661  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1.3 TH] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop, instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: December 15, 2013, 12:15:22 AM
I just joined this pool. I have the latest bitcoin-qt and guiminer.
However I see on my account page "Workers not connected", but I have still reported shares and average speed. I had to stop/start the miner once because it stopped.
Please help me understand.
If I try to create a worker, that page gives an error.

Also, I get "warning: job finished. GT450 idle".

You are wasting your time with that video card or any other for that matter.

Then I would say get a new router.  Honestly even a cheap $30 router by any of the major brands (Dlink, netgear, etc) will have solid DHCP reservation support these days.  Just check the reviews on a networking site before you buy one to make sure it will do what you want it to do.

For example:

Grr..  bitcointalk's image proxy is broke.

Direct link:

I have 8 computers and many other IP based devices on my home network and couldn't live without DHCP reservation. I've been using it since routers starting using it and I've never hard coded an IP stack since then. I highly suggest everyone does this that has this ability, since once you go that route it's pretty much trouble free. Let your router do all the work, not you.

I managed to fix it by manually updating the DHCP table via telnet:

I think it should be OK now.
663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 13, 2013, 02:48:05 PM

You could disable DHCP on your router, and then grab some free/opensource DHCP server software for a computer and run it on your network.

That's too much trouble for such a problem.

Btw do you know what the "Auto-IP enabled" do?

Takes like 5 minutes to setup software DHCP. Just figured it might make your life a little easier.

AutoIP, almost sounds like DHCP. I dunno. is it this: http://lwip.wikia.com/wiki/AUTOIP ?

What router are you using??

I'd rather fix the problem at the router end if possible.

It is a Technicolor TG582n.

For example if a local machine is given an arbitrary IP address from the DHCP pool and then I select "Always use this IP address" then there is no problem.
But the only way to force my miners to get IP addresses in a row is by setting them all static. Unfortunately the router decides to change that later on for no reason  Huh

Might sound like a really daft question, but when I RMA a board, do i include the full board with the heat stink attached, or separate it and send?

Just the board and nothing else Wink

Thanks, so i take the heat sink off the top and just mail the board? Any tips for what to package it in so it is secure?

Bubble wrap it and then place it inside a bubble wrap envelope Wink

I have it and it works, but the only problem is the DHCP server gives random IP addresses that I can reserve.
I want to specify the IP addresses myself - 101, 102, 103, 104, 105 and 106 as in 192.168.1.101

DHCP isn't the same thing as DHCP reservation.  It sounds like you are just describing DHCP.  With reservation you could indeed set in the router to reserve:
192.168.101 to rig #1
192.168.102 to rig #2
...
192.168.106 to rig #6

the router will never assign any other IP address to those devices and will never assign those reserved IP addresses to any other device.

Most routers today support DHCP reservation although they may use a different name.  Look for a webpage where you can assign specific ip addresses to specific devices based on their host name and mac address.

I know what it is and how it works, but my router implementation is poor. There is no option to setup the IP address myself. All I can do is select: Always use the same IP address

So it it impossible to make the router give 6 consecutive IP addresses to all my miners:

Please tell me you are mining solo, otherwise there is no point really  Cheesy

Anyone have any idea why all my Jupiters change their IP addresses even though they are setup for static.
I set them all like this and a few hours later a random miner get a different IP, I change it back, then another miner gets a different IP and so on.

No idea but you may want to look into DHCP reservation as a work around.  Most routers support it and honestly once you get it down you will never go to static IP addresses again.  Many enterprise grade networks use it because it simplifies management.

Set all the Jupiters to use DHCP and then in your router there should be a section on DHCP reservation.  In the router you assign a particular network device (PC, mining rigs, printers, etc) a particular IP address.

So the jupiter boots up contacts the router (DHCP server) and always get the same IP address assigned by DHCP.  The nice thing is all the config is done in the router so the device only needs to support DHCP.

Is there anything I can do to get these cores to work? On board 3 none of the cores work, and on board 2 about 24 out of the 192 cores seem to stay off.

I just got the miner today and when I initially started it up the hashrate climbed up to about 660/670, but later i checked and noticed it was running at about 480GH/s.

https://i.imgur.com/OipHElT.png

I also have the same issue. 2 Nov Jupiters, both have their own 1200w PSU.
Both started off at 660+ GH but after 12 hours one unit is at 500GH with all cores disabled on one ASIC board
Tried hard reset, checked connections

Has anybody managed to salvage such a board ?
Thanks

try change pool
eligius have problems witch kncminer

Eligius had some problems lately but i don't think it is only related to knc hw

I personally left Eligius once I learned Luke Jr. used the pool (and thus my hashpower) to execute a 51% attack to destroy an altcoin without my knowledge. I also came across some pretty religiously intolerant posts he made and learned he includes religious text in the blocks Eligius finds which made it easy to switch as well...
Odd....  It was my understanding Wizkid is Eligius, and Luke JR. is Slush.....  am I Mistaken?

Yes. Wizkid runs eligius, Luke-jr wrote the underying software (eloi) Slush is a different guy altogether. That much I'm sure of. I think Luke is also heavily involved in running eligius, but that's speculation.  (I lurked for a long time before I registered Tongue )

Is anyone stacking their units?? If so, what are you using as spacers between them?

The rubber feet each Jupiter has?

Is that going to be enough? the cases are pretty warm, i would like something that raised them up a little bit more.

How warm?
Mine are in a room, that is quite hot, yet the metal surface of the lid is slightly warm.
I don't think it would be a problem to stack them directly Wink

Waiting for a confirmation on the bitcoin address,
I have a confirmation from CYPHER to release the funds just want to double check the address before I send the 14 BTC Smiley

Yes, the miner is hashing at its full potential and my friend is happy Smiley
674  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1.3 TH] DeepBit.net PPS+Prop, instant payouts, we pay for INVALID BLOCKS too on: December 11, 2013, 11:22:42 PM
Anyway to see how often deepbit is solving blocks? Or how long the rounds are lasting? I am thinking of putting my 75 GH/s towards this pool.

Why would you want to do that?

To see how often I would actually get btc from using proportional.

With 75 GH/s, I would be 6.25% of the pool.

On slush's pool I can see the info of the last 20 or so rounds.

Deepbit doesn't support Stratum, so most probably you will not be mining with 75GH/s Wink

LOL.  You said local pickup.  My ghashes.  All mine.  *Insert evil laugh here*

If this isn't done already let me know.

Jupiters were picked up and are on their way back to the UK now Smiley

First Batch (with many unknowns): Supposed to ship in September, ended up in Oct/November.

Second Batch (with everything figured out): They were to ship in November, ended up first week of December.

This is kinda misleading. First batch were supposed to ship by Oct 15, and they did ship around half of orders before that date. They never guaranteed anything in september, it was just best case scenario. And second batch started shipping late november, not early december.

This post is entirely wrong.
678  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 11, 2013, 01:42:28 PM

The upgrade modules were also limited to early customers Wink

They tell you that, but it wasn't so. Non customers were able to order them.

On top of that, they promised to limit them to Mercury/Saturn owners until they ran out or until there was no longer interest, at which point they were going to be opened up for sale to anyone.

Ended up claiming there was no feasible way to do any of this (apparently nobody understands how databases work over there), hence.. free for all to anyone who could hit the webpage order form.

I don't remember non-customers having access to them. Maybe someone else can confirm.

Also where did they promise "to limit them to Mercury/Saturn owners until they ran out or until there was no longer interest"?
679  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 11, 2013, 01:31:54 PM
I wouldn't mind the the fire-sale boards, as they were supposedly going to existing customers. That said, I think it was shitty they were sold to Jupiter customers - first approval/dibs should have been given to Saturn & Mercury owners.

I kinda feel like if others got burned that way, they'd understand the points being made. For instance, instead of the Neptune being given a few days of 'early sales' to previous customers.. just open it up to the public all at once, and then say "oh, well we couldn't figure out how to limit it only to current customers".

Like they said about the modules.

The upgrade modules were also limited to early customers Wink

I've sent DeaDTerra the login info, he will be able to access the web portal or SSH in with that.  Change the pool info and password and it will be good to go.

Btw that is a good point that I completely forgot about  Grin

Payment was made, so technically the miner should be hashing for my friend, correct?
