Just saw this link with a Getgems 'call-to-action' bar on it which is pretty cool. http://snip.ly/L09Y#http://www.coindesk.com/token-security-research-analyzes-blockchain-us-law/

Sniply is a simple tool that helps you drive traffic back to your own website while you share content from all across the web. With Sniply, you can add your own custom call-to-action with every page you share on social media.

What's the magic? It doesn't have to be your own website! You can even embed messages into articles from Forbes, Mashable, TechCrunch, Gizmodo, or New York Times.

Once airdrop and IOS is in place we need to use this on a decent article in WIRED etc.

My last four attempts in the last two days to withdraw gems from polienex ended with an COMPLETE: ERROR status.....  Anybody else have the same problem?

On the subject of exchanges we are down to one major one now with BTER not likely to be up and running anytime soon. I personally we need at least another major exchange. Going along with that the bigger picture is we need to get rid of centralised exchanges completely and have a user friendly way to buy Gems.

bter is exactly the reason why I want to withdraw my gems from polienex Wink We still have the counterparty DEX and should use that one for idiological reasons.

I have some gemz on poloniex and some at Koinify, for now the centralised exchanges are the most popular. Although i would like to have the option to store my them on my desktop.

Surely your GEMZ Counterparty wallet is the safest?
I wouldn't keep anything on Polinex I wouldn't be willing to lose.

Aren't counterparty and koinify both web wallet making it the same, or is counterparty web wallet more secure?

I think Koinofy is a Counterparty wallet, but i still wouldn't have it sat there, it was only really designed as a temp wallet but that's a personal thing. I would be more concerned about Polinex, nearly all the big exchanges have been hacked now, they are very very risky at this point. It almost seems as soon as one gets big enough it becomes ripe for hackers.....or possibly the owner to run off?

* Counterparty has a cold wallet, not tried it but I guess that's a serious option if security is the issue.

I got my dads friend into Getgems, he was pretty much sold when he saw the gif feature : p, a good gateway to bitcoin network.

Despite what some people say in this thread, allowing short gifs (or similar formats) in an unobtrusive manner is a HUGE selling point for a chat application and something that WhatsApp and several others don't think is worth the time of day.

I'm not against it but let's not overplay it. Let's not forget it's already on the Telegram app and probably many of the clones of Telegram of which there are quite a few. The focus on what Gems has that is different to others is the most important surely. It's a cryptocurrency app that users earn real 'money' and that democratises social by sharing the profit of an app with its users. That's the big hook as I see it.
1227  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTER.com Hacked, 7170 BTC stolen on: February 15, 2015, 04:21:40 PM
Tomorrow morning all the newsmedia will be full of the hack details and the price will plummet. Again.

Lets hope that doesn't happen. A hack always does plummet the price unfortunately :/

I have a hunch the market won't skip a beat and will shrug it off, I mean it's not like the coins are out of circulation but are more likely to be horded even, in theory supply wise it should increase the price!

And I'm sure a lot of bad people already own Bitcoin, now they own a few more.  Grin. Nothing to see.
1228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: February 15, 2015, 03:34:31 PM
^ and bitcoin reminds me to failed earlier digital currencies with a similar model, bitcoin must be a scam! Luckily Getgems will be used outside of bitcointalk trolls and everything about it just makes sense and has a purpose for people to use so nobody cares what u say.

On thing I love about Gems is its almost FUD untouchable. If it gets users absolutely no one will care what they post on this little niche site. That's why we haven't really had much FUD. The only possible thing FUD can do is lower the price at this early development stage, personally I think that's all good.
1229  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Pay to integrate Bitcoin? on: February 15, 2015, 01:14:19 PM
your post discussed price increase which belongs in the speculation section.  as this topic is not news it is also borderline speculation on whether and when google pay will integrate bitcoin.

I speculate you are a middleaged man sat in his underwear in his living room watching game shows.
1230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Pay to integrate Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2015, 06:29:16 PM

So what news could be fuelling this move? Is it the Google Pay story?

News events are not the only cause of price movements. When the market cap gets as low as it is now it becomes easy for whales to manipulate the price by placing large orders. The price has been moving up and down between the low- and mid-200s like clockwork for a few weeks with no apparent connection to any news events. To me it looks like they're just running pump-and-dump schemes to squeeze some profits out of the weak hands that always sell when the price drops and then buy when it goes up.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I've never traded BTC but it still has a market of over 3 billion! I cant see how that can easily be manipulated? It's only a hunch but I have a feeling the worst is over for Bitcoin for a while, we have come out of a very bad patch but it seems we may be on the cusp of going mainstream.

Now I actually am going into speculation..but I think if you look at the 1 year chart it wouldn't be crazy to conclude that we have bottomed and have turned a corner.

1233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 14, 2015, 06:02:14 PM
How could 1 person destroy a coin?

By being so obnoxious it was hard for even supporters to keep going to the thread. When we needed developers he scared them off. great job. Plus I'm pretty sure he is a NXT boy trying to scare any nxt like coins away.
1234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends[Updates&Discussion] on: February 14, 2015, 05:46:00 PM
Sexism is so 2012^^

Why are you pointing to my post or do you mean the one above mine?   Undecided

You need to get rid of this guy as soon as possible. He singlehandly destroyed Qora.
1235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Qora | 100% POS | Assets | Names | Voting | Open Source on: February 14, 2015, 03:14:04 PM
It would piss me off completly cause I had over 5% at one point. I actually think it's a stronger hint than it seems. I mean people were already making the link to BCNext Qora was clearly aware of it. And appart for. All the coincidences in their behaviour if you combine the combination of leaving a coin just like BCNext did AND making exactly 231 posts like BCNext then I guess the logical conclusion is that Qora was definetly making a point even if he isn't BCNext. That logically seems clear or at least very likely.
1236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Pay to integrate Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2015, 12:42:24 PM
Google play would not integrate bitcoin as a payment for so many reasons one would be the price of it that keep on crushing, its too risky for them.

No risk they simply would use it as way for people to buy fiat into the Google pay system and also they can convert to USD rapidly. No risk to them, just potential revenue increases.
1237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Pay to integrate Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2015, 12:40:30 PM
I'm crap at maths and Im no economist but surely people have got it wrong about it being detrimental when companies like Microsoft etc take BTC cause the thinking is that they will quickly convert them to Fiat so it pushes the price down.

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong but surely as Bitcoin has a wider use and thereofre is stretched over a much wider network the price will definetly increase as the coin becomes more scarce. I mean we only have 10m or so in supply so even a small amount of mainstream use and you will start to get liquidity issues in BTC. Sure I get the short term potential for drops but the bigger picture is its one step back and two steps forward?
1238  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Pay to integrate Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2015, 06:40:24 AM
Why would Google Pay integrate bitcoin
I'm sure you will lose your anonymity if you use bitcoin in Google Pay

I think it's bad idea

Why wouldn't they? If they know Bitcoin will be the future then Google would be the first to want to be a part of it even if it threatened their payment system. If you can't beat them join them etc.

It being a bad idea or not doesn't really affect the significance of the move by Google IF the rumors turn out to be true, which they seems quite likely.
1239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Google Pay to integrate Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2015, 06:23:03 AM
It's annoying that I was seeing what looks like a stealth rally in Bitcoin but no News that would back it up, so when I asked it got stuffed into the dark world of the speculation thread. The Mods on here don't have much nuance in deciding where topics should be.

1240  Economy / Speculation / Re: Any reason for the small pop in price? on: February 14, 2015, 06:20:28 AM
I think it may be the google payment system implementing bitcoin, news

Bingo I think you might be right. It's annoying this got moved to speculation cause I wasn't wondering about the price move but the possible News that that be causing it.
