821  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites on: December 24, 2016, 12:28:04 AM
.onion addresses work somewhat similar to Bitcoin addresses in that they both use a public/private keypair. In order to host a particular .onion website, you will need the private key for that .onion address. Similar to Bitcoin addresses, it is unlikely that two people will generate the same .onion address based on the private key they create, and owners of .onion websites can use a "vanity generator" to create a "vanity" .onion address.
It is my understanding that the amount of resources it takes to generate a .onion address is similar to the amount of resources it takes to generate a Bitcoin address, however if you change the .onion address of your tor website, then you will need to tell anyone who wants to access your website your new .onion address (which creates security issues).
I understand that part. I was mainly concerning a previous post in this thread that reported the .onion addresses for sites owned by moriarty changed very often:
These onion sites change url monthly. They changed url dozens of times.
However, the onion site URL seems to have kept consistent from September to the time of your report, so I will add them to the OP. Thanks.
822  Other / Meta / Re: Mods Deleting Posts on: December 24, 2016, 12:06:36 AM
Well fortunately, I don't traffic in illegal goods. Basically, its my Optimum account, and I have the god given right to sell, loan out, whatever I feel like doing with its subscriptions. Its not for anybody to decide what could be illegal and what is not.
What usually happens is people hack accounts and sell them on for a low price (similar to yours). Not to accuse, however I can understand why mods may think this is what you are doing. State the source of the accounts you are selling and the mods may reconsider.

First and foremost, 1/2 of the advertisements in digital goods are illegal. How do I know? Same way that you do.
Agreed. I do think that it should be the same treatment for all (as it was a number of months ago). Not sure why the mods stopped deleting threads like that.

But without those ppl advertising bullshit on here, they would be no 1.0+btc advertising bids every month. Nobody is gonna pay almost 1k USD, to advertise where nobody is. Makes sense no? Retaliation without a cause is pointless, it only ends up with shit like this. Don't want to see threads like mine? Don't come to bitcointalk.org, becuase 50% or higher is illegal goods.
Bitcointalk is made up of more than just the Digital Goods section. Advertisers don't just pay to advertise there, and they would likely still advertise should that section not exist. Bitcointalk isn't an enterprise built on top of illegal goods, the latter is just an unfortunate consequence that should be dealt with.
823  Other / Meta / Re: My username has been hijacked on: December 23, 2016, 08:05:54 PM
But do you have the bitcoin address that you sent btc from to buy the card? That's what's needed as you can see from this post right here:
I was a user from 2011, I dont have my bitcoin wallet (Since they had like 0 BTC).

IIRC accounts have been recovered without the original owner signing a Bitcoin address in the past. However, due to it being a strange case I would not expect to get your account back soon (if at all).
824  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites on: December 23, 2016, 07:46:50 PM
Apologies.

anyone confirm that bitmanusa.com is a scam?
Looks like it.After checking out the site thoroughly,I figured out the site is poorly designed for running a hardware selling business. And the suspicious part, only one address is staked with a pub key to send money to
...
Possibly run by an individual and not the team as displayed on the site.If I was you,I'd dare not to send any bitcoins to that address.
Has this site scammed anything from anyone? I don't know about adding something to this list without them actually stealing something.

You should add Genesis-Mining.com

It is a confirmed scam / fraud (check my thread if you are unsure we have plenty of testimonies) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1185909.msg12482453#msg12482453
I support this member. Genesis Mining should definitely be on the list to remove doubt to people who are new to bitcoin mining. Many websites still  promote it as a legit company, but a few websites have exposed it as an unethical company, e.g.
1.  https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@wisdomx44/scam-alert-do-not-invest-in-genesis-mining
2.  http://kipicommunity.org/genesis-mining-review-is-it-profitable-to-mine-with-genesis-mining/
I was considering not adding this simply due to it being the customer's duty to be sure that their investments are profitable, however since it seems to be more a case of false advertising and there are multiple references I will add it. Thanks.

Bitport.net Is A Scam Web Site...
Added to the list. Thanks again.

Scam exchange  site   coinmango.com
Please provide some reference/source for your accusation, preferably in the form of a thread in Scam Accusations and I will consider adding it to the list.

Bitgold is still in pending list , even though you added it to the official one. I recommend adding "Goldmoney.com" too, as It's the new name of "Bitgold.com" . If people googles first , chances that they will search using the new name are higher so It's better to add both names.
Fixed and added. Thank you.

Please add the following scam sites to this list:

Torwallet.com - onion link: 3hinuo4cve4pdysb.onion
bitcointumble.com - onion link: d5zy5343sr4gonmu.onion
BitcoinCloudMiner.net

reference and explanation for all of the above links

Thank you!
Torwallet is already on this list, however I have added the clearnet addresses of the other two sites to the list with the reference specified. I haven't added the .onion addresses as I was told previously that said addresses change often. Can you confirm this? Thanks.
825  Other / Meta / Re: Bug in linking images with bbcode? on: December 22, 2016, 08:07:54 PM
For whatever reason the forum seems to add on a padding of 4px to the left side when a URL is included on an image. However, it doesn't when the image doesn't have a URL surrounding it. All that you have to do is add a small 4x4px buffer onto the line of images that don't have a URL tag included, like so:

[img]http://i.imgur.com/8Z8Qqaj.png[/img][img]http://i.imgur.com/dIM1r50.png[/img]
[url=https://bitcointalk.org][img]http://i.imgur.com/jOQ0qju.png[/img][/url]
[img]http://i.imgur.com/8Z8Qqaj.png[/img][img]http://i.imgur.com/dIM1r50.png[/img]

It looks strange when previewing the post, however once actually posting the images realign and fix themselves.

827  Other / Meta / Re: Brand new users spamming advertisements of products don't even accept bitcoin on: December 22, 2016, 08:41:43 AM
Maybe adding a warning in between bitcointalk and the link (i.e. after clicking the link, instead of opening the site directly, it will display a warning message of something like 'You're going to an external website which is not moderated by the forum moderators. Never send bitcoins to sites unless you found it trusted. You'll be redirected in 10 seconds') would help? Some other sites I've seen is already using methods like that (like blockchain.info).
This has been brought up in the past and I'm not sure what the official answer was, but from what I can imagine that would be a large bandwidth strain for a forum that goes down regularly anyway. I agree that it should be implemented, but the forum should be able to handle its self in all situations before that happens.

I see this topic is started by 'Anonymous'. How was that possible?
Theymos used to delete accounts a long time ago on request. If an account was deleted, the author of all of their posts were chaned to Anonymous, if the posts weren't deleted.
The real OP of that topic is a person called Atlas I believe.

P.S. If the products they're spamming to sell do accept bitcoin, we'd kindly accept those posts as long as they're posted in appropriate boards, however they don't even have the word 'bitcoin' on the site...
I disagree. Spam is spam, regardless of whether or not the product being spammed accepts BTC. Posts like that should always be deleted.

Theymos has implemented the system which requires the user to pay a fee before using the forum on the tor nodes but it is impossible to do so on proxy IPs since they are harder to find.
It isn't just TOR nodes, it is any IP address that has previously been used by a banned account. However, due to the nature of proxies there are a lot more proxies than are being banned by the forum.

Personally, I think a decent solution to this problem would be two things. Bring back Newbie jail for a few posts, and disallow URLs to be used as thread titles. This would probably make it a lot harder for these sorts of bots to clog up the forum.

I'll take a ticket, if you don't mind.
829  Other / Meta / Re: [Marketplace] Inquiry about the forum rules on: December 19, 2016, 08:56:07 PM
None of bitmarket.io's threads appear to be bothering anyone
Absolutely not.

I don't think the Collectables section was created for you, and I don't think you understand it's purpose -- you can repeat it's written purpose, but you don't understand.
No, but several other collectors share the opinion that Lutpin has. The people who dislike these threads are completely aware of what the purpose of the Collectibles section is and use it properly for it's intended purpose. Whether or not you think Lutpin knows about the use of the Collectibles section has no relation to the point being made.

Okay please don't post any kind of empirical evidence or cite anyone other then yourself. Looking through his threads, I see few people annoyed, but more annoyed by the fact that he refuses to lower his price verses the fact that he has multiple open threads.
The majority of the evidence isn't posted publicly, but in a third party chat a lot of collectors are a part of. I'll let anyone that feels like it come forward without naming them, although there are several people that are not big fans of how these threads are being handled. If you want more citations than Lutpin, consider hybridsole (see above) and myself.

P.S - Am I the first person to be annoyed by the way you respond to posts like that? I was not making however many individual statements, I was making a general point summed together by several statements.
I reply in the same way and people have gotten annoyed at me for it in the past. It usually happens to those who have no good points, so simply attack the writing style of the person arguing with them. Don't worry, you're not special.

832  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: December 17, 2016, 01:53:36 AM
Sorry but that wasn't a "copy"
I just made it as "similiar" as possible, and if you see the script it's a different one, me my self only use PHP
see this (FaucetBox) https://builtwith.com/faucetbox.com
and this (foyoin.ga) https://builtwith.com/foyoin.ga
and sorry about thing that you said "funny" since the website it self didn't running
Of course it is a completely different website and not just a copy. It's not like picking the first block of code on your homepage and comparing it to FaucetBOX's has some massive similarities showing you definitely copy-pasted it.
The reports that you linked just show that you have configured your server differently. Please don't try to deceive people who don't know about websites into thinking this is anything but a scam to try and make you some money from pop ups.

Fuck off.
833  Other / Meta / Re: How do you upload a photo on bitcointalk.org???? on: December 15, 2016, 11:41:02 PM
Hey guys,
I have the same issue. Im trying to add an image between tags, but nothing happens. Can you check what is going on?
Read a little bit further up the page; I have answered this already.
This is because you are a Newbie member. You must be a Jr. Member (Achieved at 30 Activity) to post a picture in a thread.

In addition, you cannot embed the Imgur URLs as you are not linking to a picture. To get the picture URL right click on the picture its self and select 'Copy Image URL' or 'Copy Image Location'. Then put that URL between the two [img] tags.
In the example of your image, you would have the code [img]http://i.imgur.com/wfmgTNa.png[/img]. If you put that in your post and you had more than 30 activity, the image would display properly.
834  Economy / Reputation / Re: Question about trust on: December 14, 2016, 11:02:15 AM
Yes. As you can see on Shorena's trust page, he has recoeved several positive feedbacks for simply being a good member of the forum. Stuff like Made an excellent tutorial on creating and verifying bitcoin signatures. and A poster with integrity.

This feedback isn't given out too often however, and is only given to extremely outstanding members of the community.

Let's not bash him for paying the fee currently, shall we? It is said and done. I just hope OP has learned his lesson for next time; that ransoms shouldn't under any circumstances be paid.

Have you tried running the executable through the command line as mentioned here?
To do this, put the executable in your C drive. Then open a new Command Prompt window, make sure it is in the C drive (if not, you can navigate to it from folders by typing cd / or go to it from a different directory by typing C:) and type the command exactly as it is seen on that post. Be sure to wrap the RSA key given in quotes.

This will also only work with the original strand of CryptoLocker I believe. If you got infected with a different strand then I have no ideas.

I will also do my best to refine my language to reflect the intellectual ability of the forum's audience....
I couldn't care what you do on the forum, it's none of my business, but surely if your vocabulary matched your intelligence you could understand that using unnecessarily complex words severely restricts those who can understand your posts.
As a native speaker I'm still unsure if I fully understood what you were trying to say, I'm sure those with English as a second/third/etc language (which I expect is the majority of the forum) would severely struggle to understand or discuss your point of view. Isn't that the point of a forum?
Either way, this is off topic. Apologies.

Anything else?
You got any response to the part of my post that wasn't half of a sentence?
840  Other / Meta / Re: Q: Should Lauda *really* be a moderator of bitcointalk A: no on: December 10, 2016, 10:19:37 PM
By participating in the discussion, she is unduly influencing a decision that will affect her directly.
I fail to see the logic behind this. For starters, as proven by DeepSpace/Mitchell's statement, the topic would have been treated the same had Lauda not dealt with it. Secondly, I don't see how moving a topic will affect them at all. The topic was not removed from being seen, nor censored in any way. The difference being that it is categorized correctly, if anything making it easier for anyone interested to find the thread.

BTW the thread was complaining about the behavior of a staff member, and asking for that staff member to be removed from being staff, that sounds more like a thread for meta don't you think?
The thread was complaining about receiving negative trust from Lauda, for this reason it belongs in Reputation. This is the case regardless of who received or left the feedback. If the thread were about a problem with the trust system it's self, not a specific person on it, or complaining about Lauda's moderation (as this thread is, I suppose) then it would be more fitting in Meta.
