Another fuckin' thought came to mind before I headed back to the beginning of this thread. If BFL is such an up-and-up company, why is it that they are no longer accepting PayPal or Credit Cards--only Bitcoin, Dwolla, and bank transfers? Here's an idea to explore if you want a refund: Upgrade via a bank transfer, then the next day claw back all the funds. I am now on a crusade to bring these mother fuckin' clowns down. Am I the only one that hasn't seen a single one of their 28nm mining rigs? Furthermore, one of the reasons BFL gave for not honoring refunds is that they have already allocated funds to procure all the parts needed to build the entire backlog. Kind of throws that excuse out the window when scores of people are now able to cancel their order in lieu of an upgrade, doesn't it? It was mainly this fact that put me on this crusade. If he was civil, I wouldn't be here, but Josh dictated the path. Add to the lie about the FCC certification, and you see why BFL is in the position that they're in. Back in November, 2012, a bitcoiner kindly asked BFL about the FCC certification and how it's going. Josh kindly replied that BFL should have an answer in two weeks. I've shown that the FCC website had no record of them submitting any devices. I, among others, kindly asked, at first, why that's the case. Josh never answered the question. This has been going on for almost 10 months now. Josh lied so that more sales would be made at BFL, thus giving him a bigger commision, while all those who ordered due to that lie are FUCKED. And all from a company whose CEO, Sonny Vleisides, came here and stated that he's a new man and turned over a new leaf after his mommy got him an account on some dating service where he met his cousin and had a baby named Indy. Sadly, Yifu stood too close to this man in NYC, for the lies rubs off Sonny onto him. I can only imagine Josh's sad puppy eyes when Sonny's old Laissez Faire City buddies stop by the plant to talk about old times, while Josh is sitting there unable to converse at their conning level. I'm willing to bet Jeff Ownby gives him a quarter every day to buy a clue. And, if you think that I'm running outta ammo on these bastards, you're sadly mistaken, just like you're sadly mistaken that if you're at the end of the queue you're going to get your mining rig(s) before the end of the year. For shits and giggles, somebody get one of them countdown clocks that can be embedded in these posts set to end on September 16, 2013, the day after Sonny Vleisides' probation is scheduled to end due to his felony conviction for fleecing hundreds of millions of dollars from the elderly with his 15 year running lottery scam. Sadly, he was never charged with fleecing hundreds of millions more with his Laissez Faire City and other gambling site scams. Now, he's got people pissed off wanting their money back with his Webspawner.com site, of which now is in Jeff Ownby's name, the VP of BF Labs Inc. There is nothing unique about these delays reported all across the Bitcoin mining industry as it's what we see also see in the 'real world'.
Companies set deadlines and targets and issue statements which they genuinely believe to be accurate but due to unforseen circumstances are unable to honour.
The only difference is that in the 'real world' I might be getting angry because the roof hasn't arrived for the house I'm building, but the pool table has already.
Or, I might get angry because the Christmas present I wanted to give my wife is stuck in some sorting office somewhere until after New Year.
How we chose to conduct ourselves when we face adversity is what defines us.
None of this matters. Either Avalon contracted to deliver by a certain date or it didn't. If it missed that date it violated contract and can be legally held liable for damages and missing product. You are trying to frame it as if it all no big deal and everyone should just give up on trying to pursue any course of action to rectify the damages - just relax and let it all go. In the real world when people don't meet deadlines they pay for the damages. you are doing a disservice to the Avalon customers - trying to get them to stay quiet. I disagree with you. The only injustice I see here is a small group of people venting their anger and attempting to frame a Bitcoin start-up simply because it's late in delivering goods. Not every country in the 'real world' has a policy of sueing each other just becuse they feel hard done by. I've seen this over and over again. Mark my words, very soon this will all be forgotten and instead the angry voices will simply move on to another target. I don't have time to point out all the threads and evidence, but I suggest you read it, analyze it, and then read BitSyncom's lame excuses. While the Lifeboat Foundation was founded in the 21st century, until recently it was mainly funded using 20th century money, basically various types of monies backed by governments. Thanks to the encouragement of some of our larger donors we are now working to have the majority of our funding come from 21st century money — money backed not by governments but by algorithms. The 21st century money Lifeboat is currently focused on is bitcoins.
Historically government backed money has done a poor job in holding its .value. For example, the U.S. dollar has lost over 96% of its value since it was first issued. Many promote the idea of trading rocks (gold and silver) instead but this Bronze Age idea has various drawbacks including portability when local governments decide to confiscate it. As a futuristic organization, we should be promoting 21st century money and now we are!
Crypto-currencies have many advantages over old-fashioned government-backed money. For example they enable transparency, enabling Lifeboat to show that our endowment monies are stored in these wallets: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. They also allow people in less developed countries to have access to the rest of the world.
