801  Other / Meta / Re: I hate this forum on: January 03, 2017, 04:19:06 PM
Based from my experience, this forum and reddit are the best place to talk about bitcoin even though there are some spammer.

snip
The majority of that paragraph applies to Bitcointalk too (I have no idea about the Reddit; I don't go there frequently).

In other forum, people freely can share scam/ponzi investment, they don't care if other users lost money because him/her
Similar to here. Bitcointalk has a board specifically for posting scam ponzi websites.

They also don't care about bitcoin future at all as long as they can earn money from it.
This likely applies to a large portion of the signature spammers here. They clearly show disregard for the forum its self, so it wouldn't surprise me if they felt the same way about Bitcoin.

Furthermore, moderators in bitcointalk.org is one of the moderators that i've seen in long time.
Did you miss out an adjective here? Best? Worst?

In other bitcoin forum, most moderators don't care even if their users scamming, fighting or manipulate each other.
This is the same here. Providing you don't make too much of a mess the mods don't involve themselves if a user is scamming or if a dispute is going on (bar personal reasons).
802  Other / Meta / Re: Account Recently Compromised on: January 02, 2017, 10:15:05 PM
This sounds like it was due to the hack that happened here. In May 2015 the forum's database was leaked which gave away your email and password hash. This leak has seemingly become more public now, so I expect that your account was targeted due to it's high rank and lack of recent activity.
If you had the same password for the rest of your accounts it would explain why those got hacked, even if the emails/usernames were different. I would suggest that you make sure all of the passwords to services you care about are different (perhaps using a password manager to help) to prevent something like this happening again.

My address was never staked in the official thread but I've posted it numerous times throughout the year, should I sign a message and publish it somewhere so it is known the account is still safe?
Provided you can show an unedited/quoted post containing the address in the event of something like this happening in the future and sign a message from said address it does not matter where you post it. However, I would suggest that you post it in the official thread regardless for archival purposes (if nothing else).
803  Other / Meta / Re: Can you please add arabic local Section on: January 02, 2017, 04:19:55 PM
I recommend to Arabic people to create only one topic in order to have a big number of participation and to have a chance to obtain an Arabic board
This exists, you can see it here.

I dont think this is a good idea. The terrorists might start to conduct business on the site wich can and will cause problems to the rest of us when the feds want to take the site down.

If this was a vote id vote no.
That's a rather stupid reason to go against an Arabic sub forum. There is nothing stopping anyone from talking about possible terrorist activities in any language, so by that logic this forum shouldn't exist. Right?

I would like to support the idea, there are more than 500 millions Arabic speakers around the world, those are 6.6% of the whole world population, I believe that adding Arabic section can bring more users to this forum
It has to be the other way around. There must be a large Arabic community on the forum posting in their designated thread before a sub forum is made for them.
804  Other / Meta / Re: [Interest Check] - Analyzing modlog for permabans on: December 31, 2016, 04:50:22 PM
I truly cannot understand your extreme aversion to making things easier for people that want to try and help the forum. From what I've seen your entire argument against the 'Banned' rank is that you don't like the people that would take notice of it, which seems pretty silly to me. If there is more to it, feel free to correct me - I may have missed some parts of what you said.

People have written scripts on their own without any reward just to obtain some statistics from the site. Just like other people are busy searching alt accounts, copy-pasters and their likes for free. Some guy is even running a site estimating how much a Bitcointalk account is worth in bitcoins (I guess you have already evaluated yours). So yes, I do think that if theymos said that he would be glad to see some tool developed based on the modlog for the purpose mentioned, there would soon be enough tools for doing just that...
No doubt. There are problems with this however.
For starters, the biggest problem is that it would not have legacy statistics. While the information collected by a script may be useful later down the line, currently it wouldn't help anything much. All information about every ban given is stored and is at theymos' disposal AFAIK. It would be better to have something official for this reason alone.
This is also making the lives of people that want to use a tool like this more difficult, though no doubt that is your intention. To have to make and maintain a script for general use which would provide incomplete information at best is certainly not as helpful as it being already built into the forum.

(I guess you have already evaluated yours).

Furthermore, this estimator excludes specialty accounts such as Staff, Default Trust, and Satoshi.
Doubt it, not that this is relevant whatsoever.

I didn't say that I hate them because I don't.
I don't very much like this kind of people
Yeah! He didn't say he hated them, just that he didn't like them!

I just prefer to stay away from such people in real life, that's all
This isn't real life. If you don't like people that do this, the forum has a built in 'Ignore' function that is very handy.
Shame that this function was added at the forum's inception though, people should have had to develop external scripts to hide posters that they don't like!

I don't think theymos wants the forum to become too much of a police state. The forum is probably in more of a police state now then it ideally should be.
It's arguable if it's necessary. I doubt the forum is currently serving it's initial purpose to most users, therefore behaviors have to change along with it.
805  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ignore list of gaudy paid signature users (3700+ users) on: December 31, 2016, 04:15:00 PM
Hello gadman have you ever tried this solution
Your> "Profile, "Look and Layout Preferences" >>> "Don't show users' signatures."
Don't confuse people here with common sense.. the OP's left eye is twitching by now i bet.
Guess what ?
You are on his ignore list now  Cheesy
That's not the idea behind these ignore lists. Granted, part of the problem may be solved by removing the signatures themselves however the huge amounts of spam and shit posting that comes along with it is still there, even with signatures turned off.

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting some bitcoin while you are posting here as long as it doesn't turn into a mindless spam, then I can understand,
The problem is that a large number of people posting with paid signatures produce nothing but mindless spam.

but if someone is in signature campaign and would be posting here either way regardless of signature campaigns, then he might actually be a decent user here and would not spam.
OP has shown in his first reply to this thread that he isn't interested in unblocking anyone with a paid signature as they are endorsing the root of the problem. While I do not agree with him at all, and I believe he is severely missing out by blocking people such as staff members and high quality posters, I can understand his stance.
806  Other / Meta / Re: who thinks bitcointalk need some upgrades? on: December 31, 2016, 01:19:34 AM
bitcointalk is about 8 years now,who thinks its need some updates
Bitcointalk has an upgrade in the works coming SOON™. The sub-board called New Forum Software is used to cover this.

updates like mention some one with @
If you have something to suggest you can make a thread in the sub-board I linked above. Please check to see if it has been already suggested before posting though.

or posting without this 50 second after jr tag,if any one appreciate my idea write below
That's intentional to try and prevent spam. Obviously, with users such as yourself, it isn't working very effectively.
You shouldn't even be hitting that limit; to make a post that requires some sort of thought and effort takes much longer than 50 seconds. However, this is not to be discussed here.
807  Other / Meta / Re: Dear signature spammers... (or account farmers.) -- Read the STATS inside. on: December 31, 2016, 12:58:10 AM
That's news to me. Who owns more then 10 accounts, is there a thread I can read to catch up on that?
There are threads such as this one where other users attempt to link accounts through blockchain and other evidence*. If you look at the first few posts you can see multiple users with several accounts each.

*None of it is hard proof, however it is fairly likely it is correct.

809  Other / Meta / Re: I have a question on: December 28, 2016, 01:54:17 AM
Comment after you get the whole story.
We have the whole story, it doesn't change anything.

Then ,what are you here for ? not for money?
Not everyone is on this forum for monetary gain. Bitcointalk is supposed to be a hub for Bitcoin related discussion, not a GPT site.

What is the "past actions"  in your dictionary that makes you a lifetime enemy of girlbtc and beat him whenever he shows up?
Let me make a list:
  • Spamming prior to his ban,
  • Ignoring several warnings by Staff as to what he was doing wrong,
  • Death threats,
  • Ban evasion,
  • Spamming after his ban.
There are probably more that I'm forgetting.

Spammers and all around scumbags like girlbtc are not welcome on this forum. This, by extension, involves you too.

It should be a vote of all members in this forum
Most members of the forum don't care, plus (as your employer has so nicely shown) what would stop several of your alt accounts from doing something that only benefits yourselves?

not you to say "no" as a president.
Lutpin is no where near a 'president'; he isn't even part of the staff team. He does however understand the rules of the forum, something that you and your employer do not. If you understand the rules of the forum (which isn't difficult) then you are likely to know the staff's decisions on matters before they post.
810  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] Steam Winter Sale Trading Cards (Get paid for a free task) on: December 26, 2016, 10:39:59 PM
Are you going to keep buying until the cards expire?
Yeah, I am. Until the 2nd January.
811  Other / Meta / Re: Requesting DT members to have a clear stance on buying & selling accounts on: December 26, 2016, 08:13:59 PM
Lauda You are abusing the trust system.
How so? The trust system is used to show who you trust/distrust and give your reasons as to why. This is what Lauda is doing.

But take a look at you. You promots shady things. You abuse trust system and more.
These shady things being?

I think other staff members needs to step up and stop it or other ppl think its okey to abuse systems. Its simple as that.
Staff need to start limiting and censoring feedbacks that they deem as 'abuse'? What a flawless plan for an open, free forum.

If we want to have a nice forum and clean from spam and scammers it have to start from the top!
Indeed. Let's start with getting rid of the spam and scams; the top.
812  Other / Meta / Re: Girlbtc.com spamming the forum on: December 26, 2016, 06:03:29 PM
Is everyone sure that it is the owner only whose behind all this spamming.? Coz sometimes it's like let's kill this site's reputation or kill it before it gets opened.  Undecided
Girlbtc (a chinese user) got banned a little while ago and announced their new forum. Ever since accounts with similar english skills using chinese characters have been complaining about this forum and promoting girlbtc's.

It would be a big surprise to me at least if it wasn't them.
813  Economy / Auctions / Re: 24 Hours Sell : Bitz Free Bitcoin Cloud Mining website on: December 26, 2016, 05:25:46 PM
Is this a scam or not if so then some one need to close thiusd thread to stop members from being scamed and maybe cloise the account of the member of the thread  to save members being scamed by user
The thread will only be locked if the OP decides to. As said earlier in the thread, moderators don't remove or intervene with trades even if they are scams.

Anyone can tell this is a scam if they bother to read the thread, if not it's their own fault. My advice would be to stop replying to this thread and let it just get buried by new auctions.
814  Other / Meta / Re: TO THEYMOS :Why ? on: December 26, 2016, 04:53:18 PM
KNCMiner does not post any coherent content, only random words and a KNCMiner link.
This wasn't always the case. At the beginnings of his spam what he was posting made perfect sense. I expect that this changed to try and avoid automatic spam detectors.

The GirlBTC links were attached to threads/posts with content that is reasonably allowable within the rules of the forum, and garnered actual replies from users attempting to discuss said content. The very first thread in Bitcoin Discussion also has a coherent post/topic that can be discussed, a link at the bottom to a competing forum, but has 4 pages of replies instead of the creator of said thread getting banned and thread  removed; what is the difference between the GirlBTC posts and this post?
The post you linked is a different situation completely to the girlbtc spam. For starters, the link on the referenced post is a news article that is used to source the information on the post. The girlbtc links are not news  articles and are not used to source informaton. They are simply a copy-paste of the post here with no further information (AFAIK). This is nothing but blatant advertising, which is against the rules.

I'm sure I don't need to explain why a post just saying "this forum is shit, join girlbtc.com" is against the rules.

Are you saying that GirlBTC links are not allowed regardless of the content in the attached posts/threads?
I doubt that's the case. If there is a reason that isn't blatant advertising I expect an exception can be made. This isn't the case, and considering that girlbtc doesn't have the brain capacity or english skills to understand what spam is I doubt it ever won't be.

Are you the one who made this rule? If not whose decision was it to implement this rule?
It's common sense. If you put your personal vendetta to one side it is simple to see.
815  Other / Meta / Re: Requesting DT members to have a clear stance on buying & selling accounts on: December 26, 2016, 04:22:21 PM
Really? I can not request to remove -ve trust? Could u please show me a rule for the same? I have always done account trading publicly on this forum with help of escrows on DT 1. I have no reason to discuss things with u privately.
What Lauda means is that there is no one that you can officially appeal to in order to get a feedback removed. If you want it to be removed, you must contact the person that included the user in their trust list (E.G Blazed included Lauda and can therefore exclude them) or contact the person that left you the feedback specifically (AKA contacting them privately).

While you are completely allowed to make threads such as this one, it probably wouldn't do much that contacting the user specifically wouldn't.

I hope, u re-consider your action within December 31, 2016. Else, I'll be forced to escalate. Thank You.
I wouldn't hold your breath. If I know Lauda I know how stubborn they are on their decisions. I can't imagine that your escalation would be anything other than a waste of time either.
816  Other / Meta / Re: TO THEYMOS :Why ? on: December 25, 2016, 02:40:41 PM
Disliking Bitcointalk? Promoting girlbtc? Using Chinese characters?
Gee, I wonder who you could be.

Your post was deleted because it is useless shit only used to promote your poor excuse of a forum. Please, follow the rules of your ban and stay away.

Merry christmas everyone!

Apologies for not showing the entire tree, was rather difficult to make the coins visible from further away.
819  Other / Meta / Re: Why Locking Thread on: December 24, 2016, 02:47:41 AM
It's likely that the OP locked it themselves since they cannot seem to handle any negative comments about themselves.

Do you find it threatening this site??
Doubt it. No one cares about their forum; it will probably die out as fast as the rest of their site did.
820  Other / Meta / Re: Mods Deleting Posts on: December 24, 2016, 12:49:56 AM
Vietnam, Thailand, and a high probability of more, just the ones on top of the head, all of which bitcoin is illegal.
Bitcoin is illegal in neither of those countries, just unregulated.
Hacking into and selling accounts is illegal no matter where you go. It is very easy to assume that a thread such as your own falls into this category due to it looking extremely similar. This is why your thread was deleted. I do not understand why you are having such a hard time understanding this.

I know the game, know how its played. Most aged people do. That comes with time. Your arguement is null and void. I feel like a member of BLM, and I'm not even black. Hypocracy, its how the world is. And yes I know, my spelling isn't that great.
What on earth are you going on about? This isn't relevant to anything you are arguing about.
