861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: July 08, 2015, 09:50:06 PM
I suggest creating a new thread for the node bounty. I already started to stop looking here again, because there's only about node stuff i fu***** don't care about
Agreed. Getting a tad annoying but then again doesn't seem much else to talk about at the minute.

I would say just leave it as it is, it bumps the thread. Just realize that not everyone runs nodes or can help with it. (Besides, if someone has problems they are going to post wherever they want...)

Ummm.  No offense taken.  Glad to see you stop by.  I will inform you that most of my post in question were deleted by me last night even though someone else tried to talk me into leaving them up.  So I don't really know how you even saw any of my posts if you just came in here and were paid to do so.  I will be more than happy to go back through and look again and if I find more I will be happy to delete them.  Thanks for your input and for help with the banner.  That wa s cool thing to do.

Defaced gave me some coins, no strings attached. I had already been watching the thread and read it all from the start. Generally, serious investors read everything here and crypto websites don't matter that much, unless you get on the bigger ones and have some interesting news to report.

This doesn't look like a scam coin, and certainly China loves cute things like Sprouts, so why not? Defaced likes it, so that is also interesting to me.
863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PotCoin | GROW WITH US | BANKING FOR THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY | on: July 08, 2015, 07:46:25 PM
Will that shop offer 10% discount to people paying with POT only? Otherwise, frankly, it doesn't do anyone any good...

Edit: I see that the discount is only 5% AND, not just for POT but for BTC too. Which is, definitely, no good at all for POT supporters because, once again, takes us to square one: Why would I buy/hold POT when I can buy exactly the same shit with BTC, for the same price?

Potcoin would need to offer an extra discount, and assuming they get POSv done, people could also stake/grow their Potcoins, which they cannot do with Bitcoin.

I think there can be strains, or what MaryJ claims to be doing and such, as long as everything is honest. In that it is a limited coupon or whatever. There are actually people out there dumb enough to think they could get pennies in cryptos and exchange for kilos of pot.
864  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [VNL] Vanillacoin 0.3.1 | Hybrid TCP/UDP | ECDHE | O(1) | DarkPP/MinerPP/CoinPP on: July 08, 2015, 07:27:10 PM
New logo is live Cool

Well, not much change, i offered before to make (already done) a pro logo for such as good coin, but seems that nobody want to listen. And again Vanilla ended with amateur logo. Just my opinion, no offense

If it is already done why not post it, you could put a watermark or something if you are worried about the design being taken? I think the new one is better than the old, but it sort of reminds me of Viacoin, pretty close to the Viacoin logo.

(The tech is really the value here, but in the long run logos and branding is very important)

That infographic has some text misplaced on the lower right, I did a quick fix if you guys want it. Oh yes, a big thanks to Defaced for giving me a couple coins to check this one out.

Some quick advice for PR and such, the first thing you want to do is have that Crazycoins guy delete a bunch of his crazy posts, no offense. Everyone reads all these announcements already, and squabbling over trying to pay for PR, is bad PR. This is the main place people are going to look first, not some crypto website. Also, add the Suprnova pool to the announcement thread as well, that is important.

I sort of like Peercoin, so I will be watching this one to see how it goes. Good luck guys!

866  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PPC] Peercoin Official Thread on: July 06, 2015, 10:10:41 PM
Im getting 0 connections and I just downloaded the newest wallet from the website. Any addnodes?

Official site, I recommend using the Peerunity wallet.
867  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: July 06, 2015, 08:27:29 PM
I just feel its safer having it on my mac rather than online.  If nobody can offer a solution I might consider it but as I said, I would prefer a wallet on my mac.  Thanks for all your help.  Any other suggestions would be welcome.

As someone that also uses Macs, along with PCs, the online wallet is totally safe if you need it temporarily, as safe as your PC really, and if your PC is compromised any wallet is at risk. There are wallet upgrades coming, for Mac as well, and I have been testing the mac version. What I do know is that you need all your Java up to date to run full wallets, and you need to be on the latest OSX version.

For anyone interested I have mostly completed my new crypto website, there are several blogs about Horizon on it, and I added Horizon to the predictions section. (actually one of the three cryptos I have been buying more of very recently)

http://www.cryptocollectorsclub.com/predictions.html

Oh yes, I am testing some stuff for HZ on my mac right now by the way, looking good! Smiley

Please explain the logo to a simpleton like myself

I suppose it's an ice cream on a stick implying it has vanilla flavour. Actually until recently I thought that it was a white USB connector like the ones on Apple cables  Grin

When I first read about the design, I thought the branding fit really well with android operating system brands, and that if this is a coin that works exceptionally well on phones, that also fits. Ice-cream sandwich, Jelly Bean, Kit Kat, Vanillacoin.... sort of fit in. Could also be how it blends in and sort of does anon in a new way, or just a tasty flavor or old programming reference. Anything is possible I guess.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PotCoin | GROW WITH US | BANKING FOR THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY | on: July 02, 2015, 06:28:47 PM
Cool!  Thanks.

Just a quick question, saw you looking around at marijuana related coins and was just wondering what your opinion on the coins are.  My personal beliefs are that being pegged to something in the cannabis industry is not the way to go.

Those kind of things should be left to the market.  To me it would be hard to convince my good hash making friends to give away good hash for a certain marijuana coin let alone bitcoin.

And are any two grams of hash the same?  I mean a low grade hash has the same 1 coin value as a gram of super high quality hash?

Not bashing, I am really interested.  I just can't imagine how it could be feasible for growers to do this with a never decreasing supply of coins which will supposedly reach $35-$45 per coin and an higly increasing demand for product even for just cash?   I just don't think there are enough crypto/cannabis enthusiasts to push it to that level, only speculators and speculators generally just pump and dump.

let me know what you think dude.

I will be honest, some people are really stupid and the pegging thing does work for value increases (pump and dumps). Even after it is proven not to be what it is some will still believe it. Critical thinking and basic logic should be required courses, many people are in dire need of them.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: June 30, 2015, 10:53:08 AM
I know some here are annoyed by the bounty issues.
Some appease and say: Wait, you'll be fine.
Others refer to the bounty thread in the Horizon Forum (https://horizonplatform.io/topic/whats-up-with-hallmark-node-payouts/), but nobody cares about this.
Sorry guys, the node bounties are important and the basis of this coin distribution.
I expect, that one of the devs comments the problems and explains possible solutions.
Everybody knows, shit happens, but we must talk about it. I'm a software developer myself and I know what I'm talking about.

Why am I saying all this? In recent days, the bounties have been not or very irregularly paid.
The "Last Payout" date, given by the node checker, shows a payment around 0:20 UTC each day, for each node. But only a few nodes have received a payment. The online time is no longer comprehensible.

Here you can find a summary about the node payments of the last days. The information comes from the blockchain, but I can also provide more detailed information on transaction basis.

Date | Payment per Node | Node count | Number of Payments | Remark
2015-06-25 | 443.06602 | 2257 | 2256 | single payments
2015-06-26 | 0.0 | ? | 0 | no paymants
2015-06-27 | 539.66541 | 1853 | 367 | combined payments
2015-06-28 | 479.84645 | 2084 | 2083 | replayed payments
2015-06-29 | 591.71598 | 1690 | 391 | combined payments
2015-06-30 | 570.12543 | 1754 | 338 | combined payments

Devs, you are doing a good job! But sometimes you have to take some time for the annoying trappings.

EDIT: 2015-06-30 5:03 UTC: last values added
EDIT2: Seems, that all payments to accounts with more than 26 nodes are skipped

I know the bounty guy has been working on it, for certain, and hopefully everything is resolved soon if it hasn't been already. If there are problems we need to know, so don't worry about bringing them up. I make sure they hear as well and keep tabs on this thread, but I am quite certain they are on it and hopefully have it smoothed out soon for you. This is one of our unique features, but of course it also has unique challenges. Wink

B.E.E.f.A - quick start: ...
Block explorer extension for assets
Suggestion: Warnings about certain assets

In the past there have already been discussions about blacklisting assets - which I do not want to repeat here. Me personally, I am strongly opposed to any kind of censorship. "Caveat emptor (Buyer beware)" is a more grown up concept than the childish "Consumer protection by censorship and prohibition". A good option is whitelisting assets (see the HZ "trusted assets" page), but there are yet only 4, and I always thought ...

... "what about all the other 100+ HZ assets out there"?
That is why I built my extension asset.phtml. I would want it to always display all assets ... scam, test, or proper ... regardless. What is on the blockchain, gets reported!

But still -especially where without any doubts- I consider ADDITIONAL information is appropriate ... if a certain asset should rather not be bought. Good thinking?

So this is what I coded, to implement a first approximation of that idea:

asset warnings

Some assets are known to be test assets, or revoked (by the issuer), or even scams (perhaps, probably or proven scams).

However, the (too) centralized power of the only official block explorer ... needs a balance between user protection and issuer protection (and censorship is bad)!

So with my 'asset.phtml' ... all assets are still shown - but in some cases with a clear warning.

All is hardcoded into an XML file.
I urge the team to always link back to a forum post where detailed explanations are given, and can be discussed - so that e.g. the issuer gets a chance to react to the suspicion.

examples for the different warnings:

To be totally clear:
Almost all assets will show none of those warnings
- because they are intended to be, and run as proper assets.

What do you think about that suggested system?

P.S.:
This whole "warnings" function is coded now, but it can be easily switched off completely.
If you find it too much to worry about for now ... just go back to the "quick start" posting above now.

.

As you can imagine it gets tricky fast, I think that is why we went with trusted assets instead. It is easier to have a system to get people verified and with some level of trust and safety than trying to determine every asset, although even that isn't a guarantee, as individuals and various groups run assets and are ultimately responsible for their success or eventual failure. If people come out with their own lists and opinions to help though, I don't think that is bad? I would certainly like any additional information like that myself.
874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: June 26, 2015, 10:43:31 PM
Non-payment of all nodes. Failure ...

Delayed, but they are aware of it and resolving it. Long as you are updated you should be fine.
875  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: June 25, 2015, 11:13:07 PM
Hard forks are a big deal, I would rather wait a month and do it all at once, rather than do two of them in a month.

u mad u missed the boat?  Grin

the exact same same same reply from parasites like you Roll Eyes ... bright future you pieces of shit have   Kiss

only people who're upset are the ones who didn't ride the boat...I don't own any of this garbage but I don't really care if people made money off it..you can do nothing to stop them.

this lazy bullshit attitude is why this place has gone to shit..

op, don't get discouraged. If you have warned one person off then you have won. Goonies never say die.

Scams are bad for cryptos and Bitcoin itself. I could care less if I miss maybe profits in some scam coin, but I don't like the scams harming Bitcoin and Alts and burning new investors. I also think it is lazy to just say it will always happen, no, eventually we will have a shit ton of regulation to protect people since we can't self regulate and act like adults.
877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: MaryJanecoin the Digital Secured Currency Backed By Cannabis MARYJ on: June 25, 2015, 10:41:17 PM
thanks for all the support.

been busy getting things in motion sorry i havnt been on here in a bit

big things in store

very very very cheap price right now.

Nice stuff. But a usual roadmap is not a hard thing to do. It's being prolonged for too much.

I know the 10k price will come soon, and I mean really soon, with that small resistance we have in the market, but you have to be more specific. People will most surely buy if they have the right info on the coin.

Saying "Please buy, too cheap now, you don't know what you're missing, we are hitting 1mj=$1" is not enough.... The first post is still not updated, especially the Features and Plans part... Is it so hard to sum up the plans and make a refresh on that ? It has been a long time since you said the new things are coming but everything stayed the same. We only got a working wallet and some minor media linking (not to mention not posting any pictures or videos from that gathering you had couple of weeks ago), if I may call it like that.....

I think I am right with this one and I am not trying to sound rude or anything, don't think I am... Please back us up with some real data really soon... Thank you!

First of all, no one is asking you to buy coins. Adam and myself could not care less if you or anyone else buys in. Literally makes no difference to us.  We have plans for this coin, and are working really hard to make things happen. As previously stated, we're not planning on releasing any major developments until they have actually happened. We're not going to promise you the world, if you want to have promises made to you go check out other coins. We're also not interested in having people whine about things not happening fast enough. When you want to make your own coin, you can run it how you want. But we, both working full time apart from developing this, are running this how we see fit. We wish we could work full time on MaryJ, and someday soon hopefully we can. Until then you are welcome to be patient, or you can go sell all your coins. We work for ourselves, not you.

Big news / Major development being released sometime before July 11th.

I've been talking on and off with both Jahvinci and Adam over the past months and they are very dedicated to the project. You don't need to have big roadmaps and contrary to what people may think, a roadmap is not positive for a Coin because you get many people that buy based on the roadmap because it sounds as if these things are all completed but are yet unrealized ideas so people buy and plans change as Cryptocurrency changes and then get frustrated or angry because what is given is not the same thing as what is delivered. You cannot predict how the markets will change and what your growth will be over a long period of time so if you do not have a roadmap then you can focus on the tasks at hand and adapt to the rapidly changing market.

Roadmaps are usually for PnD scam coins, that way they don't have to actually do anything and can just clone and make some promises, PnD it, then bail. What I like about Maryjane, besides the great branding and logo, is that Adam really knows the industry and seems dedicated. Anyway, all I need is updates on what Adam is doing with Maryjanecoin. I do think the tech is important that it must be reliable and working, but this coin is pretty much based on the branding and the people behind it, rather than trying to be some cutting edge tech coin.

To talk about something else than node payouts, what does everyone think about updating this ANN here? I think a slick infographic that people can quickly get the main ideas might be better than what we have now, which I think is too spaced out, and a lot of information to read and absorb. Everyone wants information fast and well presented, and I think this is a fairly easy thing to get done. Thoughts?
879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HZ] Horizon Long + Fair Distribution|Decentralized Asset Exchange on: June 25, 2015, 01:18:41 AM
What is or should be the current daily node bounty?

My understanding it that it is a bit less than a million HZ divided up. So therefore it really depends how many nodes are running.

To any others about payouts and delays:

I also talked with the team a bit about payouts and it seems there are thousands of transactions involved and that is why sometimes there are delays and glitches. There is also something that has to be filled up, and the HZ also has to be gotten from the multisig holders now and then to fill it up as it runs lower. Over time I believe they will continue to work on improving this, and I heard the payout guy talking about that with our lead NXT dev. So expect delays now and then, make sure you are fully updated, and just be patient if you have everything correct, as you should get it. Thanks!
