521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Reduces Block Reward | ETH GPU Mining Will No Longer Be Profitable on: September 09, 2018, 09:22:48 PM
such a doom and gloom post.

profits will diminish.

the difficulty bomb has begun to take effect, so you can expect at least 10% faster blocks (2 second average) after fork.

plus due to the diminished block reward some farms hanging in the balance will be closing shop and selling their wares.

there are plenty of markets that will still be profitable with gpu's and E3's.

we're all on borrowed time anyways casper's POS was assumed implemented in full this time last year..

there is always classic for the holdouts if they care to adjust their philosophy to match where the money flows.

the block halving comment was interesting but its generally in 2-3 year intervals.. and dictated from genesis block. this is a bit more contreversial as the devs have some back and forth to decide how to move forward.

I like the decision, and I mine. its inportant not have have all your eggs in one basket as well as understanding perspective of the big picture.

Looking at the "Average Block Time" chart over at etherscan shows that the difficulty bomb hasn't started yet. Our average block times are still around 14-15 seconds unlike 30 seconds last Oct-Nov.

So this issuance wont be like last year where we get reduced rewards but faster block times, it will basically cut profits by 33%.

I also glanced over the hashrate chart and it seems like it's going down a little, I think last June we had this difficulty. However it could all still be variance.

BCI team implements ProgPow in a few weeks
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2616641.0

Its not variance , GPU miners are leaving, monero is same profit as ETH and they are forking asics and fpgas,

bitcoin Interest just did what the eth devs said could not be done int three months in two weeks :
BCI team did all this -
- Implemented a working stable Miner for AMD and Nividia for ProgPOW,
- built their own pool and solo stratum implementation
- Implemented ProgPOW on their block-chain and even rolled it back to block one to reduce the chain size and then re-synched all the old coins to the new chain in the first 850 blocks
-Deployed from testnet to production with new wallets and builds for the pool implementation, miners and stratum implemenation.

All this in a few weeks lol  , I though the ethereum devs were supposed to be the best in the business, youre telling they could not even have tweaked the ethhash algo to fork asics let alone
implemented ProgPow if a small team of 3-4 with the help of the OhGod team could do all this in a few weeks ? GTFO.

This is why the Ethereum is dropping in value , thier dev teams are not innovating anymore , or at least pushing the evelope i.e  getting things done
I'm a dev myself , I know there are delays and risks and such to update and upgrading code and co-dependent systems but its like they are sleep-walking right now, they are definatly not as hungry as they used to be
they sounded more like Finacial guys than developers in thier meetings more interested in monetary policy  that playing with new code and concepts like ProgPOW.

personally my 8GH is off eth and split between BCI and XMR,  XMR basically after power costs has been identical in profits to Eth , for a while now

Do you have only one GPU? Is the miner just freezes, or crashes? Please try the new 3.5b version, which may fix the problem. Here is how to download and verify it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.msg45442768#msg45442768

Using 3.5a and can not get it to work. I have Gigabyte Vega56 oc gaming with regmod Burnsted editor.

Everytime I launch it connects fine, acts like it is mining but hash rate is 0 then crashes after a while. I can run stable on Fireice currently 1900 h/s. Do you have any recommendations to get stable in Phoenix or even to get any hash rate at all?
It's possible that your OC settings are not stable for ETH mining. Vega is notoriously power hungry, so we suggest to start with fairly low core clocks (around or under 1000 Mhz) and power limit -10% or even less. If the problem persists, you can try he new 3.5b version, which may fix the problem. Here is how to download and verify it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2647654.msg45442768#msg45442768. If nothing else helps, please send the log from the beginning to see if the DAG is constructed properly, etc.

3.5a won't start at all, 3.0c working perfectly since release

https://imgur.com/a/kTCssZG    its normal?? Thats -clgreen 1
Yes, the optimal GT values for the green kernels are completely different from the other kernels (just as the GT values for -clkernel 1 and -clkernel 2 are usually also quite different from each other). So, you are doing the right thing letting auto-tune to find them. Also, please note that even if all GPUs are the same model, there are always differences and not every time the optimal GT values are the same.

3.5 working fine with 14 GPU rig (nvidia), no difference in hashrate, same stable as 3.0

I finally gave it a try now that profitability has tanked and I was shutting my farm down.
Good miner, similar to Claymore, easy to setup and use and lots of information displayed.

Works well on my AMD Rx 570's, with maximum tweaking I am getting about 0.2 mh per care more with Phoenix and consuming 4W power less compared to claymores.
Also this miner has a lower devfee, so theres three title advantages in all - 1% extra hash rate, 4% lower power, and 0.35% lower fee.
If I ever boot up my farm again, I would use this miner going forward. Also appreciate the regular updates to it, which hasn't been the case for claymores.
Good news! Smiley Almost every message after releasing new version is about problems (which is quite normal and alright), so it's quite nice to get a few positive reports. Don't hesitate to write us with any ideas for improvements, etc.
ok ill try the new version

But in your Excel sheet you show 42 gpus only? Sorry I'm at a noisy place. Am I missed something? I know you are an experienced miner, why aren't you try your luck with solo mining?

Solo with 50?  LOL You have better odds hitting the lottery.

It's called the safe play.  Hell I have many more than vosk and I would never dare of solo now unless some new coin came out I wanted to destroy.

50ghs is a sick amount of hash , solo should be easy

BCI is forking from equihash
When is it forking from Equihash? No information on their Web site

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2616641.0

yeah its not widely publicized, but there
is only 2.15 MSol/s on thier network.

is that 2,100,000 sols?  if so thats like only 210 z9s
worth of hash.  It should barely affect profiblity.

it was 10 times more than that a few days ago tho, ppl are leaving the network
bc the rewards have stopped i hear for last 100 blocks
529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50 GPU Mining Farm Earns Less Than $10 A Day - VoskCoin Mining Farm Profits on: September 06, 2018, 06:21:15 PM
Miners are the winners here ,when GPU mining ,either making less than a dollar you are still getting coins that will surely double your earnings ,price is down coins are not...sooner or later it will moon.

I agree, small miners who don’t dump all thier crypto to pay bills win in these kinda times since its basically a hobby you can affort to sit on ur crypto.   Last time my mistake is  i sold too soon.  thiz time im waiting till btc cressts 30k to sell so i can retire

who is connecting ? hash rates seem the same
531  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50 GPU Mining Farm Earns Less Than $10 A Day - VoskCoin Mining Farm Profits on: September 06, 2018, 05:05:38 PM
Key though, you are still earning 10$ a day.  Yeah it sucks but if you saw 10$ in the street you wouldn't walk over it would you?

I have 50gh on eth and seeing that price drop is very crappy, damn you goldman sachs!  It will recover and honestly if i had extra $ i'd buy all the eth i could.
I wouldn't. I just don't like ETH anymore. The chain is bloated, the devs don't know what they want, keep pushing back on deadlines, and to top it off, are still unable to distribute a working core wallet. The latest version does not allow you to send coins or tokens. Go figure.

If I was able to sell the ETH that are stuck in my wallet, I'd buy XMR. Or RVN. In a heartbeat.
50gh on eth thats asics? , I like this drop since asics can only mine eth ,
hope it goes to $100 so those E3s become papper weights while we switch to monero

No asics.  All machines.  I am still optemistic on eth so thats what i mine.  Jumping from coin to coin daily is just not worth it for me as i have too many machines to move even in linux with a global change.

crazy , well you could move maybe 20% of them to monero ,

personally i have 40 machines and i have 10 on awesominer mining btc via profit switiching 20 on monero and 10 on eth
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm mining at a loss on: September 06, 2018, 05:04:23 PM
No such thing as mining at a loss,my advice is always mine the most profitable coin ,not is $ but in how many pieces of coins you can get ,always watch the difficulty rate ,more coins more cash when bull run occurs

exactly , its beter to mine at break even or even a small loss than buy crytpo right now becase crypto prices are going down alot, at least mining you can hedge your bets with hardware if you have to exit and sell
you gpus when the next gpu shortage happens
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm mining at a loss on: September 06, 2018, 05:02:45 PM
I never understood why people would mine at a loss. It is basically the same thing as paying more than the exchange rate for a coin. Simply buy the coin directly and save your money.
This is simple and logical and the right thing to do. Even so, many people will continue mining simply because they are used to mine something. Inertia is a powerful thing. And I don't blame them. It may turn out that they will cover their losses in the future. It may also turn out that the coins they are mining won't survive this bear market. Also possible. I mined a coin once for a week or so in hope for a future profit, but it never materialized.

this makes no sense, to buy those cryptos without mining you would have to either sell your gear ( terrible idea in a bear market , prices are low right now so it is dumb to sell atm) or spend real FIAT on assets that are going down every week

534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50 GPU Mining Farm Earns Less Than $10 A Day - VoskCoin Mining Farm Profits on: September 06, 2018, 03:24:22 PM
xrp is $20 more profitable than eth atm and this diffeence will grow with the new
monero fork in the next few weeks.

Eth mining is Asic anyways , 60 percent i suspect is asics , All these asic owners will be dumping what they mine even harder now , think aboit all the inno Asics pre ordered aboit to hit the network soon.

glad i own gpus not asics , flexibility is important in down turns

Where can you find that 1200 BBP = 28$???
https://coinslift.com/biblepay_usd/
if I check here, 1200 BBP = 0.8$. Now you're very far from your profitability calculation Sad

best profitable BIBLEPAY ... very easy setup.... and very smart dev..... interesting project
and amazing is that when im mining BBP im getting ByteBall......

I dont see any pofit in biblepay
why you dont see:

posted from main channel from user SLOVAKIA exp: ryzen 7= 1200BBP+0.25BB monthly = profit is 20$ (BB)+28$(BBP)-13$(el.bill)= 35$

https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/top_teams.php

We're the number 3 team ALL TIME at Rosetta@home, set to be number two by mid-October.  And number one in RAC there.  We're number 89 all time at World Community Grid and should break into the top 50 by the end of the year, all while being the fifth highest there in RAC
And double dipping is so good, when i can to mine 2 coins at same time  Wink

Fully agree - the only thing I can see about biblepay are the shills spamming every CPU-mining thread.
but you are forgiven
lol $28 to .08 way way off

Miner is ready, we will add it today to our homepage (bitcoininterest.io)

Fork is less than 24h away, after that miner will be on our "official" pool too, https://pool.bci-server.com/

Fork is on block 542524, MINERS! stop mining 100 blocks before the fork block, immature coins wont be transferred to new chain!.. Dont do transfers on fotk block either! Only CONFIRMED balances on block 542524 will be transferred to new chain!!

After the fork block new chain starts in few hours, we estimate around 3-4 hours (shouldnt take longer) to transfer the wallet balances to new chain. After that mining is open, exchange wallets open then too. Bitfinex has confirmed they can do this tomorrow, tradesatoshi most likely too, hitbtc cant (surprise!!) and i think it takes a week more for them (hitbtc).

Rough hashrates:

1050ti / RX460/560 4-5mh
1060 (3gb/6gb) / RX470/570 8mh
RX480/580 10mh
1070 11mh
1070ti 13mh
Vega56 15-16mh
1080 16-17mh
Vega64 17mh
1080ti 20mh (gets to 22mh with full wattage)

@BciInterest thanks for posting those details.  Can you also post a link to your modifed stratum code
for pools or better yet your fork for nomp on github where you made those changes for pool, operators?

I wpuld like to test the changes on trstnet on my pool before the actual fork, if possible.  I know you folks are busy but your telegram is flooded with airdrop code requests, ifs hard to get meaningful technical details

thanks
