1061  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: March 26, 2015, 02:19:16 PM
Somone dumping again on Polinex, clearly one person trying to drag the price down or just the worst investor in Crypto. The fact is it's still only a handful of Bitcoin, drop in the ocean. I hope their efforts lead to nothing.

Sorry to say this but Polinex in my mind has always been about hardcore traders chasing and creating pumps and dumps, so not surprised it's happening there. The guys who hang there will buy Tittie coin if they can make a few Satoshi's, the latest pump there is clearly Monero.

What is so great about Monero that guarantees anyone will ever use it?
1063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: March 25, 2015, 08:20:58 AM
Someone dumped pretty hard on Polinex. I wish I had some BTC spare right now.

why did  they dump it? about 240xxx gemz. wow

It was a suspicious dump too, anyone can decide to sell but a tiny bit of patience and they could of got probably 40% or so more BTC. Maybe somone wants to put some into Synero a related project but still selling like that they either are idiots or trying to drag the price down.

You know anything about it? You seem to be quite involved in Telebit?

No one has asked what he wants/needs the BTC for?

I'm sure postage to many parts of Africa is pretty poor but not impossible. They can buy anything anyone in a developed country can buy and get it posted.

Define company? If you think Snapchat or FB is a company then...

Some new coins are actually better described as tokens in a product that IF successful produce wealth two major examples I like are GetGems which is a messenger app that if they grow their user base then you basically own a percentage of its 'profit'. Closely linked with this company is Synero which hopes to do the same for a FB type platform.

It must have some power in shaping opinions especially in the area of kids education games cause guess how's doing a load of it?

Quack messenger interestingly has a pretty similar advertisement model.

Interesting, it is a similar share the wealth of the advertising model, but still the wallet and crypto element is all missing. It's seems a basic share thing though. But yeah interesting, it looks like it's probably got around 1/2 million downloads already as well. That's the beauty of this angle on crypto, plenty of room for different players. ie it's not unrealistic for us to get a million users as many others are.
1069  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Some of you programmers should create a Bitcoin simulation. on: March 21, 2015, 03:36:03 PM
Would be better to make a real live app and run it on Testnet..

Maybe but what might seem completely simple and logical might seem like Advanced Algebra to them. Of course people need to use the real thing at some point but I see this as a way to give people the satisfaction of making and seeing how they could make a payment without extra unessecary stuff. I personally use multibit wallet which is easy as hell but it still had a lot going on when I first saw it that made me wonder if I was doing something wrong.

Plus I was thinking more colourful and educational that anyone barely interested could click around on and quickly see what Bitcoin is. Many people lets not forget hear the word Bitcoin and have no friken idea what that means. Give people the simple eureka moment of easily sending an amount to a chosen fake profile and ai think you are 50% done in making a new Bitcoin convert.
1070  Bitcoin / Project Development / A nice fun project for visual designers, a Bitcoin simulation. on: March 21, 2015, 03:29:17 PM
I had this idea for a website that visually shows people in an interactive way how easy it is to send Bitcoin.

Done well I bet it could earn tips in Bitcoin quite easily. heres the discussion.

1071  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Some of you programmers should create a Bitcoin simulation. on: March 21, 2015, 03:26:25 PM
Should it mimic bitcoin exactly? Such as with confirmation times, current mining difficulty and such? It's possible. Post around in the project development section. It will definitely happen.

I was thinking a more cartoonish version of a wallet, no need for miner crap etc. Just some visual interactive wallet that allows you to cut and paste an address from a fake celebrity list on one side maybe, you input and then it can give a fun visual portrayal of your coin flying like magic fairy money dust around the globe, haha.

I guess many of the videos of abitcoin are well done, just adding that interactivity and educational element that shows an average Joe how easy it is to send to somone. I thinking simple colourful, visual with humor, maybe mocking how much hassle banking online is in comparison.  Cheesy
1072  Bitcoin / Project Development / Some of you programmers should create a Bitcoin simulation. on: March 21, 2015, 03:16:03 PM
I barely know how to use my phone let alone code so don't waste time saying why don't you do it, but what about this suggestion to breed new uptake of Bitcoin.

Imagine people can click on a link on FB or whatever to see for themselves how easy it is to make a payment with Bitcoin. Basically recreate a fake visual Bitcoin wallet site that anyone can click around and get help tips and then guides you to make a payment to Mr X. Maybe do it like game apps do these days by guiding you to click buttons etc.  The whole point would be demystifying bitcoin to people and giving everyone that 'why didn't I use this earlier' lightbulb on moment of sending Bitcoin to someone even if that someone is a fake Miley Cryrus account.

If it's a decent educational visual and fun site then it could link off to download real wallets etc and you could get paid by Bitcoin tips (of course). I think we are in the stage where many people hear about Bitcoin but never use it, similar to the early days of the internet.
1073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: March 20, 2015, 05:07:12 PM
Let's say iOS app is released next week. And in the first week we get 10,000 new users. What would that do to the price? Would it be $1?

$1 would mean it would pass Litecoin in marketcap.

GEMZ doesn't really have many exchanges or volume yet. Would investors start cashing out if we get buyers?

Once news breaks out we get buyers, volume increases, increases attention, more buyers. If we get on more exchanges = more volume.

Good thing about Gems is its almost FUD free cause you can't trick the user downloads counter on apps. I see the only limit to price is the donwload count. If we got 10,000 in one week then damn we might be looking at potentially an app that has 100,000 in a month and then a million in a year then who knows? I personally will judge this apps value based solely on downoads. IF we ever did get in the millions like some big apps then I believe a bigger marketcap than Bitcoin has at present is justified. Bitcoin however will benefit from any succes of the app. One thing I would say is no app got a million users overnight, even the big ones had a slow season to build up its userbase, it takes time, months even years.

I personally think we will get to $1 but I admit we need to get around 100,000 users to justify that price.
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: March 20, 2015, 03:59:20 PM
^ If you look at tsu, it's a social network like fb but it's build on attention economy and its app has between 500k to 1m downloads. If you check youtube on tsu you see in comments everyone putting their profile link to get more followers to earn more on the content they share. What im saying is tsu gives you an idea how such model gets received by the wider public which is very positive, getgems can be that to whatsapp, although tsu uses dollars which is widely used but if gemz would have an easy way to convert them in app than it would attract more users i think.

What makes me even more positive for a messenger app is how many downloads even really crappy ones get, this one has around 100,000-500,000 and that's just on android obviously.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mywickr.wickr2&hl=en_GB

I wonder how many messenger apps have 1m plus users. I see ones like this one has over 150m and I never even heard of it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nimbuzz&hl=en_GB

Being the new FB is so much harder then being a relatively popular messenger app.
1075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: March 20, 2015, 02:57:19 PM
Once iOS app is released, where do you guys think the price will be? Also, will the price of GEMS be determined by exchanges or by advertisers or users?

No one obviously knows but ill share my own opinion. I expect a pop in price just simply based on positive news about the app producing what it promised. Price discovery like anything in the free market is decided between buyers and sellers so obviously that is at exchanges. But the price I believe will increase as users increase. My main thinking for buying heavily into this coin is there are quite a few messenger apps that routinely get a million plus users....or a lot more. So if you have anything like a million users I recon you have the user base of Bitcoin over a short period (potentially). the problem with 99.9% of altcoins is they never get past around 10,000 users so in reality their inflated price is based on potential that is rarely realised. with Gems IF it gets a million users or even 100,000 users that a massive user base compared to any other alt. There is one question a friend of mine mentioned is just cause you get tons of users doesn't guarantee you will get them to use the Gems. I agree with that but hopefully gems as a company will leverage a decent sized user base. I personally want to quickly see a way for users to either spend or convert their Gems to Bitcoin or fiat cause to the average Joe they won't see value in gems unless they can get something tangible and sadly to many people even fiat is tangible but better they can buy stuff directly with Gems or Bitcoin. On top of that as advertisers gain interest they will add to demand for Gems and become buyers to reach users. I personally think advertisers will only really be interested a bit later when the user base has expended. In my mind its all about increasing the user base, it's kind of like a small snowball rolling down a hill as it gains momentum it grows creating more and more momentum as it does. I'm as tired as everyone with bullshit hype in altcoins but ai honestly believe Gems could well be a powder keg that blows up and we get a few million users then price wise we really could go to the moon.  Grin

Ps I'm just a user. I think the team are too busy to answer everyones questions, but they will I'm sure as they get past the big milestones.

First of all .gemz price need fly to the moon  that only way can add user and glasp people s atention

I think one will feed into the other. As users increase the price will likely increase and as the price increase then that only helps motivate users.

When the advertisement model goes live, then getgems is the first ever messaging app with this kind of model right? Wouldn't this be huge in the IM world?

i strongly believed so. majority of the people now are using Whatsapp. AND...its not free. it may be very cheap because it costs $X.xx/year for their service. But once iOS and airdrop launches, GetGems moves into the Invitation Scene.

just tell your family, friends and collegues "Hey, you are still using whatsapp? i just uninstalled it. Reality Check - you are paying to IM while i am getting paid to IM."

I dont pay to use whatsapp tho, haven't been notified regarding that? hmm i believe after a year i need to pay. Thats why getgems needs to market this big, because its the first in doing such revolutionary thing. Have you seen the advertising model options? its pretty amazing and they might even add more options along the way.

according to whatsapp's website, its $0.99 usd/year. people wouldn't mind paying since its dirt cheap for a year's use [and using it everyday]. in some countries or telecomm companies, it might by bundled together with their subscription plans. therefore, making it less noticeable as a Pay-to-use App. Whatsapp isn't a pay-once-to-use btw.

Yea...getgems needs to market it big. might be a good idea to market it on Youtube videos? advertising through TVs is expensive and difficult to reach out to people in all countries. marketing it on the internet where crazy high traffic can be found like Youtube might be worth considering. but i think a more interesting and engaging ad will be needed. one that will cause people to click on the ad instead of skipping it.

I am usually an anti-ad viewer whenever i watch youtube videos. But for the past 1-2 years, ads have become increasingly interesting to the point where by some are so good at catching one's attention within the 1st few seconds and there is a "Gripping Moment" when you just simply have to check out what is the ad about.

I've never downloaded an app due to an advert and to be honest there aren't many adverts of apps apart from the annoying ones you get on games etc. Most apps become viral by simple word of mouth and communication generally over the Internet. Gems has a great story ie an app that pays the user, it's simple and interesting hook which I hope the marketing team in Getgems makes full use of.  Trying to push a cryptocurrency app will get nowhere. So all you need then is to get that simple story out to online news, blogs etc. Plus you got to get out of the Bitcoin Gulag and into more mainstream news sources even if they are just tech based sites like Wired etc. Plus you got to have some focus on China/Asia not just the West.

My belief is if we can tip the balance to 50,000 users this app will go viral in less than a year.

Read this everyone. All about attention-economy.
GetGems is to Whatsapp, Synereo is to Facebook?

http://cointelegraph.com/news/113724/synereo-attention-economy-and-distributed-cloud-to-deliver-next-generation-social-networks

their crowdsale is about to start soon. GetGems' crowdsale ended last year. Although Synereo isn't competing with GetGems, this piece of news just made me happier that i have chosen to invest into GetGems last year. So far, there isn't any other IM app that has to do with attention-economy. GetGems was the 1st and it seems it is still the only one.  Grin even if Synereo is indirectly competing with GetGems on certain aspects [just saying in case], the GetGems Team are already busy working on it while Synereo has yet to start their crowdsale.

Now...aren't we all glad that GetGems was already on to this early on? YES!

I can't believe they didnt just lift their ideas off Getgems. Bitcoin publications need to use a bit more discernment when posting the blurb of a coin, a bit of journalist questioning of a story wouldnt be a bad idea either.

After a quick glance, it looked to me like they decided that the attention-economy model would make a great fit for their "SpecialK" platform and clapped it on. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" and all that. If it's any consolation, those guys at least bring something to the table to make their Synero a little more than a knockoff clone.

GEMZ has already been featured in CoinTelegraph, and is already known as the attention-economy alt. When you think about it, Synero using "attention economy" is a boon for GEMZ. Almost everyone who's heard the phrase heard it in connection with GEMZ; we have the first-mover advantage publicity-wise. So it's a good bet that Synero's publicity drive will rub off on GEMZ. Smiley

Look up. Grin

That explains the language similarity then, ok cool.

With all due respect its not completetly different though. I kind of hoped Gems could morph into something like a FB site in time and even search cause I thought if you expand the Gems model out you basically can cut out the middlemen including the government between us the consumers and the advertisers etc Its good if you both can promote each other though, if one wins both win.
