381  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Brave, the so called "privacy" browser now requires KYC! on: August 01, 2019, 10:18:53 PM
Well all of the good things I was talking about brave. For fuck sake.

I love brave, not gonna lie, its really good, and it doesn't crash as often as Chrome certainly. But it certainly does suck that they are asking for KYC for BAT payments, that's very sucky of them.

I disagree with you here. Even if it doesn't affect me directly, I no longer want to support a browser which advertises itself as having a strong privacy focus, whilst simultaneously mandating KYC for part of their userbase. KYC is completely antithetical to everything they should be standing for.
Yeah well we don't live in a perfect world, and if a company wants to integrate crypto payments whilst operating or having its users living in a country that requires KYC, they have to abide by their terms regardless of what they focus point of the company is. Its literally impossible for any corporate to integrate crypto payment mechanisms without asking for user's KYC. With the amount of people getting scammed, people are willing to give their KYC to corporate companies for additional security. In fact, many people don't understand how valuable KYC actually is, so privacy for them doesn't matter..
382  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos, can you drop some stats when you have time? on: July 31, 2019, 11:55:33 PM
@theymos, Thank you for the stats Smiley
Finally we have overview, can we have an own private board as the VIP one with restricted access based on good reports? Of course signature free. Smiley
Why? I don't see a specific need for it, not gonna lie. There are only 72 users who have 500+ reports, and for all we know at least a quarter of them won't even be active. Its time for stop asking for new boards but rather consider moving to the new forum since the software is ready, kind of at least. Its 2019, gay people are being accepted in the society, come now,the community deserves a new forum.
383  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | Sr Member+ | Up to 0.0375 BTC/w on: July 31, 2019, 11:45:41 PM
I do agree that the certain people should be removed from this campaign. Bob123 for example has admitted to intentionally deceiving someone in order to cause harm to the person by exposing what he knew was secret information. Chipmixer has a business model that relies upon their customers trusting them with confidential information (the link between the inputs and outputs), and I don’t see why anyone would trust Chipmixer to do this if they are paying someone like bob to advertise for them — this is not unlike a daycare center paying Jeff Epstein to advertise for them.
Do you have any links/proof/actual evidence for any of this?? I haven't read much in the forum for a couple of weeks at least, so please do link me down of said admission, and whatever the issue is, I am sure DarkStar_ and chipmixer would handle it in their own way as they please.

I have seen others post in a dev and tech thread saying, among other things that he doesn’t have a clue how the subject of the thread works, presumably to increase his post count and/to to show he posts in the sub.
Or...there's a fair chance that the user is trying to learn by actively trying to participate in discussions, and even if someone is wrong, they could be corrected. That's the actual purpose of the forum you know Wink. Albeit, there have been times where people post random ass crap just to increase their post count and stuff, but I am pretty sure that chipmixer participants know that there's a fair chance of them getting removed if they do that, don't worry honeybun xoxo.
384  Economy / Economics / Re: thoughts on companies becoming too powerful? on: July 25, 2019, 11:59:47 PM
Disney has become the media giant and has been on a spending spree for the last decade buying up different ips.

Facebook has been buying up all their competition and is the dominant social media company and nothing else can compete with it.

Companies become so big and they have enormous power over us, do you think companies like this should be broken up by the government or be allowed to reign supreme?
Honestly, I wouldn't be too worried about it. I mean, if you think about it, huge companies while they make a huge impact on the world economy, they are still in a way controlled by the government because of the by-laws, taxes, corruption(this is like the main reason if it wasn't obvious enough). Companies can rise all they want, but they are gonna end up shattered because of a billion reasons and we dont have to worry about it.
385  Other / Meta / Re: 2FA Security system can make bitcointalk for Safe and effective on: July 19, 2019, 09:25:08 PM
It has been said countless times that this will be available on the new forum software. Use the search bar before making a repetitive post.
To add on to this, SMF is soo old and outdated, alongside the fact that the forum is customized in such fuckall format that apparently adding 2FA to the forum isn't going to be really possible, many users have mentioned in the past but it's just never been implemented, which really sucks, but kinda have no other choice but to deal with it.
386  Economy / Reputation / Re: KILL IT BEFORE IT LAYS EGGS on: July 12, 2019, 10:55:17 PM
How do you bring it out to be actually bumping the threads based on providing their services or are purposely doing it just for the sake of such threads being removed due to competition? What measures are taken when people are found who do it purposely? Are these guys banned or just warned to stop what they're doing?
Whoever is caught bumping their services, is perma-banned. If a competition is staging the bumping, there's a fair chance it works out well, and the only thing the thread starter who could have been potentially banned is that he'll have to create a thread in meta about it. There's no real way to, at least for regular users to figure out who is behind the thread bumping scenario.
387  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinmama versus Coinbase on: July 10, 2019, 07:27:40 PM
If you're looking to purchase btc, honestly just use local bitcoins.

https://localbitcoins.com/  This site?
Yep, that very site. But read their privacy policy before anything as they recently just updated it. I love Localbitcoins and by far has been very convenient and easy for me. They are a peer to peer with an inbuilt escrow system and check it out. It's really good.
388  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinmama versus Coinbase on: July 09, 2019, 11:39:18 PM
How about a Bitcoin ATM machine?  Those allow direct purchases that is immediately sent to a cold wallet?
From what I am aware, Bitcoin ATMs ask for KYC after the purchase amount goes after a certain limit. Read this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5161285.msg51711000#msg51711000
And as for purchases being immediately sent to cold wallets, some generate an offline wallet and some ask you to input the QR code of the  address you want to send the funds to.

If you're looking to purchase btc, honestly just use local bitcoins.

389  Other / Meta / Re: The new (maybe not so new) spammy trend. on: July 08, 2019, 11:23:05 PM
Not only that, but there are a decent number of people who likes gravedigging, posting on topics that has been inactive for more than a year(there are exceptions though, but most new replies to old posts are irrelevant). Probably a "suggest lock" option would do the trick.
I always report those idiots for necrobumping, but I'm not sure what the mods do with the reports.  Sometimes there's a decent reason for bumping an old thread, but usually when newbies do it, it's baffling to me how they found such an old thread and why they felt the need to post in it again.

And OP, what you observed is something I've commented on a number of times, and you're exactly right.  I'd say most of the threads started in sections like Bitcoin/Altcoin Discussion are done solely for the purpose of having something for the OP's alts to reply to.  We all know damn well that most threads in those sections are complete garbage, and it's why I have them on ignore most of the time.  I'm not sure there's anything we can do about it except report shitposts.

And by the way, it's definitely not a new trend.  It's been going on for at least a few years now.
Sometimes newbies post in old threads, because some dorks think they know everything and start shit-talking to newbies when they create a thread about certain something. Sometimes, the newbies create useless topics, sometimes they don't. So basically, a lot of people's go-to reaction when a newbie creates a new thread is basically like: There's a thread already about this, you're a major dickhead for not searching about the topic on the forum, you suck, you don't have merit bahahahahaah!

This eventually leads to newbies and people who aren't very active to post in old topics to avoid the shit-talk, only to later realize they get shit-talked regardless because they necro-bumped a thread. Now this entire scenario is uncommon, at best, and usually its just shitposters posting in old threads if they run out of things to say, and to lure in their shitloads of accounts to well...shitpost. Honestly speaking, this entire thing sucks in general and bitcointalk is majorly screwed up for becoming a shitpost land than having actual realistic discussions.
390  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What kind of 'killer feature' would you like to see on an exchange? on: July 05, 2019, 11:57:42 PM
Live chat feature we will work on which is part of our customer relationship management framework. We want to make each customer a loyal long-term customer. Based on our model, the more you utilize our platform the more monetary and non-monetary rewards you will receive. This can also mean VIP customer service if you are in the 'top tier'. Naturally others will also get high-quality customer service but we can create special treatment for our most loyal users. Let me know what you think of this new customer relationship philosophy within the crypto space.
I am not so sure about the VIP thing, very few would be willing to do it. You have to gain the trust of your userbase for that. And if you want to do that, start with giving users access to their account private keys if you it is possible, many users will get on board just because of that, albeit I am not so sure how you will do it Smiley.

It would be convenient for the user, but not so much of a viable option for exchanges that are looking to operate a cost efficient suppert desk.

I know from experience that most of the users who seek support through live chat are doing that for the most silly (non support related) reasons, which is something you can't protect yourself against. Another thing is that when for whatever reason the live session ends, you will need a ton of luck to connect back to the same person you were chatting with.

More manpower behind email support would be appreciated. If they can operate so that you get a reply within a few hours, that would be ideal.

The main thing is that people expect too much from exchanges that are clearly profit oriented. They will never be perfect, not even remotely close.
I mean, live chat could be implemented on a later stage, that shouldn't be a big issue. The users won't have to worry about speaking to a certain agent, as the mechanism could be built in such way that the live chat agents could be transferred to one another, and if not, the other agents could view the previous chats that took place, kinda like amazon.

But since this also feels like asking too much, email support would be good I guess, so long as at least they are active, and care about their userbase.
391  Other / Meta / Re: [BAN APPEAL] gruberx on: July 05, 2019, 11:06:43 PM
As you can see, I have problems with the English language. Therefore, I mostly write in Russian local. Does it make sense here to quote posts in Russian?
If a Russian mod or a veteran "vouches" for you, you may have a chance, but that for all I know is a dead hope.
Let's score this shall we:

Your merit count is a tad bit low for mods to reconsider your ban based on that. You: 0, Forum: 1.
Your plagiarized post wasn't even helpful, it was a for an airdrop. Now that's plagiarizing for money, so you lose again honey. You: 0, Forum: 2. You're losing here honeybun. Sad

I'd say don't keep your hopes up, unless you somehow convince the mods or admins to sig ban you at best, but in the name of convincing don't annoy and pester them.

392  Other / Meta / Re: Why arent REPUTABLE signature campaign managers merit sources by default? on: July 05, 2019, 09:54:43 PM
I am pretty sure all of the reputed managers are merit sources: Darkstar, yahoo, lauda, Hhampuz, Hilariousetc/andco, OgNasty, LoyceV etc etc Not all of them were merit sources at the beginning of the system but they were added relatively sooner. And almost all of them have a relatively big sMerit source.

So what is your point? Name one reputed manager who isn't a merit source.

Bah, dont worry about merit sources, they will come and go. Its not a big problem. Go watch Stranger Things S03. Issa pretty gooddd.

I an not a merit source, nor do I wish to be. Every little thing that a reputed user is a part of grows the target on their back. Examples include Campaign Manager, DT 1 or 2, Merit source, and even Staff. 8 million users all worried about what time you take a piss during the day. Look at the reputation section and you can see some users requesting to be off DT.

Not that I cannot handle it or anything, but it's more of a i'd rather not have more duties thrust upon me that are definitely thankless.
Ah, my bad I didn't know.

But yeah,I have seen the amount of shit you guys go through, I remember how much shit people were talking about you when you delayed payments(?) for one of your campaigns because you went out to get drunk for once. There are some real shitheads here that have brains of a demogorgon.
393  Other / Meta / Re: [BAN APPEAL] gruberx on: July 04, 2019, 11:59:11 PM
I began to write on the forum mainly from the beginning of 2017 and I was more interested in communication on the forum, but there was a gap with the rules. These messages that you brought up, my experience of participating in airdrop, there it’s hard to come up with something original, especially since I didn’t read the rules carefully. I haven’t been participating in airdrop for a long time, even in bounty companies I haven’t been participating for more than a year.
I wrote a lot of useful posts, I helped many to understand various issues. Doesn’t it outweigh the few posts that I foolishly published?
No one likes you here, bye bye honey bun. You plagiarized, you got banned, no excuses. Sorry not sorry.

I'm not a moderator but since you already appealed via e-mail and didn't succeed I think your punishment will stay.

I did not see anyone get an answer by email. Therefore, wrote this appeal.
And good luck with the appeal being of any use.

If you really think you write "useful posts", quote them here, and you'd be damning lucky if you get a sig ban instead of a perma ban. goodluck xoxo
394  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What kind of 'killer feature' would you like to see on an exchange? on: July 04, 2019, 11:43:38 PM
i think the bolded parts are contradictory. shapeshift provides liquidity by market marking multiple altcoin exchanges. this requires centralization and trust. with a completely decentralized order book (and this technically can't be done yet in a trustless way), you won't have such clean access to liquidity. what you see is what you get.

fiat is also problematic because transacting with it at all requires trust---bank and e-wallet transfers can be reversed, accounts frozen. and the very idea of "customer support" for a DEX seems like a conflict.

in order for a DEX to be truly decentralized---and therefore safe from government pressure, meaning seizures and blocked funds aren't possible---we can't have these centralized conveniences. it needs to be 100% built on smart contracts, distributed p2p servers for decentralized order books, decentralized domain. there can't be a centralized point of failure.

we are still several years away (at least) from this sort of breakthrough IMO. i really don't know what will happen re governments in the meantime.
Boy did I not think this through enough. Fair enough on the buying crypto thing, I am a knucklehead for not thinking about it.

If my dream exchange is only gonna be in Unicorn land, then I at least ask for the original shapeshift kinda exchange to come back, it was hella convenient when you don't have to sign up and when no kyc is required.

Don't want to overact here since it's really impossible to have a perfect exchange.

Usual problems:
1) Customer Support
Minor or major problems, it should be addressed and solved within a day. The investigation should only last within a week but only on serious or major ones or much shorter if the user was able to provide all proofs. In other words, customer supports should be active 24/7 and responding quickly the moment the customer sent a ticket.

2) KYC
Don't ask too much of the details. Yes, it's mandatory since exchanges are complying with the law but not too much to the point that, National ID is given, Driver's license is given but still not passed the verification. The verification process should be done in just within a few hours.

3) The smoothness of the transaction
No more delays especially in the deposit once it was confirmed in the network. Traders want a fast phase!

Don't jump into a new feature. Instead, focus on improving the usual exchange concerns first.
This. A live chat for customer support would be even easier, and convenient.
395  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What kind of 'killer feature' would you like to see on an exchange? on: July 03, 2019, 11:53:38 PM
All I ASK FOR IS: I want an exchange which is decentralized, operates worldwide, no user login, relatively better customer support, which kinda works like shapeshift, no verification/kyc, has all of the mainstream cryptos listed, an option to buy crypto with fiat and same for selling(and not like buying bitcoin and exchanging them, no, buying any crypto with fiat), incorporated into many websites and wallets like in Ledger Live, offering anonymity by using Tor/vpn, not blocking user's funds, having good how to guides and FAQs, and a live chat for issues .

Find me that exchange, I DARE YOU! Listen up, you business fellas, a golden opportunity for you guys, make me the dream exchange, and the crowd will follow.
396  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Easiest way to purchase BTC nowadays? on: July 03, 2019, 09:58:00 PM
I'm still not sure If LB has mandatory KYC. As for Paxful, I believe after trading anything above 1000$ you'll have to verify your account.
From what I know, Local Bitcoins only asks for KYC for people who want to set up advertisements, I used LB a couple months back, and I was able to sell my btc from my account which is still unverified. This confirms it.

@OP Go through here, the official bitcoin page, and if you go through the links, you can sort out exchanges based on your location and other cool stuff. Very helpful!

And if you want to use an ATM, go through here to find the nearest ATM to you.
397  Other / Meta / Re: Unable to login through Microsoft Edge Browser on: July 02, 2019, 10:58:43 PM
Honestly brave is so fucking better, it even has an option that allows you to browse privately with Tor. Really cool! And there is an inbuilt ad blocker and block any scripts you want to. And like English Jesus said, I mean Jet Cash said, you can earn BAT tokens while using it.
I don't understand the thing behind brave. How do you know they're not tracking you?
Also, are they based off firefox or chromium?

Opera have an inbuilt vpn also, they just need to make firefox the same..
Here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BATProject/comments/a4pzt1/why_is_brave_based_on_chromium_not_firefox/

Read these articles/posts on why brave is  better: https://www.theverge.com/2019/3/4/18249623/brave-browser-choice-chrome-vivaldi-replacement-chromium
https://www.quora.com/Which-is-better-Brave-or-FireFox-and-why

Brave is almost basically chrome but without the tracking part and its just better overall, I don't have any other arguments on that, yeah.

I wonder how much data they have on me actually. I've changed my default search engine on everything to duckduck but I have an android phone and a lot of the sites have google trackers inbuilt in them anyeay now...
There's a duckduckgogo browser application for mobiles if you wanna use.

We need to make a bitcoin fund to set aside to buy Google.
I am sure, McAfee would love to do the marketing of this fund thing if it were to ever happen.  Grin
398  Other / Meta / Re: Unable to login through Microsoft Edge Browser on: July 02, 2019, 10:22:28 PM
~
You're replacing Microsoft trackers with google ones? That seems a bit counterproductive...
Yeah, as much as I enjoy a bit of Rick and Morty, Chrome isn't any better than Edge. Just as Windows and Edge send everything you do back to Microsoft for storage/analysis/selling to third parties, Google use Chrome in just the same way. If you have a Google account, it is even worse, with everything you do online being linked with your real name and details to build a complete profile of you, which can then be sold to everyone from marketing to political consulting firms. Add in the fact that Google are now blocking third party content blockers from Chrome, forcing you to see ads and run scripts that you don't want to. Chrome is pretty much spyware at this point.
Honestly brave is so fucking better, it even has an option that allows you to browse privately with Tor. Really cool! And there is an inbuilt ad blocker and block any scripts you want to. And like English Jesus said, I mean Jet Cash said, you can earn BAT tokens while using it.

How about Opera instead of Chrome? Smiley
Chrome is pretty much spyware at this point.
I think all Google users should use their data download to see a fraction of how much data Google has on them. (because of course you're not going to be given *all* of it)
I so definitely want to download my data download, but I'm a little too scared to see the result, cause I'm subconsciously aware of how bad it is going to be. :/
399  Economy / Economics / Re: Can bitcoin help rebuild Venezuela? - Darb Finance on: July 02, 2019, 12:36:52 PM
Their main problem is that in order to sell that oil, they need money to help them keep the extraction capacity at least stable, not even talking about expanding. So, they need money...to make money! And they don't have money!
The situation is pretty fucked up, like having a privatekey with 100 bitcoin but not affording the cheapest computer or phone to let you get it into a wallet and spend it.  Grin

As for that petro crypto, I consider it a joke.
How the hell can you back crypto with a thing you extract and sell? We should all create our own cryptos and back them up with the food we have in the fridge or the food we've eaten yesterday. Or the gas in our cars that might not be there tomorrow.

Anyhow, that country is lost, and if they manage to get someday some real leaders in charge that have a clue about economics probably oil at that time would have lost 90% of its importance.
Venezuela won't go anywhere, not until they still have oil beneath their lands. All the rich power hungry nations will keep trying their best to get their hands on those bad boys.

As for backing petro with oil, its not such a bad decision, like its kinda a smart move, but only for the wrong country,if that makes sense. You see, Venezuela is fucked up in so many ways, even petrol/oil isn't going to be enough to help them out of this shithole of a mess that is their economy. While petrol is a good resource that is backing up what is arguably one of the worst crypto-currencies, if petro ever gets screwed, and they dont money to extract the oil and sell it, then there is no use of having it as a backup in the first place. What Venezuela needs is a huge loan from the World Bank and do a massive revamp of their economy, make all kinds of socio-economic reforms, and not make any more stupid mistakes.
400  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is BTC at $10,000 in the USA and also at $76,000 in Zimbabwe? on: July 01, 2019, 11:41:37 PM
The hard inflation of the local currency which isn't valued anymore seems to cause a drastic increase in the demand for the usage of bitcoin within the country for various needs. This looks to be the prime reason for such a drastic growth in price on localbitcoins trading platform.
Partly, but that's not the full story.

Last week the Zimbabwean government banned all foreign currency, including the US dollar, and stated that the government's RTGS dollar is the only acceptable currency. This new currency, which was launched in February after the old Zimbabwe dollar was demonetized back in 2009, is already starting to see the same rampant inflation which crashed the old currency. People don't like being paid in it because it rapidly devalues, and the price of goods and services in RTGS dollars is rapidly increasing. Because of all this, US dollars are now both illegal, but also much more stable and more in demand than their own currency, and so attract a premium price on black markets.
Wait for real? I had no clue about this currency change of Zimbabwe up until now, and seems like Zimbabwe are only fucking up their economy more by the day.

I read this article by bloomberg, and the country is soo fucked, they are lacking passports, and almost everything else a country could possibly need to survive. Then I stumbled upon another article where they plan on initially printing 400 million$, but that's not gonna help them if their policies and everything else that destroyed their economy still remain the same. That's only putting more fuel to fire, aka more inflation, more people getting involved in black market trades, and for what we could tell, a massive economic downfall that could impact more than what we will ever foresee.

While some smart people would be wise to get into the Zimbabwean bitcoin market by buying it from the cheaper markets from the ROW and sell at a premium in their local country if its any at all possible, the most of them won't, mainly because there isn't enough money whatsoever in the hands of the citizens.
