The banks and the FED colude to manipulate precious metals through deriveratives, whi is this different and obviously just as bad?
1163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is too complex for the average person on: February 24, 2015, 11:22:37 AM
There are a huge number of people I know(work, family, what ever) who are still frightened by things like email and purchasing online. If I introduce Bitcoin to these people, their minds would implode. Even SIMPLY. These are the kind of people who will like the idea of Bitcoin but make some stupid mistake(store large sums online, accidentally send to wrong address, fall for scam) and forever be turned away.

I'm doing some online banking now and it sucks balls and involves many stupid steps and hassle. I'm not sure once bitcoin gets more and more easy the technical side will block most people. I think maybe people need hand holding later though and we might have some very user for some services and even 'banks' in the tradition way but based at least partially on crypto. I can easily see in a few years some progressive banks offering to help set up a abitcoin account that is used though a wallet with all the logos of the bank you bank with and loads of help menus and helplines etc. People will need handholding and possibly insurance if they make a wrong payment of maybe wallets that have in built blocks for large amounts that need bank authorisation and checking etc,

IF someone really wants to create a kind of centralised Bitcoin bank that handholds people like traditional banks their is a lot of money to be made I think. People would be running to you in a currency crisis.
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is too complex for the average person on: February 24, 2015, 11:08:42 AM
Once people even learn how to use Bitcoin, I bet 99% would just say it's easier to use paypal. The problem is not just Bitcoin but the whole money system. Why do you think they call money printing Quantative easing?
I've tried to tell people on FB that private banks under control of the FED are literally making money out of thin air but absolutely no one cares or believes me. Our system is almost so crazy that it's unbelievable, like they say if your going to lie then lie big. Imagine a news report came out that some guy got caught making fake bank accounts wih billions of dollars, people would be pretty quick to say he should be stopped and arrested. People can't understand things as they are now, they only understand things from a mainstream perspective they have been programmed to get.

Only one way people are going to get it is a currency collapse. I'm sorry to say it but people deserve to suffer one due to their apathy and ignorance. People need to be woken up to what is being done in their name to to them, and that includes tons of illegal wars made possible by monopoly money printing and that theft of money from the lower classes to fuel the political class.
1165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is too complex for the average person on: February 24, 2015, 06:22:12 AM
As a long time IT manager I finally realized that if you want folks to adopt to new advances you need to completely skip the technical aspects... more time should be spent giving them "what's in it for me" and making it fun.
When we did need to have training sessions relating to tech concepts we tried to make it a good experience... for example casino night... correct answer gained chips... or a virtual baseball game between two teams (base hit for simple answers... home run for harder etc).

As the op says as a community we have to come to grips with the need to dummy it down ... simple short promotions that can positively address their every day issues.

I do agree on what your saying. Skip the technical aspects and go for more mass adoption. As more and more are adopting this new currency into the market, people will easily understand then the need for BTC and its advantages compared to fiat.

I agree which is why I invested heavily in GEMS, If there is another project that will take Bitcoin mainstream tell me about it, until then this is the best chance we got. I wish the Bitcoin community gets behind this app and pushes it to their friends and gets it viral. It is another Altcoin but it has a Bitcoin wallet, it's a win win. The Bitcoin community is so fragmented it's hard to get a United front to attack the mainstream.

It's hardly spam of its a article on Coindesk, you troll hunters need to chill out more. Isn't it obvious that it's someone working at Coindesk promoting their site.

Yeah I can hear the typical teenage girl now saying WOW this app is Friken cool, many of my friends are already connected to it through Telegram, I can send my friends text, Cool GIFs, photos etc and it looks cute all pink, plus I get these really cool GEM things for FREE! Which I can buy cool stuff with...

BUT

I can't use it cause Clearly this app has been built on open source code using the Counterparty wallet protocol, let me go sign on to GitHub and voice my disgust.

Yeah there really is comedy in Bitcoin but mainly from those who think they aren't the source of it.  Grin
1169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: February 22, 2015, 01:31:35 PM
I don't think its a zerosum game here. Bring on the competition I say but so far nothing has come close to the GEMS concept. I mean even if telebit functioned exactly like GEMS but only had BTC then its really not overlapping the same functions. BUT even if a messneger app comes along that has just as much going for it as GEMS then so what, its like messengers today, some people use Snapchat, some use FB some use LINE etc. We are not in competition against anyone, I think we are in competition with ourselves, all GEMS needs to do is deleiver what it promised and I'm confident we have as good a killer app as Bitcoin can possibly have. There are 4 billion people in the world Bitcoin users are about 1-2M? There is quite a big market out there. Grin

I still have a nagging thought that I wished we weren't on another companies code but whatever, I guess users wont care. But if possible I would prefer we had a seperation from telegram, just an opinion.

I was talking with a Nephew and got him to download the app, his first question was where can I spend GEMS. That will be the most inportant question once the app is done. Gems Store?
1170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would you do if you wanted to stop Bitcoin? on: February 22, 2015, 07:02:03 AM
Sell all my bitcoin to crash it(1.5 million Tongue ) to 0$
Actually Bill Gates could buy the remaining entire supply of bitcoin for life and control the price..

He could play around with the price but actually him buying would only increase the price.
1171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CNN Inside Man bitcoin episode review! Share your opinions! on: February 21, 2015, 05:18:52 PM
Do we know why the episode was delayed so long from production to air?

Last Summer tabloid style Bitcoin stories were almost daily I personally could easily believe someone made a call to a CNN boss and said lets hold off on the Bitcoin show till the fuss dies down. I feel like the mainstream kind of think Bitcoin is almost dead now and leave it alone, now it's safe to air?

The reason I'm so cynical is CNN is really not a trusted news source by anyone's standard. The presenter and makers did a genuine job I think, and why not? If we hadn't had so many Bullshit reports and negative take down pieces in the media we might not care that an actual program pretty much said the balanced truth for once.
1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CNN Inside Man bitcoin episode review! Share your opinions! on: February 20, 2015, 08:52:14 PM
I almost puked when that Senator said how we need to arrest and bring to justice those who steal from people. Well you politicians didn't do so well arresting those so far involved with known billion dollar financial crimes. Was that the FED he was stood outside?

Well he has a point tho. If nothing is done exchanges will keep bailing out.

What I'm saying is the establishment has allowed billions of dollars possibly Trillions of peoples wealth to be stolen by inflation and other very real financial crimes that have resulted in no arrests. Google too big to jail.

So I had some gemz on BTER and atm I'm counting them as lost, how will this affect the project?

I did too. It won't affect anything even if BTER can't return them. BTER has said it will give access to wallets at some point, I think it was mainly BTC that was taken anyway. Even if the did take them the Vol on BTER couldn't of been that big anyway.
1176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watch bitcoin on CNN right now on: February 20, 2015, 02:17:56 PM
Any new link? Or should this thread be renamed You could have watched Bitcoin on CNN.

what do you think about this http://www.telebit.org/ ?
could it be a threat for getgems?

No, I don't think so. Well not yet anyway.

Looks too boring and complicated. I don't think there is any competitor to getgems at the moment.

I'm sure there is going to be a ton of Bitcoin messenger wallets jumping on this bandwagon. What separates Gems from the crowd is the adverting model. Imagine FB paid people every year base don how much they used it, imagine how happy people would be to recieve 10-50$ a year for using FB. This is before any money made from accumulating GEMS of course.

+1 on it looking boring and not user friendly.

Thats pretty sick if you think about that, or imagine whatsapps message upon install instead of saying to pay $1 yearly it would say get paid $10+ yearly. I actually believe you can earn much more than $10 yearly, much much more, imagine you are a hot chick or celebrity and get paid through unsolicitate messaging/ operating in the network/ inviting people etc.

Then you build into the app a GEMS/Bitcoin market and you've created an economy!

http://www.kakao.com/

I like the kakaotalk model personally. Call me negative but I kind of wish we weren't built upon Telegram and had our own unique code, wondering if it will be tough to build a brand ontop of another app code?  maybe people were too short term in their thinking maybe to jump onto Telegram rather than wait for Android? Thats not directed at the team more the pressure that was put on them from us the community.

Telebit is a cool project.
[Note that its only a Telegram bot, there is a security risk because users don't hold the private key to their wallet].

I know nothing but the fact they are giving away Bitcoins and they hold users private keys then surely its a theft waiting to happen?
1179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GEMZ]| SOCIAL MESSAGING APP THAT PAYS | Android App Released | on: February 20, 2015, 12:47:47 PM
For all the negativity Cryptsy gets, it's had no major hacking and is one of the only exchanges I know that is actually regulated and has a real persons name on the company, not some anonomous Chinese teenager.

Bittrex is another scam waiting to happen. Cryptsy is a far better fit. But generally I would say the more the merrier, more exchnages mean the risk to one coin is spread out.

Staggering ignorance here. I hope you are an outlier and not an example of a typical GEMZ investor.

Around here we like to argue on actual facts not personal attacks. While I admit I have had very little personal experience with Bittrex I have constantly seen its name attached to scams on this forum, I wasn't aware it had real names attached to it so that gives me more trust for the same reason I can trust Cryptsy a bit more than the average exchange. Cryptsy I have lots of experience is probably the most established exchange which has seen almost all its peers collapse over the last couple of years. Bittrex is whether you like it or not relatively a new kid on the block.

I'm guessing I own more coins than you yes. Main reason being I wouldn't touch any of the scammy pump and dumps that are on your posts. You're from Bittrex right?

Bittrex has been around for a year yes. You opened with personal attacks on Bittrex, then admitted you knew nothing. So, you blindly attacked, without knowing any facts. This makes your first sentence above ironic. I could care less how many coins you have or what your personal opinion is of anything on my posting history. Stick to the facts. Try not to reflect the GEMZ project in such a poor light.
