6441  Other / Beginners & Help / Phriend of Phinn or: How to get Outta Newbie Jail Quickly on: September 23, 2013, 11:47:00 PM
Important EDIT: This thread was penned under the impression that it took 4-5 hours of reading time for one to get out of Newbie. That is not the case. It only takes 4 hours of actual clock time to complete the task with, of course, only one post.

That said, feel free to post whatever you desire in this thread, but please consider donating to Sean's Outpost, a truly noble cause.

Full disclosure: I am in no way affiliated with Sean's Outpost, although Jason King is affiliated with Bitcoin 100 of which I founded, but now Rassah is the Director (self-imposed title).

Thank you.

Bruno Kucinskas

Full Disclosure: This thread is not sanctioned by theymos or ever discussed in Meta. I simply took the incentive to create such a mechanism as another way for people to surpass the TOS of this forum so that they're able to interact more quickly.

That said, the process consist of paying to get outta of Newbie Jail. The price? $12.50 USD via Bitcoin payable to the following address: 1M72Sfpbz1BPpXFHz9m3CdqATR44Jvaydd

The address coincides with this thread: The Mega Thread that Feeds People in Need (1M72Sfpbz1BPpXFHz9m3CdqATR44Jvaydd)

In essence, the people choosing this route is saving themselves 4-5 hours reading time ONLY as required by the TOS of BitcoinTalk. The other requirement--posting once--will be met when they post to this thread showing proof that the $12.50 USD donation was made, with Blockchain.info being the desired method, but others are welcome as long as the mod(s) in charge of releasing Newbies into the wild can easily verify.

The 4-5 hour reading requirement is in place so that people not verse in Bitcoin must do some reading on the subject on this forum. Otherwise, sans the wall, the place would be crawling with silly willy-nillies, hence why the wall was erected in the first place.

But, by being a Phriend of Phinn and donating bitcoins to Sean's Outpost, a noble cause, you would clearly demonstrate that you do have a more than rudimentary understanding of Bitcoin and shouldn't have to burden yourself with the grueling task of reading for 4-5 hours when you may only want to come here to interact a couple/few times on one subject/thread/issue.

In closing, either pay-to-play (humor, and for lack of a better term), or go to the Newbie Release Me Thread, of which it may take hours for one of the drunk mods (definitely humor!) to read your request, let alone act upon it.

Most the mods, sans the ones I got fired (not really, I don't think), like me, and should be able to recognize that anybody posting in this thread is worthy of being released from Newbie ASAP, hence not giving a rat's ass what theymos thinks (I don't think, but better include a smiley  Wink NTL).  But, if I were you, I would hedge my bet by going over to Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) and post the appropriate link to my thread (this), thus showing further proof that you're not a real n00b.

Thank you in advance to all those who've opted for this option, and have contributed to Sean's Outpost via 1M72Sfpbz1BPpXFHz9m3CdqATR44Jvaydd to get outta Newbie Jail free (or is that an oxymoron?).
6442  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Mega Thread that Feeds People in Need (1M72Sfpbz1BPpXFHz9m3CdqATR44Jvaydd) on: September 23, 2013, 10:51:46 PM
I just realized why yesterday's goal wasn't reached--the Chicago Bears were playing Pittsburg of which Da Bears won. That, and perhaps the goal was too high.

Therefore, today I'm only going for a Field Goal--[3]. Three people is all that's desire for the duration of today (CST) to donate $1.25 USD each.

To make it even more interesting to help surpass that goal, the first 10 people or transactions (even if done so by one person) that contribute exactly (or close enough) $3.75 (3 X $1.25), I will match their donation.

Full Disclosure: I'll be doing such with the Kool Aid money. Those not aware of the backstory, don't fret it.

Now, please excuse me while I head on over to Newbie and start a thread, one that'll probably make theymos cringe, but hopefully not that badly. Code Term: Phriend of Phinn.  Grin

6443  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Crypto Currency Conference 2013 (Oct. 5th) Atlanta, GA on: September 23, 2013, 06:48:34 PM
With CNN only three miles down the road from The Twelve, is there anyway somebody can put together an impromptu Satoshi Square prior to the conference so that maybe CNN reports, among others, would have a first hand experience prior to their covering the conference. BTW, who's making sure that CNN, and/or other news outlets, will be on hand for the conference?

Remember, the main human interest story is Austin and Beccy of Life on Bitcoins.

Surely, we don't want a missed opportunity considering...

I'll be there with a booth for www.atlantabitcoin.com. Please stop by and say Hi! If all goes as planned, I'll have a Lamassu ATM device there to demo.

There will be a Meetup at Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Buckhead on Thursday.
Friday there is a mixer at the Bitpay offices.

6-8PM — Welcome reception at the offices of Bitpay in Atlanta [Suite 516, Atlanta Tech Village.  Directions.] Tatiana Moroz will be on hand to perform at around 8:00pm. Don’t miss it!

Not wanting to take away any thunder, would you be so kind as to list this meetup in this section as a standalone thread? I plan on attending since I'm driving in and already planned on getting to Atlanta early.

Refuse the package if you dont want it. If you do sign for it, you will still pay.

And yeah, its likely no coincidence, but when did you guys place your orders? Does it fit with Jody's shipping list or where these also sent out of order?

How can there be such a disconnect from what Jody states, since she's head of shipping, and orders being shipped outta queue after a PayPal refund was issued?

http://www.butterflylabs.com/management-view/jody-drake-7/

Quote
As General Manager, Ms. Drake leads the Customer Service team, the Shipping Department, Human Resources and general office purchasing. She is also Secretary/Treasurer of the Corporation.

Prior to joining Butterfly Labs, Ms. Drake has run her own graphics design business, managed a commercial photography studio and supervised field teams for the US Census Bureau . She has also helped manage a hospital ward at Brooke General Hospital in the US Army.

There is no way that one of nine other people in a 14' X 30' (approximated) room is able to have so many refunded out-of-queue pre-orders shipped without the others, let alone the lead personal, know about it unless they were approved, but by whom? Prior to the assumed influx of PayPal reversals, such an act would've been unfathomable, yet here we are and after a systems upgrade which would've made this event even more unlikely.

Jody's daily blog outlining what was shipped reflects just that, and not what's been sent to the shipping department to be shipped. That said, then why are refunded out-of-queue pre-orders not represented in said blog posts?

If there's no oversight in the office, how does BFL know that somebody in shipping isn't bringing in their own shipping labels and attaching them to boxes prior to the carrier's arriving? The USPS isn't going to check if each and every box has some official BFL shipping label attached. Their only concern is that the postage was properly paid, along with the shipping vitals being actuate. The only way BFL would become aware of such an act is if too many orders assumably shipped turn up not delivered, too many to blame on USPS error.

Just bought plain tickets, hotel, and car rental for that Altanta conference. Hope you'll be there Phinn, cause it's the ONLY reason I'm coming.

Just came back from the doctor and found out that I have a gallstone...  Grin

I'll be there, bud. I hope edd can make it so that I can pay for his ticket as well, Jason King being the other I've already sent.

Between the 3(4) of us, perhaps we can be as productive as you were in San Jose for Bitcoin 100.

Please, and I'm dead serious about this, tell me what you thought was going to happen after we shipped all of our products? Did you think difficulty would remain the same or go down?

Josh forgot to add a third choice: Would the difficulty go up? BTW, this is the correct answer, but then it wouldn't have been a rhetorical question, along with giving the previous "dead serious" question cred.

Taking the two sentences combined, it's difficult to ascertain if Josh truly is dead serious or simply offering up a rhetorical choice.
6451  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL and 2 months on: September 23, 2013, 03:27:57 AM
It's a moot point.  Since their units were sold at fixed price the more they shipped the quicker the units became unprofitable to buy so the incentive to ramp up was never there anyways.  With units currently unprofitable to buy at all and they can't drop prices since there's still a backlog I'm curious to see their next step.

Their next step was to shift the pyramid scheme over to the monarch, not very successfully so they introduced
the cloudf#cking power pyramid. As each pyramid starts to crumble a new one is built. The ultimate Ponzi Pyramid Scam.

Stay on and take your loss, or jump to the next and loose your sanity.  Shocked Am not playing anymore..I was never sane in the first place.

For only $50 a month, you too can now enjoy...

6453  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL and 2 months on: September 23, 2013, 01:47:41 AM
BFL seems to be ramping up production, so it's time for a gut check.
Must be because their wallet is on fire.

Strange, they suddenly found the motivation to ship quickly after all these months...
I wonder why they are able to deliver in such quantities only after the profitability of their products dropped to zero. It almost seems that the units were produced long before and this fraudulent company has been mining with customers hardware while it was sustainable. There was few 200 TH/s drops last week. It could be that some significant hashing power was disconnected for few days - as if it was in transport.

There's no proof that they are significantly mining with units, albeit that's what's been suggested, but units were not assembled a while back and are now those that are being shipped. The facility is honestly geared to assemble and ship, shy of any units pulled for management's used of which I tend to believe but, again, no formal proof. Iff that were the case, rest assume that that's probably not the case now. I don't monitor the TH/s rate.

It is sad to see what PG has become...  A sock puppet for BFL...  I guess it is true what they say everyone has a price!  You should add a disclaimer on the bottom that you have accepted free hardware from BFL so people know you are biased.

So true! My price was only ~$450 of which I'm donating. I should've held out for $600. Also, I shouldn't have taken fours days outta my schedule to go to KC.

Care to take back your statement?

The major thing that has changed since (in fact prior) to my trip to KC is anything resembly vitriol like my previous postings.
6454  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buy Precious Metals With Bitcoins? Coinabul? on: September 23, 2013, 01:24:35 AM
Hi, I was wondering if anyone can vouch for coinabul or recommend any other legitimate precious metal for bitcoins sites. thanks in advance.

How is it that you can create a website and a Bitcoin address, but not know how to use a search option on a forum? Apologies for being an ass.

The search function is dreadful. I rarely find what I am looking for, although it's probably user error.

Let's say I'm new and wanted to see if Coinabul is a scam. What two words should I use in the search box of this forum to see if the results are dreadful?
I've actually seen both positive and negative feedback on this forum before about coinabul and I was also wondering about other places other than coinabul like the one Holliday has recommended.

Now, can anyone else vouch for AmagiMetals?

Somebody, dig up that infamous YouTube video of Jay. Once seen, you wouldn't pre-order a Milky Way bar from that dude.

6459  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: will bitcoins recover from mtgox? on: September 22, 2013, 08:52:54 PM
It seems like Mt.Gox has made a mess of things and still hasn't sorted things out.
Needless to say that other exchanges like coinbase and bitstamp will take its place.
The question is wherever Mt.Gox has made more people wary.
Sites like foodler still tie their prices to Mt.Gox...

Of course, there's still millions that are tied up there for safekeeping when Bitcoinica liquidated, $10,000 of which was belongs to an elderly chap here in Sandwich, IL, due to me giving him my blessing at the time that the Bitcoinica was a safe place to invest.

After Bitcoinica went belly-up, I was out $20K+, and still feel the effects from that fiasco due to people here in Sandwich, IL, believing that I'm the key guy behind Bitcoin and most the scams that have taken place. They see me flush with money (somewhat), not believing that it's truly from barn wood sales, even after having to move a couple of my warehouses due to zoning and EPA concerns and cleanup due to lead paint, plus believing that I donate to the local Autism charity because my conscience is eating at me for ripping off so many people.

Prior to Bitcoin, I was well-known because my dad and I donated and resold cheaply furniture to the locals. After his passing, I'm now well-known for nefarious reasons, thanks to Bitcoinica. BTW, it was during that time frame that my ignore turned orange, having probably only a couple people ignoring me prior. It's a shame that after giving Xian a stronger voice, he too now ignores me for falsely believing I drink the Kool Aid and took a bribe, of which all that monies will be donated to Bitcoin related causes--then some.
