By the time, i know more than ten cases of heart conditions of vaccinated people in the range of 40-70 years of age.
Last case yesterday, the uncle of my wife, no preconditions.
Stay away from me with that shit!

i have a (pre existing) heart condition so i get ekgs, nuclear stress tests and ultrasounds of my heart done more or less regularly. no change at all to my heart from tests before 2 pfizer shots to about 4 months after the 2nd. none. ive had no tests after the booster though.

of course my sample size of one isnt much, but since im the actual data point i can verify my sample size of one with a high degree of accuracy i think.

now  i dont use the "i know of people" data set as a rule (no offense to OOM) but, why not: in my circle ive not heard of ANY adverse reactions among maybe 20 people i personally know that were vaccinated, aside from soreness, fatigue and similar.

edit: and im an old fart near that upper end of your age range listed above

so, CB, we gonna do that "up" thing soon.?    well maybe like, soonish?   or even, well... sometime anyway?

yeah, that would be great
783  Other / Off-topic / Re: [WO/Hat-Gang Only - MODERATED] The fucking COVID vax thread (No hat? Fuck off!) on: January 09, 2022, 10:12:57 AM
The differences are so imperceptible, you'll need a faulty PCR test to tell you that you've got it.  Roll Eyes  Wink

well if you die, then it was probably not the cold. so there is that way to tell without testing too.

Since the poll is still broken, I suggest a mini poll: What will be the top price in the next week. I say 50 750$. Reasons: quite often after a 30%+ dip from the ATH follows a 25% increase from the bottom. I believe 40 600$ was the bottom, hence the number. If this is not the bottom, better prepare your wallets for the brief opportunity to buy below 40K. Grin

high price in the next week? ill go with whatever proudhon says minus one dollar. the minus one dollar thing is because hes so well known to be overly optimistic all the time so..

lowest buy ive hit is 41.4k usd so far.
785  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2022, 03:58:22 PM

Prepair for $35k - $40k range that would be the final bottom.

thems rookie numbers

just wait til proudhon gets here with MANLY (err aplacaly?) numbers. you will know real shame then.

There will be no more large 80-90% decreases in Bitcoin anymore.

honey-badger: hold my beer.. idgaf lol

Am I reading this wrong in thinking I should hold off a bit longer to buy a dippier dip? My DCA isn't due until tomorrow anyway, so kinda asking for support for resisting a reverse FOMO buy. (I have occasionally pulled the trigger on DCA buys a day early beat out a weekend pump) I'm just not used to Downs yet as I'm still a bit new at this.

If your DCA is due tomorrow, not today, then I'd recommend buying tomorrow - because that's when your DCA is due. Rushing in to buy falling knives is always very risky move. This will also help to maintain your disciple with DCA. If you start buying early, you're also likely to be buying late, therefore trying to trade price instead of time. I imagine JJG will otherwise give you all the relevant info on dollar cost averaging...

even with DCA setting some fiat aside (if feasible) for "lulz" type of buys is useful. for example i mine shitcoins to directly exchange to btc.  that is how i DCA.

but i also didnt really pay attention to price so when i saw the other day i just did a snapshot buy at ~43.3k

tldr: dca with extra dip

That's right folks! Our reptile overlords are gonna keep pumping you full of the same shit, and keep pretending it has any meaningful efficacy.

At all.

i dunno man. at this point i think team vaccine is in a "collect them all!" type of mentality. "limited (lol) series!"

i would think if the lizards want our brains liquefied (via "vaccine" or some other drug/trojan hourse) why didnt they just make something addictive. them people would actively seek it out.

In fairness, there are more pot shops and liquor stores than donut shops in Canada now!, so they're not not trying (to liquefy our brains).  OH! ...but you will need to be vaccinated to partake in the addictions.

https://thepointsguy.com/news/quebec-alcohol-cannabis-vaccine-mandate/

! may or may not be true

new dispensaries are popping up like mushrooms around here.

i have to show my license/ID several times to buy the weed. plus, their policy is masks, so i and everyone else masks up. and no one seems to care about it. if they want a vaccine card to enter at some point (they currently dont), hey ill gladly have one of those handy too. it might even be legit.

in other news turns out the (unvaxxed) husband of a friend whos expecting found out the hospital will not allow the dad in the delivery room when it happens because hes not vaccinated. so unless he gets the shots..

789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos says to stop using paper wallets, do you agree? on: January 05, 2022, 02:29:55 PM
I see quite often how beginners who did a bit of googling decided that paper wallet is the safest option and plan to create one of those "print out your private key" wallet types from the early days. I completely agree that they are outdated because writing down your seed is better in everything. It doesn't require you to have a trusted printer, because you can write it with pen and paper, it doesn't have a problem with change addresses, it's a bit more resilient to damage, it's much more convenient for sending BTC.

thing is, those old school private key paper "wallets" still work. exactly as they did 10 years ago, and will 10 years from now. nothing fancy.. just works

seeds are better now but i used straight up paper wallets back in the day and as long as you know what you were doing they work.

that being said i had an awful few minutes once when i swept a paper wallet wrong and almost donated the change to the miners. luckily the change went back to the original addy in my case. but it sucked waiting lol

Definition of a two fisted drinker....
When one cracks another cold beer, because the last tinny, (half done), was placed in a stupid location and lost track of,
and then subsequently, it is discovered while drinking the fresh one....

or the 1st beer is obscured by smoke from the bong..

the yubi is better you need the key and can not fake it (we hope)

ive had coinbase protected by yubikeys for years. so far so good. but afaik no one has ever tried to hack it either.

make sure you have at least two set up.. one as a backup if one is lost/dies. you can register several. not sure if coinbase has an upper limit as to how many you can register.

Example: You are married, have 200K income and 200K long term cap gains.
Your "regular" combined income is taxed at 32%, but your longterm cap gains are taxed at 15%.
See the table in here:
https://erwealth.com/podcastblog/will-capital-gains-push-me-into-a-higher-tax-bracket
Quote
Capital gains will not cause your ordinary income to be taxed at a higher rate..
So, again, long-term capital gains are taxed at different rates and separately from your ordinary income.

Unless i completely misunderstand their "slang" it appears that you could be taxed differently for reg income and for cap gains.

Correct. So your 80k 0% CG tax applies to 80k if you don't work a day all year, but for every day you work that 0% is replaced by the income tax rate. So the best option is to be a complete louse, live off your LTCG and pay zero taxes on the first 80k. Which by the way is equal to a 100k "salary" because of all the taxes that cum out.

After that it's taxed at 15% up to a couple of hundred G (half million or so). That may seem a lot, but remember there is no Social Security "tax" nor is there any Medicare or employment taxes. So it's lower than you think. This is why it's good to be rich.

However you can't contribute to an IRA or 401k with CG money, you need to have income. Which leads to my real fun question:

If on Jan 1 you redirect 100% of your salary to a 401k, then quit once you hit $19500 (the 401k limits), do you still get the whole 80k CG at 0% rate because the 401k was a "top line" (before AGI) deduction or is it based on total income?

Is health insurance paid for by CG profits deductible? Since Health insurance is another top line deduction can you work an extra few weeks for that money and still get the 80k 0% CG tax rate?

Inquiring minds want to know. :-)

i just figure im fucked no matter what. so meh.

I mostly watch Blu Ray as I still maintain the quality is superior compared to most streaming I've seen, mostly in the audio actually. On the PS5 disc edition it is quite glorious. Best way to enjoy my home theatre.

Will probably re-watch a couple of Christmas movies over the next few days: Scrooged, Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, Die Hard and maybe even A Wonderful life. That sort of stuff.

same. as my inet sucks i would have to stream in low quality if indeed i could get even that. so bluray is it for me.

i also have a denon 7.1 receiver with audyssey for eq and use my old 4x10" ampeg bass cab as a sub. all run off my home built HTPC of course. it does the trick.

misophonia sucks, so ive been into home theater for decades, even before it was cool.

took 7k of my rescued coinbase money and got some gear.

get some yubikeys and make it part of your permanent kit. best 2fa yet, or close to it.

coinbase and gmail use it.

For over a decade I blindly trusted my supposedly smart accountant with regard to financials and investing, until that fateful day in 2013 when he found out that I had heavily invested in Bitcoin. He told me that it was a complete scam, and that I should sell it all immediately.

Thank god I didn't listen to that fool. And then I promptly fired him, and went on with my life.

my financial guy said to unload at least a good chunk of corn when he found out. as it was extremely risky back then (years ago).. and that is his job. i expected nothing less when i told him.

if a financial guy (back then) did NOT say to dump most all or a large chunk of btc i would of fired them. as he would of been remiss.

so i actually dont get that attitude of firing him for doing his job..  its their duty to tell you what they recommend. you certainly dont have to follow it.

anyway its off topic in bobs off topic thread so ill leave it at that.

When I get some time I will post a photo of myself to show my rainbow glasses and my Hodl t-sweater along with a nuts cap a bandanna thanks to covid I can walk into a bank looking like that.

It is one of the few nice things about covid-19 you can say has happened.

THIS!

Definitely a blow to face recognition. Everyone should embrace any chance they get to fuck with the big brother/surveillance regimes.
