[1,215] people fed!

Thanks a lot, bitcoinchecker. You can see this transaction in Post #2 of this thread. I'm also adding [1] to the count, showing proof in a sec of the transaction.

EDIT: Here's the proof: https://blockchain.info/de/tx/0a2fd7f328d7d838b41e3ff6566e0d058b617dce8275d616d31024e66006d99e

So this is a cross post from Reddit. The user their has a noob account here so he can't post yet. here's what he wrote over there...

KEXP-FM (90.3 FM) is a public radio station based in Seattle, Washington, that specializes in alternative and indie rock programmed by its disc jockeys. Its broadcasting license is owned by the University of Washington, which operates the station in a partnership with Paul Allen's Experience Music Project. The station was formerly operated under the call letters KCMU. For the majority of its schedule, KEXP broadcasts a mix of primarily alternative rock. The station also features weekly speciality programs dedicated to particular musical genres, including rockabilly, blues, world music, hip hop, electronica, punk, and alternative country. Live, in-studio performances by artists are also regularly featured.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KEXP-FM
I'm not from Seattle but I've been listening to their online stream almost daily for a number of years now. They're a great station and currently in the middle of a fundraiser, and so I thought I'd come here to see if there's any interest in pooling some money together and offering it to them under the condition that they accept bitcoin. They have a pretty big audience and it'd make for some easy publicity for bitcoin. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take much to get them to accept either, as most of their funding comes from donations from the general public.
Any other fans willing to throw in some coin? I figure we can pledge separately and contact them individually, but in some sort of concerted effort, or pool it (doesn't have to be me that collects the money) and offer it as a single lump sum. I'll probably email them myself regardless of what happens here but it'd be nice to be able to offer them a few grand to set up an account with Bitpay or Coinbase.

____________________

I think this is a good idea, and if you guys are cool I would be happy to reach out to them. I read alot about them and it seems to be a really good station.  If we could get them to accept, they might announce it on the air.

What do you think?

Being that they are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and located in the states, BitPay would easily be ideal payment provider for them with zero fees ever.

If KEXP seems keen to the idea of embedding a Bitcoin donation option onto their website, I see no problem with them getting a $1,000 USD endowment from Bitcoin 100. If such were to occur, I'm pretty sure they would be the first radio station to accept bitcoins.

For an added sales pitch (for lack of a better term), bring attention to them that it's not outside the realm of possibility to pick up an advertiser or two from entities that are Bitcoin-based.

InstaWallet 2.0? Surely not! Currently, I can't view, receive or send anything. At least I'm not stupid enough to have them hold 1,000+. Been there, done that. But they are still entrusted with a nice chunk of change of mine. Here's to hopin' I don't go postal. Chances are it's just a glitch, but if not... Mongo no very happy now.

..get the homeless more involved with the preparation of this food

Awesome!
Jason, I honestly think you are writing history with this!

Even just reading your posts and updates makes me feel like it's christmas!

Any chance you could share some photos of the action? The Outpost already has such large dimensions, like the huge amount of lunchbags made, I can't imagine how it looks like when it's getting busy there! :-)
No priority, obviously.

Also, after a mere 24h, I already feel late to the party:

Looking forward to shake your hand, Jason, someday, somewhere.

/edit: Ah, complicated math! :-)

I would love to shake your hand. People like you are who make what Sean's Outpost does possible. I will never forget that. It's so awesome to do so much good with BTC.

You rock.

...since you donated 1 BTC at the current exchange rate. I'm taking the liberty and using the 102 number unless somebody sees an error I'm missing.

Thank you so kindly, Ente.

Two previous 1 BTC donations more closely equated to 100 (X $1.25) fed, hence reflecting such in Post #2. I will kindly adjust them if shown that I was mistaken at the time. I'm doing the maths as best I can, considering I have a rod...

Awesome, dude!

Running Tally: [1,092] people fed! (no counting Ente's 102 as seen in the above post, and comment upon below)

While updating Post #2, I had Blockchain still opened on another tab due to verifying this transaction, and I heard a beep. Looks like somebody else just recently donated to Sean's Outpost, of which may or may not become part of the running tally, but I'm leaning toward it will. We'll soon see.

Update: Yep! Ente's post above this one. Now I have to do some more work. This sucks, but in a good a way.

I just want to be on record in stating that I'm personally going to be donating a whole lot more, but at [1] at a time to act as bumps when needed as this journey continues.

Quick aside: I called about obtaining another warehouse today, and the guy was describing to me what'll be available in a few days. I said to him that it sounded like Joe's unit, whereupon he asked me if I knew Joe. Then he informed me that Joe was recently killed in an auto accident. I've supplied a many wood to Joe, and now it looks like I'm going to be leasing his old shop of which I've always wanted. Life is so odd, don't you think?

I see what you were trying to do there, but you blew right past it. I believe you missed the 25 count added to the 810, thus only needing 165 to reach the target. I'm adding your 190 to Post #2, unless I did the maths incorrectly.

That said, you da man!

Now, this is getting outta hand! It was almost 21 hours ago that this thread started and look where it's at now. BTW, thanks, glitch, for your more than kind donation.

I'm not sure if anybody realizes it or not, but some of the donations came from other countries, namely Germany (I believe), so that people in Florida could eat.

Only 165 (X $1.25) to go to reach 1000, but who's counting?
6556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Mega Thread that Feeds People in Need (1M72Sfpbz1BPpXFHz9m3CdqATR44Jvaydd) on: September 17, 2013, 02:04:31 AM

I'm putting you down for 12, but please correct me if my maths is mistaken. If correct, your donation makes the current grand total 800 people fed. Thanks again, knight.

After I get my expenses and etc paid for for my hosting, I think I will donate  a btc or 2 a month to this Smiley

It'll truly be appreciated when you get around to it, bud.

And 10 it is, bringing the tally to...

[810] people fed!

I will NOT try to have this hit 1000 within 24 hours, for you guys have already done more than was even dreamt of.

BTW, Jason King didn't have a clue that I had this up my sleeve.

Phinnaeus Gage if you have time on your hands found you a new project. http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-table-from-old-barn-board/

What he built, wouldn't even fetch $150 at a flea market, let alone trying to mimic an $800 table. The wood he used wasn't even old growth lumber. Look at the growth rings--too wide. Then he over planned the lumber, taking away all the patina, if it had any to begin with. Genius!

The lumber he used, I burn. The lumber he should have used would have cost him $20. The base also sucks for most any primitive/industrial market.

Here's what he should have build, but without planning the top, priced at $1,000.

Quick aside: Does anybody know how to Kool Aid stains out of a beard?
Bleach works well, but you have to dip the beard carefully and not get any on your skin.  Bonus for you is you're already gray, so no one will notice the bleaching.

Sure... but if you bleach the hair then the Kool-aid will act like a dye when PG drinks more of the Kool-aid
Wait wait wait... where is PG getting this Kool-Aid from?!?!?!?  DAMMIT PG!

Damn it, bcp19! Now we have to declare the year supply of Kool Aid we BOTH received from our gracious host. It never ends!
