Well I'll tell you now from me mining that i I HAVE NOT LOST $ ANY MONTH during this downturn.  If you all have then I don't know what to tell you.  Numbers don't lie.  Either way, I could give a damn what you all do.  I know where my break even is and even if I ever dip a below it my machines stay on, BECAUSE I KNOW prices will rise you just have to be patient.

Even with 0.15$/Kwh I wasn't either. I was still 'racking' in like $15 per rig after the costs. But the time I had to spend diagnosing things wasn't worth it all. Sometimes a riser would malfunction others the pool would just temporary ban my rigs for not sending in enough shares. I had GTX 1070s in all of my rigs. It's just that I could do better things with my time than diagnosing different issues every other day.

Or let me put it this way.  In the  time spent researching new coins, downloading new miners, driver updates treaks etc, most miners could make more daily doing tasks on Amazon Mechanical Turk

This! I was losing time for my freelancing. I am glad I took the right step.

Don't get me wrong I agree that profits suck right now, but they are still profits.  I have always said, if you have to sell coin now to pay your electric bill then sell your stuff off as you will not make it.  If you can hold it, keep on mining.

For me it was from day 1, All of my costs were getting covered by mining. The bull run helped me achieve the ROI thankfully. But I am a bit tired of 'speculative mining' i have nothing against people who are doing it. I respect their decision But I have had my fair share of the mining venture and currently, mining isn't for me.

I would be interested to know what people believe the next hot commodity will be in the era succeeding an information age. Will it be defined in terms of AI? Perhaps some other innovation or breakthrough?

I don't think AI will take over data as the hot commodity. They sure will go big but they won't replace data as the 'hot commodity'. You need data to make your AI smarter. The more data you have the better you can train your AI. BTW we still haven't finished mining data. We are still far from the day where there will be no user data to be mined. Around 3.2 Billion people still have no access to the internet. The market is still there and is still booming and it's becoming cheaper by the day to get hold of valuable data. According to a youtube video I saw, A Facebook's user data is only worth $12 to Facebook, Which is frightening if you ask me. Facebook knows things about you more than your closest family members do and they think that you are only worth $12 for them.

The Terrifying Cost of "Free” Websites

Data isn't going anywhere it will only evolve further. RealTime Data mining and IoT will be the next big thing.

1-2% house edge? are you sure you have heard what binary option is?
it is not your usual dice provably fair casino, may want to read here:
https://www.forextraders.com/binary-options/binary-options-trading-explained/

Yeah, The highest return I have seen from binary options is around 86%.

Would it make you think that the site will be fairer if it used a regulated market index like the Nasdaq instead of the price of bitcoin in Bitfinex? It would be better, I reckon. Less suspicions of price manipulation.

No, it won't. You can never be sure about what's going on behind the scene.

In any case, asking for provably fair in the sense that it is free from manipulation is asking for the impossible.

Exactly! So I would rather gamble on something which is provable-fair than something which can't be free from manipulation.

Lol, Austrailia got demolished by Mohammad Abbas. If Pakistan can take the lead to around 400 mark it will be game over for Austrailia.

@kingzee I came to bitcointalk for freelancing and not for signature campaigns. When I joined there was only 1 signature campaign going around which was of prime dice. So your idea about people coming here to make money is the right one but I strongly agree with hilarious, you don't want to pay people who bash random keys on their keyboard and make more money than a salaryman in their country. The opportunity which Bitcointalk presents has made money people 'lazy' TBH. You can still make money in many different ways. Just visit the marketplace there are all sorts of tasks for everyone.

I mean fuck off, over a 1000 words written the last 24 hours and still barely at +3 merit, which brings me to your next point.

I often hear that most legendary users got their merit through the airdrop. It's true. Many people got it from the airdrop but the problem here is you think of merit as bitcoin. People could 'mine' bitcoin through CPUs and GPUs back in the day. Any bitcoin 'miner' today could complain about people who got all those bitcoins for merely just being there and doing very 'little effort' to get those BTCs. Being at the right place and at the right time does matter. The amount of 'effort' put by those people in terms of 'hashing' was way lower than we have today and they still got 'paid' more. You may think its the same case with 'merit' but TBH its totally opposite. If you make a half decent post on a topic you have real knowledge of. Merit will find its way to you.

Also, +3 merit in 24 hours isn't bad for casual discussions if you ask me. Many people struggle to get merit a week. You will eventually get there if you keep up your post quality. I will also suggest you be open-minded. There are far better ways to make money than posting random junk on the internet.

506  Other / Meta / Re: Percentage of Merit received on old posts, deleted posts, and average per post on: October 17, 2018, 01:11:19 AM
I know mine lol...

Merit airdrop = 1000
Merit earned after the introduction = 45... 'Technically' just a member for now. A long way from becoming a 'self-made legendary' xDD

507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining Is NOT Profitable In My HOUSE - October 2018 Mining Farm Update on: October 17, 2018, 12:54:21 AM
Mining on video cards is currently profitable only with a low price of electricity of about 6-7 cents per kilowatt and below. At the same time, the profit is very small and the number of profitable coins for mining has significantly decreased due to the appearance of many ASICs.

about 12 cents is still profitable on eth on a 470 doing 28 hash.  Not sure what you are talking about.   Tongue

You are trolling, right? $4 after a month of mining assuming that the price won't go down is stupid, Mining for making a 'Profit' doesn't make any sense right now. The only way you can justify mining at those rates is if you are looking for virgin coins. That way paying a low premium does make sense Other than that it's pure 'speculative mining' which I haven't been a fan of lately.
508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining Is NOT Profitable In My HOUSE - October 2018 Mining Farm Update on: October 16, 2018, 09:08:33 PM
I stopped mining around 2 months ago. I have 0.15$/Kwh, I was mining for peanuts but I had it enough and Sold out 80% of my farm. I occasionally mine on my remaining rigs. I was thinking about going solar but it doesn't make any sense to me. I will be hardly making my ROI in the long run. The only value I saw in solar was I could completely go grid-free after breaking even and selling out the farm. But I couldn't invest in it due to different issues. I have had my fair share of 'speculative mining' too. It is time to move on I guess.
509  Other / Meta / Re: New form of shit-posting on: October 16, 2018, 02:37:57 PM
These threads clearly belong to the press section with proper formatting. They are definitely shitposting IMO. If they don't know where these threads belong give them a warning just like hilarious said and if they still continue to post these thread it will become clear that they don't care about their post quality. Just like pharmacist mentioned there are people in press section who actually point out newsworthy stuff, but I have seen *spammers* in the press section too. They don't care to add any of their thoughts and just link up to the articles, making it "Ez" for them to get paid. If you ask me, there should be a rule of sorts that the OP's signature won't appear if they start a thread in the spam infested boards. This should reduce the spam we get from useless new topics.
510  Other / Meta / Re: How to report post burster? on: October 15, 2018, 05:16:05 PM
Are you for real? You said you have seen people doing this stuff. I didn't ask for an example. I asked whether you have proof of what you are claiming or not. BTW I am against what you are suggesting, now I want to see your proof of users involved in such behaviour. You are sounding like a troll right now.
511  Other / Meta / Re: How to report post burster? on: October 15, 2018, 03:47:31 PM

I've never seen anyone do that in a regular thread, and in any case I'm not even sure that's against the rules.

Yeah, same. I haven't encountered these 'high ranked' members doing this kind of stuff. Reporting to the campaign manager should be the first step. This is definitely shady IMO. They shouldn't get paid if you ask me. OP do you have a list of users who are doing this? If you got pages archived of before and after they edited, that should be definite proof against them.
512  Other / Meta / Re: Where to run a spam free bounty campaign? [new board?] on: October 15, 2018, 01:32:37 PM
I dunno about a separate board Loyce but I will suggest you run an ad on bitcointalk. Your thread might get buried but the ad will continue to provide the exposure needed. At least you won't be paying spammers this way. Also, I like what @DdmrDdmr suggested. A sorting based on Merit earned by members sounds good.

Hey ilya can you pm me your portfolio? I am looking for a developer partner for my personal project. It is not related to blockchain just a headsup. Let me know if you will be willing to work on something not related to blockchian.

Here, I will highlight an important part which you guys skipped.

'Provable fair' in the sense of free from 'manipulation'.

I know how the traditional 'Provable fairness' works and how it can't be used for binary trading or any sort of trading at all.

Drama...  Let's see what Khabib does at the NSAC hearing.  And his Instagram message is more about the double standards in the UFC followed by what looked like a bluff.  You know...  Just like what little kids do on a tantrum...?  Cheesy  But we'll see.

Yeah, lets 'see'...

You appear to be trying too hard by using that as an argument. It's silly hehehe. I reckon a real whale will not be so foolish to do all the work to open a binary options site and do more work to manipulate the market just to make small returns.

So what? it's a valid one. Plus it doesn't have to be a whale to manipulate the price. It can be a pump and dump group trying to make more money. The only thing 'silly' here is you trying to troll people and failing badly at it... :3 Tongue

I and my team can help you. Connect with us on the telegram @csankur for the further discussion.

I am not looking for a team, unfortunately... I want a solo dev who can work closely with me. Thanks for the offer btw.
519  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stockr.co - Bet on hourly and daily candle changes! on: October 12, 2018, 11:35:28 AM
I am seeing such games since 2014. Unfortunately, these type of games are not provably fair.

Not provably fair how? There are no random number generators used in the game. The game is only about betting on the price of a coin if it goes high or low. Also, everything is based on the prices of the major cryptocoin markets in Bitfinex. It is not a dice game.

'Provable fair' in the sense of free from 'manipulation'. What makes you think OP isn't a whale and can't manipulate the bitcoin price at bitfinex? Let's say I max bet on BTC that it will be above $6200 in an hour and OP has a good chunk of BTCs and can manipulate the price to drop below $6200. He wins all the bets plus by backs at the lower price due to panic sellers. He makes a good chunk of money in an hour and there is no way for the gambler to verify that the manipulation was done by OP or some other whale. While the opposite is also true, Some 'whale' can make them go Bankrupt by manipulating the price on bitfinex in his favour.

“And one more thing, you can keep my money that you are withholding. You are pretty busy with that, I hope it won’t get stuck in your throat. We have defended our honour and this is the most important thing. We intend to go to the end.”

This is from the article from Baofeng shared. I guess you are not good at reading people. People actually care about their honour and 'brotherhood'. I have studied these 'religious' people. They don't care about 'materialistic' things. Bonds are the most valuable things for them and they will do anything to make sure it says intact.
