Tor isn’t the problem though. Tor is the communications medium. Bitcoin is the currency. Attack Bitcoin and you attack the core of the problem. Someone isn't thinking this through. If you can call Tor just a medium for communication, why would you blame a currency? I mean, let's just solve all our problems and destroy Internet--that'll REALLY lock out those darned hackers. Hey, let's also destroy the dollar: that'll REALLY stop money flow to criminals! Bitcoin has no moral right or wrong. People use it. So the problem is people: let's just kill all the people, and then people won't be the problem anymore, right? This article is just a regurgitated mess by someone well armed with other men's opinions. Maybe it's just late, but I couldn't follow any of it. I've seen better writing on the average teen's Facebook page.

I found it on RT, the Keiser report. He mentioned Bitcoin and I was really interested in what it was. Thought it was cool and didn't pay much attention to it, until I heard it again somewhere else, and decided to join this forum and talk about it

It has value by design. You can assign value to anything. But trading socks as a store of wealth isn't really all that easy... They're hard to move around and easy to counterfeit. So they don't work well as a currency But they still can be used. You just won't have a very good time. Bitcoin's easy to transfer, limited in supply, and impossible to counterfeit. It does nothing outside of being these three very vital things. It's exactly like a dollar, except better. But in the end, we're all just pretending a BTC represents wealth. As long as a bunch of people are in on it and agree that it is, indeed, a store of wealth, it holds value because we're all in agreement.

We only need 1 Satoshi to keep Bitcoin going, we can always add more decimal places and use new units, such as pricing things in μBTC.
Lost coins are not an issue at all.
the problem with that is... if someone then discovers 1 bitcoin somewhere, they'd become the richest person in the world. There would be an Indiana Jones of Bitcoin

Call me optimistic, but I hope the gov abolishes BTC, so we have yet another excuse to abolish the gov

So, my pre-order of a BFL Jalapeno was a good move? Even though it might take me all summer to get it, I'll eventually be somewhat "ahead of the curve" by having stepped into the realm of ASICs?
For a while, yeah, until everyone else catches up. The better everyone else is doing, the less you'll make. So being ahead of the curve is vital to making good profits in mining.
