841  Economy / Economics / Re: Shell, BP Among Energy Giants to Back Blockchain Trading Platform on: November 07, 2017, 10:29:35 AM
Several major energy firms are partnering on a new blockchain-based trading platform. BP, Shell and Statoil are backing the platform, which represents the latest application of the tech to the energy space. The consortium of firms built around the platform also includes ING, ABN Amro and Societe Generale, as well as trading firms, Gunvor, Koch Supply & Trading, and Mercuria.
The idea is that the blockchain-powered platform for energy trading will eventually be open to all market participants. Those involved in the effort say it will controlled by an independent entity, with a plan to be fully operational before the end of 2018.

Any sources for this? I know ING but I haven't heard anything from them on this matter.

Lijkt me veel gedoe.

843  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is a bubble? on: November 06, 2017, 02:25:20 PM
Well you can't go high unless you go low. Bitcoin already crashed a couple of times (a stock loses 20% or more of its value within a short period of time). Expect a dip, it can't just bull run forever without going trough a bearish period. To say it will actually crash to the point that its worth almost nothing like at its initial start, don't really see that happening.. but who knows? History repeats itself often enough, don't see why it would not again. Its worth the ride anyway, if you're someone who's investing/gambling their entire savings or pension fund then you should really know better.

Grin

846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VERGE XVG Investor Friendly Videos + Discussions Welcome! on: November 06, 2017, 01:34:31 PM
So where do you see the price of Verge going?
Try to include videos in this XVG thread, okay? This one targets $5.50 -- excellent long-term charts. Cool

https://youtu.be/kLZXrBqsYWY

Okay you've proven my suspicions; everyone holding verge is deluded. I avoided this coin but now I won't even bother looking at it anymore.

The chart looking like its about to retrace

What does that mean? retrace?

849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BELUGA PAY token sale on: November 05, 2017, 11:22:40 PM
Just for the hardcap I'd stay away, about 95-103 cents per token with a max supply (don't even know if thats just pre-sale) of 100 million. So they're basically raising a 100 million dollar minimum, thats insane for something that has nothing to show for. If ICO's ask for more as 10 million you should SERIOUSLY question whether it is still worth it cause chances are very likely this money won't be put to work. Team members taking high salaries or plain incapability of handling such large amounts.

100 million or more as that is just being greedy I don't care how big you want to market it or how ''expensive'' your devs are. You're basically giving a startup a 100 million dollar evaluation which is insane. Just monkeys & banana's.

You go to a private investors and ask for that money, they will laugh at you in your face. Why would anyone put such capital into a startup that is more likely to go bust then to become a global player.
850  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Altcoin Subforum in tweeën delen? on: November 05, 2017, 10:58:48 PM
851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: vertcoin prices to reach 50 DOLLARS on: November 05, 2017, 10:56:36 PM
no way.. it is under $3,75 right now, it is insane just to think that it will pump to fifty dollars in just a few months, not even in years.. this is one of the most biggest pump and dump coin, and everybody can see it just at taking a look over their charts, it is not difficult to know that..
i would not put a dollar in this project, it is very risky to invest in this one only to hope to see it going up to $50 to be a "millionaire"...
better to get a real job.

At the first pump of litecoin it went down from 40 to 3 where it stayed for quite some time after a while it started a steady climb to fifty. You're in the cryptomarket everything is risky.
852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: vertcoin prices to reach 50 DOLLARS on: November 05, 2017, 10:54:28 PM
I feel a hard price-hike coming up. What do you guys think?

I call BS!  Grin

Maybe $10 but definitely not going to be $50. That would put VTC's valuation above quality projects such as XMR, OMG, ZEC, and NEO. It's just not realistic to anticipate 12x gains in such short periods of time in my opinion.

pump & dump coin for me.
i was so disapointed with it in october with huge speculation on it

Exactly. This coin was pumped because of hype. Not because how good a coin it is.

It does actually have a solid dev team and specs. Don't see why this shouldn't take a similar position to Litecoin? I think every coin has been called PnD, scam, ponzi at some point in its life cycle. I think VTC has serious potential of becoming a top 15 coin.
853  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $90,000 to invest in crypto for million dollars on: November 05, 2017, 12:18:37 AM
hey guys im new with cryptocurrency market. i trade stocks. i want to invest in one small coin and chose SHIFT. do you think it can make me a millionaire or not? thanks

If you trade stocks you probably have more experience than most people here and I honestly don't know why you would ask a forum if a coin can make you a millionaire, if people knew what coin can make you a millionaire then this game is over. Why don't you just go with BTC? Why throw such amounts in altcoins, most that are still heavily in development and are highly experimental. BTC is quite a proven concept by now and has shown it can withstand all the FUD and government/institutional interference. BTC reaching 50k (a good 7-8x from this price) would make you insane returns that I bet you can't get on that stock market. There's a general culture these days of making money the fastest and most low effort way possible, from the common jack to twitter investors who want multi billion dollar dividends payed out to them. I honestly think you should play it ''safe'' with that kind of money and hope for an early retirement. Or if you really can afford it go spread out your money, make boxes with X amounts to invest:

1. ICO box
2. BTC box
3. Altcoin box

854  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Too late to be millionaire with Btc.Which coin in 2 years will make us 1 million on: November 05, 2017, 12:08:34 AM
For the average person the million dollar train has left the station. A lot of money can still be made with Btc, but only if you are willing to invest an substantial amount.
Should the bitcoin rate reach $100k, you would need to invest about 60k today in order to turn it into a million should the bitcoin rate reach 100k.
The average person probably  does not have this kind of money to invest, so becoming a millionaire with Btc is out of the question.

So the question must be: Are there any other coins for the average guy (with around $500 to $1000 to invest) to become a millionaire within a two year time span?

I start here with the coin I consider a potential candidate:

VERGE (XVG) Right now the price is around $0.006 per coin, so an initial investment of $100 would turn into a million should the coin reach $60.

How irrational can you get? $60x15,000,000,000= 900bln market cap, you're retarded (excuse my language) if you think this is a plausible scenario.
I think you should try to learn more about economics, investing, stocks and crypto+blockchain and then start making decisions. Verge not only has a community that wants nothing else but to see their coin get pumped, the reason so many people stick with it is because its a privacy coin and they got pumped a lot. As soon as this reaches 1-2 cents people are out and mass dumpings happen. I can suggest bunnycoin to you its trading at 0.000002 usd so if you throw in a 1000$ and it goes to $40 you will have 200bln dollars now if that doesn't work for you I don't know what will.

You're far more likely to lose your entire investment than that you are to become a millionaire by just picking random coins and expect them to have the same growth as BTC/ETH/NEO because they're trading low. If this was true then we'd all billionaires by now and had bought thise entire planet with its resources + mars for the fucks of it even though no one owns it and no one can sell it and have enough money left to provide our offspring and their offspring for generations to come untill this planet dies and is lost in oblivion. I honestly think you should beat some sense into your head before even thinking about investing in crypto and I'm being nice. People lose a lot of money in this market just like in stocks. Why don't you just invest some in BTC, see how that goes and get some knowledge about the market and then start looking at other potential coins, start small 50-100$ and if you grow more confident you can start putting in 500-1000 - 5000 or even more if you like.

856  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Altcoin Subforum in tweeën delen? on: November 04, 2017, 12:02:49 PM

Iedereen eens?
857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Old wallet found need genuine advice please on: November 03, 2017, 04:46:32 PM
Hi everyone

I realise I am new here, and forums rely on give and take but I have little technical know how. Being a forum regular in various other worlds like art and fashion I hope to appeal to the forum for some help.

I just realised I bought some bitcoin in 2014 and forgot about it

I am useless at this stuff but seems I may still be able to access them?

All i have is an email from blockchain.info with an attachment ( wallet.aes.json)and the followiing text

"Attached to this email is an AES encrypted wallet backup which contains everything you need to restore your bitcoin balance. You can use it to restore the wallet at anytime at My Wallet or using the 3rd party MultiBit Desktop client
your wallet identifier is XYZ1234"

is this enough of a start to track my coins down please?

I really am no good with this stuff so seek an honest forum regular to try and assist

thanks again

Ducky

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/19xzpt/how_can_i_use_the_blockchaininfo_walletaesjson/ maybe have a look a this.

But yeah should be enough, from my understanding you should download the Multibit Desktop client (wallet) and import the files into it. Not entirely sure how this goes as I don't use blockchain.info or Multibit and surely never used json files before. But don't panic, you should be fine.
858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Video Game altcoins on: November 03, 2017, 03:32:34 PM
How hard would it be to have a video game that generates an altcoin as part of the in-game currency? I personally want the fidget spinner app to be one. Or even Terraria. What does it take to incorporate blockchain technology to mean something computed at something as easy as a touch?

It can be done, check out huntercoin website (search huntercoin on coinmarketcap). Electroneum is also doing something similar as to what you describe.
859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Calm the F $%K Down People, Lets Help The NOOBs Out. on: November 03, 2017, 03:24:25 PM
Get your finger off the sell button.

Bitcoin is going parabolic (I said it would hit 10k mid Jan in Aug.... I still see that happening)

And thats the reason for the alts dropping. There is an influx of "new money" into Bitcoin, partially because of the fork, mainly because their are BIG institutional investors that are taking positions.

Since the announcement that BTC futures will be traded many people have taken that as a sign that reads "Bitcoin is real!" -Love Wallstreet

This is a double edged sword.

We are going to see 10k BTC within 90 days.   I also foresee 50k by years end.   You can't underestimate what the news of BTC futures means to the entire market.   I know for a fact that there will be some billion, dollar buys of BTC in the next 6 months.

Some of this will come from hedge funds some banks.

Also China WILL be back in the mix in late Feb.   They are currently in a political space that is slowing the prices down,  however ICO and more importantly, exchange regulation and legislation is on the table and going through the steps for inclusion/ adoption.

This all equates to FUD on BTC.  Please stop worrying. The longer you have been in this game the less we worry.

Bitcoins, alts, even stocks go through cycles.  Put 50% of your money into Bitcoin and find some good long term Alts and then sit on your hands.

Alts like ARK, OMG, WAVES, NEO, WTC.... They have great teams,  provide a solid roadmap and have real world applications that will fundamentally change things within the ecosystem.

This is the time to rejoice! It's time to buy at 10,20,60% off your favorite alt!

Stop stressing out,  and for Gods sake dont sell alts low to buy Bitcoin at ATH.

Repeat after me.

HoDL

Cheers
Wait. Are  from the future? because it seems you are very sure on the things on what you are talking on here but i do agree on some points but on the price predictions then those numbers isnt really realistic at all on a short period of time.Reaching out 10k will takes time how much more on 50k? It wont happen on next years but well no one really knows on what would happen ahead but yet we should always think or make some realistic predictions though. The hardest part as of now when we do see bitcoins price increase rally almost all of alts are already on red.

Note that in january this year btc was around 1k, its now 7k. With that same reasoning 50k isn't that far fetched for around the same time next year (7x7=49). Also he's right, there is a lot of institutional money coming, demand for bitcoin investing is also up quite a bit. Chase bank released a statement that they would start end this year possibly early next year due to high customer demand.

Want to get in on the best of the privacy coins that's only going to get better?
Look into SpectreCoin [xspec].
It was launched in late 2016, this is our current BtCT thread....updated from old one.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2103301.0

Isn't spectrocoin cloned tech? Don't really hear much positive news on spectrocoin. And for anyone who thinks its verge.. you're just shilling.
