I got slapped more than this guy or Sonny Vleisides did stemming from stopping in the middle of the road on purpose--twice. I now have an SR22, and I don't drink or do drugs.

I just received my Little Single (Oct 2012 order) today. What has occurred is they used us as investors when they should have been treating us like customers. They essentially took in preorders based on peoples trust in them on their FPGA equipment, and essentially used that money to make these products. That would explain why it took so long for them to actually start shipping products...

If only the above would have been brought to light last year. Oh, wait...

Fast forward to this year--YESTERDAY--I had a fellow Bitcoiner bring up why I'm bringing up ancient history. Answer: I can't see into the future, thus due diligence must currently be relied upon past events, regards of its age, i.e. Mr Ponzi.
7144  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 22, 2013, 07:30:39 PM
How about starting a BTCT stock to raise funds for legal action against Avalon.
The action this stock would get would be incredible..

That would raise money. But, how about a way that is definitely legal? Though, we should look further into what you suggested. I'm sure there are lawyers around here...
There are many ways, there are kickstarter type ways, class actions, just plain raising money, etc.
Avalon is in China or ? If they are not in the US, perhaps there is a problem, but even then...

I wrote Marco Santori a PM, maybe he posts an answer here. He could say how much he needs to get this starting. As far as I know (out of American movies  Wink), the lawyer gets paid by the amount he gets out of the accused.

Since they are now processing refunds, all you need to do is ask again.  Or you can be a monumental asshole and continue the FTC pursuit.

They are processing refunds? Says who?

Oh for FUCKS sake. Just let it go already. Product is shipping. The Jaly's have already moved into 2013 (finally!) and the others aren't terribly far behind, (exception: Minirigs)

You jackass's that are still dead set on taking down BFL are just going to piss off the rest of us who are finally beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

No, I'm not a shill. I've got hardware on order, and I'm just as annoyed as the rest of you at the delays.

DON'T FUCK IT UP FOR THE REST OF US!

As the last guy trying to get out of Pirate's Ponzi Scheme once said. In essence, "Let's shut this Pirate fucker down as soon as I get MY money out."
7147  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [MUST READ] Butterfly Labs FTC complaint on: August 22, 2013, 06:58:22 PM
I get what you're trying to accomplish, but if they go under and can't deliver a vast majority of orders they have already taken money for, and no one ever sees their thousands of dollars again, you will have way more pissed off people than we currently do now. I am patiently waiting for my Jala, and when I get it, I am going to turn it into a FrankenJala with some more chips once obtained, look to the brighter side of things. I'm not saying I support deceptive business practice, but they are pumping out more ASICs than any company currently. Crying out loud and getting a mob to follow may not be the smartest thing to do YET. Yeah they were delayed, but hell, at least they haven't ran away to Costa Rica to start Butterfly Liberty Reserves yet ^_^

Meanwhile, Jeff Ownby is selling the Costa Rican properties once owned by Laissez Faire City of which nobody was able to locate till I found them. Johann Gevers never listed those assets in the audit, nor ever mentioned Sonny Vleisides' name, always referring to him as James Ray Houston's son.

Then again, I'm just a monumental asshole. Pay me no mind.

Mount Prospect man in mail order marijuana case sentenced to probation

Quote
A Mount Prospect man who told authorities he ordered marijuana by mail from California in order to sell it to make a living was sentenced in Cook County Circuit Court today to 24 months probation.

Fred Vukadinovic, 62, of the 0-100 block of North Marcella Road, pleaded guilty in Rolling Meadows branch court to possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. Judge Kay Hanlon told Vukadinovic she was giving him probation due to his background, including service during the Vietnam War. She could have sentenced him to five years in prison.

Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Clarke said U.S. postal authorities and Mount Prospect police intercepted a package containing more than a pound a marijuana in March and placed a tracking device inside. The package was delivered to his residence and when Vukadinovic opened it, police arrested him, Clarke said.

Vukadinovic told police he had been receiving pounds of marijuana by mail for more than a year from a source in San Francisco and selling it because he was out of work, authorities said.

<apologies for quoting entire article, but provided source if you want to read the comments>

So, here we have a guy who has over a year purchased pounds of weed via the USPS via US dollars (safely assuming), and all he gets is 24 months of probations. But, heaven forbid one buys a couple ounces off Silk Road via Bitcoin, and...
7153  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bfl a scam? on: August 22, 2013, 09:45:19 AM
When a company provides refunds, then it's hardly a scam. Even a couple of my friends got bored of waiting and got their refunds approx 1 week ago.

This is a very naive argument: a good scam will always accept to pay / refund customers as long as the benefits outweights the costs: they earn more by saving time and getting more orders than it costs to pay back unhappy customers, until the trends of orders vs withdrawals reverses.
Madoff has been paying interests and allowing withdrawals until the trend of deposits VS withdrawals reversed.
Mybitcoin has been working as a normal wallet, allowing payments and withdrawals, until the trend of deposits VS withdrawals reversed.

Even pirate paid for almost a year, brainwashing people into trolling his detractors.

Even Zhou Tong's relic collector paid back the $50K he stole.

Bottom line, only consider BFL a scam iff they introduce a lower nm-based miner prior to clearing out their backlog, coupled with changing the delivery date of said miner days after garnering millions from such a sale based on a photoshopped image accompanied with specs that don't make sense. Since such a scenario is improbable, rest assure that even if such where to come to fruition, one will most definitely be assured refund protection when using PayPal or their credit card.

Ergo, lock the thread. Nothing more to see here.
7154  Economy / Scam Accusations / BF Labs Inc. announces that they are now taking pre-orders for 7nm-based miners. on: August 22, 2013, 09:28:30 AM
So what happens if BFL is late with their monarch card?

If people "upgrade" their orders, then it turns out the monarch is late (which it will be) won't they be entitled to a refund?

Not to worry,BFL has a contingency plan for that................

"Announcing the latest & GREATEST Miner ever!!! 14NM-Preorder NOW by upgradeing your old wore out order!!!!" Cheesy

And I took for granted you knew this guy named Sonny Vleisides...

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Globalfoundries-7nm-Chips-Set-for-2017-Launch-328849.shtml

Quote
We've already reported on the 14nm and 10nm plans, and how those processes will have both “pure” and hybrid variants.

Now we can safely say that the 7nm node is a sure thing for the future, or rather a goal that Globalfoundries has every intention of eventually reaching.

The report held no details on whether or not there would be both pure and hybrid versions, like with 10nm and 14nm.

It did make it clear that the processors would enter mass production by 2017 though.

If nothing else, Advanced Micro Devices is positioned to always have something new to base its APUs and CPUs on for the next half a decade.
7155  Other / Meta / Re: A bitcoin ponzi scheme scam ADVERTISED on bitcointalk.org ?? WHY??? on: August 22, 2013, 08:08:16 AM
I just read this entire thread, and unless I missed it, nobody has pointed out that site in question is just an ad running on Bitmit.

Quote
Bitmit is a global Bitcoin shopping platform on which people from all over the world can buy and sell goods.

It'll be as if the link went to an auction on eBay or to a Craigslist listing, either one of which, including the site in question, can be deleted by the site owner for whatever reason. With all due respect, theymos, I don't see how this was allowed. If the same was on a self-hosted site, then your argument may hold water, but since that's clearly not the case, I have to respectfully disagree.

Please correct me if my assessment is in error.

If this is allowed, I will then put up a page offering 4 to 1 bitcoins in X timeframe. At this penning, I'm already seriously thinking about doing such, for I clearly see the potential here. My only worries is the guy who've come in behind me and do 5 to 1, cutting into my business. Come to think of it, I could me that guy too, but then I'll have another worry of another guy offering up 6 to 1 unless, of course, I'm that guy too. But if another guy...

I would reject a really obvious Ponzi scheme, but this isn't so obvious IMO.
Would you kindly tell us an example of a ponzi scheme more obvious than this one?

If you keep this shit up adding no constructive discourse to this forum, I'll either make it my personal mission in life to get you banned from this forum or I'll leave this forum in protest for them allowing trolling.  I have no problem with you but your seriously acting like a fucking OCD patient in a psyche ward.

Jesus FUCKING CHRIST.

@Therymos Can we please give this guy a warning or a ban or something?

I really think this is your (our) best course of action.

if that's how the forum feels then I guess I'll go.

sorry for trying to be a voice of reason. I guess trolling is how things get done.

Actually, I offered up an olive branch before I even known one needed offering. Allow me to try again. Jacob, you're an alright guy, and so am I. You and I can easily have a civil discussion. Yes, I've been going over the top lately pertaining to BFL. I am a man of reason, so if you speak civilly to me, I'm more apt to come to your side of a thinking. Give it a shot, bud.
7158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 22, 2013, 06:05:41 AM

I hope they are NOT LATE for Chip Delivery. Now No News on Chips Progress. Why talk about the PCB when without the Asic Chips
nothing will work. Bitfury delay delivery to October.

By now end of August 2013 still No News on Chip Progress. Why? Critical is the Chip not the pcb board.

Ironically, I received that same image via PM yesterday from another user.

But that's not why I came here to post. As you all know, I've been busy sticking it up BFL's ass. To date, I've had no reason to check what's happening in Camp KnC. I do have one request though: If at any time KnC refuses to honor refunds, would somebody be so kind as to PM me and let me know?

Later, all.

7159  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BFL could be find $16,000 for each product the fail to ship on: August 22, 2013, 05:57:06 AM
With the cutbacks in the federal budget, I'm sure the FTC wouldn't mind an exact $16,000 X 10,000 (conservatively speaking) = $160,000,000 in their coffer. If by a slim chance BFL doesn't have the full amount, the FTC could easily just take all they currently have with the rest owed.
7160  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BFL could be find $16,000 for each product the fail to ship on: August 22, 2013, 05:52:36 AM
From the FTC website:

http://business.ftc.gov/documents/bus02-business-guide-mail-and-telephone-order-merchandise-rule

This is a VERY interesting read!!

Some of the key points:

1) after ordering, BFL had 30 days to deliver our product. If they were not able to ship in that time frame, they were to notify all customers and ask if they wanted to maintain their order. By 60 days of not shipping, they were to contact ALL customers and offer to refund their money, if they were not able to contact the customer, then they were required to refund the money.

2) They are also required to refund the money if the customer requests a refund if their product has not shipped. Note this is completely different than BFL’s policy of not refunding because “we are shipping product”.

3) It is also VERY interesting that BFL is exposing themselves to fines of $16,000 per occurrence of breaking the rules. Since they are breaking the rules for EACH and EVERY customer, this alone could be enough to break this company if people start complaining to the FTC.
