1321  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites on: January 18, 2016, 04:07:23 PM
Awesome, thread seems to have been stickied.
Thank you theymos!

Edited: How about adding this one mmmoffice.com
That is the ever popular ponzi of Sergey Mavrodi, they just cancelled all pending withdrawal's because they can't pay or assign to anyone who plan's to put money in.
I've added it to the OP with the MMM wikipedia article as the reference. If anyone has a better URL for the reference I can update it.

I've also removed bitcoinminerz.com from the Pending list since the domain is now parked and not active.
1322  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites on: January 17, 2016, 10:34:18 PM
It would be nicer of you would keep the list in alphabetically sorted order. Much easy to navigate. I think tomatocage had maintained the same order.
He had and I hadn't noticed since then. I've put the newly added sites in alphabetical order. Thanks.
1323  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ore-Mine.org - first time Bitcoin Ponzi destroyed by government on: January 17, 2016, 12:12:13 AM
interesting. But why? joke?
The ponzi likely collapsed and he needed a way to get out, it certainly wasn't taken by the US govenment though. He left all his details on the whois, which might not have been the smartest idea (if they are his real details).
1324  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Bitcoin Ponzi Shut Down on: January 16, 2016, 11:19:47 PM
The site wasn't taken down by the US government. This landing page is simply because the ponzi collapsed and the owner needed a way out.

As you can see here, the domain still has the whois information of someone from the Russian Federation. In addition to this, the nameservers are still pointed to ns1.nameself.com and ns2.nameself.com, two servers also hosted in Russia. If it were legit, why would the US government be holding the server in a Russian registrar's servers?
1325  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: January 16, 2016, 11:07:29 PM
Can someone please tell me how i can add banner between btc address and captcha and between captcha and claim in faucetinbox?
In your template's index.php file look for these snippets of code:

For between the address bar and captcha, look for this (line 158 in the default template):
Code:
<div class="form-group">
      <?php echo $data["captcha"]; ?>
Above that line is between the captcha and address bar.

For between the captcha and claim button, look for this (line 174 in the default template):
Code:
<div class="form-group">
      <div class="col-sm-offset-4 col-sm-4">
            <input type="submit" class="btn btn-primary btn-lg" value="Get reward!">
      </div>
</div>
Above that line is between the captcha and claim button.

It really should have a display message that says "this faucet is over the sending limit" or something similar BEFORE a user goes to the trouble of jumping through all the hoops of anti-bot links and captchas.  I've heard more than a few users be irate over this issue and what a waste of time it is on their part.
The problem with this comes in that this warning is sent as an error by the payment API, which is only requested once the form has been successfully posted. However, this could be fixed on FaucetBox's end by adding the error to the Balance API additionally; not requiring any new API to be created and implemented, simply just a small edit to the response handling when fetching the balance in the faucet script.
1326  Other / Meta / Re: Don't binary option sites belong in Gambling? on: January 16, 2016, 10:39:58 PM
While it is only very slightly, I believe that binary options still class as trading rather than gambling. Granted it is still a flip of a coin essentially, though with less randomness to it dictated by the trading price.
If this is the case, trading isn't gambling; it doesn't belong in the gambling subforum.
1327  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites on: January 16, 2016, 01:36:44 PM
Shouldn't we add Cryptsy ? I mean it's confirmed they are a total scam and the two billion thread out there can proof it .
Added to the list with a link to the thread about the bankruptcy. If people want any other threads linked then please post them.
1328  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites on: January 16, 2016, 01:07:33 PM
Added all suggestions to the thread and Quickseller's comment as a disclaimer. Thanks guys.
1329  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: January 14, 2016, 05:33:09 PM
Now that you mention it and I think of it: One could write the timestamp to a session variable when the user visits the landing page and check the seconds between that timestamp and the time the claim is being "processed". There's no way to cheat on that.
I actually suggested that previously with a small example of code to show what I'm talking about. Is this similar to what you mean?

exactly isn't antibot links js? I've not used it but I have my own antibot links which are JS as well as a maths question also JS and yeah they skip right past them. So couldn't you return a checkbox in send() function which must be clicked first to send? Not JS.
Any HTML checkbox could also be automatically selected by just adding 'selected' into the tag. Anything that the user can see (Javascript, HTML etc) and is in plain text is very easy to manipulate if you make it obvious; you shouldn't rely on things like that to stop bots. You should use PHP (or another server side language) verification which the user cannot see or edit to stop bots.

Also, to follow on from what BitBustah said:
A scammer could easily read that "anticheckbox" variable and send it by default. It would be better if you used sessions and create a variable name for the input variable. Then the code would always be different.
You should also add several checkboxes into your page with other variable names, else they could just check the first checkbox they see and get it right.
1330  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: January 14, 2016, 12:59:39 PM
Thank you, unfortunately it didn't I, an error left me something like invalid parameters
That's strange. Would you mind giving me the full error you are given, as well as what this function returns - var_dump($rewards);

I suspect there is some javascript you can put into the url to bypass validation? Any help?
It probably depends on how your faucet is coded, but no javascript should be able to get around a captcha AFAIK.
1331  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: January 13, 2016, 10:38:04 PM
Thank you very much, and for example for that reward is see on the web? I mean that if someone comes from a country you see the reward that will win
Oops, I forgot about that. In order to have it display them properly you would need to move some things around, but it still isn't that difficult.

So, at line 2218 on your index.php we're going to get the user's country and such. Put this code there:
Code:
//This code determines the reward
$countryCode = json_decode(file_get_contents('http://freegeoip.net/json/' . getIP()))->country_code;

$rewardMultiplier = 1;

if($countryCode == 'GB'){
$rewardMultiplier = 1.1;
}
Rather than times everything individually, we're going to create a multiplier variable to times everything by.
Also, I noticed that I used 0.1 rather than 1.1 in my previous example. This would give 10% of the expected reward rather than 110%, so unless you want to decrease the reward the multiplier should always be greater than 1.

After this, at line 2232 (before if(count($rewards) > 1) {) add this code:
Code:
foreach($rewards as $rW){
$rW *= $rewardMultiplier;
$newRewards[] = $rW;
}
$rewards = $newRewards;
If I am right this will get every reward from the array and times it by the multiplier (therefore 1.1 (110%) if the user is in GB). I would appreciate if someone else could check this first before anyone puts it into any live code though, since I am prone to making mistakes when coding directly into BitcoinTalk.

After this, be sure to revert the changes at line 2310 to this:
Code:
} else {
$ret = $fb->send($address, $reward);
}
Else the user will get the amount multiplied by more than you want, costing you money.

My apologies for not getting the code right the first time, I hope it didn't cause you any issues.

So, changing the $display_errors to true didn't return anything (as far as I can tell) and have the dbhost literally as "localhost" as shown below. Still getting the error.

snip
Are you adding your cPanel name to the beginning of your user and name as described here? It should look like this:

$dbhost = "localhost";
$dbuser = "cPanelName_Nick";
$dbpass = "Password";
$dbname = "cPanelName_DogeFaucet";

1332  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: January 13, 2016, 10:04:56 PM
OK so can anyone help me out? I'm trying to set-up a faucet using a database from my hosting provider (bluehost.com) and when I set everything up it tells me that it "Can't connect to database. Check your config.php.". I've set up a faucet from my free hosting (hostinger.co.uk) and have gotten it to work. Anyone know what's different about bluehost?
It's likely the sql server you are pointing it to; different hosts have you point it to different places. I believe that Hostinger has you point it to mysql.hostinger.co.uk or something similar, where as BlueHost would want you to point it to 'localhost'.
If not, try setting $display_errors to true in your config.php and seeing if anything is returned.

1334  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [EDU] Bitcoin-related Scam Websites on: January 13, 2016, 08:04:40 PM
I couldn't agree more , It's an important list and should be always updated so it should be made by someone who is active on the forums .
Once you make your thread please post the link here .
I have remade the thread and posted it here. If people can report sites to there I would appreciate it.
1335  Economy / Scam Accusations / [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites on: January 13, 2016, 08:03:07 PM
This thread has been retired. You can see the new thread by OmegaStarScream here.

Notice:
I have removed any obvious ponzi sites (E.G "Double your bitcoins in 2 days") from the list and they will not be added; everyone should already know to avoid these and adding them will only unnecessarily inflate this list. Faucets will also not be added to this list.

When reporting, please be sure not to include http:// in the URL, simply [domain].[ext].
When you suggest adding a site to the OP, you shouldn't use "http://" as this will create a backlink and will improve the sites rankings on google (and other search engines).
In addition, when reporting please include some type of reference. I am not going to add a site to this list just because you tell me to.

I think that a new thread should be made by someone more active. The last time this was edited was September last year.
I'd be willing to make one if needed.
1337  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: January 13, 2016, 07:15:20 PM
Would it be friend as well?

Code:
snip
If it were there then it would send the coins before changing the reward making it useless. Place the $ret = $fb->send($address, $reward); below everything else, like so:
Code:
} else {
//This code determines the reward
$countryCode = json_decode(file_get_contents('http://freegeoip.net/json/' . getIP()))->country_code;
if($countryCode == 'GB'){
$reward *= 0.1;
}

//This code sends the reward
$ret = $fb->send($address, $reward);
}
1338  Other / New forum software / Re: New forum? on: January 13, 2016, 07:12:21 PM
Of course he had no right to "use it for whatever he wanted to" since he raised the money promising it would be used for a specific purpose.
And this purpose is? All that is said on the Donation page is that "all profit is reinvested into the forum and the community". By having a new forum made, he's fulfilling that.

Even if he was 100% honest and did not use the funds for any personal enrichment
What personal enrichment does theymos get out of paying for new forum software to be made?

I also like that you removed the part about the theymos shill. At least you realized you were being an idiot there.
1339  Other / Meta / Re: base64 images on: January 13, 2016, 03:18:05 PM
There are better ways to solve the problem than getting the forum to host the image for you via a hack. How about tor hidden services? Magnet links?
I think the problem with both of those is that they would put more strain on the server than base64 would as they would require other software to work.
Using a tor hidden service would require some sort of mirror from darknet to clearnet (which is also unreliable; the majority of tor2web mirrors currently only work on certain browsers) and using a magnet link would require a torrent client to be not only getting the images available to view but seeding them to be sure that they do not die.
1340  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: FaucetBOX.com Discussion on: January 13, 2016, 03:10:32 PM
Kazuldur How to set different rewards for different countries?
That requires a bit of extra modification to the FaucetBox file, but it isn't difficult. Personally I think the easiest way to do it would be by using a geoip API, however this may be inaccurate. The API that I'll be using in this example is freegeoip. This API has a limit of 10,000 requests per hour, so I can't imagine it would reach the cap for a faucet. Code is untested as always.

On line 2309 in index.php add this code to get the country code, since it's easier to use:
Code:
$countryCode = json_decode(file_get_contents('http://freegeoip.net/json/' . getIP()))->country_code;
This will return the user's country code in ISO form, for example GB for United Kingdom.

You can then just check the country code before sending the reward and adjust the amount, for example:
Code:
if($countryCode == 'GB'){
     $reward *= 0.1;
}
This code would increase the amount given to any user in the United Kingdom by 10% (or the multiplier of 0.1). You could obviously go into detail a lot with this, but I'm not going to because the rest is self explanatory.

Another way that this could be done would be by using the geoip_country_by_name in PHP's geoip framework, however this framework may not be available to the majority of hosting users due to it having to usually be installed separately to PHP.

If you're using this though, you could probably just replace the first line of code with:
Code:
$countryCode = geoip_get_country_by_name($hostnames->hostnames);
And it would likely return the same result.

Lol... So you would give people less or more satoshi based on the country they live in? What does the "cost of living" have to do with anything? I'm not seeing it.
I believe that some faucets use it to adjust rates due to advertising income. For countries such as Russia and Ukraine which bring in less money they get smaller rewards than countries like the US and UK which bring in more advertising revenue.

We know that life is more expensive in some countries than in others, how is it possible that you have not yet implemented this in the script?
Since it requires an external API to be used, or more server usage on a service like NastyHosts, and I can't imagine it would be too easy to make a UI which would work well for a faucet owner to change countries' rewards. That and it could probably be abused by users using VPNs and Proxies to get larger rewards.
