561  Other / Meta / Re: What's more important to judge whether or not I should be trusted? on: September 28, 2018, 11:27:26 PM
I've only started being an asshole after I found out Lauda scammed his escrowers out of 3000 BCH and is lecturing me for trying to sell one account (I know my word that I wanted to sell it to a legit person means nothing, but still comparing a consensual transaction with a 3000 BCH scam..)
Are you talking about the NVO escrow scenario?
What do you have to tell about sorting out your case with The Pharmacist?

If you want to get your trust score back, contact the DT1 members who added Lauda and The Pharmacist, or convince Lauda and TP to remove their negative rating.
562  Other / Meta / Re: Reputation section - different improvement suggestions on: September 28, 2018, 09:50:35 PM
The reputation section should be renamed as Alt-busting section or something similar of such sort.
- Good reports deserve a bunch of Merits. It's a hard work to do the research and create a detailed proof that everyone can understand the connections. Right now there are many detailed reports without Merit, which definitely deserve more. And as overall profit this will make it more attractive to spot Merit abusers or Alts cheating in a bounty. More people will be aware of the problem because it reduces stakes of every honest member who joins according the rules using one account in this bounty. Spotting cheaters will also reduce bounty spam. The solution can be to add Merit sources awarding good reports or existing Merit sources looking for good reports there.
Good reports =/= good posts. Just because you expose someone's alleged alt/s, you're not entitled to receiving merits. Spotting cheaters don't reduce spam. In case you forgot or didn't know, anyone can create accounts here, and to indefinite amounts. Stop trying to convert alt-account busting into a business.

- Many cheaters are submitted, but not tagged yet. The proof is often very clear and I think the problem is that the DT members are very busy to check this and tag cheaters accordingly. In my opinion it would help to add good cheater reporters to DT. This wil result in less work for every DT member and make sure to tag all cheaters. There are still many cheaters able to escape the red trust because the DT members are too busy to tag everyone. These reports will be lost forever and the chaters can continue cheating.
DT members aren't entitled to tag anybody as per your/anybody's will. Sometimes the said proof isn't worthy enough to tag the said cheaters. Every case is subjective, and not all DT members look into this bounty cheating alts. If any DT member has time, they'll look into it.

Sometimes people bump their report to make it visible again but often this leads to nothing, because all DT are busy and these bumps only spam the topic (despite I understand the bumps). I hope we can add more DT members to tag cheaters or involve more existing DT members in it. I hope all efforts to detect cheaters will not be wasted if the report isn't handled.
Not required. Trust me, you don't want to complicate the trust system by adding more rando/s. It does fuckall shit as is. No one is forced to detect cheaters, anyone who reports them do as per their own will.
563  Other / Meta / Re: It make sense that why theymos was talking about the YouTube channel on: September 27, 2018, 03:38:04 PM
The YouTube idea was motivated in large part by the idea that you'd be targeting people smart/thoughtful enough to watch a smart/thoughtful video, and then they'd get engaged enough by the video that they'd go to the trouble of registering and participating on the forum. I want good, long-term users, not anything that would even show up in a traffic graph.
Yeah no, it doesn't work like that anymore. Most, if not all crypto nerds have been to this forum, and have left it for obvious reasons. You don't have to start a darn youtube channel, but just clean up the forum to massive extents. Hire more mods, or do something that will actually reduce spam.
564  Other / Meta / Re: What's more important to judge whether or not I should be trusted? on: September 27, 2018, 03:08:18 PM
While you could have handled this situation in a much better manner, which you didn't, a red tag wasn't initially really required, for your case. The person who controls Avirunes account had bought it and made his name, point being not all account buyers are trying to game the system or whatever, but since you tried to sell an account to a random person, its hard to conclude if you really wanted to sell it to a non "red-tagged member". Bitcointalk community works in a odd manner, just like everything else. While the tag doesn't make you a scammer, it doesn't make you look like a trust worthy person either. A new person would obviously judge you for the red tags you received, and not for the green tags.

All I can suggest you to do is, instead of being an utter asshole, try sorting it out with Lauda and The Pharmacist privately.
565  Other / Meta / Re: Writing a welcome message on: September 24, 2018, 03:09:16 PM
I think the message should be shorter - much shorter. Or at least have the table of contents expanded into more of a summary: this is a Bitcoin forum, not a job... don't post shit... don't fall for scams... etc, with links to more details on each point.

We know that people don't read, particularly 90% of people who register on this forum. So the "donts" for bounty hunters should be very prominent in this message.
The message isn't pages long, and is to the point(sorta). If newbies don't read it,then its their issue, they won't be able to complain on not knowing anything this time. The smaller the message gets, the more stupider it'd sound. Its a welcome message, not a summary of bitcointalk. The message would probably be fine, as long as its not an annoying pop-up.

@theymos, you should add links that newbies might find helpful. Like this one.
566  Other / Meta / Re: [List] of Campaign Managers accepting shitposters. Report here > on: September 24, 2018, 03:01:09 PM
Bitcoin paying campaigns don't accept shitposters anymore, but only bounty managers do. Sylon comes to mind, jamalaezaz(?), hua_hui(?) are the known managers for accepting shitposters?

What would be the use of reporting them? Not many DT members would agree to give a red-tag, but that doesn't matter.

Isn't it time to start banning managers who pay shitposters? Managers are banned anyway if they create airdrops or altcoin giveaway threads. Well, the bounties with shitposters count together as the same.
But the thing is, it wasn't still yet updated. Having it updated will be of help, and for those whose accepting spammers for their campaigns are a must to be banned from this community.
What exactly hasn't been updated?
567  Other / Meta / Re: Writing a welcome message on: September 24, 2018, 03:31:33 AM
Please mention about the trust system, if you want to. It might be a little important for newbies to know more about it...

569  Other / Meta / Re: LoyceV's deMerit source application on: September 20, 2018, 02:26:22 PM
Not really required, IMO.

Jr. Members can't do much. People are focusing a little too much on a ranking system, and concentrating their time on something that's not very important. If I were you, I'd rather go play football or you know...go get yourself wasted.
570  Other / Meta / Re: Applying to be a merit source on: September 20, 2018, 02:17:34 PM
Wow. I miss out 4 days, and theymos actually does something, Meta becomes worse than off-topic board, and a global mod's alt runs out of merits. Wow.

Aren't you a merit source in the main account?

Anybody want to explain me what the fuck is going on meta other than just garbage nonsense complaining? Just when I thought bitcointalk couldn't get any worse in terms of incessant bitching.
571  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature Anti-Spam Campaign Managers on: September 19, 2018, 03:02:58 PM
Its interesting how is the price for hire such a Bounty Manager.
Propably are diffrent price if we only want hire for
A) Preparing Bounty Campaign (making topic/signatures/google forms)
B) Except preparing bounty campaign also controlling work bounty hunters and responding as a support in Telegram Chat.
Please stop shitposting!
572  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Bitcointalk so hard now, i give up. on: September 17, 2018, 03:32:40 PM
i dont know what admin do for he make the rules about ranking in Bitcointalk, because i think very hard to get merit and make my ranking increase to Member, but now i lost my hope to get ranking Member, because my ranking down to Newbie and i dont know how i can do in this forum, i give up in this forum, because now in this forum to up ranking in Jr Member so hard, especially in the ranking Member or more. i hope the admin make ranking in this forum is easy again.

thank you
k bye
573  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos, can we do something for you?? on: September 16, 2018, 03:29:58 PM
- Is there anything the community can do to help you with the current forum situation?? /Except the reporting/
Bend over.  Grin jk or... not.

- Is there anything the community can do to help you with the current forum situation?? /Except the reporting/
So long as he has trust issues, not really.

- Will you choose new moderators /add more patrollers??
Lol. No. Its Slim Shady theymos. He'll disappear for a while and come back, and cause some immense panic amongst shitposters.

- Shall we continue reporting?? Hilariousetc doesn't see much of impact of the reports, mostly waste of time. Even if we ban them but they keep coming back.
Here's the thing with reporting, hardly people report, and even if they do, they give up. I know for a fact that most of them do, so did I(after 100 reports). There is more spam than reports. For every 1 report, its safe to assume that 10 shitposts are made if not more.

- Can we start taking one by one the suggestions marked as OK, maybe one in a month for the easy ones and one in two-tree months for the other that takes more time.
And how would you implement those suggestions without theymos's right(or left) hand?

- Can you share one or two hours per month to have a conversation with the community on the current issues??
It can be motivational for the both sides.
Conversation won't do much or you know anything. While he can give reasons why an issue can/cannot be solved, action needs to be taken. I know that action is sometimes taken, but its always too late or never.

- Can we have a dedicated board for discussions with reading restriction for people with low rank and low report score???
Please don't. Its unnecessary.
Everywhere who cares about the forum, comes and says that theymos doesn't do this or that: Just imagine for an admin, who's given an unasked responsibility , who hardly has time, has trust issues for various reasons, and other things comes to his forum to read what's going on and all he sees is: theymos said this or that, and on top of that complaining about it, its just too much handle for one fucking person.

If theymos needed our help, he'd have asked. In fact he did ask, right before the merit system was implemented. He is open to suggestions, but not to those that restrict users in any kind.

Yours sincerely,

theymos' advocate,[not really]
pugman.
574  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: September 16, 2018, 03:00:45 PM
Can i just say: "I completely agree"? Cheesy
Now that you said it, I am going to report you and get you banned for shitposting/plagiarism. Grin

I kind of like the idea, especially if it includes helpful video guides and explanations of the rules or standards here. We could even link to them or show a welcome video in the 'Newbie Welcome Message' I proposed here. Maybe watching the video is a requirement for all new users. Would be quite easy to get people to do subtitles for different languages as well. I'm sure we could get some user generated content and if they're good enough they can be uploaded to the main channel. Their reward could be in things like merit, or as you mentioned in cash if they're of a very high standard (and I'm sure they would also receive merit in addition). Maybe there could be a special badge for great video content creators as well.
Youtube videos can be monetized, so contributors can get a part of it, or a pre-deal can be set,if this idea ever goes beyond just "discussion". It'd help a lot if videos are embeded on this forum and like, high ranked members could only have the ability to do that.

Don't bother starting a youtube channel or anything would bring more population to bitcointalk,so long as things are bad here. If you start youtube, more things would become a "priority" then. First, try getting rid of current issues, this will only add up as a burden to you.

Agreed. I think we should be trying to get on top of the spam and lack of action regarding the multiple issues here (ICO sig spam, shitposting farming, lack of mods/admins and redistributing workload, accounts not getting recovered etc.) before anything else.
All this could be easily solved. I suggested one: Instead of removing signatures, blacklist the signatures of shitposters. Give certain mods the ability to whitelist/blacklist signatures(thoughts?). That'd ruin their lives. They'd come back, yes, but if high ranked shitposters can't earn shit, then we'd only have to deal with lower ranked members. And this might warn the new ranked members.

Also no one is even warned of anything or even aware of rules. Hell the rules aren't even "official". Oh, and the help page is so outdated.

theymos wake up! These YouTube channel could be taken care later, first please just solve the issues that needs to be addressed. BTW, where is cyrus?

I like Doug and he's certainly entertaining, but not sure sure if he'd want to dedicate time to someone else's channel. I don't think he's low on money either so not sure how much he'd want to be paid to do so Cheesy.
No. Please not Doug, I don't hate him or something(I don't know him either), but some one else needs to do this youtube thing(please don't hire slickage for this too). You don't want to see threads like when is the youtube channel releasing, lol.
575  Other / Meta / Re: A special Archive for truly memorable/historical threads on: September 15, 2018, 12:05:42 PM
Or... Instead of moving the thread to any other board, theymos can just add the option of adding an archive option for each thread if it's possible; and then those threads could just stay in the board if they are archived , posts won't be made there then. I have seen something like that on reddit and it might be pretty useful IMO.
576  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel? on: September 14, 2018, 07:54:30 PM
- Summaries of recent high-quality posts
Maybe not this. Only the posts made by nullius, achow101 and gmaxwell will end up there.

Recently the idea occurred to me that it might be cool to have a bitcointalk.org YouTube channel. It could contain things such as:
 - Bitcoin information
 - Summaries of recent high-quality posts
 - Summarized crypto news, but from a neutral perspective, without any pump-and-dump

If there was regular (eg. weekly) content, this might be a good way of attracting good new users and making existing users feel more engaged in the community.

Does this sound like a good idea? Is anyone interested in producing this content? I suppose we'd need at least someone with good camera presence, someone skilled at video editing, and one or more script writers. I might be willing to dedicate some forum funds to this.
Why don't you also add the courses idea with this? A video course is much better than PPT or a document. It'd be easier to find people for this, but it'd be better for you to hire them offline/IRL,since you have a little issues with trust. Be careful though, you might have to spend a little more than what you might think, depending on what content the people make.

If there was regular (eg. weekly) content, this might be a good way of attracting good new users and making existing users feel more engaged in the community.
It won't,not until moderation becomes strict and tight. Spamming will only become more. There are downsides to his: More spamming, more work for mods, which would lead to more spending. You should focus more on the members who left this place(because they stasrted hating it). New members wouldn't get what bitcoin is for a while, and they would keep asking the same questions again and again.

Don't bother starting a youtube channel or anything would bring more population to bitcointalk,so long as things are bad here. If you start youtube, more things would become a "priority" then. First, try getting rid of current issues, this will only add up as a burden to you.
577  Economy / Reputation / Re: marlboroza - about the red trust - Nel.network fake team on: September 14, 2018, 05:37:47 PM
I respectfully disagree with people who say managers shouldn't go and check for fake teams and stuff like that. A campaign manager's only job isn't just to count posts and reward participants for their work. While this maybe a tedious task, they should at least take certain precautions(mentioned by suchmoon),it should take a couple of hours. Or if you want hire a Private Investigator sort of a person to take care of it.

Posting something =/= endorsing something, especially NOT when a disclaimer is present. If one fails to read or understand the disclaimer, then it is only their (the participant's) fault.
Most people don't have a proper/any disclaimer. When you make an ANN thread/run bounties for an ICO, you're endorsing them, because you're getting paid for that. Uunless there's a disclaimer that says: "I do not endorse this project"(which is even worse for the company that paid you to represent). That makes them less of a victim or whatever. But that disclaimer shouldn't protect them, they were still paid for that.

Exactly. The current super-majority are jr. member spammers; thus the damage (not being paid out fictional tokens) is negligible when you look at the big picture.
This wouldn't have been the case had it been a bitcoin paying campaign. That's double standards.

Luckily none of you are lawmakers anywhere. Tongue
Yet its acted like that is the case.
578  Other / Meta / Re: Vote for new moderators who deserve it. @theymos please take a look. on: September 14, 2018, 01:18:32 PM
I became a mod at Senior I think, and rank isn't that relevant, but the longer you've been here the better, especially if you're very, very active but the number of reports you're making should be the biggest factor. The Philippines board already has two mods and Rickbig is very active here so not sure if it desperately needs another, but we do need more patrollers and dedicated sub board mods.
Apparently they aren't very active in their board, so I have been told. That board doesn't have enough merit sources too ,it seems.

We need mods for a lot of boards, but is there any use for us to complain and just complain?
579  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Should we stop expose scam ? And how working trust system. on: September 13, 2018, 10:21:50 PM
To be honest, I noticed lot of positive rating (green trust ) is for succesful trading, like bought some token or coin. I can't see much green trust for forum activity. Is this really need to give positive rating for successful trade ? Can't be use neutral feedback ? Why there is neutral feedback option? Shouldn't use it ? Sometimes green trust made confuse. May be someone will trust him/her blindly without check trust comment. Although green trust isn't mean a person couldn't scam but it has a value.
Trust system was meant for trading things,so there's nothing wrong with that. Then things became horrible, and people got tags for so many irrelevant things in the trust system.

Should you stop or not stop exposing scams is on you. It takes a lot of time and effort, and you get nothing for it, except trying to help the community. Its subjective, its based on how your life is based, and a lot more things. Exposing scams would lead nowhere on this forum, they'll just come back. Negative feedback has no real consequences, yet people give death threats in return.

theymos should be having a better answer for this, because for me personally, the entire trust system is useless, and is limited only within the forum's bounds. Scammers are just chillin.
580  Other / Meta / Re: Seriously, theymos ??? on: September 12, 2018, 08:49:53 PM
It's simple. You take your hand down from front, stick it up your ass and wipe till the process is complete.

Sometimes I just eat toilet paper to speed the whole process up.
Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Its very healthy what you're doing, better than what those fucking perverted doctors give in the name of medicine.
