It's like witnessing a hard-left liberal just minutes after the red pill they just swallowed starting to take effect... the hypocrisy is real
Well, because I believe in flat facts over all, I brought up some documents I typed up on finances on election day 2016 and compared the values to election day 2020.

As of today, my net worth (assets minus liabilities) has doubled in value. Granted bitcoin was at 707 then and is at 13,000 now but every asset class I have is way up.

So... there you go. Unlike Bush, the last 4 years really paid off.

(Edit: I did some more analysis: From 2004 to 2008 my NW didn't do anything. From 2008-2012 it tripled, thanks to some deals I made while the world was ending. From 2012 to 2016 it went up 60%. So 100% from Trump is good for a Republican.)

Am I the only one here who thinks like this?  Roll Eyes

Not really. I've been with the Internet since CHAOS days. Granted when AOL came onboard it fucked a bunch of things up, but the basic premises of the net is that anyone can host content. Yes lots of people use stupid ass services, but I can still run a mail server, web server, TOR server, and it's just as valid as Google's trashpot.

Same with Bitcoin. People who want the real deal will still be able to get it, this is a convenience layer on top of it.

So where are all the train pictures? I especially loved the CCMF snowpiercer one....

Yeah but....it's bitcoin and also 3 other shitcoins that we all know are completely worthless.
Not quite what I meant: They could have sold paypalcoin or some BS like that which isn't backed by anything. LTC is a little coin but at least it has a public mining community. Huffing ether... is, and I didn't see what the last one was.

I believe it's BCash, the biggest and most worthless scam coin of them all. The *king* of shitcoins (well, next to BSV of course).
Oh Bitcoin Trash! I remember that fondly, when it came out I swept a bunch of wallets, then converted it all to bitcoin. I think I even have a separate wallet for that one since I can't figure out how to tax the base value. It did.... well.

(You could say the base value was zero since it was "created" however it did ding the value of bitcoin so I think that should be taken into account. Since I converted it back to bitcoin one might also consider it a wash and I should continue to base value on the original acquisition price. Dunno, will figure out someday)

you can't deposit your own btc, you can't withdraw your own btc, when you 'spend' btc from paypal the merchant doesn't receive btc ....
I mean wtf is it? It doesn't sound like btc ... it's just some joke token they are using in their internal spreadsheet for peeps who think they are in the btc market but are actually getting played by paypal.

the deception and surreptitious datarape by silicon valley continues, can't cheer this one on.
If that is what it becomes then it is a shitcoin. We'll see.

Well, now that I'm back from a little happy walk it's time to think about this.

First, glad it's bitcoin and not a paypal shitcoin. A shitcoin would just be their little company scrip, which as we all know is worthless in real terms.

Second: The issue about not having access to your keys is of course bad. Not your keys, not your bitcoin. So I will expect them to have a way to transfer your bitcoin out of their environment and onto the real blockchain. Yes there will be fees, but it will allow us to buy small/medium amounts of bitcoin without having to fuck with bank transfers, even more KYC, or shoving $100 bills into an ATM

Third: Real bitcoin will become a lot more valuable. The nice thing about BC is you can't just print it or fake it. Grows at 6.25 coins per 10 minutes and nothing in the universe can change this. So all these money transfer people are going to need real BTC to function.

Overall bullish. For the smart among us it's not quite true bitcoin (the Govt can easily tell Paypal to give up "your" coins whereas with true BTC they have to beat you with a rubber hose) but it's a start.

Also remember Altavista was owned by Digital Equipment Corporation, at the time the largest computer company around. DEC got big because they sold "minicomputers" in the 1960's that ate the eggs of the mainframe manufacturers (IBM, Speery, Honeywell, etc). Then in the 1980's they explicitly buried their own forays into the personal computer marketplace because it would undercut their minicomputer sales and profits.

That worked out.... poorly.... for them and they were dead in a decade.

So when you think a company is big, mighty, eternal, google-y check your premises. You might find one of them is wrong.

Google at this point is where Altavista was when Google came on the scene. People used Google because it had a simple page, was quick, and not choked with crap.

All this has happened before, all this will happen again.

AltaVista never had near the money at that time that Google has now. They won't be as easy to buy out, especially not by Yahoo  Roll Eyes

I have started to use https://asciimoo.github.io/searx/ some time ago, it's a very nice meta-search engine that can easily run from an old RPi.
While it is not perfect, it keeps you from being tracked by the "don't do evil" lunatics.
Sure, but the point is when the dinosaurs get to a certain size, the little mammals start coming in and stealing their eggs. Remember that Google also built its brand on the words "Don't be Evil", and that meant something for quite a while.

Sears, AT&T, GM, Exxon, etc. Few things last forever and when the barrier to entry is low like the Internet, things can change in a flash.

Weird dream: Bought a yellow Lambo then bumped it into a wall and scratched the paint. Then a bunch of people arrived to wash it, but when I came back from lunch I found it hd been towed. Too much stress to own something like that. So annoyed I woke myself up.

Weird.

I think Ratatouille described it best:

The phrase "Anyone can cook"
Does not mean that anyone can become a great chef.

It means that a great chef can come from anywhere....

Of course. The best way to cover your committing fraud is to scream and accuse others of committing fraud. Oldest trick ever.

(Which is why I find Q shit interesting: If you're a child molester the best way to cover tracks is to accuse everyone else of being molesters)

Meantime this is a pretty good compilation of modern conspiracies. Where do we fall on this spectrum?

(Hint: I hit the "Hollow Earth" level myself)

Interesting that they consider Covid being made in a lab as a lower probability than Elvis still being alive.

Yeah, I thought that it was basically the consensus that it was made in a lab.

Elvis being made in a lab? Yeah that's more plausible.

This is why "they" are afraid of Bitcoin, this is possible only with cash: https://www.insider.com/british-woman-detained-for-2-million-british-pounds-in-suitcase-2020-10
Finding out how can people get to actually have shitloads of undeclared money means hard work and more people to work on that.

Always good to remember that money is never *your* money. It's the Govt's money, always has been....

God, he's looking even worse. Last saw him about 5-6 year ago and he looked bad then. Poor guy, aging well is a valuable thing in life.

Introducing Bitcoin on TRON
We’re excited to be the first to support Bitcoin on TRON (BTCTRON) today! Starting now, Poloniex customers can use our new Swap feature to exchange their Bitcoin to BTCTRON for free directly from within their Poloniex Wallet. BTCTRON is a type of wrapped Bitcoin token that exists on the TRON blockchain.

But...  Whatever for?
To trade your real bitcoins for silly shit, you goose!

Oi. Most times trading the cow for magic beans does not work well.....
