Yes, he doesn't normally leave a position of the forum unappointed when there's a need and someone who can fill the slot.
Potentially produce some sort of shortlist on a thread fore each section that is without a moderator. The shortlist should be Sr members plus at least (theymos isn't going to trust someone who has only been here a few weeks to run a board of the forum - with a higher ranked account there's more for the user to lose).
Although, theymos has made users that have been lower ranked than Sr Member. I believe rickbig was one of these members. Of course, I would agree that higher ranked members have less of a risk associated with them, but certainly not in all cases. Perhaps the OP doesn't know that mods aren't appointed for fun. They are placed on salary. Not sure those local boards he mentioned are worth spending salaries on The "Salaries" that you speak of are a percentage from ad revenue based on an unknown algorithm made by theymos which probably takes into account how much a staff member has done for that period. It wouldn't cost theymos anymore, however it would reduce the earnings of the current moderators.

Lottery is a good way to make money. It was very popular and at first bitcoin had reputation that is gambling currency. Still I think that it's good that bitcoin is making progress each day and getting accepted in different fileds so why lottery wouldn' be one of them. This is very atractive to people and everyone would like to win .
No it's not. It's the complete opposite in fact. It's actually one of the best scam businesses in operation today which is still widely and blindly followed by the masses. This isn't progress for Bitcoin. It might get a little media attention, but certainly isn't anything to trip over about. i would definitely buy this lottery as long as it was being offered by the established lottery company in my country , anyone who knows even a little about the financial benefits to be garnered from bitcoins would be interested so therefore what bitcoins really need is some advertising machinery to get the correct news out there.buying this lottery would be a no brainer for me .
Nah, I doubt anyone with half a brain would be interested in spending their valuable Bitcoin for heavily stacked odds against you to win a large amount of Bitcoin. I guess with your last sentence you've confirmed that you have less than half a brain.

If you aren't getting a message specifically telling you your post was deleted by a moderator then the thread in which you are posting in has been removed; Likely because it's a spamming ground for account farmers and campaign participates.
Also, another reason why your posts might not be updating is because, you have posted in Serious Discussion which doesn't contribute to post count.
Next time, use the search function here on the forum and you'll come to a conclusion without ever needing to open a new thread.

I think you guys are misunderstanding BTCforjoe or maybe I am? But, what I can gather from his reply is that people who are participating in bounty campaigns without posting anywhere else aren't a particularly great member to the forum. As in they don't contribute anything, and only take.
There's many people who don't use signatures to earn, and there's many people who contributed here before campaigns were a big thing and now use them. I might be a little biased here, but I don't see a problem with people posting and earning from it if they were doing that anyway. Even if they are posting more to earn as long as it's of good quality I don't see the issue.

Maybe a solution would be to make impossible to delete a merited post.
I think this can be easily implemented.
If the post is already merited and needs to be deleted, mods could also delete the accounts involved.
A little extreme as a post which is worthy of deletion doesn't always mean that the account should be banned/deleted. I think the better alternative is that once a post has been deleted the merit no longer is credited, and the merit point either gets lost in limbo or refunded back to the original sender.

Suggestion Would it be possible to ignore Newbie-posts when sorting on "Last post" in the Altcoin boards? That would make it impossible for a Newbie to bump a thread (while they can still post). If needed, this can be increased to higher ranks too.
I quite like this suggestion. Would reduce most of the spam, and make legitimate threads with worthy discussion easier to find. I don't see much harm in it either. I guess we'll have a few people complain about equality but, honestly I think the pros greatly outweigh the cons in this. That would work. It would make the use and throw accounts created just for the purpose of bumping ineffective. But it seems to be a solution tailored for this particular problem. You would introduce a layer of complexity, without attacking the root cause.
I'm not normally one for imposing restrictions, but I feel that adding this would be beneficial. You can make a sticky highlighting that newbies can't bump topics, and for those who take no notice of stickies will likely not even notice that the topic isn't getting bumped.

Nice, so all such threads can do this outside this forum and getaway with this excuse.
I think the argument that Quickseller is on referring too is that if an announcement thread was trashed for this without offering an incentive to post competitors of the ICO/Altcoin could sabotage other projects like this. Of course, if the replies don't get removed then it would be giving them free advertising and be pretty counter productive. I think it's just best to report posts that are bumping the thread individually unless, the team is offering an incentive for posting in their threads and then the announcement thread would then be removed which effectively deals with both issues.

Pros: Good posts with merit that has been deleted would be a problem for people COns: It can be a source of merit cheating and post bumping.
Yeah, but if it doesn't exist on the forum anymore then I don't see why they should keep the merit. You could argue that they've made an effort in their post and it deserves to be credited but, I'm against that viewpoint as I see the merit system as somewhere to look for good quality posts and I quite often look at someone's recent merit received to identify some of their better posts. In these situations I think the Cons outweigh the Pros. However, I will say minuscule issues like these probably aren't all that bad, and it would only become an issue if a merit source was doing this or someone exchanging a massive amount of merit points between their alternative accounts. Then again I guess it's easy to identify if this does happen.

I'm guessing this wasn't implemented due to longer code that the person who sent it would need to be refunded etc. But, I don't see why this should get overlooked. If a post that has been merited no longer exists on the board then the merit shouldn't be given neither. Also, as members are raising voice against this problem, more abusers will get to know about this. They will also try to get away with their merit abuses by doing the same thing till a fix is implemented. Is there any page to see recently deleted posts here ?
Only by staff members: https://bitcointalk.org/modlog.phpAlthough, this post and others that are being abused are likely to be deleted by the user and there's no page to my knowledge that shows this.

You aren't going to get many places like here and Reddit which has discussion about news without being censored and has various different opinions, but if you must look at a news outlet I would stay away from the main stream news sites such as the BBC etc as they seem to have a negative outlook on things related to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Here's a few: coingape.com CoinDesk Twitter Cointelegraph

That brings up another issue entirely: as long as there are campaign managers like the one for the campaign that the referenced user is in, there will always be shitposters that are accepted into shit campaigns, unfortunately.
I agree that users that are here solely for bounty campaigns and not quality users by any means, and I'm hoping merit requirements will become a thing relatively soon... But again, as long as we have campaign managers that will just accept anyone and everyone, merit and ranks won't make a difference.
Yep. That's also a issue that isn't easily corrected without either only allowing approved users or banning campaigns altogether. Maybe someone can come up with a verified/trusted campaign manager list like there is escrow lists out there, but these are up for manipulation by it's owners. I think it's best to restrict those who are participating in campaigns and setup a payment for signatures like hilariousandco suggests. Otherwise, the forum is going to continually go down the shitter no matter how many moderation occurs. Perhaps, campaign managers should be treated as advocating spam if they aren't doing their job and removing those who are spamming and receive harsh pentalties themselves. Although, I think the paid signatures is the best route without providing an headache for the staff members.

No matter how you secure your crypto whether using hardware wallets such as Ledger, Trezor or Keepkey or using Offline Paper Wallets or using Online Web Wallets or using Desktop Wallets or anything else, the problem is your crypto is only safe as long as nobody has your private keys.
I'm not sure what you are trying to get at here. I think it's pretty obvious that if anyone has a private key then they have access to the addresses which correspond with that private key. Although, a private key would ideally be generated offline in a secure environment and never be used again until you want to move all of those coins. A private key theoretically could be cracked using brute force or any of the other methods mentioned above, but it's incredibly unlikely. We are talking millions to billions of years to crack one. Private keys aren't the issue as long as you've generated it in a secure environment and ideally offline. Passwords are the weakest point of access like anything. People always follow some sort of pattern, and you might of heard that nothing is random. In terms of a person it's true nothing is random. The way our mind thinks everything we've been through will effect what words/characters we come up with to put in that password. This is why dictionary attack is often used when databases are leaked because, people generally follow the same patterns of each other. People are also known for making easily to remember passwords for ease of access, but this is highly unrecommended in terms of passwords for banks and wallets. Honestly, generating a password over 15 characters which is completely random using as many letters/numbers/special characters as possible. This will prevent against all of the methods mentioned above. You are only then vulnerable to malware but, that's an entirely different subject and also concretes the point why wallets only accessed through dedicated offline computers is the best way to go about things.

I think anyone who participates only in bounty campaigns aren't here for the forum and aren't particularly quality users. Although, I don't think it's specifically against the rules to only post bounty sign ups etc. Although, from my stand point I think he's a shitposter. Probably not justifying him being reported, but certainly should be rejected from campaigns.

I've reported reserve posts in the past which have been deleted. I think it was for one particular signature campaign in the services section and I'm pretty sure it was Hilariousandco who dealt with it, but I might be wrong on that one.
In my opinion reserve posts should only be allowed by the owner of a thread to reserve the post under the OP. I believe theymos has stated before that he would even insert a reply if it was important if someone didn't reserve a post initially. Although, this might of been a few years back and find it unlikely he would do it now that so many people would likely request this.

Being a one - liner poster is considered spamming I think and it doesn't contribute to the forum but to post that is irrelevant now is different thing. Let our DT members do their job with this user. I consider that user as a shitposter for me. Don't know if others will agree with me too I disagree. It's not the fact that this user or any other user posting a one liner is spam it's the fact what they are saying is spam. For example, gibberish, repeated or off topic. You can make your point with just a few words. I would agree that the user outlined in the OP is a complete shitposter though. For example: there is no other reason for bitcoin because bitcoin in this month and so on will rise again to 100% because with bitcoin prices can increase us and we should be trading.
Goes on to make a bold statement without providing any explanation at all. It's just a prediction without any context on why he thinks so. Another example: indeed yes, maybe this is in because, other coins, or we can again stable again.
Complete nonsense. Doesn't really make sense and again doesn't provide any explanation to their answer.

Why would you even try to stop them in the first place? It's a waste of time if you do. Fraud and duplicity are as old as mankind itself. Better try to make people aware and educate them. Make them aware and help them that way. Punishing those who scam people is a must, sure (if you can), but we will never be able to stop all of them. It's much more dangerous to get lulled into a false sense of security. Always be vigilant.
As the saying goes: "prevention is better than cure" meaning we should try to prevent the damage caused by scams before they have happened because, after they have happened irreversible damage has already taken place. Also, just because you can't stop all of them doesn't mean you shouldn't try too. I'm all for the people who dedicate their time in helping people stay safe.

That’s right most of the experts have no idea what’s actually happening or what may happen but everyone should do their own analysis and should trust them, people shouldn’t depend or get excited on an “Expert’s” opinions or predictions. People should be serious about it do your homework and you’ll have wider views about the market
I've said this before and many other people have too. No one remembers the guy who got it wrong, but everyone remembers the guy that gets it right. A expert could make a bold prediction that Bitcoin will reach $100k next year, and if it happens he will be hyped up and praised and people will likely follow his future predictions and he may even make a little bit of money off of this. However, if he isn't correct then everyone forgets that he made that prediction and it's no longer spoken about. It's a win-win for "experts". Plus, we have to remember that everyone invested in Bitcoin who is giving "expert" advise is likely trying to manipulate the market without using their own spending money. We've seen in the past how "Whales" can influence the price of Bitcoin, and experts giving their advise are effectively getting the masses to sell or buy and they are manipulating the market without using any of their spending money.

Thanks to all for your replies and Suggestions .
I noticed some of the user said that Send a list of Members who wanted to Moderate the Sub-Forum to Theymos. But what will happen with that. We all Know Theymos will ignore that. Same happened with the Indian Sub forum when some users posted here that they need Mod but their request is ignored.
Moreover Theymos doesn't have Guts to answer here. He loves Hiding.
No Offence
There's no knowing what theymos will do, but he might appreciate a list of people who would be willing to do it, and if he feels there's a need for it to be moderated then he can articulate his opinions based on that list. He's only recently asked the community to give their input on who should moderate the Politics and Society section so he does listen to the community when he feels it's best too.

Does that mean these guys are just spamming the boards over and over?
Yeah, bumping the topics. What could be the reason for them doing so ? I do not see any benefit to them for doing this ? One possibility is that the projects having those threads are getting it bumped from these users for getting more visitors. Another option is that they are doing it out of ignorance, many members do this in signature campaign. They apply as a newbie without any signature. I guess the developers could be trying to get their name out there and hoping users just sign up without realizing it's already finished and do some free advertising for them. Could also be bots trying to earn money, but it seems they've specifically targeted older bounty threads.

Who knows what this guy has used to generate this gibberish. I don't think it's bad translation as I would think even basic translation would be better than this. None of this makes any sense, and it seems that he uses the same sentences a few times in his replies; Such as starting a sentence off with "to work with the moderation" which makes no sense in a lot of the topics they have replied too.
He's obviously spamming for tokens and is likely using a random word generator or some variation of that as they often use the same sort of words in their replies without making any sense.
