461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump sells $2.4 million worth of ETH on: January 29, 2024, 12:59:24 AM
The fact that he's got royalties from it is brilliant. Well, whoever has made those NFTs even made more money probably than him but that's fine. He doesn't even know what these EEEEETHereum is(with his accent). So, this can also be used for his campaigning for the upcoming election in the US since he's going to run again for that POTUS post.

I doubt that Trump or his employee that handle this transaction care or know about crypto market, let alone about the bull run. Actually it's even surprising for them to know how to sell the ETH  Grin. I think it's understandable that they want to get all the money they can get now since they need it to fund their campaign for the 2024 presidential election.
It is for sure that he never touches anything there and it's just some sort of his staff or anyone that works for him or connected to him informed him to do that advised and waited for his go signal. I wouldn't be surprised if there are few of them that works for him that aware of this and what matters there is the money that he's gonna get out of those sales through his trump team.

The team did it on coinbase most probably a swap so they don't have to worry about learning anything.
But however be the past statements of Trump that were made like 5 years ago, he's known to be a populist leader and he'll speak what he thinks would resonate with the larger group of people. In a recent 18th January campaign speech, he claimed . “As your president, I will never allow the creation of a central bank digital currency. This would be a dangerous threat to freedom, and I will stop it from coming to America.”
I'm not sure if he fully understands what he's saying or the statement is written by Ramaswami or other crypto experts in republican team but that's one of the most progressive thought about importance of cryptocurrencies as they are.
462  Economy / Economics / Re: China's economy is very sick. What to prepare for? on: January 28, 2024, 05:43:43 PM
Not a Chinese but I have seen Chinese economy from close and the type of growth they were having were bound to burst. And many many Chinese saw it coming.
The Chinese economy was oriented towards planning for ever increasing demand. Be it in the real estate or manufacturing goods.
The thing with real estate is there's not much Chinese can own for themselves and apartments is something they can call their own at least for a few decades. So, people kept on investing on apartments hoarding at cheap and selling at higher price creating a ponzi. When there were no more people ready to buy more, it crashed.
Similarly the demand for things like smartphone, gadgets and items has gone stagnant as the population on developed nation are on decline. There can't be ever increasing market.
But, Chinese economy is not just these two, for years China has developed a home based economy and it would keep them float and stability means they'll be the first to provide something new when it comes. Like EV at the moment. China would lead the market till it's saturated and just move to other things.
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chances for a Litecoin (LTC) ETF? on: January 28, 2024, 05:11:16 PM
As SEC are looking for excuses for not-listing ETH ETFs. So, Litecoin would surely be a good option considering it's economics is similar to bitcoin. Even though it's a different algo, it's supply are limited, the coin is POW making it more similar to bitcoin than any other popular altcoins.
As you mentioned, BCH is another good alternative which also has a more active developer team than LTC but again, ETF listing are more initiated and carried out by investment firm than the coins developer. There are news of Ripple paying lobbyist for ETF listing so the game of listing would be an entertaining one.
464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 28, 2024, 04:50:44 PM
The two super six formation has been finalized now. There would be all ICC Full members except for Afghanistan and Nepal would be the only associate member on the next round.
Nepal is placed in a difficult group where they'd face India and Bangladesh. And as the points are carried, they have no chance at all to advance.
I don't see much chances even for other teams to change their standings. India and Pakistan from group 1 and Australia from Group 2 would almost certainly advance to the semi finals. The only competition would be for 2nd place in group 2.
465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: January 28, 2024, 04:37:45 PM
Paris Saint-Germain are topping the Ligue One table but not with good gap because their top rival for the title, Nice is just sitting around the corner and they will ensure they make good use of any slacking chances created by PSG on the table. PSG headcoach, Luis Enrique is not here to play or jeopardize his chances of winning the Ligue One title, rather he's concentrated on the title, he's doing everything within his reach to ensure he keeps winning streak records in Ligue One matchs, which we all know it's not going to be easy for him but he have to do his best.

If PSG wins today, their advantage over Nice will be 8 points. Do you really think that Nice is somewhere nearby and waiting for its chance? In fact, PSG could miss 3 games and still remain top (because Nice won't get 9 points out of 9).
Today PSG will play against Brest, formally the third team in Ligue 1, and I think it will be easy to see how dominant they are. I think the score will be something around 3-0. Bookmaker quotes are currently as follows:

1.36 - 4.90 - 7.45

Quite generous in my opinion.

PSG is a force unshakable right now in the Ligue 1. Even though  we're only halfway through the league, we can clearly see there's no competition to PSG. The second team in the table Nice is not only 5 points lower while playing one more game than PSG, but the goal difference they and any other team in Ligue 1 maintain is minute to what dominating gameplay PSG is displaying. The race is now for the 2nd and 3rd position to qualify for the champions league.
466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 28, 2024, 03:40:16 PM

Talking about the bad results that Barcelona has had this season is endless and since Ter Stegen suffered a back injury at the start of last season, it has made Barcelona's goal easier to break down. But of course it wasn't entirely Inaki Pena's fault, but Barcelona's defense was also questionable because it was so weak that the opposing players were very free to kick towards the goal. Weak interceptions and blocks made by defensive players meant that the goalkeeper was also unable to save his goal from being conceded.

I think we already know that since the last time they played against Girona in December last year, the Supercopa final against Real Madrid, against Bilbao in the CDR quarterfinals, until most recently against Villarreal, Barcelona conceded easily and the number of goals was more than 3 goals. This increasingly reflects that they will not be able to win any titles this season. I am very sad to see Barcelona's current performance and again the main responsibility lies with Xavi. After the match against Villarreal, we all know the news circulating that Xavi will leave at the end of the season. Another sad news but actually quite good for Barcelona's future development. However, Xavi is a club legend and also a coach who was quite instrumental for Barcelona last season.

Many people are blaming Xavi for Barcelona's poor performance, but in all honesty, I don't think the coach is at fault because the players are the ones on the field and Barcelona didn't have any other players besides the one Xavi is using to pay for games. So why is everyone blaming the coach when many people don't understand football? In Barcelona's match against Villarreal yesterday, Xavi actually made a good formation and a good substitution that would have won the game, but the players' performance are so bad.

When Villarreal scores two goals, Barcelona leads 3-2. However, before the game is over, Villarreal scores three more goals to win 5-3. The reason for this is entirely the players' fault; the fourth goal Villarreal scores comes from a defensive play by Barcelona player. How can they be playing inside the box when they need to win a match? It's great to hear that Xavi wants to leave the team. We'll see how Barcelona manages to get a good coach, but even if they do, their performance will still be subpar because they didn't sell sell players and didn't sign any new ones.

This performance has been very bad from Barcelona. I think it is actually not a bad decision for Xavi to leave Barcelona. Because if he stays in Barcelona, they might have a very bad result in this season and everything will be blamed on him. Of course, he is not the one to blame. At least not the only one. The authorities of Barcelona are irresponsible and Barcelona as a club has been wasting money. And this is the result they are getting for that. A club cannot survive in the long run if they cannot even register the players that they are trying to acquire.

The current condition of Barcelona is not just due to some mistakes being done this season but Barcelona was decaying from the inside for years. They were doing more politics recently and being Més que un club they forgot how to make a good football club.
Not just the barcagate, Barcelona made controversies on release of both Messi and Neymar mostly because they were struggling to finance the team as they had accumulated huge debt. They would have performed better if they had spent money on players than bribing the referees.
467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 28, 2024, 12:55:18 PM
England beat India by 28 runs in a thriller. Indian middle order failed, and their tail showed some resistance but was unable to save the test match for India. Gill is a continuous flop in the recent innings, but I think he should be given more chances to prove his mettle in red-ball cricket. Ollie Pop played a blinder in the third innings. After seeing the target, I thought India would easily win this match, but 7 wicket haul from Tom Hartley put the final nail in the coffin. Today, every cricket fan witnessed a peak level test cricket where two favourite teams lost their respective matches at home.

Totally unexpected. No one could have predicted India to lose at that target. India had one and a half day to reach 231, all they would have to do was  hold the wickets and they failed exactly to do that. England did bowled in an excellent line and length but still stumping and run out are the stupidest way to get out in a Test and India was successful in getting 3 of them. With that good 1st inning it's surprising how Indian team chocked today. Most credit for the win goes to Ollie Pope who stayed all the way through England's second innings.
There are still 4 more test to be played but England are already in the lead and would come with more confidence on the ground.
468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from crypto influencers on: January 28, 2024, 12:17:33 PM
Stop following crypto influencers, those of you who like using YouTube videos to pick coins and tokens to invest in you need to hear this, those crypto influencers on YouTube are getting paid to promote those projects they are chilling, why would they promise you 2x or 5x when they aren't part of the team themselves? They did this because that's how they make their own money. He who have hears let him hear.

The so called influencers are an advertising agencies. They use their followers as viewers of advertisement and as crypto influencer have crypto based followers, they are a good targeted audience for new crypto projects that wants it's coins to be sold.
It's not that every project advertising are scam but every projects being advertised by these crypto influencer are not labelled as an advertisement but rather sold as investment advice or endorsement. They just shill it so that gullible people would jump into at a higher price. While in reality the influencer has no interest on the project until they were approached for advertising.
469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple looking for ETF, would it be the second one? on: January 27, 2024, 11:59:30 PM
There have been news of Ripple looking for experts to go for XRP ETFs. Considering the centralized nature of Ripple ecosystem and organization, they can be more specific on meeting the demands for being listed as ETF. They also don't have the issues of POS or unlimited supply like Ethereum. They have in past been considered the 2nd most popular altcoin after Ethereum. Would they win over Ethereum this time to be the 2nd crypto based spot ETF available for trading in US market? Is it going to have a positive impact on the price of XRP? How likely are the chances, what do you think about it?

https://finbold.com/ripple-hiring-etf-expert-whats-next-for-xrp/

The listing of Bitcoin ETF was a huge deal as it was the first time traditional investors were able to include bitcoin to their portfolio without knowing and dealing about it's use.
It would come as no surprise for other crypto being accepted as ETF from SEC as the path have already been paved. Being 2nd or 3rd or 26th don't matter now. The most important thing is how much would the investor be willing to have the ETF on their portfolio. The more they get, the more are the tradeable coins frozen which would lead for easier price movement even for larger coins.
470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 27, 2024, 05:26:51 PM
WTF? Las Palmas scored a goal in the 53rd minute to take the lead against Real Madrid. It's probably time to bet on Real Madrid:

2.35 - 3.04 - 3.28

It is unlikely that in other circumstances you can get a bet higher than 3 when Real Madrid plays. There are more than 30 minutes until the end of the game and I think that they will be able to correct the situation.

Real Madrid finally did win with a goal by vinicius junior at 65th min and Tchouameni at 84th. But Las Palmas put on a good fight. Some impressive defense and overall game from Las Palmas but they were unsuccessful in saving the points. Real Madrid are now leading the table and I don't see them coming down for that for this season. Girona is having a match tomorrow but even they did win, they'd have played one match more than Madrid.
471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 27, 2024, 04:52:22 PM
Six of the matches for today over now and it's safe to say that there were no surprises today.
Frankfurt's win against Mainz were expected and Frankfurt were the better team in every expect. Though a low scoring one just 1-0 win in the Frankfurts home game.
Stuttgart 5 - 2 Leipzig. Stuttgart proved it to be a better team and would probably fight with Dortmund for the 3rd and 4th place.
While Bayren won 3-2 against Augsburg, Augsburg too created many good counter-attacks even though they were not in control of the ball for most time. This solidifies the league title race between Bayren and Leverkusen.
A draw 1-1 between Hoffenheim and Heidenheim. Hoffenheim did dominated the game but were unsuccessful in getting the ball to the nets.
A defensive game by Freiburg but they lost 1-3 to attacking Werder. Both of the first 1-1 through penalty.
Wolfsbrug and Koln played a relatively boring 1-1 draw.

Another great example of how a single batter can make a ripple effect on the opposition side. Ollie Pope with the disguise of not being a good spin batter has become an issue with the Indian bowlers. Where three batters from the Indian side were not able to achieve their century. He alone has made it clear that he would get where none of his buddy batters could get. Some well-established batting by this lad as he is now on the verge of getting his 150. He might be able to gain a win for his team if he continuously bats and gets to his double century as it is now so far for him if he gets his 150.

England team did not perform well in the first innings but performed very well in the second innings. Ollie pope has been at his best and is still unbeaten with 148 off 208 balls. If unique batsmen like Ollie Pope could have performed well then surely England team would have been in stronger form. But Ollie Pope is not supported by other batsmen of England team, because with him the unique batsman enters the crease and gets out one after another but still remains unbeaten with good performance. If he performs well tomorrow too, there is definitely a chance of scoring a double century.

Yes England played very well in this innings and scored 316 runs which is a strong performance.  This shows the consistency of his batting line-up.  But India is now becoming a top-class team and they have a potent bowling team that shows success even in such challenging situations.Chasing 316 runs will be tough but India top-order batsmen have done better on similar occasions before.Their current form and skills give confidence that they can achieve this target.  The next part of the match will be vital and it will be seen how India rise to the challenge but as they stand now they have the ability to get those runs.

England had a low scoring 1st inning and are currently leading by only 126 runs. There are two days left and England has just 4 wickets left.
India would be trying to take those remaining 4 wickets tomorrow and any target around 300 would be easily achievable in a day. India is closer to win on this test.
If England wants to save itself from a defeat, they should try to hold onto their wickets the whole fourth day and at least the morning of the 5th which would led to a draw. There's no way they can give a target in the range of 400 and hope to stop India by taking all their wickets. The best England could hope for is a draw.
473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 27, 2024, 01:05:52 PM
In today's 22nd match of the ICC U19 World Cup, New Zealand U19 lost all wickets in 38 overs, setting the Pakistan U19 cricket team a target of 141 runs. A target of 141 runs is a very easy target for Pakistan U19. Pakistan U19 can easily meet this target. Now Pakistan U-19 is batting at a target of 141 runs. Pakistan Under 19 batting started very well. Pakistan U-19 has so far collected 88 runs without losing any wicket in 17.3 overs. Pakistan U19 is going to win this match very easily against New Zealand

First of all New Zealand's batsmen have batted very badly, the target of only 141 runs on this pitch is a very small target. Along with the batsmen, the performance of New Zealand's bowlers is also very poor. Pakistan Under 19 scored 124 runs in 21 overs and they have not lost any wicket yet. Pakistan team now needs only 17 runs in 29 overs. I was looking forward to a competitive match. But the match was completely one-sided.

Scotland set a huge target of 270 runs to South Africa Under-19 team. But even then they are probably going to lose this match. South Africa team has collected 99 runs in only 7 overs. Opener Steve Stolk remains unbeaten with 76 off 27 balls.

Pakistan U19 made a comfortable win against New Zealand U19 with all wickets remaining. Pakistan has placed itself as one of the strongest team for this world cup.
With this the formation of 1st group of super six has been completed, now the top 3 teams of Group A, India, Bangladesh and Ireland and top 3 teams of Group B, Pakistan, New Zealand and Nepal would play another league. This is going to be the tougher group as only the Top 2 would goto semi finals while Group 2 which would be decided later today would have much poorer team to fight along. It would  have been better if the teams of the groups were not totally repeated.
474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: January 27, 2024, 09:47:37 AM
Leverkusen are holding a good advantage of 4 points against Bayern Munich in their hands now. I think Leverkusen will continue on their winning streak today. Their opponent is Gladbach and it is a home game at the same time. Gladbach's performance in away games so far has been horrible. Only 1 win in 8 away games.  Sad

While Xabi Alonso' Leverkusen are doing an incredible work I don't think Gladbach will be able to resist them either. Leverkusen are quite a high-scoring team this season. Thinking of Gladbach's big weaknesses in defense Leverkusen can win by scoring a few goals.  Smiley

Plenty of games today but the ones most important are that of Leverkusen against Monchengladach, Bayren against Augsburg and Stuttgart vs Leipizg.
Leverkusen are really doing a great job and this should be an easy win for them considering the challenge they are facing. Byren vs Augsburg ought to be a more competitive match considering the latest performance of these two teams. Bayren last time faced Augsburg in Allianz Arena which was a high scoring match where Bayren won 5-3.
Stuttgart vs Leipizg both are struggling and a draw between them and Dortmund today winning against Bochum, which is more likely would propel Dortmund to the third position.
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spot Ether ETF Applications Decisions Delayed by SEC on: January 27, 2024, 08:28:02 AM
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission delayed an application by Grayscale Investments to convert its Ethereum trust product (ETHE) into an exchange-traded fund (ETF). One day earlier, the agency did the same regarding BlackRock's application for a similar vehicle.

Spot Ether ETF Applications Decisions Delayed by SEC

This is not surprising at all but do you see SEC has no option to approve the ETF applications now? Because the bitcoin ETFs are already live or they can still reject it due to the nature of PoS mechanism, anything else?

US is a market economy and when something huge as blackrock are into it, I don't think the SEC have enough power to resist it unless it's illegal or fundamentally wrong. The legality of PoS could be a new thing to define with current laws, the authority might have to step in to facilitate the legal hurdles and could take some time but they'll certainly be working to solve it as quick as possible.  There's no basis on stopping Ether ETF when Bitcoin ETF is already live.

How can one control the uncontrollable urge to keep gambling despite the toll it takes on once life.

It's getting worse every day. I'm extremely depressed I have thoughts of unaliving myself more often, some times I feel the betting companies manipulate people spiritually to get them addicted where be playing without plans and strategy. Once a bet place get cut, there is this uncomfortable urge to quickly book another one with the plans of recovering the first money lost but it will end up cutting again.

Seek help. If you want your privacy, you can go for a psychiatry consultant specialized with dealing compulsive gambling.
If you can't afford them, there are NGO and Government established Gambling Clinics and programs that may help you for free providing necessary counseling and support.
If you are in dire situation, many country have helpline to provide solutions through phone. There are many online international platforms like Gamblers Anonymous that provides support groups session.
This article is a good starting point for exploring ways to get rid of your gambling addiction https://www.helpguide.org/articles/addictions/gambling-addiction-and-problem-gambling.htm
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Airdrop season begun? on: January 27, 2024, 05:37:31 AM
With regards to the distribution  of ALT token claim which began yesterday at 12:00PM with 300 million tokens distributed for the first batch of the Airdrop event valued at approximately $96m at the price of $0.32 per token, there has been excitement as to whether Airdrop season is back as Multi-layer roll-up distributor  Dymension is also planning to launch its mainnet in coming days with 70 million DYM token allocated  for the Airdrop event.

What captivated my interest was the drastic surge in the mcap of ALT after launch. With market cap currently around $365M and FDV of over $3B. It's important to note that only 3% of ALT total supply of 10B token was airdropped with top addresses claiming 1.29M and 1.19M tokens worth $420k and $388k respectively at the price of $0.32.

With the current positive price action, this proves that investors are Keen about the project hence the continuous surge in price since listing. Several top Cex have already  listed the token on their platform leaving me with the question if ALT is worth investing in?

Once there are positive movement on crypto, new projects are more likely to issue their tokens. Some projects even wait for such positive sentiment to go with their private sale.
And as people are more willing to buy crypto, a lot of meme coin developers, pump and dump organizers and outright scammers are active on the prospects of making money.
So it results in a boost in number of airdrops being hosted through different means. Airdrop can be a cheaper mean to advertise as the project doesn't have to spend money from their pocket in most cases. The types of airdrops have also varied, currently most project are airdropping for engagement or staking the coins on it's platform than just giving some coins to random addresses.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: January 27, 2024, 02:17:14 AM
Sometimes gambling is a good source of income and sometimes it just ruins the life of a person here my conclusion is that gambling itself is not harmful, the gamblers who are gambling make it harmful. When a person who gambles every Sunday and cashes out a handsome amount of money while on the other hand, a person who can do gambling every day goes into debt. Both are the person one wins and the second loses all the things, the main difference between them is that the first person manages his mindset while the second does not and gets addicted. Remember once a person gets addicted he/she will never take care of anything the only thing to focus on is to win the gambling again and again and we all know that a person can not win all his shots sometimes he will win and sometimes he will lose.

By concluding your opinion above, gambling does not always harm oneself and gambling does not always make us profitable, as long as it depends on the individual gambler. If the gambler can control himself and put himself in the right position then in my opinion he will gamble safely, whereas if the gambler gambles too much then in my opinion it is impossible for him not to lose precisely because of his excessive nature and greed. causes huge financial losses, and it is important to remember that gambling relies solely on luck.

It does depend on the individual how they handle the gambling but most of the people break and can't have control over themselves when they are into compulsive gambling.
There are a lot of people who after losing chooses crime or violence. The gambling losers are more likely to take up crime like theft and frauds. They don't think much of the future till they get money for now. They believe they could win and get their lives straight but they go deeper in debts and people expecting money, criminal cases of frauds.
They lose their family and also make them financially and socially vulnerable. Compulsive gamblers should take help as soon as they realize it.
479  Economy / Economics / Re: Save while young better than wait on: January 27, 2024, 01:26:01 AM
Look, you can be old and rich or young an poor, but being old and poor is bad shit.

A surefire way of doing the wrong kind of things is to spend your money early or try to live a good life quickly without thinking about the future. Or if you have an ok job or income to think that is enough, even if you cannot save.

All young people, understand that time an money are linked. It is not the same to invest early than late, it is not the same  to invest more early that try to invest more later. 100 is worth 100 today, but 800 in 20 years if you play it safe but well. Make no mistake, you will need to start creating your wealth.

It's about achieving the balance between today and the future. Everyone should have a retirement plan, some way of passive income stream till you survive.
Planning for future is something everyone must do without fail but it's also not worth living your present in the anticipation of hard times in the future. We should be enjoying our lives when we are young and able. Life wouldn't be as fun in the old age as it's today. Even though 100 may be worth 800 in the future but due to inflation, it might not be able to provide what 100 gives you today. And it would certainly not provide the youth energy and state of body.

Yesterday was trying to place bet and during the process something in me keeps telling me to increase your wager do you know if you would hit something you never won before.. I was like is this how other people are being controlled by gambling or is it how it works? I said, no wonder some people gamble and finishes their allocation for the week or month. This can even lead someone to also go borrow if this feeling is not killed and stop, you can also see that this attributes in gambling addiction.

However, have you had this feeling while gambling before be it offline casino and online casinos?

There are two types of gambling I indulge in and I treat and look at them differently. Sports betting and other casino games.
My sports betting are of two kinds. One where I plan beforehand, had my stats, following every football leagues, teams, players, their performance against the opponent at home and away. I have proper budgeting and what to do on loss and what to do on win.
The next sports betting are as a fan where I have no sense of being right but thrill for betting on a team. It's much rarer and riskier.
My casino gambling are also either planned or unplanned. The loses are acquired on unplanned gambling are more but the amount I bet are on planned betting. When I'm gambling with no plans, there are no budget or strategy restriction stopping me from rage betting.
