922  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the math behind a casino's "max bet" and bankroll management? on: August 17, 2021, 11:05:47 PM
Here is a good quote from old Yolodice's medium article.

Quote
What is the profit limit of a bet?
Limit on profit of a single bet is
p_{\rm max} = \min\left\{ 0.005 B_{\rm eff}, 0.025 B_{\rm d} \right\}pmax=min{0.005Beff,0.025Bd}
where BB is the effective bankroll (aka leveraged bankroll, including leverage loans), B_{\rm d}Bd is deposited bankroll. The player cannot place a bet that would result in profit larger than p_{\rm max}pmax.
This limit ensures optimal bankroll growth rate while minimizing the variation in the bankroll.
TL;DR; A single bet cannot win more than 0.5% of effective bankroll or 2.5% of bankroll, whichever is lower.
923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies price and their effect on gambling industry on: August 17, 2021, 12:35:34 PM
I seem to remember the gambling minimum on anonibet being 1 bitcoin around 2011/2012 for sports gambling. Later the gambling minimum was adjusted to 0.01 BTC. Then 0.001. Finally the industry average rests around 0.0001 today for sports betting. Throughout that time, I think the crypto gambling industry targeted a minimum bet of around $5. Which is more or less what established casinos in vegas offer for minimum wagers.

The thing that stands out the most to me, is bitcoin's rapid ascension into the stratosphere. Marked by its exponentially declining minimum bet sum.

Bitcoin appreciating in value value wiped out some of my gambling losses. It also stacked a massive cherry on top of my winnings.

Gambling with bitcoin during its run from $5 to $50k should go down in history as one of the all time golden eras.
I think that a lot of (and major) crypto casinos remain the same minimum bet, i.e. - you can still bet 0.00000001 BTC on Dice games, on bustabit like games and on some other provably fair games. The difference here is that 1 satoshi is 0.00047 USD right now while it was 0.000047 when price was 3K USD and 0.0000047 when price was $300. There is a 100x increasement in the price of the minimum bet.

Also, as I remember, the minimum bet on Roobet games is 0.01$
924  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1XBIT.COM ᐉ 7 BTC WB ᐉ Altcoin Betting ᐉ no KYC on: August 16, 2021, 05:46:10 PM
What do you mean by unfair bets? Is it something if anyone win the bets then you will called it unfair or there is something difference? And you will not give refund as the user is already in profit but will you give refund to those users who is in lose? Would you like to explain it clearly?
Winning is not a violation on 1xBit. But winning via various schemes like arbitrage is.
If you just play at 1xBit, without intentions to circumvent the ToS (which you are agreeing to by placing bets) - there won't be troubles.
How do you investigate arbitrages? As far as I know people bet on different sportsbooks according to their odds to win any way despite the result or does arbitrage betting include the combination of prematch and live bets? (In live odds change frequently and significantly).

And about the scams, you should avoid situations like this, users mustn't have a need to create thread here and get refund after that.

926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: HACKER returns $260m in funds | One of the biggest Crypto hacks ever. on: August 12, 2021, 12:18:56 PM
I can't provide any tx proof, but I've been seeing on Twitter that the hacker allegedly fucked up and made an extremely rookie mistake by sending a certain amount of the stolen funds on a centralized wallet. Hence apparently why this hacker has suddenly had a change of heart and is now trying to be a white hat lol.
The person who was able to get access on that much amount of money should be at least smart enough to not make such a mistake (send funds on a centralized wallet). He isn't white hat too, as NeuroticFish mentioned, he could just ask for the reward in exchange of telling the bug or he could just gain access on it to prove himself that he is "strong" and then just ignore the thing. I think, he understood that it's not the early years of crypto, when it was very hard or impossible to track the transactions (realized it later) and prefer to not spend the whole life in jail + make some self-promotions by this act (media writes about him).

His accident is equal of something like this: When someone robs the house, understoods that he forgot to wear gloves or analyzes that he left some traces and then calls the police, hey guys, I just checked if his house was secure enough and that's why I robbed.
927  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥Playbetr.com🔥- Casino, Sportsbook, Live Games- 14 Coins- Instant Aff Payouts on: August 12, 2021, 11:49:40 AM
I did that stupid verification

Normally, we do not require KYC, however your account had logins from 11 IPs, from multiple countries and VPN.  The verification was necessary to ensure that you are not playing from a restricted region, as required by our gaming license.

Had you completed this in March when you were asked multiple times, it would have been sent in March. We have sent the withdrawal of your full account balance, including your winnings.  Thank you for your cooperation.

How can the verification process help you to identify whether a person is playing from a restricted region or not? Maybe he is a citizen of that restricted area but is a permanent resident of another country and lives there?

Btw congrats that you have become an official partner of Paris Saint Germain, this is one of the most exciting moment in crypto industry, you are becoming a partner of a team where Lionel Messi will play (and Neymar too). Btw will we ever see your logo on their T-shirts? And one interesting question - Will you implement PSG token on your website and additionally run marketing campaign around it?
928  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there an app where I can set an alert for a coin every +/-%#? on: August 12, 2021, 10:51:58 AM
I don't know about dedicated app or a website but I was using Binance for that, cons is that it can't automatically alert automatically the way you wish:
Quote
So if the price is decreasing, and I've set it at -%1 , once the price hits $99, I'll be altered, and then alerted again when it hits $98..and so on ($97, $96, $95...etc).
Okay, in Binance, you have to move on Market's section, choose the coin you want to track and then click on Alert. Then there will come a popup of options that incllude:
1. Price rises above (you have to enter the value and alert frequency).
2. Price drops to (you have to enter the value and alert frequency).
3. Change is over (you have to enter the percentage and alert frequency).
4. Change is under (you have to enter the percentage and alert frequency).
5. 24H change is over (you have to enter the percentage and alert frequency).
6. 24H change is down (you have to enter the percentage and alert frequency).

Btw if you need alerts so frequently, what about to just spend more time in viewing the carts? Cryptocurrency prices change so frequently that it will really mess with your attention.
929  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: August 12, 2021, 10:12:09 AM
TryNinja
First of all, thank you for this amazing bot. I discovered it recently and seems very beneficial.
I don't know coding and to be fair, I have no idea how the icons, etc are set on this bot but I think there is one thing that needs to be fixed if possible.

When I click on the Notifications, then I see this:

At the moment, all of the notifications are enabled but if we consider that UX, it's hard for me to understand at the moment whether it's enabled or not without actually knowing of it.
1. From this picture, I think that notifications are disabled and that's the reason why I see X icon.
2. Actually, notifications are enabled and Disable (X) buttons will be activated once I click on them.

I think it would be better to make like this: Positive button with the text "Enabled" instead of "Enable" and X icon with the word "Disabled" instead of "Disable". This way, when I see X icon and the word disabled, I'll understand that it's Disabled and I have to click on it in order to Enable.
930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can you combat market gloom? on: August 12, 2021, 09:03:59 AM
When my TA fails and the market enters a bear phase, I find it tough to cope with the market. Although I find it difficult to sell or choose to hold, I have found that the majority of the tokens I have do not change when I sell. Changes took place. I honestly have no idea why.
Please tell us how you handle market conditions and feelings.
What about to turn disadvantages into advantages? Stop-loss function is one of the most beneficial and must-to-use function in trading. Don't ever think that I won't use stop-loss function because it won't fall that much, etc, market has always proved that it's necessary! And another advice from me would be that you can use Futures Trading and open the short position when you are highly confident that the current price is peak and it will start decline. This way, you can not only keep the profits but also profit from the loss, that's why I love it.
931  Economy / Economics / Re: Cybersecurity workers shortage in USA on: August 12, 2021, 08:42:52 AM
Same thing here in Australia.

I've seen LinkedIn ads here hiring for cybersecurity professionals and apparently people could get in with a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Media Communications. Makes absolutely no sense.

Is this even worthwhile if you are hiring unqualified people imo? Sure, on paper you may seem like an absolute gem of a firm for having 50 staff on hand for cybersecurity related matters, but when you realise that 45 of them had studied English literature and haven't the slightest clue what they're doing, it's a lot less impressive (especially when they're getting paid big time!).
I love Australia so much but I can't live with spiders Cheesy
My friend is a cybersecurity specialist in Australia and she has told me that in IT sectors, sometimes they don't care much about your educational background and what matters the most is your working experience and I would say that it's true at some point. I have often seen people finishing MBA working as a fullstack developers, I have even seen one as a DevOps engineer in one bank after finishing an intense Bootcamp and learning course.

Just saw in one LinkedIn job offer section that the requirements for cybersecurity analyst was - A qualification or equivalent work experience in Information Technology.
932  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: not paying? You should unlearn then relearn on: August 11, 2021, 11:19:04 PM
People want a constant profit when trading and then they feel euphoric, once the loss begins, then panic turns on like the comedown after the euphoria. Also, it's not that easy to unlearn what you have already learned, it's like, you know, the first impression is the last impression, so, if you learn bad at first, then it becomes very hard to fix that and "unlearn". I think you have to catch that moment when instead of learn, you understand by logical thinking and if you find something wrong, then it becomes easy to unlearn the past thing and comfortably move on a new one.
933  Other / Meta / Re: Do You Believe a New Forum Software Will Attract More Users to Bitcointalk? on: August 11, 2021, 10:26:50 PM
I think that so many times have passed that the epochtalk, idea behind the epochtalk and everything related to a "new forum software" is already old and we have to really work on a new one. Bitcointalk needs full, enormous change in a better way or this forum will turn into a digital museum where the legend has born.

We need a new forum with brand new features and capabilities, kinda a mix of stackoverflow, github and reddit with some exchange elements (at least it should carry btc price in live). It can be a great PR if bitcointalk has academy or publishes course on coursera, in my mind this website has huge potential but in a way it is represented today.

There was an idea of bitcoin land by theymos that was requiring enormous amount of money but the idea of developing this forum is 100% achievable, the man was thinking about island after all.

Are you saying that they should give up on epochtalk and start from scratch designing a new forum?  If so, thank you for the smile.  Smiley  The idea that the "new forum software" has taken so long to be developed that it needs to be scrapped and a new forum design started is funny to me.  It probably shouldn't be, but it is.  Reminds me of traffic problems playing Sim City as a kid.  You quickly learn that addressing traffic by building more roads is the best way to create more traffic problems.
I don't really mean doing everything from scratch but really, we should meet the modern requirements and these requirements change quite quickly. Bitcointalk needs to deliver product at high velocity, it needs a team of front/backend developers, devops engineers, etc... Bitcointalk can be more than just a forum because this website has a unique history and it carries a lit of revolution in financial system, am I wrong?

Forums were popular in old years with bitcointalk's current features and ui. Do you think that 2007's Amazon could beat the current eBay? Or 2007's Youtube could beat the current dailymotion? What's the cost of bad UI? From the recent months we can say that in Citibank's case, it was 500 million USD.
934  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling becomes popular on: August 11, 2021, 09:37:03 PM
The world is in pandemic and everyone is encouraged to stay home, you can watch TV, movies but gaming and online gambling is something that can excite you, so it's become something that you spend time while the world is in a pandemic, and many gamblers are also recommending online gambling to their friends to spend their boring hours at home.
Online gambling is something really that can excite you and there was an enormous load on evolution's servers during the beginning of the covid pandemic from Italy but at the same time gambling is a very expensive way of entertainment or call it a hobby if you wish. During the pandemic, people have to use their savings because they are forced to not work (or some people want to avoid work because of the fear of covid) and finally your savings are emptying. If we consider the fact that pandemic lasted for months, then months of gambling especially accelerates this process.

I would say that this increasement was only because of pandemic and gambling didn't attracted "loyal gamblers", it just attracted one-time gamblers because of boring days.
935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy Low, Sell High on: August 11, 2021, 09:13:38 PM
People say that bitcoin was $3800 in March 2020 and no one wanted to buy and because of this people are stupid, etc but at the same time I have a question against: Would you call stupid to people who were selling bitcoin when price was 3800 USD? When there is a buyer, there is seller also (My question isn't dedicated to the OP but I have heard many times that most successors call this kind of people stupid).

Also, if you can't buy low and sell high, then buy high and sell low, i.e. use futures trading. I don't understand of those who say that they are never able to sell high, just use the futures trading if your fate looks like that and that's all!

937  Economy / Economics / Re: Poor and middle class as a mentality on: August 11, 2021, 08:10:16 PM
Usually, poor people and also poor countries are more religious and most of the religions tell you that being a rich is a sin and if you live like a martyr, then you'll rest in piece and all the rich people will become the victim of devils. And then these people often cool down their minds with the words like: Yeah, I am poor but I have a good soul, like when a bad looking guy says that he looks average / below average but he has a beautiful soul and other hilarious jokes.

There are also a lot of things there: People don't want to do what other people did to become a rich, what efforts they put, etc. It requires a decent and smart work from someone to achieve a high quality of life and become rich.

Also again, some very talented and open-minded but poor people live in countries where they can't achieve success because they have to work hard everyday just to feed themselves and there is a high nepotism there. Life is luck!
938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should you own at least one Bitcoin? on: August 11, 2021, 07:33:45 PM
Many people are considering how to invest in Bitcoin. My advice is: try to hold as many Bitcoins as possible. If you are not rich, you also need to hold at least one Bitcoin. If you don’t own one Bitcoin, It is possible that an entire era will be missed.

Why would I suggest this?

Because I think ~snip~
~snip~
Because you think? It doesn't matter what anyone thinks if it's not backed by very strong arguments and to be fair, in this case, your statement doesn't carry strong value. Also, as I understood, we have to buy bitcoin because it will rise but I would say that only the post halving year matters the most when it comes to profit from investment. You have to use this year on it's max to benefit from it and after gaining a huge profit and selling it nearly on an all-time high, then you have to open a short position in futures trading and look at a profit with a huge smile on your face.
939  Economy / Trading Discussion / Daily Investment Compound Calculator - Newbies Attention! on: August 10, 2021, 11:21:04 PM
I often see threads/posts here on the subject - why newbie traders always lose, why only smallest percentage of traders profit, etc.

The root of your problem is that you want to becom rich just in one day and that's where the daily compound interest calculator shines to prove that your strategy of getting 10% and more on every trade is very wrong because if you would continue like that, you would be a billionaire just in a very short time frame.

Let's say that you have $1000 and your aim is daily 2% profit (it doesn't have to be in a row).

$1000, daily 2% profit with reinvestment for 365 days = $1,377,408.29 = 137640.8% profit.

$1000, daily 5% profit with reinvestment for 180 days = $6,517,391.84 = 651639.2% profit.

$1000, daily 1% profit with 10x leverage (1%*10=10%) for 90 days = $5,313,022.61 = 531202.3% profit.

Here is the url - https://www.thecalculatorsite.com/finance/calculators/daily-compound-interest.php

Also, remember that people usually invest millions and if $1000 can bring you such an enormous profit by your strategy when you think that you can easily make some percent daily, then millionares would buy the world.
940  Economy / Economics / Re: Why don't banks work with cryptocurrency? on: August 10, 2021, 10:29:18 PM
I wouldn't say that they don't work with cryptocurrencies, no, some banks are really interested in it but they don't act directly. More likely I would say that every bank is interested in it but the way they express their interest is very different, some of them want to adapt it, some of them want to conquer it and some of them want to get rid of it.

As I said, some banks are really interested in it and isntead of directly accepting the crypto, they create 3rd party companies, partner with them and offer bitcoin exchange that way. For example, imagine I have an account in HSBC bank and HSBC owns a company similar of Webmoney. Webmoney on another hand is a whole different experience that offers me to store some $$, pay bills, deposit on gambling accounts, etc but... It also gives me possibility to receive the crypto and convert in into USD or other currency. HSBC can't do this but their partner Webmoney (just saying) can do it legally because similar financial providers are rarely regulated. I deposit crypto on webmoney, convert in into USD and because of HSBC/Webmoney partnership I spend my $ on HSBC bank account and then do whatever I wish.
