Who cares, it's printing money  I am renting a flat and can't keep them at home especially in the summer, so will be looking to host them someplace else. A small office space in a big building might be an option, but it is not very secure. My other option is anotherhost. |

I'm still down about 31 BTC on my Saturn/now Jupiter miner received in October, it's mining great, but I am not sure if it will pay for itself even in BTC? I do admit that the November batch will pay for itself easily, even in BTC, but for us October BTC purchasers, this is not the case. If you don't mind me asking.... How did you end up paying 31 BTC for a saturn, and 2 boards? I'm scratching my head on that one... same here I'm scratching my head. how did that happened? |

People want to know if a Neptune will pay out...
Here is an estimate based on the following...
A $12,995 Neptune with an all in landed cost of $16,000 including any required electrical work -- but probably not a UPS.
AT today's value of Bitcoins ($1020 per BTC) let's assume it takes about 16 coins...
Average difficulty increase of 25% per jump
Miner arrives... About week of March 22 -- 26th -- you will probably not get your 16BTC returned....
Miner arrives about March 5-12 -- you probably get your 16BTC back plus one -- maybe a few more.
Assume that the difficulty is only a 20% average (no worse than) increase per jump. As long as you get your miner by end of April 2014. You will get your investment of 15 Coins plus one -- maybe two by Mid November of 2014.
Assume that the difficulty is only a 15% average/typical (no worse than) increase per jump.
You will get your investment of 15 Coins plus one -- back if you get delivery before early July 2014.
Any improvement in those conditions means that you make a very considerable profit in bit coins.
The overwhelming factor is the difficulty increase -- vs the original Bitcoin investment -- any other discussion about any other factor is pointless.
It's just the math.
Now --as to the value of bitcoin -- that is an entirely different discussion. It is of course possible to pay out the Dollar value if Bitcoin soars in value -- say $2000 (USD) Plus.
Either scenario of low difficulty jumps or bitcoin at least doubling should satisy anyone who buys a Neptune and gets pre July 2014 delivery.
Anything less than the above makes it a very high risk investment -- worse than Junior Mining.
Again -- for coin return -- it's just math and difficulty increase.
For dollar return it's bitcoin appreciation against the $USD and the Euro.

They're saying Q1/Q2 delivery. That means end of Q2 delivery at best. Recalculate with a June delivery date. |

What would people think is fair compensation to host something like the neptunes. I can host a LOT of them, already wired up with a massive power feed in a secure, unmarked industrial building. I think it would be a fun experience, plus if there were enough of them we could run a private pool with rules and settings optimized perfectly. I'm just wondering if it would be worth it. I see the jankiest schemes here, "pay me xxx dollars for an imaginary share of your imaginary neptune and I'll pretend I'm gonna give you money" and people are paying. What would they do for an honest big host situation?

Oregon, USA. Cheap power, no sales tax.
I have no idea what the deal would be, I'd only do it if I could put some serious hardware into it. I pay a lot for this place and I just want to do something useful with my extra space.
