This seems like a really innovative feature if it works properly. I guess it's still random overall (the lottery principle still holds, so it's still worth being part of the forging network), it's just that the next 10 minutes aren't random. Like you know you've won the lottery, you just haven't been given the outsize cheque by the C-list celebrity yet.
Hahaha.

Looks great from an installation/usability perspective. What's the deal if I'm using a laptop that's only on ~6 hours a day? Are there drawbacks? Just thinking of Joe Public using NXT and what's going to have maximum appeal. You can lease your forging power of your account to another account that will forge 24/7 for you. Forging pools are being set up as we speak. So you won't have to turn your computer on at all and still get NXT for forging. You will still be able to spend and move the cash in the account and the lease automatically updates the amount you have on lease. Leased forging is a feature unique to Nxt, another first (Edit: I might have jumped to conclusions here, were you referring to not being able to forge 24/7? )It's partly about forging. Though I understand the forging formula takes into account the last time you were awarded a block, so I'm not sure whether you 'catch up' to some extent after being away for a while. And leasing is a great idea too It's also about updating the blockchain (which I think will happen pretty fast, compared to bitcoin). And any other factors that might be relevant... I know CPU mining bitcoins was a bad idea on a laptop and that shouldn't be an issue with NXT. Must be a few more things that will swing someone's decision to download a client or go for a web service. That's a good question. Updating blockchain is very fast, even if you are installing a brand new client, entire chain takes about 5 minutes for me. If you are only on every couple days, it's going to take less time to update the chain. I would always suggest downloading a client and using locally over a web service. Here is a link to the desktop client. https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/nxt-client-1.0.0.zipsha256: b7f2ce2cdb1a995a5ea31b73a9fcb4004c209f346bf5872b891c32406df18494 Assuming you are using windows, unzip file, click on run.bat, wait a minute for CMD to show that it's running (scanning blockchain) and then it will say it's started successfully. At that point go back to folder and click on NXT_Wallet to open the client via a browser.

Why does the opening post not state the reason why this is the official thread on bct?
Some background information in the opening post about the old thread, why it was closed and why this one was (re)opened again would be helpful.
The original thread was closed by the moderator (2Kool4Skewl) to encourage members to use NxtForum.org and post on specific topics rather than one long thread on BTT. Personally I think we need both, so glad to see this thread.

Damned cryptocurrency ideals, freedom to be unfair or fair There is no administration and rules, only anarchy. I agree. Let it be. We will see. BTW, I have some stake in Nxt. I don't want buy more and will wait for better distribution or very low rates. OK. I know for a fact that several large stakeholders are waiting for AE and Gateway (decentralized exchange) to trade their Nxt. It will be interested as you won't see these trades on any public exchange and therefore it won't have any effect on price. Many large stakeholders believe Nxt will skyrocket and are only holding. Nxt will have immense value in a couple months, several really big projects are going to be completed simultaneously. To talk about deletion/control of any Nxt account is ridiculous.

I can sell 1 BTC stake for 81 BTC. If interested, please PM me and let's do the deal with Anon136's escrow service and I can pay the escrow fee.
The above quotation is valid in 3 days, and I may change it after that.
HAHA, dear god.

Do we need 'proper' testers or can click-around-and-hope-for-the-best testers be useful? At this point he needs proper dev testers. It's a fairly technical project and there is no UI for the layman to test (like AE).

Yes,we are always following the Nxt Parallel Blockchain talk on Nxtforum. You mean the talk about nothing? +1 hahaha.

no licky, no dicky. No escrow, no IPO. I'll just buy it in the aftermarket after the price falls off a cliff from all the opening dumpers.
Thanks for the update on your investment strategy.

Seriously, it would help us a lot if you guys read the OP post.
It's not uncommon for terms/dates to change from OP, so it's not unusual to get these questions. Plus dinEDG has had several incorrect posts on shares and calculations, so I wouldn't be too judgmental. I update the post whenever there is a change. I'm not trying to belittle you. No worries, I'm not belittled it was more as a reference to answering those who ask questions, many of whom want a direct response from you.

Maybe, you can outline the following issues:
1) What is the purpose of the blockchain tree?
2) What is the root supposed to be?
3) Why focusing on the hosts for providing storage? In the Nxt realm, we focus on accounts as the primary subject. They might have several hosts associated with them but that is all. In case of StorageCoin, the hosts attribute of a Nxt account would be available for the network to send requests directly to specific hosts (to query data or store data).
+1, would like to hear from Dev on this one.
