I think "bent" wasn't the best word to use.

Some copper pipes are slightly off level = not even surface.
The surface of each pipe is completely flat = no damage there.

So tapping them on top of the cooler might make them move downwards, thus alligning them on a horizontal plane.

I might try that a bit later.

Just use a full tube of thermal paste! That'll fix it right up! lol

Mine was damaged as the front screw on the support bar wasn't screwed in, so the heatsink has free reign to bounce around. It's already back on it's way to KNC.

I wonder what kind of people work at the factory. How can you forget to screw everything right or leave the plastic cover on and still apply thermal paste all over it. Even a blind man will feel the plastic being on and remove it.

Just received my November Jupiters and there is damage. Here's the email I sent to support:

Quote

I just received my November batch Jupiters and 2 of the ASIC chips are extremely hot, reaching over 86C in a very cold room, which cannot be kept cold as it is the living room. The other ASIC chips vary in temperature from 38 to 57 degrees.
I removed the heatsink from the hottest ASIC to re-paste it and as you can see in the pictures provided it has been severely damaged during transit.
The base consisting of 4 copper pipes is supposed to be perfectly flat, so it has perfect contact with the heat spreader of the ASIC chip, but the pipes have been misaligned and bended and currently they do not sit at the same level as seen in the pictures.
The original metal plank that sits directly on top of the pipes has fallen off even though it is not supposed to as it is glued to the pipes.
Because of the uneven contact surface the whole heatsink is tilted backwards.

Also recently I bought an October Jupiter from (Phoenix1969) from Hawaii and it also arrived with one of the heatsink damaged it the same way. Until yesterday I was convinced it was damaged by being dropped as it looked impossible for such damage to happen during transit, but now with the units I have received directly from you it is obvious UPS are at fault. And his unit was packaged much better than yours - 2 separate boxes and a lot of thick bubble wrap.

Pictures from the Jupiters I received from you today: http://imgur.com/a/zrL2Z#0

Pictures from the Jupiter received a few days ago: http://imgur.com/a/zCCJk#0

The ASIC chips + boards are fine - it is just the coolers that are damaged. I have already ordered a replacement cooler for the Jupiter, not received directly from you, but would need to order 1 or 2 more for the damaged ones you sent me. I will appreciate it if you can pay for these or just sent me replacements.

Thank you.

If the units were damaged by shipment, via dropping or whatnot, and the heat pipe moved out of place.. why not just move it back in place? Am I missing something? The force of the drop moving the pipe can't possibly be much more than a few pounds.

I tried forcing the pipes by hand to allign so they make a flat surface, but they are not moving and I am afraid that if I apply too much force I can do even more damage.
I might get a small hammer, put a piece of rubber or other cushioning material and hit the end of the piper on the top of the cooler downwards.

THink that's bad? All ya gotta do is buy new heatsinks  Wink, here's mine:

True. Mine are easy to fix. I just have to leave the window open until the new coolers arrive.
I wonder what have UPS been doing with the package. Play football?

Look at how big the difference is in temperature:

but the power consuption is unclear as of now. 2500W or 3000W or 3500W?

Who cares, it's printing money  Grin
I am renting a flat and can't keep them at home especially in the summer, so will be looking to host them someplace else.
A small office space in a big building might be an option, but it is not very secure. My other option is anotherhost.

they might be not happy with such device to house but you have to check with them together.

It's too early. I am sure they will come up with a hosting plan once we are at least 1 month close to delivery.

Here is the new version of that chart icebreaker posted. looks very different now!

Only KNC miners exist near the top of the chart. Everything else is still a pipe dream. Ice makes me laugh!

who is AMT? never heard of them nor think they have a trust level which allow it to be listed on this high position in the table.

ASIC Miners in hand. They run auctions here and 180GH/s end at around 4.5-5BTC.

You are saying, that you paid 40 BTC for a Saturn...from KNC?
40 total?, or 46 total?.
Trying to grasp this....

I paid 40 BTC to KNC for my October Saturn, delivered Oct 28th (Some people paid 80 for a Jupiter at that time).

I paid 6 BTC for two upgrade modules, making it a Jupiter.

I've mined 15 BTC so far, thus I am down 31 BTC as of Today.

I bought when BTC was around $100 orso.

I'm just trying to point out that there are quite a few of us that paid BTC, that are never going to recoup their investment in KNC.

Shouldn't have paid BTC then?

Doesn't matter if you've payed with BTC or $
buying or holding BTC was the better way
I don't know... Everyone has different strategies....  there are several ways to make money here with btc and knc....
somehow, I still feel on top of things with 5 Neptunes on the way, and four grand in my pocket, another 5 btc in the wallet....
with about 12k in originally....
I for one am the shill of the century over KNC.... admittedly

You changed my post....nice!  You think nobody would notice?....   proves you are a true troll!
Why do you bother posting here?

Because he needs a medium to release all his spite as he is sour for not ordering any KNC miners  Wink
You are also turning into a real asshole cyper, which is amazing considering you were probably one of the last October orders they shipped. Hardly anyone was lied to more than you by KNC. You sure they didn't give you something extra to sweeten you up when you were in Stockholm last week?
OMG....  Looks like you hit the "nail on the head" CYPHER....

I think Avenger and Icebreaker should get together and pleasure themselves, while dreaming about owning ASIC hardware  Cheesy

What I see is a lot of coins sitting in my wallet from all the mining I have been doing, while you dream on how your Sierras will mine 3 times the TH/s using the same amount of power/space as my Jupiters.
I mined in the past and keep mining in the present, while you dream about the glorious future  Grin
Btw It will not surprise me if KNC deliver my 3x Neptunes before you get anything  Grin

I too see a lot of coins sitting in my wallet from my KnC group buys.  Not sure why you keep trying to rub in something I also benefited from.   Grin

Do you have any response to the fact that my Sierras will get triple the TH/W/sec, in 1/3 the space, as your KnCs?   Wink

My initial reaction would be to laugh at your gullibility.
I will believe 3TH/s and 1kW when I see it  Grin

LOL KnC.  I'll admit to being pleased with the fat dividends from my KnC group buys, but their time in the sun is rapidly coming to an end.

This is the dawn of the HashFast era.

ALWAYS BET ON iCE...

I decided to bet on KNC and look what happened  Grin

Yes, as I already told you, my KnC group buys are paying handsome dividends.  Good for us, good for KnC!   Smiley

But that's the past and the present.  You'll notice that your statement includes words like "decided" and "happened" which are past tense.

Looking forward to the near future, it's all about HashFast.

My Sierras will mine 3 times the TH/s using the same amount of power/space as your Jupiters.

For every one wafer HashFast buys, KnC has to buy three.  Do you see the obvious trend here?   Wink

Things are moving quickly! We finally have the first Golden Nonce chip, we began testing it —sending the first current through the 28nm chip to see how it performs. So far, things are looking very good. HashFast co-founder and CTO Simon Barber to give us the play-by-play of the first tests.

We brought up IOVdd first. Up to 1.8V — draws less than the minimum 10mA the bench supply reads.
Next core. Something odd was observed here. Initially, we saw high current draw as we brought the voltage up, reaching 0.7V where it was drawing 2.5A. As the voltage increased a little over 0.7v the current suddenly dropped to 82mA. It stayed there up to Vddcore=0.8v. This odd pattern of high current at low core voltage was repeatable. RST held low. MODE and BYPASS were held high. PLLVdd pulled to Vdd. All other inputs seemed to float low, with a 1Mohm impedance probe.
Next CLK was applied — first 37Hz. 4mA increase in Vdd core current. Took chip out of reset. No change. Next increase clock speed, this increases current. In a couple of steps, we got it to 6Mhz, where the core Vdd was drawing 548mA.
After a few minutes, we turned things off. On retrying, we didn’t find the same odd, high current during ramp of core Vdd. Perhaps this was due to CLK floating then, and not since?

Calling it a night, having trouble getting the serial port levels shifted correctly. Will continue in the morning.

— Simon

Over the next few days, the HashFast engineering team will be working intensely as they subject the GN to more tests. As we’re able to get them to break and give us an update, we’ll let you know how it’s going.

Simon will also be tweeting on the HashFast account — if you’re interested in seeing the results as the they come, follow us @HashFast on Twitter.

Hooray!

There is light at the end of the tunnel.  All you concern trolls, disgruntled obsessives, and misc haters can now stop worrying.

PCBs are fast and easy to make.  They have these newfangled things called "robots" that can populate a PCB with components in seconds.
