... Will the New Year's GB still be going on Monday?
We didn't decide yet. RoadStress decided, we'll extend to Monday midnight.

OK, I've done a recovery and now have the SP20 no longer reporting that it is an SP10. I updated the firmware to the 2.5.64 and seem to be back at square one regarding the unit not hashing. It runs for about 5-6 minutes and then turns off cgminer. During that time it's 100% discards. After that, the ASIC tab shows no adapter. Before that, there was one.
This is on CKPool. I have another SP20 running just fine on it.
Contact our technical support, the details are in the technical blog. We'll RMA after a diagnostic session.

... regardless, i am 100% certain the cable was at fault, not the sp20e as it isn't even OCd.
upon replacement of the cable its back running at 1430-1510GH/s @ 940W
Temp Front / Back T,B 31 °C / 71,72 °C Fan Speed 90 Start Voltage 0.67 / 0.67 / 0.67 / 0.67 Max Voltage 0.7 Max Watts 215 / 215 / 215 / 215
Thank you for clarifying.

How is the performance in a moderate temperature environment?
eg -6 to +6 deg C
It improves slightly, and it does not like a 35c room it does a little worse. I keep my noisy miners in an outdoor shed. Are you saying i will get better than the advertised 1700ghs at 0deg C ? If so, thats great. any way to get group buy price without rewarding RS? Not interested in supporting people or companies that feel the need to troll others` threads to promote their own products, that behavior reeks of insecurity about something..... looking for about 16 new miners The SP20 usually achieves more than 1750 GHs in 0C, assuming enough power. It's not very efficient machine at those levels, around 1250-1300 Watt at the wall with good PSU. We do have ASICs variations, the new ones are better. You don't need to pay the reservation fees. Only 40% are going to RoadStress. It's recommended to do so.

Edit: I read the rest of the thread. This is not a temperature issue. My bad.
Well it is a bit of a temperature issue, just the other type of temperature and in a very small localised area My good news tonight is that my SP31 just shut down and I can't get it looked at till tomorrow. We're ready to assist ... That you Guy? Hope someone just kicked the cable out or something. I could have got support to do an immediate call out but I've got a new firewall going into the rack tomorrow and everything is being moved around so it can wait. Hopefully nothing serious, otherwise I'll be taking you up on your offer It's me, going to sleep ... You know Zvisha's Skype ...

@phil - yep sp20 end, #3 loop. but all look slightly toasted. and it wasnt OCd at all, been running fine since arrival.
still confused, but jet-lagged so cant think straight
@ epoch - from what i was told, flashing green = searching for IP/connection. usually lasts a few seconds (check ether cable?)
You might be thinking of the front LED; it isn't that one that's flashing. It's one of the rear LED's on one of the PSUs. Normally that PSU LED is on solid green; mine starting blinking and I don't know what that means ... it must mean something bad, since 1/2 of my SP30 stopped hashing ... I assume it is the half powered by that blinking PSU. Please contact support@ for technical diagnostic and PSU RMA if needed. Did you try switching the PSUs ?

Thx guys, one cable end is fried, other 3 are slightly scorched. ...
Edgar, what PSU and cables did you use ? Can you ship them for inspection ?

... Might re-think your confidence in sp20 safety, apparently they are at risk of causing electrical fire! ...
Not my thread, I'll be quick. Using the SP20 with quality rated cables is perfectly safe. We have thousands SP20s in the wild and it's the second reported instance. The first instance was confirmed as connector issue.

Yes it does. Thanks I've tried the FR and that didn't change the FW. I found the tech blog and how to create a recovery sd. Except after doing it, noticed it was a micro SD slot. Had to head home, so was hoping I could just load a correct firmware version from file since I can do that remotely. Haven't been able to locate their firmware files on their website or github yet. I looked for you as well but could not find them available. I am sure SP will provide support but they are in the middle of the New Year right now. Looks like the micro SD route is your best bet though. Appreciate your looking. I'd call it a definite bug though if the SP20 let's you select SP10 firmware We'll check the issue, but as Duce wrote, follow the micro SD recovery procedure in the technical blog.

Please note that my Miner Monitor app should now work with all Spondoolie hardware. Based on some helpful conversations with Spondoolie techs and other feedback, I have strong reason to believe this will work for SP20, SP30, SP31, and SP35 units, and it may work with SP10 units. Things of note: - This is a Windows .Net app. I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get this to run on a Mac or Linux w/o running a Windows VM. - You still need to enable API access by making a minor change to the cgminer.conf. How to do that is detailed on the first post in the link below. If it's possible, I intend to change this requirement in a future version. - I don't have access to all types of Spondoolie units to test this. I know it works with SP20s and SP35s, and I have reason to believe it'll work on SP30 and SP31. If an SP10 user (with local access) can send me the API output from my app, I can make whatever changes are necessary for SP10 support. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=596178.0I intend to keep my posts in this thread about my app minimal. In light of that, please post any feedback/questions in my support topic. M Thank you for enhancing your app to monitor our miners. Have you thought about using Mono / Xamarin to port it to other platforms?

Humor is okay! I don't think he really means to hope our hardware to catch on fire! We know he is not that evil! Good group of guys over there, too!! He has a bitter experience with that already... Bitcoin World is evolving so fast and most of us works 24/7 non-stop with naps in between with super charged coffee or caffeine loaded drinks, we have to have humor and be positive to stay healthier YOSHI from Bitmain *normally support staffs are monitoring this account... ... if they have spontaneous combustion issues with the S5 ...
One can only hope Dude. Not cool. As long as BitcoinWarranty / Yoshi are taking it with Humor (and they do), it's ok. tushay lol
