hey guys,

yesterday's party did pretty much get out of control.
I can work better today. Smiley

Stay tuned for update later...

Hello georgem, i'v been wondering what sort of update your going to be releasing?
Will it be testnet for your new SN network?

I'll be releasing an updated progress report (with screenshots of what the current state looks like),
and more importantly I will be explaining in detail what exact functionality this first testnet version is going to have.

I now have a very clear idea about what's possible and achievable.  Grin

But for this I need to finish some necessary features first, so that I can more securely predict in what direction everything has to go.

I'll keep you updated.

I couldn't find how much amount is needed for each servicenode...

Because there won't be any. It will be determined by the free market.

What is fixed isn't the price, but the amount of allowed servicenodes at any current time.

You'll see, I'll explain in detail later.

... when testnet starts

Quick summary:

Each Service Node will need:
  • 80GB Diskspace
  • 2Gb Memory (RAM)
  • 200+Gb Upload
  • 20+Gb Download
  • own IP address
  • minimum amout of SPR (TBD)

From coins101 posting:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sqwY4qRWB2zqJEk9kiZB0mHPi9A6Vfuu3QA-ruy4Q8s/edit#gid=1994079775

NB: None of the details have been finalised yet, so this is just for illustration.

Sounds reasonable.
But first we are going to stick for a while to altcoins that have a small blockchain.
Makes testing easier and faster.

So, the 80GB Diskspace is not really required, but can't hurt.
We are probably good with 10 GB Diskspace too...

Release service nodes testnet, and you instantly become a Legend.
can't wait to unleash this d(a)emon baby on you guys.
Standing by and counting down, this should be  “multiple orders of magnitude”  improvement. Enormous task and it looks like you pulled it off. Congrats! Cool

The task is indeed enormous, and I am by far not yet finished in every aspect.
But what I am going to present later today (could take a few hours still) is the current state of the work.

Stay tuned, and don't buy into a bubble, guys. Wait for the real wave that will come over the next days, when testnet starts.  Cool

More info later.

Yep, it's in the birth canal alright.... can't wait to unleash this d(a)emon baby on you guys.
Soon!

300 SPR for the person that guesses when Georgem goes Legendary (nearest will do).

I'll be paying out tomorrow (unless my hangover is particularly bad) - Georgem just went Legendary.

He still says Hero for me!

Yeah - still hero, either coins101 indeed has a hangover or the forum system is playing a trick on us...  Cheesy

Happy new year all y'all!

I have a big update (with screenshots) due later today.  Cool

Countdown to new year for me is 11 hours 10 minutes.

Hi guys,

I've been out of touch with spreadcoin for a while, and would like to go how th coin is doing. Is there still some development going on? How about the masternodes/service nodes? did we get anything from there? When i "left" we were doing tests on masternodes, are there still some tests going on?

thanks a lot.
girino.

Hi girino,

I am currently working on my own implementation of Servicenodes, that I will release in the next days. (I am dead set to release it before end of year!)
You are welcome to join our DEV team... you have been part of Spreadcoin's history since the beginning.

Nice to see everything still moving along.

I don't post much. Mainly when in need of help.

Waiting to help with the test nodes if it is around the corner. Also any idea how many coins to run a service node or will it be like original plan and whoever runs with the most without being kicked?

Yep, original plan still stands. I strongly believe that a COMPETITIVE COLLATERAL is the way to go, and I will demonstrate it.

The idea is to expose the collateral to the same market forces that hashrate and currency value are exposed to too.

We will not have a fix limited number of Servicenodes though, but a slowly growing limit, based on something like (total coinsupply) / 2880 (we will find out best parameters in testnet).

Decentralization and competition are similar concepts, in fact they go hand-in-hand, and that's why it will work.

Decentralize everything!

forum and official website is down for an hour or so.

scheduled maintenance by the hoster.
652  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: December 03, 2015, 12:25:22 PM
sia did that for both - and nvidia cards came out far worse than implementing cuda ...

but there you have it ...

#crysx

When did he do that?

I can only hope that NVidia's implementation of OpenCL has improved by now.

It's their unwillingness to participate in an open standard that makes their OpenCL implementation so "average".
653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: December 03, 2015, 10:30:25 AM
I've been creating new chains in my test environment over the last few weeks just to learn some SPR basics.  It has been really useful although I have no idea about the chatter between nodes.

I recommend you download WireShark and let it display only the port used by your chain.

Code:
tcp.port == PORT_NUMBER

It's pretty easy and you'll get an idea about how the nodes communicate.
It'll show you the actual HEX Bytes that are received and sent.
654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: December 02, 2015, 04:33:49 PM
Reason: "After SPR was abandoned by it's original developer early 2015, georgem fearlessly stepped in and created a better version by the end of that same year. That's a great accomplishment and it elevated him to Legendary status overnight. After that, SPR was spreading the love at Christmas 2015 and the world became a better place!"

Something like that  Cool

I don't do anything important.

I merely obey the orders of mr. spread:

Who is Mr. Spread?

Small update:

For some days now I have been running a small intranet (4 PCs: 2 Win, 1 Mac , 1 Linux, all communicating per localhost, all CPU-mining.)
where I have probably created two dozen blockchains already, always testing a few things, analyzing hexdata and debug.logs and listening to the chitchats between the nodes and then restarting a new blockchain.

That feeling when you ignite a blockchain and it comes to life --> pretty legendary.  Grin

...

That 66.6 SPR block is nice!

I've been creating new chains in my test environment over the last few weeks just to learn some SPR basics.  It has been really useful although I have no idea about the chatter between nodes.

Hm, never saw this 66.6 SPR block, but I guess I understand how it appears in your fork experiments:

If this 66.6 SPR block bugs you, you need to remove this line here:

Code:
if (nHeight > (int)getFirstHardforkBlock())

at

https://github.com/spreadcoin/spreadcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1334

So that the function looks like this then:

Code:
int64 GetBlockValue(int nHeight, int64 nFees)
{
    int64_t nSubsidy = 50 * COIN * 4 / 3;
    nSubsidy /= 10;

    // Subsidy is cut in half every g_RewardHalvingPeriod blocks which will occur approximately every 4 years.
    int halvings = nHeight / g_RewardHalvingPeriod;
    nSubsidy = (halvings >= 64)? 0 : (nSubsidy >> halvings);
    nSubsidy -= nSubsidy*(nHeight % g_RewardHalvingPeriod)/(2*g_RewardHalvingPeriod);

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

Now the nSubsidy /= 10; is always applied.

Enjoy your forking experiments.  Wink

the miner ( ccminer-spmod ) is cuda based - so its different from the sgminer opencl mining ... but i guess they would have to process the same when mining spreadx11 ...

it would be interesting to see how much faster that miner could go with spreadx11 ... based on tsivs version - it would be nice to see it flying again ...

i have never been able to get sgminer to run ... though i havent tried in the last year ... maybe time to fire up a build and see what happens ...

#crysx

I was thinking about extending OpenCL to both AMD and NVidia cards, and not use CUDA at all.
I am not sure though how good NVidia will perform with OpenCL, but it should work.

If we want to create an in-wallet GPU miner we need an open standard, and it will be much easier to accomplish with OpenCL only.

I like how quickly you can test things in such an intranet.

So I am slowly learning the secrets of what an overlay network is made of.

It will not take much longer before your patience will pay of.

Stay tuned.

PS: I will see that I can post some Screenshots and Infos about what I am actually doing right now to help you pass your waiting time. This will follow soon.

this is correct ...

it is not difficult to do more than that with the right amount of equipment ...

i cant specify what the current state of coin minting would be on a daily basis - but when the hashrate was much higher - thefram brought in many  hundreds of spr a day ... and the difficulty was higher than it is today ...

and no - i dont have just one or two 750ti cards ...

i was only ( only - as in the only miner ) sp's optimized private miner at the time ... and still do when i do mine spr ...

#crysx

Thanks for your input.
Can't wait to start experimenting with GPU mining and OpenCL.
But there are more pressing issues for me right now.
659  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: December 01, 2015, 02:11:09 PM
unfortunately i didn't take screenshot :/, and indeed, these are 3x750ti cards

Can you mine just another block (just 1) and if the problem persists, create a screenshot this time.

Yes, your getinfo seems pretty normal.
660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: December 01, 2015, 02:04:03 PM
unfortunately i didn't take screenshot :/, and indeed, these are 3x750ti cards

I was running wallet from 11-08-2015
Then updated to latest from 09-2015 - and in new wallet these transactions are completely invisible, like they never existed :O

In previous one they were marked like  0 confirmations, rejected... tho i remember that i literally was behind the PC when first block was found ~ 6pm  yesterday, and early in the morning (8am) there were ~ 100 coins, which seemed a bit too much, but then, its all about luck and statistics Smiley
Weird but, who knows maybe somehow the wallet went mad Smiley

Well, if I understand you correctly, those blocks never made it into the blockchain.

In the new wallet (v0.9.16.1), were the new blocks you found mentioned as immature SPR?
If everything goes right they should be mentioned as immature SPR right away.

As a side note: Are you able to send SPR in your environment? Maybe add a tx fee of 0.001 SPR.
