"debunking" a claim I did not make is not a premise.

Are you serious right now??? Explain this...

Quote
I have done a LOT of research on UBI and economics in general and it will have destructive effects long term if not immediately after implementation due to the basic laws of economics and psychology of human motivation mentioned above.

From your responses, I feel like you haven't done shit... I will wait for your sources to prove that humans become lazy/unwilling to work if they are provided with free money. I'm not a big fan of pseudoscience, I would love to see real-world results...

Quote
BTW, Canada still operates under Capitalism.

Why is it hard for you to grasp the fact that UBI will work under "Capitalism".

If you can't come up with proves to back your claims there is no point in debating this out. I have provided mine, its time you provided yours.

The market price signalling will still be corrupted, and inflation will still be a factor because the most in-demand goods will be less available and have to rise in price to meet demand.

Why are you assuming that the production won't rise? Automation/Technology is already helping us to overproduce. We are closer to the post-scarcity era than you think. Like even if Apple wanted to give out 8 billion iPhones for free they could be produced in this day and age. We aren't living in the 50s. Technology is there and is improving constantly. Also, Laws of economics aren't set in stone like laws of nature. People like you need to understand that. Why do you assume that governments will print out money to pay for UBI? That's not the case. The idea of UBI is to shift the money from one class to another, So inflation isn't an issue with UBI.

Quote
You might want to look up "the tragedy of the commons".

You throw out terms like "tragedy of the commons" but fail to cite sources where this was actually proved...

Quote
Yes, you won't tell me. How convenient you can't even clearly and simply define your premise and rely on some video to think for you.

Alright, let's start with Debunking the Stereotype of the Lazy Welfare Recipient: Evidence from Cash Transfer Programs Link: https://academic.oup.com/wbro/article/32/2/155/4098285

Since you are going to accept whatever I say as truth.  The trails done in Canada in the 1970s showed that less than 1% of the participants left their work. Those who left their jobs were moms who left work for taking care of their newborns. Also, participants reduced their work hours by less than 10% on average and those who did, they spent their time looking for new jobs or going back to school to learn new skills. I mean what more can you ask?

Maxwell played well

Lol, You have got to be kidding me. Just shows you didn't even bother watching the match. The dude survived cuz of two dropped catches. It was another shitshow by the Aussies, Kinda Disappointed. They had another collapse in the middle order today and were a bit unlucky with D'arcy Short's runout decision but that doesn't change the fact that they chocked again. I mean the pitch wasn't deadly, it wasn't breaking at 90 degrees, everything was manageable till they decided to mess it up again. I mean how hard is to rotate the strike. Imad went for only 8 runs in his 4 overs that too in the powerplay. I mean I don't have words for how poorly Australia has performed in this tour.

Thanks for the perfect example that UBI is just re-branded Socialism.

See this is the issue here, You think that people will get paid by a "state" which isn't true. People will most likely get "paid" from the people who own the means of production. I mean as long as people can own the mean of production and produce whatever they want, free from "state" intervention you can't call it socialism. It is capitalism of sorts but the "profit" being the wellbeing of the society.

Please do explain specifically what "Has been proved wrong countless times".

The video gives clear examples of countries where the UBI was tested, again I won't tell you where but feel free to watch it for yourself.

The results beg to differ... Just watch the video already man... The points you have touched are all summed up in there. Just watch it...

Cartoons...always impressive. Pick a premise and support it with sources. Shotgunning links at me is not a debate. if you can't explain your concepts in simple language, what makes you think you are going to convince anyone else?

Lol, Why waste my energy on explaining something which has been "perfectly" explained in a short video??? I am here to point you in the right direction, not to convince you that UBI is good. How can i convince you that something is "Good" when it hasn't been even defined properly. Each person has their own idea about what "UBI" should be. I mean, to you giving out free money may be considered "UBI" but to me providing someone with free training can be considered UBI too. One of the points which the "cartoons" point out.

Also, Its just a single video, Not "Shotgunning links" at you in any way. I mean if you are really interested in changing your mind or giving "UBI" a chance, You wouldn't mind doing a bit of research or would you? I will not spoon-feed you the information you require If that's what you are looking for, I am not your guy.

@ladysmith Just nailed it. It is our desire to cheat death which has led us to this point. I mean just look at our history, Man was always drawn to things like "Fountain of youth" from the beginning of time. What I wonder often these days is once we have merged with the machines and have made our consciousness immortal. What our next big desire will be? Will, we still pursue something like AI? Like a decade ago, Quantum computers were considered extremely powerful tools which would help us unlock the secrets of the universe and immortality. AI has snatched the spotlight from them for some reason. I wonder why... I mean we are much closer to quantum computers than something Like Technological singularity and yet we aren't hearing about them often. I Guess our priorities have shifted...

Furthermore money for nothing will pervert market signaling and create inflation and scarcity of the most in demand products, essentially bringing us full circle right back to where we started with haves and have nots.

Has been proved wrong countless times, Just Look at countries like Denmark. Where students literally get paid to attend college and guess what? They have one of the highest literacy rates in the world. BTW Most UBI systems are being designed to help those who are "working" on low wages. You aren't getting paid for doing "nothing". It's a system for people who are struggling. There is a difference between free money and helping the struggling class...
470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Lazy miner, what to mine AMD and NVIDIA on: October 25, 2018, 05:54:31 PM
Since you are "lazy". Follow the following steps.

1) Prepare the rigs, Assemble them. Or ask someone to assemble them for you since you are lazy. Smiley
2) Once the Rigs are Assembled, Turn them on and open Microsoft Edge.
3) Goto Nicehash.com
4) Download their legacy miner.
5) Install/Extract the file you downloaded.
6) Double click the nicehashlegacy.exe
7) Benchmark your rigs.
8.) Hit start and go watch some Netflix.
9) Withdraw to coinbase, when you have earned 0.001 BTC Smiley

Hope that covers it for you...

472  Other / Meta / Re: What's more important to judge whether or not I should be trusted? on: October 25, 2018, 04:29:31 PM
Just turn both of feedbacks to neutral... End of story.
Since we're in crypto, another outside the box idea:
1. Both parties write a message in which they explain what they're going to do with the trust they left the other person. Keep the message, don't post it.
2. Both parties sign that message with a Bitcoin address they choose.
3. Both parties post the signature and Bitcoin address.
4. Once both parties have posted the signatures, they both post the message and do as it says.

This gives both parties the possibility to make a decision completely independent of what the other party does. Needless to say: step 4 should be followed through entirely.

Whatever ends this simple issue, I am down for it.

There is no perfect, or even good, solution here. Leaving things as they are is one. LoyceV's suggestion is another, as is The Pharmacist's own suggestion regarding when he removes negative trust. Mutual or one-sided neutral trust is also a possibility.

Just turn both of feedbacks to neutral... End of story.

Just Read the article, BTW here is the actual link to the article: https://www.livebitcoinnews.com/crypto-challenges-come-to-dota-2-with-firstblood-dapp/

The concept is definitely not unique, The only issue I have with something like this is how they will ensure that people didn't use hacks to win the match, Many pro-players are considered to be hacking when they usually play against noobs. I get it that there will be a match referee and a witness But these hacks are quite subtle and they are hard to detect. Plus whats stopping players to use something like OpenAI. They can literally make a bank if they secretly use it to play against random people.

The dream scenario for FirstBlood team would be if they could Partner up with OpenAI and give like Couple of thousand dollars to anyone who manages to defeat OpenAI. It has almost become impossible to defeat OpenAI in Dota 2 Solos. Anyway, the potential is huge. I hope they do its marketing right. This could bring in many new people to the world of cryptos.

Quote
But betting online with your own play in DOTA2 seem's like there would be a lot of player who would like to do it.

All they need to do is introduce some sort of a faucet or a daily reward system and this could go big among Dota 2 players.

477  Other / Meta / Re: What's more important to judge whether or not I should be trusted? on: October 25, 2018, 01:54:06 PM
@The Pharmacist, Humans are prone to make errors in judgement and this case is the perfect example of it. Tagging OP was a bit harsh TBH and could be considered Abuse of Trust system but we can't ignore all the good work you have done for the community. Loyce has suggested the best solution IMO. I mean removing the Negative would be a good start to correct your "error" and I hope the OP can let you off too. Being a DT member comes with responsibility and there are cases like OP's where leaving a neutral trust is a better solution than giving a negative one right away. Just my 2 satoshis.

Not sure if that's actually a solution. In case an exchange gets hacked, they tend to 'socialize' the losses, which means that even the traders using the 'cold' side of the platform will be affected.

But with doing something like coinbase's tents. They won't have an excuse. The 'cold' side will ensure things like creating private keys in a "total offline" condition. I mean, I am not surprised that coinbase hasn't been hacked so far. That article was an excellent read. It makes total sense to me to take extra precautions like they do and should be industry standard if you ask me. I mean I kind of blame the users too for using these random exchanges who don't take their security seriously. I would gladly pay an additional 1% fee if that will mean my coins will be held safe in a "Bank like bunker".

What in the world is happening in UAE right now? 22 for 6 for Australia. Shocked

This one is probably going to be an easy win for Pakistanis.

Lol, They got bowled out for 89. What were they thinking? I mean it was only 155 on the board and they were playing as if they were chasing down 200. Poor Batting by the Aussies. Nothing to blame except the batting. Dunno what caused them to panic. They only needed one good partnership at the top and they would have easily gotten over the line. But I must not take credit away from Pakistan. They are the number 1 t20 team for a reason and they just showed us again how lethal they can be on their day. Hopefully, we don't see a blunder like this in the 2nd match. Good Luck to both the teams!
480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: October 24, 2018, 01:23:39 AM
Yesterday, ICC announced the updated ranking of Test batsmen and bowlers; it's interesting to see that Mohammad Abbas is now in top three bowlers of the world in Test cricket! Shocked

Bowlers

1 James Anderson (Eng) 899 points

2 Kagiso Rabada (SA) 882

3 Mohammad Abbas (Pak) 829

4 Vernon Philander (SA) 826

5 Ravindra Jadeja (Ind) 812

We haven't seen him bowl on the decks of Australia and South Africa yet, I am sure he will be even more lethal where the pitches will assist him. The Lad sure does have some genuine swing which he gets from his bowling action and his Pace is decent too. I recently saw a tweet from Dale Steyn in which he said Abbas will most likely dethrone the current Number 1 test baller. You have to be special to get that sort of compliment from him. I hope he doesn't go down the road of spot-fixing. Pakistan surely doesn't need another drama after what happened with sharjeel in the PSL.
