441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If double spending is such an issue and VNL solved it, where is the press? on: August 26, 2015, 02:54:46 PM
It will never be 100% solved due to CAP theorem.  There will always be a window of time where it could be applied, even if its short.

With our consensus and ledger, a double spend is very difficult to do due to the logistics of catching the available window, and the costs associated with being in a position to actually influence one.  But, its still possible, just highly unlikely.

I'm not an expert by the language of John's Whitepaper he seems to think he has solved it.....not just made the likelihood of it happening negligible.

Are you saying John is wrong or that he never really technically said its '100% solved'
442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / If double spending is such an issue and VNL solved it, where is the press? on: August 26, 2015, 02:35:08 PM
The title says it all. I'm curious, I read all the time how double spending is some big issue but there seems to be zero press attention to fact there is at the very least a credible claim its been solved by Vanilla Coin.

Well ask yourself without emotion or attachment to your book which coin is the fastest, safe and soon anonomous.

That coin is currently Vanilla Coin.
444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for Devs to help in new ICO on: August 25, 2015, 03:06:36 AM
Oh no, not again

Why on earth does the world need another coin?

Says the person with "dogecoin core developer" in his sig

lol, thats actually pretty funny for an ETH shrill.
445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNOFFICIAL] VNL | Vanillacoin 0.3.2 | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP | ZeroTime BETA! on: August 25, 2015, 02:21:21 AM
That exchange already has Hamradiocoin and Truckcoin but Vanilla coin needs to vote.....the indignity. VNL is getting some decent steady vol, exchanges should be happy to have it. What about Cryptsy?

I think that Cryptsy should be avoided.

I agree that liquidity is necessary but there are reasons why I have stopped trading there.  Not to mention that the two exchanges VNL is currently on needed help to compile...meaning that BigVern would need to spend some time figuring it out (and it looks like he might have bigger concerns since he has a. lost trust and b. would have to put in some effort.)

The XT/Core debate should be considered here as well.  VNL is, as far as I can tell, technically superior but there are other market forces involved.  XT being one of them and a reason for the urgency was cited in a reddit post as being that there are technically better solutions coming up.  Whether or not they were referencing VNL;I doubt; but VNL still occupies that role.  Gavin coming out and tweeting that he was going to interact swith BTCD is a huge confidence blow to where the core devs are standing (which is not in relation to each other...seriously, a core dev citing an alt known to be financially manipulative (sigh...I have done my homework) is unprecedented in my knowledge.

There is a lot going on in the alt world right now.  I like that the fundamentals here are solid and not being compromised in light of all of the drama (inter and intra).  Now is the time to just watch and see what happens...cuz BTC drama is not over in my opinion.

Edit to add - Props to Polo.  'Needed help' is probably irreflective of the attention they placed.  But anyone who was around for the C-Cex drama knows that VNL is not a plug and play for exchanges...

2nd Edit to Add - Anyone think it is suspicious that BTC rallied recently prior to its current 'dump'?  Presumably, XT code was already discussed/written/maybereadyforimplementation...

Your post made me change my mind, I agree. The bigger picture is not to have some problem with a wallet on an exchange not implemented right.
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Easily the biggest opportunity in crypto. on: August 25, 2015, 12:48:57 AM
ALL
anon coins = hype

why?  Cuz, polo conTrolls the majority of anon and it is 100% KYC AML.  Really what's the point of anon if you submit all personal info to be able to buy/sell?

---
That said it looks like DASH has fumbled a certain victory.  They were handed the anon coin of choice trophy at the start of the year and now it looks like MO can rally back to match capital, and to be honest, is actually the more robust anon.

VNL, xDuck, Shadow, Cloak are all dark horses but VNL clearly the leader of this back pack.

BYTE stinks so bad of over-hyped it makes stellar smell good Wink

My money is on one of the lesser known anon coins killing as a DAP mixing service for all these over hyped anons ;0

The Anon function isn't the main feature of VNL, it's simply a nessecary part of a payment system.....also the dark project seems more than just anominity for the coin anyway.....seems more a platform for an anonomous web?

Zerotime, sending with zero confirmations iS the killer function that NO other coin can achieve....which makes it pure gold as a payment system.

Any chance to see VNL/Fiat trading on Poloniex ?

Regards

Goldmaxx

Any push going on for more exchanges, would obviously love to see a big Chinese exchange that negates the dump trading on Polinex. But would be just as happy to get more exchanges generally.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Easily the biggest opportunity in crypto. on: August 24, 2015, 10:05:32 AM

biggest oppotunity? LOL
And that from a guy who is splashing around in Ethereum threads, and attacked NEM cause he lost his stack cause he forgot his password.
Hugh credibility, buy this shitcoin asap.

Two can play that game i did t need to even look at your past posts to remember you were one of the biggest shrills for NEM......ie the biggest bunch of assholes ever to grace the crypto scene. And I also remember you and that community absolutely convinced you were going to be the biggest crypto every and beat Bitcoin. Bunch of assholes. So you're doing the same for Eth now yeah? Lol

vanilla coin is an obvious winner cause it's now less than 1m marketcap and is the only coin to instantly and safely send....if you think that's not important for crypto as a payment mechanism then you need your head examined. Bitcoin simply can't be the money of e commerce unless it goes through other payment processors. ie misses the point.

You can disagree and think a slower payment is better.....and that's your God given right to be wrong.

fact is I've seen big projects come and go, NEM, NXT, all of the NXT built on projects etc and they have their little season everyone is interested and then people move to the next big thing......the fact is instant safe transactions may not be the obvious sexy function but that's all you need to be the best payment method of choice......mark my words when people have stopped caring about ETH...Vanilla coin will be going strong.

Oh I am not talking about coins. I am talking about you. You are just a troll and everybody should know it.

Bytheway how is your Qora doing?

I sold it around 20 sats and put all Into Gemz and vanilacoin yet to regret it, thanks.

It's like when I put 5btc into Qora for the ipo when everyone was crying scam....I did Reeeally well. How's your beloved NEM?
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If somthing bad happend to bitcoin what cryptocurrency will you use ? on: August 24, 2015, 08:24:40 AM

Why can't anyone on this thread answer the damn question, the question was IF not will BITCOIN have anything bad happen.

The perfect coin that probably we should be using instead of Bitcoin anyway is Vanila Coin. New code, sub second transfer, solved double spend so no need to wait for confirmations, soon to be anonomous. If there is a quicker, safer, better coin I would love to hear about it.

451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ban ICOs on: August 24, 2015, 08:08:53 AM
i think people are on somewhat of a different page to what i am suggesting.

i'm not suggest banning anything from the world/internet in general.

again this forum is bitcointalk, not unregisteredunlicensedsecuritytalk, notgetrichquicktalk, notgamblingatyourownrisktalk, but bitcointalk.

So who will judge what is and isn't an ipo scam. I guess you would of excluded Gemz, NXT, basically half the top 10 coins.

Let people decide what is and isn't worth investing in.....we aren't children.

HOWEVER I personally believe Liberty is not Anarchy. So what I suggest at least is having some rules for posting IPOs, there is already a trust thing which many use, make it mandatory to have your project vetted and verified. I've been saying for a while this forum needs some basic rules, like Newbies have to post in newbie section, sock puppets gets rid of a lot is issues here. Make it mandatory to post 10-20 times and actually ban people if they are caught involved in anything proven to be a scam.

But not giving access to potential opportunities is letting this forums users down actually. Some basic rules I would support, not blanket banning.

Huge VNL mining profits not working good for the price! Whatever, I am still holding some VNL !

People will say I'm a conspiracy theorist but the amount of money and possibly big investors that some who even support Ethereum have wondered if banks are some of the whales that have come into ETH.

It wouldn't be crazy to think that the drip drip VNL dumping that doesn't really help the dumpers much as they are pissing in their own pool COULD possibly be an strategy to push down a potential competitor. I think some serious money people are trying to guarantee ETH wins. a personally I think you can't really keep a good coin down....you can damage it, but never destroy it.

Crypto aint as complex as it might be fun to believe.
I think all it is - the people complaining about manipulation and dumping their stack is actually why the price falls. Which is ironic because it's the people who complain about other selling and then sell themselves that does it.

What I do agree with however, is that you can't keep a good coin down.

I only bring this potential in cause ETH is a little bit unique, I was seeing 200btc buys come in for ETH, even Polinex users recognised there were possibly bigger forces at play with it. At the very least Polinex users seem to want the price of vnl down if anything to not distract from their baby ETH. At this volume it's ultimately a play thing for even a minor whale, conspiracy or not.

453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ban ICOs on: August 24, 2015, 06:44:23 AM
Not all ico s are scams and even if 99.9% were banning stuff is stupid, crypto is about liberty and making your own decisions, good and bad. let people do what they want, who made anyone the judge to decide what someone wants to do if all they hurt is themselves? Some ico have made people rich, NXT, etc so you are blocking some from doing really well from them. Plus they are more like share issues these days, you can't guarantee you will make money....that's the way it's susposed to be.

I don't think it's likely that John would let his identity slip and I don't like the idea of revealing people's identities....it's just not crypto etiquette.

BUT if the above general address is legit then John is very rich.

http://streeteasy.com/building/the-tate

First of all since John wanted to be anonymous, do you think he would use his real address?
I'm pretty sure he uses VPN. And if you think he lives in New York, then you must also
think he is a vampire because his timezone is not Eastern.

Dude chill out, I didn't post it (I simply google mapped the address) Like I said I doubt if JC would let his identity slip......I was simply saying IF it was him.

http://www.cryptocollectorsclub.com/vanillacoin-secrets.html

I wrote an article about Vanillacoin. Now, this is totally personal opinion and might be way off base, just my honest thoughts, but this is why I am holding some and mining.

I am sorry but I fail to see the bigger picture with this article. It's basically says "it doesn't look too good, but I am holding anyway" What's the point?

There is no big picture there, it's FUD, he would like to be opinion maker while he can't decide if he should support the project or not. In one of his posts he said he sold, if he holds some VNL now than he bought them lower, so his article in which he reveals some kind of big secrets but he can't even write dev name correctly is nothing but trolls FUD.

Yes that's what I thought, under the false pretense of supporting this coin he spreads fud. All under some sort of white knight banner, "warning investors to be cautious but buy in anyway" Sly between the lines market manipulation, that's what it is.

FUD is getting very sophisticated these days.

Don't consider it suppression, consider it a cheap buy!!!!  I'm buying in at a btc or 2 a week, the longer it stays low with development moving forward the more money I make.

I've seen this scenario before, everyone hidden on IRC no real momentum buying.....This is Qora all over again. Sorry but if i don't see a major price move in the next couple of weeks i will move on.....even the best tech fails when the community does things wrong.

People like you who are happy with price suppression and a stagnant market lose in the end and become major long term bag holders, even when you try to leave you crash the market cause the vol is so low....seen this all before, I really hope people listen. No break through in the next two weeks and this coin has serious problems.
460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNOFFICIAL] VNL | Vanillacoin 0.3.2 | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP | ZeroTime UPDATE! on: August 22, 2015, 10:32:47 AM
just as a comparison

ETH has 288,000 out of 27,000,000 up for sale (~0.4%)

VNL has 900,000 out of 9,000,000 up for sale (~10%)

on the first few rises on vanilla, the was a mere 100k up for sale, now were almost 10x that, someone is manipulating.

and i get a feeling it has something to do with the chinese miners, who claim the will suppress the price and  its "game over for vnl" in their words.

this is not looking good, still holding tho.

I don't want to be alarmist but I watched Qora die because it's early main exchange turned out to be a scam. Qora never recovered in vol and still today is seen as a coin that goes nowhere. I seriously advise people with the resources to buy and break steadily the weak sell wall. If a coin stagnates for too long it sends a negative self reinforcing message. I said the same to Qora community but was criticised.....most rise in a coin needs to be early or when new features are released.

I strongly suggest we as a community try to get on more exchanges, out of the clutches of the manipulators, ideally obviously Chinese large Chinese ones.
