had experience with it, they can fall for this trick and thought that it's legit and everything. If we received this emails, it's better to abandoned it, and just create another one so that you will not received this spams. Or better yet check your emails for any breach,

https://haveibeenpwned.com/

Many breached emails, including some of ours, might have been sold underground to this hackers or criminals.
374  Economy / Speculation / Re: will the btc price reach 100k ? on: January 26, 2024, 08:22:06 PM
What you say could be like that, but the influence before the halving will certainly provide encouragement for the movement of bitcoin. If the price can be above $50K, instead of being corrected, of course reaching $100K could happen at the end of this year.
but usually after the halving,  the movement will slowly increase, but of course what is hoped is that next year a renewable ATH can be formed with quite fantastic values.
Before Bitcoin halving happens, the hype should trigger the price to increase gradually. And when the Bitcoin halving happens, the price probably increases quite significantly. To pass $50k isn't impossible, we already saw the price pass $48k before the dump several days ago (on January 11). If there is a pump in the next few weeks, the price may reach $45k again and it will try to retest to $48k in the next pump. So, to reach $50k seems not really difficult. However, although the price of Bitcoin can reach $50k during the Bitcoin halving, there is no guarantee the price will reach $100k at the end of the year. You said that the price of Bitcoin probably grows slowly after the Bitcoin halving. The progress of Bitcoin move may not as quick as we expect, so I think to pass $100k may be in the next year (2025). If we analyze the history of bullrun season, Bitcoin reaches the ATH 1 year after Bitcoin halving.
I think the hype is more on after the halving, as per my experience though, it's not going to be a sudden growth. It will take time before we see the price going on a rally but when it does, it's hard to stop the bulls from running, maybe we can reach $50k this year, or even easily slice the previous all time high of $69k. And there could be FOMO and it could be because of the Bitcoin Spot ETF, also the initial effect is negative as the price goes <$40k, during bull run, it might help that we have this news as it could solidify Bitcoin as a asset and so many are still going to invest on it even if we are in a bull run and then by 2025, we might see for the first time prices, hitting 6 digits and it will make another history for us.
375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING DISORDER on: January 26, 2024, 08:03:10 PM
sometimes people with this gambling disorder have to find themselves rock bottom before they can realize though. since he posted the thread i think he already had realized. maybe all he needs is another habit to replace gambling.

if he is doing it at crypto casino, the temptation is going to be a lot harder to fight it if he sees the casinos all the time. he needs someone in the house with him to keep him company to remind him every time.

No, they need professional help, if they depend on an external source to control their gambling, whether that help comes in the form of a family member, friend or a self-exclusion system implemented by a casino, sooner or later those systems will fail and then they will gamble once again, what they need to do is to find the inner strength to stop gambling, and most often this means receiving therapy and even medication to control their urges to gamble.
Yes, most likely that will be the case of the majority here, hitting rock bottom before they can realized that gambling is going to ruined their lives. So they better snap back and go back to reality and realized that gambling should not be the one to dictate everything for them. Gamblers can voluntarily give up, called self-exclusion, but it will take a lot from them. But first the OP should acknowledge that he has a gambling disorder, and then seek help from within his family and go to professionals for medical help. It's important to understand that overcoming a gambling problem takes time and commitment to the gamblers.
376  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tim Tszyu vs Keith Thurman WBO super welterweight Title March 31 on: January 26, 2024, 01:26:52 PM
Thurman is a decent tuneup opponent for Tim Tszyu but for it being the main event of their inaugural Amazon Prime show it is kind of underwhelming.  It was just announced that the WBO refused to sanction it for their title, which is good news because Thurman didn't deserve that opportunity. He doesn't have any experience at junior middleweight and has only fought once in 4.5 years.

Also, making it a PPV is ridiculous. This isn't a fight people want to pay extra for. It might get a few buys in Australia but it's going to limit your visibility everywhere else.

It's puzzling why Erislandy Lara, who is on the undercard, was given a world title for beating a really weak opponent and then allowed to keep it despite not fighting for 2 years.

The co-main event is somewhat interesting. Rolando Romero, another WBA paper champion, will be facing Isaac Cruz. Since losing to Tank, their careers have been disappointing. The winner will be mandated to fight Ismael Barroso. It wouldn't be too surprising if the old man managed to beat either of them.
And I really thought that the old man will have the first crack at Rolly Romero, after their controversial fight, early stoppage and it seems that Barroso is not that hurt or recovered very quickly after the initial barrage of punches from Romero. But I guess PBC doesn't want Romero to be damage early and so they try to match against the smaller Isaac Cruz who I think can also pull a upset if the check that Romero's chin. So Rolly is in no man's land, but as I champion, he has to defend that belt and all in house money again. And it is also puzzling why Lara is still fighting though, I thought he has hang his gloves for sometime now. But obviously I'm wrong, he can move up in weight if I'm not mistaken.
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Pacquiao vs. Buakaw - April 20 on: January 26, 2024, 01:08:41 PM
It's good that old fighters still get to do what they love, which is fighting, even if they're already at an age which is considered old for such a sport. Fans often miss these fighters. And what's more important is that these legends can still earn big bucks in these exhibition matches. Pacquiao and Buakaw are two giants in the fighting scene, although in different sports. No bad blood between them. No belt, championship, or ranking being chased. This is for fun mainly. But it's also the reason why I'm not that interested in betting in exhibition matches.
Yes, and there are also no disrespect, unlike in Floyd's fight wherein even in exhibitions matches, it's looks like him or his opponent has a grudge to settle. But in Manny's fight in exhibition, there are so much respect shown, just like when he fought the South Korean, Manny holding and doesn't want to put some damage on the guy because he knows that it's a mismatch and that he can still pull the trigger and even knockout someone even if it is exhibitions. And this could be the same here, no belt, but them and the fans are going to be happy seeing both legends. There could be some fans though who are going to bet here even if it is just a exhibition matches.
378  Economy / Speculation / Re: Self control cannot be neglected as an early investor on: January 25, 2024, 08:09:21 PM
I just started DCAING into bitcoin some months ago with the purpose of becoming a long term holder, I've got my funds in place, I've done my cashflow check up, I've started building my emergency funds, I'm following all the rules that I think I need to follow to reach my goals as long term holder. But guess what happened yesterday?.
I used the money I was supposed to use to lump sum into bitcoin to buy a game. Lame right, very lame. While a lot of persons would talk down on me right now about this cause I know I've messed up and was supposed to say no to that urge to just spend more. Although I've replaced it today with a lot of hard work. I've learnt a lesson. To succeed as an investor you must have self control. I had every reason to say no to the urge to get a game but I didn't. I lacked self control to say no myself and do the right thing.
If anyone must achieve any desire in life, he must have the self control to control his lists cause here I am burning with desire to accumulate bitcoin and this same me went ahead to forfeit it for a game. All I know is I'm never gonna make this same mistake again.
Did you sell all the bitcoins that you have slowly accumulating? Doesn't make sense though, I mean how much have you accumulate for months though? No need to answer if you don't want to. And I think you have to re-learn a lot of things being a supposedly long term holder because obviously you have done a mistake. Anyhow, if you really learn from it, it's not about emotions, it's about priority. Is that your priority in life, to save and buy that game? And if you are really here for the long term, and that is your goal, I doubt that you can simply dump your Bitcoin in the worst situation as the market is going into a correction just to buy those games because you want it. So again, re-tool yourself, if might not be the end of everything, there are still light in the tunnel so back to zero to you and invest again.
379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you gained anything after the end of bull run? on: January 25, 2024, 07:49:38 PM
Last bull run was 2021 and after that, altcoins price dumped a lot. In 2022, we noticed a little pump and in this year 2023, altcoins pumped a lot, if compare altcoins price chart after end of bull run.           So have you able to gained anything after the end of last bull run? Or last bull run makes you dumped and you are still trying to regain what you have lost?
I think it's too late to regained what we have lost or sold during the last bull run, so the practice should be,

a. accumulate in the bear market, 2022-2023.
b. sold in the bull run in 2024 or wait and continue to HODL till 2025 and sold if our altcoins reaches all time high.

For me that is my practice, I know it's going to be hard to do that, but my experience in the market in 2017 highs and then followed by the bear market in 2018 teaches me that. You can still accumulate though this year before the bitcoin halving or even throughout, but the profits might not be that big.
380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They know the truth but they don't want to accept it, publicly on: January 25, 2024, 01:07:37 PM
What brings people into gambling is money and when money is not there then we can say is just a merely game of wish because no body would like to waste their time to gamble what doesn't bring profits to them. You know people sticks on gambling site all time just to have that break through that they have won something large from gambling or has changed their life with gambling and most of the news shared here keeps motivating people to gamble more and that's is how people keeps coming to try their luck.

not everyone gambles purely for money, some do it for entertainment or socializing at the casino. we cannot generalize to everyone that they gamble to make money. because even though all gamblers hope to get money from their gambling, there are some who don't care whether they get money or not from their gambling because the most important thing for them is how gambling can provide them with entertainment and improve their relationships with other people.
But I guess majority might be looking to win when they gamble, and obviously, it's one of our motivation why we gamble, admit it or not. And if you talk about social activity, yes, if we wanted to enhance our experience, whether playing in a offline/online casino, we should look for financial gains as it adds another layer of interest to us. In cases that you define that there are gamblers who doesn't care about the money, maybe there are only a few of them. However, you look at it, they are still losing money so I don't know what will be their motivation, maybe to enjoy and have some fun, but there's none of that if you are losing money. But I guess the bottom line is, there could be negative aspect of gambling, and so each and everyone should be responsible enough as not to fall into being an addict.
