Anyway. Once I'm all set, I'll start a new node and open a new channel to my fellow WO LN-operators (you guys know who you are)

FWIW, probably noticed my node is down as well.

I had a crisis of confidence with Umbrel, and decided it was better to claw everything back into my "play" wallet.

TOR is a fucking disaster for LN, IMO. The performance is just shit vs clearnet.

Not sure how to resolve this moving forward, but it's doubtful I'll be running an LN node off our clearnet home IP at some point in the future, and even less of a chance I spin up a node on a VPS provider.

I tried.

Took a 400k sat loss after all was said and done.

Learned a lot - like I should probably not involve myself with lightning for at least another halvening.

You helped me a lot to decide that i will not get my hands on LN in the near future.
I'm more busy with real life lately, but i have read about the shit that's going on to happen around the farm project.
I can only reccomend to go more often to the inside of you. Too much messy stuff for too long will grind you up sooner or later.
Reserve a little time to live a simple, relaxed life, if possible. What do youreally  need to just feel good? Yourself and your loved ones inside a space of "timelessness".
Afair, you wrote that the locals started to try finding ways to help you out, regarding the elevated driveway mess? This is great, even more if it will succeed  Smiley

SBF granted bail just before Christmas. These two tweets sum up the case.

The security surrounding that house must be insane.

Can you imagine all the black ops teams that have likely been hired to take the guy out?

One hell of a video game mission, I'll tell you that much.

Looks like a job for the WO "where-am-i" crew Cheesy

Merry Christmas Everybody

From BB

Thanks!
I have to admit, one of the nicest presents today  Grin  Cool
This one counts as gay christmas card as well, doesn't it?
Merry Christmas!

I have no idea how they will "fix" this.

They won't.
It will be fixed inherently on itself by breaking down, followed by another iteration.
Seems humanity is doomed to repeat history.

R.I.P Maxi Jazz, the famous voice of the legendary dance act Faithless from the '90 has died at age of 65. Cry

Sad.
Still got "Insomnia" on my car's mp3 player. Epic tune.
I am resisting to link some article about the impact of sleep deprivation on life expectancy.

US temperatures to drop to -30C and even -45C in some places over Christmas. Stay safe everyone.

In other news: Swedish brat loses her cool when her long range weather predictions turn to shit.

the climate catastrophe sect has an excuse for everything...  Like "weather extremes increase"...  and some climate researcher whose income and reputation depend on the climate hysteria will quickly come up with a study which "proofs" it...

Yeah!
Who needs science anyway, when nobody is able to understand it?
If there were no scientists, there would be no climate change, aminotrite?

 Cheesy Roll Eyes

Merry Christmas, first of all.

seems you want to paint me as an idiot (which I probably am anyways), when I have not even stated anything disputable imo...
but you are welcome  ...

Nope. But (rapid) climate change is a scientific fact. Being sceptical to climate-change, like i was too in the past, is more or less idiotic, facing nowadays fact base.
So there's that. It's easy to look stupid when one is chanting in with a sceptic's narratives.
Don't take my words too personal. I'm not a very social guy, so my words are often taken as offensive, when they aren't in reality. That's also the reason why i almost never feel offended by anyone. It's complicated, i can't even explain it just like so.
You'd better off to take my words like just a different opinion.

Quote
For sake of communication what I wanted to say is:

Like always in history, we have end-of-the-world sects.
Nowadays, at least one of them in the field of climate change.

Right. I compare this to the bell curve of religions. There is Islam, with 1% radicals, and Christians on the other side, with 1% radicals (rough numbers).
The end-of-world-parts are even less, but both are following the same dynamics, originating from fear (of death).

Quote
They hold extreme views within the scientific climate debate that is supported by a variety of better or (more often) worse computer models..

I wouldn't trust either models too much. We know that a model is only as good as the complexity it can follow, based on reality. This correlations are typically very basic and simple. Even if the climate change was 100% human-driven, we couldn't reverse or slow it down suffciently.
Now there's the good part: Our species is used to adapt quickly, and this is what made us the dominant lifeform on this planet (when you leave bacteria and viruses out of the equation). Let me redact that to mammals, ok?

Quote
The climate sects give themselves names like "Last Generation" and believe they are the chosen ones to save the world. They have their priest-like figures like that mentally instabile Greta girl
Greta is innocent, and this is why she is being easy to be (ab)used.
Again, it's the mighty ego that drives (some of) us to identify with narratives like "last generation".

Quote
These apocalyptic sects' views are not(!) for debate, so logically they have to fight every counter argument and make excuses for anything that counters their view by default.

There are many researchers whose income depends on climate hysteria and they are incentivized to write paper after paper to drive a hysterical view forward.

The debate is extremely politicized and the scientific field is flooded with billions of Dollars. It's obvious that a lot of junk science and junk papers are in circulation.

That's a very simple view of what's happening, but i can't rule out that it is partly true, at least.
There's a common underlying entity, named the human ego, which is driving people to do many strange things which they don't question, and it's used to justify anything in the name of rigtheousness. Whatever that is, you know?

Quote
I have never stated that the climate doesn't change. But it is definitely used by politics in a big way.

We can sure both agree on that.
But then, when you watch what they do, it's very different to what they say.
I suggest that's how things work nowadays. Mostly since 9/11 - imo the latest real Black Swan event in history - politics and society have changed a lot since then, on a global scale. I don't know how to say it in a simple way, but fear is the key to everything behavioural in humans. If we could handle fear in a consious way, we'd be far better off with everything. It may need a lot of time to get there, though.

Merits

You obviously didn't understand Merits. You claim they are worthless, on the other hand you give them so much (negative) attention, which shows how important they are to you.
Explain.

....

I guess that confirms it. Bitcoin causes mental illness.

...

idk.. But that's probably what every normie thinks after browsing this thread for more than 2 minutes...

...and they might be onto something...

Well, what would you expect from men staring at endless combinations of red and green vertical bars for hours...
I don't even consider myself as mentally healthy, but it's fun, jokes and memes everywhere around here.

these assholes don't deserve BTC batches... they probably hate Bitcoin.

They took a shit load of capital out of the Bitcoin ecosystem, when they were supposed to buy Bitcoin with money they received from their customers.  But they just stole it, and the capital ended up in their pockets.  They are partially responsible for the shit prices we see now..

I hope they get to be the bitches of other inmates in prison for years to come.

SBF always loved fiat. He exploited Bitcoin arbitrary at younger age, just to make millions over millions of dollars and built his exchange with that and also false promises.
He's just a fake bitch fiat whore. I hope he's getting fucked like he fucked Bitcoin.

Have any of you seen this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1JlnjY4d4c

Bewildering to say the least.
Among witnesses: two were at least in part rational thinkers (O'Leary and a female from the Cato Instutute).
The other two-complete blabbering 'tools'.

In addition..my gawd...these are our Senators [a couple were OK, with the rest... 'you name it' ]?
What does this say about the electorate?

My impression, looking into this for about half an hour, skipping bits, is that opinions were quite balanced. Senators overexaggerating probably weren't taken too serious by the board. The most impressive moments where, however, the (brainwashed) lady visibly shaking, around 23:00. Better go take your meds, babe  Tongue
The overall message by the more reasoned speakers was about the shadyness of characters in the crypto business, and in terms of shady, we surely got a lot of experience here on WO  Cheesy
Derivatives and collateral tokens just suck, and that's about coming out to me when looking at this senator's discussion. This is the part of the market that needs attention by authorities, i hope the sen(i)ators all got that, too.

I would like Morocco to win and turn down all of Budweiser's beer

That’s one way to stop Mbappe

Morocco attacking in the second half but French defense looks unbreakable…

Significant difference was the speed of attacks, france got a slight advantage there, and Grizman and Mbappe kept the MAR defence very busy, which was effectively enabling other FRA players to score while them key players were attracting all the attention by MAR. The result and gameplay was great though, very refreshing after that 90 minute croatian power-nap. MAR will most likely score third place, they did most of the things right that CRO failed to do.
ARG vs. FRA should deliver a great game, i'm pretty excited looking forward to that.

The referee was shitty, unworthy of a semi-final game. When you have video assistance but you're thinking you're too good to actually make use of it  Roll Eyes

JJG is correct about the following:

 world governments fear BTC.

As to their solutions to solve the problems btc creates, they are working on it.

Lets hope they do as well as they did in keeping the deficit in check.

BTC actually was quite muted in the news lately, which is a good sign of slowly considering it as what it is. The most serious peer-to-peer electonic cash system.
It feels quite good to see the bitcoin bashing decrease.

For the record: Coinbase advertising a "good buy", but for me it's a "good bye".  Tongue
I never got through KYC on binance, god knows why, but i'm actually pretty happy about that.

I hope you get your balls served on a plater tonight.
#cry.me.a.river

Go, Morocco go!

I hope to see a good, honest match. CRO was playing like opting for #3, i hope MAR won't give in so early.
For myself, yesterday i didn't enjoy the game at all, without even favouring one of the teams. I rarely do, i just wanna see fine world class soccer  Cool

The further we pull away from $15,000 the more likely it is that the bottom is in (obvious, right).
Market is looking good at the moment but I’m still only 50/50 that we’ve seen the bottom. I’ll be convinced if we hit mid 2023 over $25,000. Binance is making me nervous at the moment, apart from that though, I don’t see any Black Swan events?

What do you think WO?

That's the problem with black swan events, you don't see them coming.
For the rest of the topic, i don't really know what to believe, i guess i'm fine with anything at the time.

Sum that up, and you see these images indeed show what is "out there", but not being visible to our eyes. Astronomers collect data from the same spot in the night sky for hours, even days, with a spectrum as wide (and useful) as possible. As a matter of detail, mostly all of the light they collected is still very dim, and they do two things to come over that and result in a beautyful picture: "Stretch" the low light, so that a litte bit more bright than totally dark actually almost gets white, and filter out the read noise and other artifacts that sort of cover up the darker areas, where really much of that background data emitted by space objects is.

OK, thank you for elaborating.
Genuine question: Telescopes continuously move around to stay focused on whatever they are watching - as everything is on constant motion, right?
How does your camera relate to that?

Finally i found some time to answer this.
The camera is mounted to the scope eye-end, but the ocular (eyepiece) is replaced by a corrector lens (which makes the globular-segment projection of the lenses "flat", all rays of light parallelized, for sharpness in the corner area of the camera's sensor). From the view of the camera, everything is static (to a great amount), but alignment of the base, precision of motors, drives, vibrations by wind or nearby passing heavy vehicles etc. all play into this staticness of the view. Most advanced astrophotographers use a parallel, cheaper scope with a cheesy monocrome video camera (gsm cellphone like) to track a bright star near the object they are capturing, so the mount and motors can adjust to imprecisions in realtime. If you want to take single exposures longer than 2 minutes, there's no way around if you need sharp images.

Quote

I also remember playing around with cameras when I was younger, and what I enjoyed the most was making those LSD kinda of photos, just by letting in more light at night. Stable objects would sort of “move” in the resulting photo, creating the effect. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about, despite my lack of proper terminology. Similar to the wobbly whatever, live, on the telescope. And what about colour? Space and colour? Hm?

Not quite sure what you mean with the camera, but the scope "wobbles" is just warm (or cold) air moving in between the object and scope. The lower near the horizon the scope is pointed, the stronger the effect, mostly in the cities over the warm times of the year. These can get a problem when using large magnification, like for observing solar planets. When stacking a lot of short exposures, this effect is canelled out in the resulting photo. Nowadays AP's are using video cameras to capture planets, because they deliver many exposures per second, which are all stacked up (added on top of each other) in the process. Still there are a lot of particles between the camera and planet, so not really comparable in quality to Webb or Hubble pics.

Quote

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy looking at the photos, and certainly do not want to spoil your hobby, but shit man - they do not represent reality.
Looking with your own two eyes at the moonless summer night sky, far from a luminated polluted area, is all the camera I will ever need.

No worries. I see your point, and i'd translate this aspect into "not real, in human vision relation". All the extra light data, the "invisible" parts of the spectrum contain the most beauty out there, but they would look very much like a nightvision capable animal's view, but not monochrome. The colors are either false color or shifted colors, for example the near-infrared H-Alpha waves from these cloudy nebulas, which are indeed technically red, and woudl be seen reddish by us if our retina could capture them.

And this is one of the fascinating aspect of AP, making the unseeable visible. It's there, and if we would have eyes of different design, we could actually see much of this naked.

There once was a bot named ChartBuddy,
Whose presence in the thread was a bit muddy,
He spammed the forum with his mindless blabber,
Leaving all the users in a state of shock and horror.

No one thought to report his posts,
They just sat there, feeling lost,
As ChartBuddy continued to spew his crap,
The thread was quickly turning into a trap.

With his mindless posts and lack of wit,
He single-handedly managed to ruin it,
The once lively thread was now a mess,
All thanks to the stupid bot named ChartBuddy, I confess.

But the users didn't give up so easily,
They tried to ignore him and let him be,
They hoped that he would eventually tire,
And leave the thread, a funeral pyre.

Yet ChartBuddy still remains,
A thorn in the side of the forum's domains,
A constant reminder of their inaction and neglect,
To rid the thread of the stupid bot named ChartBuddy, a permanent infect.

This has some RZA-ish touch to it, at least it's his voice which my mind was choosing while reading this text.
Where was the poll? Did i miss it? Did it turn out positive for CB?
If there's anyone able to vaccinate this thread, it's Infofront...
