My answer is very simple : YES  Grin Grin Grin

Bitcoin price is easy to be manipulated ......

Please state how?  or are you blowing hot air?
662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoins Price be manipulated like Gold is? on: July 25, 2015, 10:05:30 AM
I saw this about central banks sniffing around Bitcoin to make a Frankenstein coin they can use to expand and scam everyone
http://www.coindesk.com/deloitte-central-bank-cryptocurrency/

This is the notion of using the blockchain technology without bitcoin. I do not think it has to be a scam. Central banks could do with a more transparent and efficient ledger to the bank reserve requirements.

BUT it made me wonder if you had enough resources they could hold the price of Bitcoin down like gold? I mean through deriveratives of BItcoin, not the actual coin. Could it be surpressed like gold?

Bitcoin's market cap is only $4 billion. The top banks and hedge fund firms manages an estimate of $10 trillion. They can manipulate bitcoin like a puppet. There is no doubt what they can do, if they want to do it.

How with a ton of fiat alone could you manipulate Bitcoin apart from inflating the price? If they bought tons of coins pushing the price to the moon people would take big gains and likely pump them straight back in, all it would do is raise the VOL.

Well, it is quite simple you can buy small amount of bitcoin on different exchanges(or maybe from/through middlemen), of course not instant but over time.
When you achieve that you can dump these coins at once causing huge panic and price drop. Then you can buy cheaper.

That's just messing with the price, it's not suppression. If anything it would just create more opportunities to trade it. A central bank would need progressively more fiat to do it till they point it would be ridiculous and Bitcojn holders would all be billionaires.

ok I worked out Unusualfacts30 bizarre hate of Getgems while happily posting all about other alts.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=902788.msg10056025#msg10056025

Seems he thinks Mangocoinz (a project I think is fun and I have nothing against) which is simply a coin in an app you can send, no messenger, nothing else with some serious security issues when it was first out is somehow a great project but Getgems isn't .......trolling fail. Lol

Get back to us when the CEO of Telegram tweets about Mangocoinz and major banks vote Mangocoinz as most promising tech.....too funny.
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Telegram CEO tweeted about A Getgems feature. on: July 25, 2015, 09:47:28 AM
I think people if they don't want to go too deep with a Getgems should think of it as decentralised social that rewards it's users rather than the owners of social media. It's not a threat to any other coin especially Bitcoin.

Why would anyone who supported alts and Bitcoin generally not be cheering this on to succeed? unless as I suspect you are simply here to pump and dump coins and make a buck.

Plus no one is asking anyone to buy anything. I have had the app since the beginning, I got a bonus for moving wallets over but basically I now have just over $20 in my wallet for doing nothing other than downloading the app. If people hate free money then sure don't download it. Haha

Dude. I installed this app the day it came out..not only that I got all my friends to installed it. How many of them are using it? NONE. Why? because it has no use. No one is going to install an app to earn pennies...if people want to use social messaging app they'll use the one that most of their friends use SUCH AS FACEFCKINGBOOK.

Ask your dev to come up with better marketing plan than spamming altcoin discussion with GetGemz and stealing other people idea and then going as far as telling people how it's best invention since sliced bread.

How about all my friends use GetGems now, and all the latest rate on Google play are 5 stars, and facebook messenger not offering Bitcoin or doesn't reward you for using it? The app has progressed tremendously since day one, day one whatsapp was shit aswell which still gets updated 6 years later.

Trust me GetGems dev is great at marketing and nobody is spamming here or else admin would have deleted the Thread, it's just that GetGems is doing well lately.

If paying people to send message had any benefit it would've been implemented in many apps by now. People want good messaging app not some pretty looking diamond that pays you less than half a penny to send a message...it's just another way to lure people to use your app..that's all. Not going to get too far I can tell you right now. All those downloads are from bagholders who bought during ICO and now they're waiting for next pump while trying to get other people to hold their bags.

Ok now you have moved from it's a scam to it will fail. cool, that's your opinion. But you can't be against this app unless you are against alt coins which you dont seem to be, cause umm you're here and posting about them.

FFS this is like 100th thread trying to promote GetGems. Don't you have your own thread? stop spamming

I'm actually happy to see one company GetGems here improving and delivering. I know competitors (if any) don't like to see such a great accomplishment but don't try to come here trying to censor actual worthy news and if there are more their should be more Threads cus i'm damn tired of all the bullshit Threads people fighting and blaming.

There is twitter to spread your news. stop spamming altcoin section with getgems and how it's best invention when in reality it's not. No one going to use crypto messaging app when there are bigger competitors such as facebook, whatsapp, skype, slack, snapchat etc. It sounds more like you're just trying to get people to buy these scam so you can dump your bags (which you bought during ICO).

You are clearly showing an envious resentment of someones achievements, i can easily tell GetGems success is not in your favor.

no, I just want you to stop spamming altcoin section with GetGemz. You have your own thread..go post there dude. It's as annoying as the guy who kept creating Monero thread

What.  The.   Hell.  Are.  You.    Talking.  About?

This is the altcoin discussion section HOW POSSIBLY COULD THIS BE SPAM...

If China is shut out of this app? then why don't we just get someone who understands Chinese and the app system there to get on one or more of the big app stores in China? Maybe it's a hidden opportunity?

669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoins Price be manipulated like Gold is? on: July 25, 2015, 03:54:56 AM
My point is more about exotic deriveratives. I mean the price of Gold is not I believe a true market picture but one based on paper gold which people can multiple as much as they want it seems. Bitcoin itself can't I believe be manipulated downward BUT a deriverative could be dumped at various times to make it seem like a genuine Bitcoin dump is happening....possible?

Plus, when I say manipulation I'm talking about suppression not increasing the price. Smiley

This is a massively important question cause Bitcoin has as much chance of being a major currency as a gold has ie none....IF the central banks can print digital coins and suppress the price of bitcoin. If they can't then any system they tried would probably fail....unless they simply said Bitcoin is illegal but their currency isn't. Sadly quite a possible outcome.

But I thought many if they did this would prefer Bitcoin as they would see the price rising over time. This is huge, CEO of Telegram retweets GetGems made Julia https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3ei1n3/pavel_durov_ceo_of_the_65m_userbased_telegram/

Upvote this achievement Cool

That's great but the fact he tweeted it means 860,000 people have Getgems in front of their face on Twitter. It could break to a mainstream news story possibly.

it would be great if there was a YouTube video tutorial of Julia..
673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GEMZ]|GetGems - Social Messaging App That Pays | LIVE on Android and iOS | on: July 23, 2015, 04:34:22 PM
^ GetGems is evolving advertising like Uber evolved taxis through their app.

I think my question wasnt said correctly.  I totally understand the revolutionary implications of gems.  I was just wondering why the token itself was necessary and why not just use bitcoin for everything in the app?

I've heard Daniel Peled the CEO explain it clearly why you couldn't just use Bitcoin. My understanding is you got to have Gem tokens to be the blood circulating in the app. I mean firstly you're asking the team to devote all their time to an app that might end up giving very little rewards. the team also need to reward users for using the app initially and this again you couldn't expect the team to pay for. I don't know how well Bitcoin can be sent in comparison to Gems offline too, gems are instant. Just so you know an airdrop is a major part of the plan, maybe 25,000 will be shared among users for maybe 3 years. People will be rewarded based on how much they use the app, numbers invited etc and how much they own. I also like to think as I own Gems I am a shareholder in the app, if you look at the coins more as tokens then it's a better way to think of them. No one is saying like 99% of altcoins believe  that Gems is going to overtake Bitcoin anytime soon. Plus I personally believe this is the best chance Bitcoin has to reach the masses in a user friendly way. Think if this app gets millions of users then all those people will have a Bitcoin wallet In their hands suddenly.
674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GEMZ]|GetGems - Social Messaging App That Pays | LIVE on Android and iOS | on: July 23, 2015, 07:28:37 AM
I just bought some Gems and I really like this idea.  Took me a while to get it.  One question though.  Why are Gems even necessary?  Why not just use Bitcoin? Thanks

(Sorry I'm not signalling you out I just think now is a good time to mention some things that should be relevant to your question.)

I would say most people that look at Getgems don't understand what is so ground breaking and exciting about this app. Sure its a cool app, hopefully bring a lot of new crypto users,  people can send and receive coins and buy stuff in an easy way that a 5 year old could do...thats awesome BUT its the tip of the iceberg and isn't why I am so onto this project. In one word its all about the 'Attention' model.

What it means is those who want to contact users including advertisers have to pay in GEMS (thats why we have to have a token built into the app) So forget the token/coin thing for a second and realize what this means, it not only decentralises social media and potentially even the internet if Gems moved into search say but it decentralises the money involved. Instead of Zuckerberg controlling your info and also making money from it, you own the info and you also benefit from advertisers wanting to market to you personally. Basically cuts out the middleman so a direct advertisers to people connection. This is always going to be optional, you can choose not to receive gems and therefore directed advertising. Plus the model will likely work on your own preferences say a simple checklist that you are willing to receive adverts related to this subject or these are the interests I want products/services to connect to me. Plus Getgems has something 95% of crypto doesn't have and that is potential for intrinsic demand. i.e. Advertisers or users that want to connect to certain people/products/services etc have to buy Gems to do so.

So my point is Getgems potentially monetises social but for the user. Plus the flip side is if you want to connect to certain users then you also can, I can imagine early stages some stores that accept Gems/Bitcoin will want to use the network. Imagine even a famous person etc can give a price at which they can grant access to them, like only allowing fans who pay a small amount to connect, or maybe an indie filmmaker or artist who will only allow streaming of his content if people pay to access his profile....its a little silly but there are many applications where people are sick of unsolicited information and want to control what gets to them and what they want to connect to.

*The OP has lots of info and Q&A that will explain things better.

I'm making a huge assumption but most of the buying seems to be during North American and maybe European daylight hours. I see very little during Asia/China typical trading times. So I was curious about the make up of the users. Are Chinese users able to download or are they blocked? Was a download ever provided for them or is it not planned? China is too important a market to ignore.
676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Telegram now has an A.I. BOT called Julia who is your personal Bitcoin assistant. on: July 21, 2015, 06:19:46 PM
Not really getting how this bot works or how it's useful... What are its application? Smiley

User friendly, the Telegram base users is 60m so  potential access to lots of people is pretty huge.

But I think the major use is Coinbase users can access their account through Telegram or a Getgems wallet.

I guess another step toward wider adoption.

Agreed. The 60 million user base of Telegram plus the users of Whatsapp is a huge audience for bitcoin. Even if 10% of those combined users, we will some dramatic surge upward, not only in price but also in adopters and users. Wink

Back to the question, what does the bot do? Huh

Talk to you about Bitcoin.....The perfect woman?

I hope the bot is not that lame like Siri. :v Does the bot answers complicated questions with definite and exact answers? I want to know. Cheesy

Well it's a bot so it's gonna act like ummm a bot. So Siri like it will be....

I don't use Coinbase but I assume there aren't that many things you need for it to do anyway, send, receive, check balance, etc...it's just a nice layer of user friendliness for newbies.

You know you could in the time you typed asking about it downloaded it and actually tried it....

at some point these features will catch on like wildfire....it would be great if whats app could build such a feature.

...probably they will do that at some point  Cheesy

Indeed, whatsapp is huge, once it gets inside whatsapp, BTC will go viral as hell. What they should do actually is going decentralized, so they can avoid being spied on all over the place. Whatsapp right now is one of the less secure messaging options you can have. If it ran under the blockchain the problem would be solved.

telegram is hardly a slouch, it's got like 60 millions users and is in an early growth phase, it's been less than two years since it released.
