1301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How significant will Death be to the price of Bitcoin? on: January 26, 2015, 01:20:08 PM
Stating the obvious but it's not that BItcon can't be divided up, what I'm saying is overall supply will decline due to deaths and loss, more significantly than we think. I wouldn't think its crazy to say we might lose 1-3% in this way annually, that figure is plucked from my butt but still I'm betting it's significant.

My point is this gives Bitcoin a natural price increase all other factors equal.
1302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How significant will Death be to the price of Bitcoin? on: January 26, 2015, 11:40:37 AM
Sucked you in,  Grin Its a serious question though.

How much Bitcoin is likely to become stranded in accounts because of users deaths? I imagine a lot, more than people have given it worthy of discussion. I bet a lot of holders if they got hit by a car and died would have no one to find their coins online...including their wives. Plus you got a lot of single guys using Bitcoin who aren't going to have a spouse to trust with their passwords etc even if they thought about it.

I would also add coins simply lost by people or forgotten. I personally have a bunch of tiny amounts of Sats in temporary addresses I made for different purposes, only worth a dollar or two but they must add up.  Add to that on purpose burning of coins and I wonder if we will even have any Bitcoin in 30 years.  Cheesy
1303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who cares if Bitcoin goes mainstream? on: January 26, 2015, 11:29:58 AM
So maybe people should stop crying for acceptance from the mainstream and give a finger to them rather than begging for legitimacy and regulation.
I'd prefer Bitcoin to be legal to use. I am not on the black markets in the Dark Web. So, I'd like to pay for stuff I really need in Bitcoin. There isn't a point in having money, I can't use.
I'd like to be able to buy Bitcoin on an exchange. I hope for decantralized exchanges to come this year, but I still want to pay online. I don't want to have to buy me Bitcoin in a dark corner in the middle of the night, cash only and always have to fear that the seller might be an undercover cop.
Yes, we need legitimacy or Bitcoin will die, since most people will just leave.
So, please spare me your romantic anarcho crap.

Are they selling Senior memberships on here to any retarded FED official that makes an offer?

What the hell are you talking about Bitcoin is legal. Who said mainstream means its more likely to become legal. You got it around the wrong way, if it stays a niche sector the establishment wont care, if it gets too big then they will come down hard on it more than likely. You hope for decentralized exchanges? What do you mean we already have them. And how do you think Bitcoin is just going to die? Do you really envision a time when every single person goes oh sod this I'm going back to the good old days of Western Union. So much wrong in such a senior poster it makes my eyes sting reading your post.
1304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: January 26, 2015, 09:47:58 AM
Guys as this is a no envy coin can I make a suggestion. If you are using Telegram anyway then why not download the Gems app instead. You are supporting crypto, and you lose none of the functions of Telegram and can connect with a telegram users, plus you can earn coins once the airdrop starts. ITs worth knowing that Gems app plans to incorporate other alt coins later so NEM could make a profitable partnership at this early stage.

It's a win win I think.    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.getgemsmessenger.app&hl=en_GB
1305  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to the moon? on: January 26, 2015, 09:25:58 AM
The first exchange backed by federal reserve guys... new money coming in even if people dont like to buy, the increase in volume will moon it, just like SendChat will moon BTC in March

Nice try on Sendchat, the IPO that has only recieved like 15 BTC. Gems is the better bet if you think messenging will be big.
1306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who cares if Bitcoin goes mainstream? on: January 26, 2015, 09:20:06 AM
Bitcoin has to be more radically accepted for it to be a currency. No point having 50 bitcoins if you can't buy a bag of chips.

I honestly don't know why people suggest we can't buy much with Bitcoin. Especially easy if you live in North America.

1307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who cares if Bitcoin goes mainstream? on: January 26, 2015, 09:16:55 AM
I'm actually not against getting rich, even quickly if that's the case but I don't need massive mainstream adoption to get rich from Bitcoin I just need the rest of the world to depend on rapidly inflating fiat. I know gold bugs often dismiss Bitcoin but it's a digital Gold in my mind even if not one single more person adopts it. And the reality is even if we do t have lots of people taking it we have many ways to convert it to capital goods or yes fiats. Fiats are fine in the short term, you just don't want to hold onto them for any extended length of time.
1308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: January 26, 2015, 09:09:51 AM
Why can not I log in counterparty. This is the message: " No counterparty servers are currently available. Please try again later. ERROR: The server is not fully caught up to the blockchain. Please logout and try later. (Most likely this message is due to the server being updated.) " This puts into question my safety. I do not feel safe with GEMS. Counterparty server does not work and so I did not have my GEMS. I do not like this whole GEMS. Peled1986 voice heard. The application also do not mix.

If you do not like them, you should sell them.

That said, your GEMS aren't stored by counterparty servers, they are stored on the bitcoin blockchain. You could probably also create a script to spend them with a normal bitcoin client to, if you were so inclined.

Even if counterwallet dissapeared one day, as long as you remember your 12 word passphrase you can always retrieve your addresses and corresponding private keys using a tool like https://blockscan.com/tool_generatekey

I did not know that, good to know cause I was wondering how stable Counterparty was.
1309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Who cares if Bitcoin goes mainstream? on: January 26, 2015, 05:50:19 AM
personally I want Bitcoin to go mainstream, call me an idealist but it will mean sound money for once globally and all the benefits for people globally.

BUT. I'm also selfish and if people aren't going to wise up and are more likely to trust the MSM then who gives a crap, its their problem I mean as long as I can store my wealth in Bitcoin, move it over borders protection in a currency crisis etc I couldn't give a rats ass if it goes mainstream. I know mainstream would boost the price a lot but even if we hardly have any growth in users and it remains a niche market the price will still eventually increase enough to make most people happy. So maybe people should stop crying for acceptance from the mainstream and give a finger to them rather than begging for legitimacy and regulation. Ironically it would make Bitcoin more attractive to many people as well. Bitcoin is like the weird misunderstood kid at school and instead of being aloof and confidently different many are wanting Bitcoin to make friends with the popular kids, its sad, wrong and a mistake. Where's the revolution spirit and anti establishment that I'm sure Satoshi wanted and made Bitcoin to counteract.

In a nutshell screw Bill gates, Screw Warren Buffet, Screw the FED's, Screw everyone who opposes democratization of money that puts power back with the people not governments and their printing presses. Seriously screw em and stop pandering to them. We need leaders in the crypto community that instead of wanting to build bridges all the time should be acting more like the Sex Pistols.
1310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Would Make People Gain Much More Interest in Bitcoin? on: January 25, 2015, 06:27:02 PM
What Would Make People Gain Much More Interest in Bitcoin?

- Full acceptance by PayPal?
- Interest from Apple?
- Centralised, safe exchange?

What do you think bitcoin needs for the major interest worldwide?

Those options are a sell out. You just need more people fully converting to crypto but so simple an idiot can use it.

Everyone I explain this to is like "Holy Shit!"

This is gonna be huge.  Does anyone have any idea when the IOS version is scheduled to be released?

Didnt they say they had already done a ton of work on the iOS version?

I think they are waiting for Telegram to update the iOS source:
https://telegram.org/source

I would like confirmation of that from the Gems team. Waiting on another party to update for Gems iOS could means months till its done?

Time for a basic development plan report, problems and all I think.
1312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BurtW arrested on: January 24, 2015, 05:42:45 PM
I just sold out my Polinex coins once I saw today its US based. Maybe its legal but I want to be away from the US government, they can change the rules as they want.
1313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Justice Is Served I Guess on: January 24, 2015, 10:28:35 AM
Stupid fcking media at its best. Spreading BS titles and intentionally mislead general public about the "news"

There is no " involvement in an underground Bitcoin exchange selling the digital currency to users of the black market website Silk Road." charge. The charge is "unlicensed Money transmitter"

Basically he sold and bought BTC on behalf of his client. The key here is "behalf of someone else, ie. brokerage ". He did not buy or sell bitcoins for himself.

Another charge was tax offense related which often called "money laundering". Funny word for not paying the government their shares

All that add up to his sentence.

How the hell can they charge him with 'unlicensed money transmitter' and at the same time declaring Bitcoin not a currency?

1315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates 3 problems with BTC on: January 24, 2015, 05:07:42 AM
If Bill gates was really interested in poverty issues in Africa you would think a way for Africans to use their cellphones to bank would be essential. Africans are already very savvy with older mobile payments and I was watching a BBC report that now smartphone use using very cheap African handsets are now exploding in popularity. Bitcoin could raise Africa out of poverty if they as nations get onboard with Bitcoin as a continent early. As the Wests wealth collapses with the Dollar and Euro Arica would be in a good position if they adopt wholesale Bitcoin now!
1316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates: "Bitcoin Alone Won't Solve Global Payments Challenges" on: January 23, 2015, 03:38:40 PM
I get a feeling the path is being cleared for the knight in shining armor Ethereum riding in on a white horse to save us all from the dirty druggy Bitcoin.

Fuck em!

Looks like somebody knows the iOS version is near.
We'll can break 20k in few days

That's exactly what I thought when I saw 10btc jump into buying in an instant almost definetly from one person. I'm not that fussed on price but I'm glad we are getting healthy vol.

sold all my gemz, i think it will drop soon

Lol

Nobody will sell with the loss below ICO prices (which was around 8 Ksat)

I hope we won't talk here about the price.

Based on BTC price at first stage of ICO we have a LOT of room to fall from current price.

Someone on Polinex today obviously disagrees with you.

NXT has got a LOT of room to fall to its initial price, BTC has a LOT of room to fall to its initial price, Ripple has a LOT of room to fall to its initial price. Plus what are you talking about? In BTC price the price has been pretty steady. What you mean is the price in fiat means that the actual price of GEMS has taken a dive ie a Bargain, and your logic is that it should therefore drop further? Can you give me one reason any stakeholder would now sell at a loss when nothing negative has happened with the project so far? It just got cheaper to buy in fiat, thats all.
