541  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: The matter is pending on: September 24, 2023, 08:47:08 AM
Well, what should we do now to solve the problem? Please advise

Look up at what o_e_l_e_o (and also TryNinja) have advised (delete transaction, make new one). Imho that should the proper way to go forward, but I have no actual experience in dropping transactions.
542  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: The matter is pending on: September 24, 2023, 08:36:48 AM
Tx hash 4e0a7d49fec447e02aaebcba7b20b9f41d8 14ec82e9c2892149d4ade8676d2cf

The normal fee today is at least 17-18 sat/vByte (I'd suggest to put even a bit more due to unpredictable batches of transactions pushed now and then).
Your friend has put 3.88 sat/vByte. Do your math.

Even more, most nodes tend to reject tx under 7.38 sat/vByte.
543  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: USB port blocker on: September 24, 2023, 08:32:34 AM
I like a lot the simple solutions proposed here, from gluing to VeraCrypt.
However, there's one more option people tend to underestimate. And imho it's cheap and very easy, especially nowadays when computers tend to no longer be connected to UTP cables (if you use permanent connection via cable, just skip this post).

Boot from an USB stick with Tails OS. Electrum is there and persistence is off. Yes, one will have to enter the 12-24 words every time, not such a big hassle imho (of course, as said, this is not for safeguarding 10$). It doesn't know what's your WiFi so it cannot connect online.
The seed can be stored easily and safely in so many ways it just depends on each and everyone's imagination.

One can steal your computer and will find only the watch only wallet. One can steal the live OS stick and also find nothing. And it's also cheap, since one doesn't necessarily need another computer for this.

Of course, if one wants and can use a separate computer as cold storage, probably VeraCrypt beats this.

Avem o noua actualizare a tabelului:

Cumva am impresia ca mempool si blockchair iau partea leului pe cautari normale.
Deci cumva "tabelul" ramane (cel putin) interesant mai degraba pe partea de "altele". (Sa nu te superi...)

Bineinteles, acest lucru se va schimba in momentul cand "leii" vor avea probleme si lumea va cauta sa se reorienteze...
Oricum, multumesc pentru efort.
545  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the most effective campaign methods in 2023? on: September 23, 2023, 02:34:51 PM
As there are multiple ways to get your crypto project to the public, but what are the recommended ways now adays?

Most already said, but I'll make an ordered list of what I think it matters the most:
* review campaigns
* allow - where possible - using your crypto project for free (for limited time, for limited amounts of money), so even those not in the review campaigns can take a look without paying
* signature campaigns (awareness)
* social media campaigns (I've seen this used mostly to create a short lived hype, but it's not always working)

I will add that if you go with a presence on this forum, an official account (and ANNouncement) are pretty much mandatory, so people know where to turn in case of .. anything (it can do wonders in topics the support fails).

549  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Are blockchain explorer threat to the privacy ? on: September 23, 2023, 02:08:24 PM
but the coins can be made private if you want.

True that. But from that point on people knows that you own that amount of Bitcoin - in a way or another - and also may be able to track it back to its source(s).
And while you're right, the money can be hidden again, that information can already be a problem for some.

Of course, this doesn't make you wrong, just it's still not 100% the same as they never knew about your stash.

To OP:
While they cannot hack the coins, they can gather information about who has what and what is the trace of that money.
However, if I'd be your friend I would let you check. The more random checks from my IP, the more confused the block explorers may become, so why not? I myself I've checked on block explorers way more of others' transactions than mine.

And to the question of the topic:
Some blockchain explorers are/were even known to be honeypots. Some store information, some maybe not so much. Some people check their transactions, some check others', or others' too. So block explorers cannot have great overall info about everybody using their services. Plus, some users care more than they should, some much less than their should. I think the people should learn to be more careful about their privacy; then (yeah, if ever) block explorers will be just fine. Until then, yes, they are somewhat a threat to privacy. But not much more than the users themselves are a threat to their own privacy.
550  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No matter the pressure don't release on: September 23, 2023, 01:49:55 PM
When you link your bank account with exchanges, banks know the money comes from our crypto transactions.

And while most do care (even too much!), afaik some few others don't. If I'm not wrong (I no longer know for sure, I think N26 was one of them), using those would be an useful direction, if available.
Another good practice can be to not use the same bank for the day job income and for crypto trades.

What I mean by getting payment in different payment methods is that if there are any Bitcoin ATMs, utilize them. Almost every country has some kind of payment method like Cashapp, Perfect Money or others.

Most of those come with extra costs some simply don't want to pay. Plus, lately Bitcoin ATMs ask more and more for ID. So your advise can easily become a trap.

My point overall was that in an ideal world we would be using Bitcoin without any interaction with fiat. In this imperfect world.. everybody has to find his way, just it's best if one makes sure he's careful and knows the pluses and minuses for the choices he makes.

552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No matter the pressure don't release on: September 21, 2023, 02:18:24 PM
Bitcoin is supposed to be for privacy and for being your own bank. You could get your payment via different payment methods. Why bank? Bitcoin is supposed to eliminate the need for banks

Bitcoin should eliminate the need for exchanges too. Bitcoin is best for going to the shop (physically) and pay for some goods you will take home with yourself. Best would be if fiat would be completely off this equation. But it's not.

Now, what you mean by getting your payment different? Best would be face to face, in cash. But we also know that this has issues, from the fact the one who may want to trade with you is probably 1000s of miles away to the fact that face to face money operations face at least the risks of robbery and counterfeit.

And.. yeah, this means we "are back to" exchanges and banks and all the hassle with the (lack of) privacy. And yes, this also means we're using Bitcoin in the wrong way. Sadly. Is there a better option today (apart of moving to El Salvador)? I doubt it.

Don't get me wrong, I completely hate CEX, I hate the charade that is called bitcoin cards with a visa logo, and I hate Binance and CZ probably the most on this entire forum, but let's not ignore facts, CEX are more convenient, that's why they are used because I don't have to contact some stranger, I don't have to log in my bank accounts and make a payment to exactly Quassam Bon Loden of exactly 1446.6 Euros to this account AD1400080001001234567890 and not one wrong letter and number.

Yep, this covers it incredibly well.
553  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No matter the pressure don't release on: September 21, 2023, 04:02:19 AM
In this situation:
CEX - the CEX, their bank, your bank, you
P2P  -the P2P platform, the other guy, the other guy bank, your bank, you

A bit two many peers above 2!

I can't argue with your math, it is correct  Smiley
However, I still think that these p2p exchanges need a better chance simply because they don't get your ID just for trading your pocket money (I don't talk about whales and day traders here).
And correct warnings for avoiding stupid mistakes is imho part of that.
554  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No matter the pressure don't release on: September 20, 2023, 07:11:00 PM
Beginners should never make mistakes to release no matter how long it takes for them to receive payment.
Hold on till everything is settled from both sides.

Yep, this has to be written more often, since I fear that the people used to CEXs can a bit too easy make mistakes and then blame and avoid P2P, and return to CEX, give their ID to everybody and so on, when P2P exchanges should be the norm.

Before executing a trade in any p2p platform, there are several notice and warnings including videos and disclaimers on how to use the services.

True. Still, somehow people tend to "RTFM" only after they get burned. So a couple extra warning signs don't hurt.
555  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Elon Musk keep what he said or not? on: September 20, 2023, 04:07:15 AM
Elon Musk mentioned in 2021 that they will only accept bitcoin for payment again "once miners were using roughly 50% energy sources" with a positive future trend.

Bitcoin mining is proven to be over 50% green for quite some months (it may be more than a year) and Elon didn't move a finger on the matter.
I don't know what you people expect. These rich guys say what suits them best, not what is real. And also do what helps them, not you or us.
556  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Merit] I want to give total 8 merits Newbie to Member {follow instructions } on: September 18, 2023, 05:37:39 PM
but you could have easily shared those 8 merits you have without creating this topic

Exactly. So much fuss for 8 merits... is a bit strange imho. Sorry OP, but imho this is just merit fishing. Don't be mad on me, but this is my take on this thread.
However, good luck to the participants!
557  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: September 18, 2023, 05:30:07 PM
Many people want to know why this Bitcoin price is increasing.

I guess I'm different. I'm curious how did the bears managed to keep the price this low for this long. The halving is almost upon us, ffs! (And the speed of fiat value going down we already know, I hope).

Now some potential answers to your actual questions. Not necessarily correct (!), however:
* traders started leaving the sun, waves and margaritas and moving their arses back to work; after the slow summer ends, the price gets back to normal (i.e. up, in this case)
* miners get somewhat bigger rewards and allow themselves sell cheaper
* some big players are manipulating the price like hell until they fill their coffins
558  Local / Discutii Servicii / Re: [banned mixer] - Premium Bitcoin Mixer | Lansat în 2018 🛡️ on: September 18, 2023, 05:20:12 PM

559  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Loss of assets in hardware wallets?! on: September 18, 2023, 05:04:47 PM
1- Has anyone ever lost cryptocurrencies stored in a hardware wallet? I know that should not buy a second-hand hardware wallet and should buy it from the manufacturer or its authorized representative.

Yes. PS. The HW keeps only seed, not the actual coins.

I mean, is it possible that the manufacturing company (like Ledger, safepal or whatever) tampered with the product from the first? For example, in the production line. For example, the manufacturing company may have stored the words of the device, and after someone makes a purchase and transfers the balance to the hard wallet, the manufacturing company steals them. Has anyone ever reported that they lost their cryptos stored in hardware wallets?

It is possible they would tamper, but quite unlikely too. No reports on that direction anyway (and it would not be easy to prove either).

2- How do I know that the words I received will not be assigned to another user after some time in a hot or cold wallet?

It's not "assigned". Even more, if your HW already has a seed, be wary.
However, you can generate new seed whenever you want (just make sure you keep safe the seed you have money on and not another seed words) and the chance of collision with somebody else's seed is so small it can be safely considered 0.

3- I want to buy ledger nano s plus or safepal s1.  which one is good? (I only want for bitcoin)

I have a Nano S. No issues for years. But: since then Ledger has proven itself risky in handling users' addresses. Since then Ledger came with "seed recovery" feature I am not comfortable with.
So.. choose wisely.
Even more, if you are afraid the manufacturer would tamper with the device, you may also consider adding to the list SeedSigner. It's not a HW "by the book" (for example you will have to do some actions and generate the seed yourself), also I don't own one yet, but imho it worth a look.
