@Davidlatapie

I'll start a thread in politics later today. This is something I have a great deal to say on. In fact, I have for years now Cheesy Right now, I have a bunch of work to do, but I'm more than willing to continue this.
1802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - Fast High Reward PoS - Advanced Wallet - Fun Community. V1.4 on: July 18, 2014, 06:55:49 PM
Hi tranz, thanks for your ongoing input into Nickels, we are glad that Nickels has a dev like you.
Going forward we need to think of Nickels as an early competitor like the way websites were in the 90's when the internet was born.
Who won and who lost were the guys that came up with the best ideas to get traffic and today the end result is GOOGLE.

As we can see that all the other alts are trying different ideas to capture the crowd. Anybody here or outside this forum is helping if they are positively promoting Nickels. That for starters is what we need. Positive promotion.

We need to look at what features that a wallet needs to have to make it easy to intergrate with websites.

The wallet could have a chat/social platform were users can tip

I have seen cloakcoin with its own trading platform in the wallet

The key to any coins success right now is the ability to create a killer wallet and market the coin like storm.

I think I have said this somewhere. Marketing can make or break.

Often times these types of things are easier said than done. We all have to take a step back and realize Tranz's priorities, from what I understand they are:

1 - to ensure the wallets and network are safe from attack and abuse and that value can be stored without risk of losing the coins
2 - fix any bugs or problems with the existing wallet that causes users to be confused or client to crash
3 - charity work (may be higher on the list, this is just a guess)
4 - helping others learn
5 - GUI
6 - marketing

With suggestions like "create a trading platform that is inside the wallet", it might be easiest to help Tranz to do this by building the framework and submitting a pull request when it is ready. I am sure Tranz is a real person with a family and full time job and that HBN is an almost full time hobby.  So maybe the best thing would be to create some code for Tranz to look at?

This.

I can't code, and this is endlessly frustrating to me. I'm going to learn, because I have many ideas for cryptos that I am certain can be done. I don't often put them out, because the correct answer is the one you just gave. Help. Write some code to do the thing you desire to happen. But I can't right now, so I keep my mouth shut. Somewhat.

There are a lot of people on here that DO have the skills. Put your skills to use if you can. I'm a writer and a manager, not a programmer. I do what I can, and m trying to fix the lack.

I frequently ask you for lines of code, and try to figure them out. I'm learning from this, and I will eventually be able to modify other's code. But I need a much more basic understanding of programming, particularly in C++. I'm considering going back to school for that very purpose. At my age, that's something of a daunting endeavour, but not beyond reality Cheesy

Just an Idea to shoot out. Is any coin doing daily Fantasy Sports Contests? Lots of Money exchanged and legal in the US. Not sure how hard in would be to Implement or Partner with existing sites. Fantasy Football/Betting brings lots of attention this time of year.

This is pure gold. Anything that people can gamble with, they will. ANYTHING. I used to live in Reno, and I have met literally thousands of people who saved up for YEARS to go on a gambling spree. They blew that whole wad with few exceptions, and had a great time doing it.

Also, poker sites would be a good idea. I'd play. I'm a fair poker player Cheesy

I have been brainstorming some things to add/do with ZS, and I wanted to open it up to the community as well. Reply to this with any ideas you guys may have (ie. Anon wallet, etc).

First off... Could you please stop using that font/size/whatever it is?

Second off, CG already said if we didn't get on coin payments, he'd make his own.

Agreed, and agreed. However, his post was spot on other than those two errors.
1805  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Off topic: oppressive governements on: July 18, 2014, 06:26:10 PM
If you are able to step back from it and look, you'll find that the United States of America, Incorporated is by far the most oppressive nation on earth.
That's properly an overstatement. North Korea is more oppressive and in a way, so is Bhutan. Let alone Burma.

We westerners tend to forget how lucky we are. As Tocqueville wrote: "democracy is a system were people will always be unhappy with their situation, before it is actually possible to improve" (not exact wording)

An Algerian rap music band once said about French rap music band complaining: if you were in Algeria, you would produce one album a month.

Granted, there is a lot to improve in Western world countries (and this is right to try to improve them), but calling US the most oppressive nation is an exaggeration. Grass is always greener on the other side.

This is probably not the place for this discussion, so I'll keep it short for the moment.

WITHIN their borders, what you are saying is true. But the US dominates and manipulates everybody. It is the largest military empire that has ever existed, making Rome look like pipsqueaks. The ideals that nearly every American subject can pop out of their mouth have been so egregiously twisted in actual practice as to be unrecognizable. What the US figured out that most have not is taht if you can regulate everything and make people BELIEVE that the rgulations have purposes other than sheer enslavement, that teh majority won't complain. Which is why they tout democracy as if it were a virtue. In the long run, no democracy has survived, and this one won't either. Because at it's core, there is no more oppressive system. As someone on this very board has as their tagline: "Democracy: The original 51% attack.

If you truly believe in the principles of democracy (which thankfully almost no-one does), then if 6 people in a group of ten decided that one of their number should be killed (regardless of any reason), he should just stand up and die. A very limited amount of democracy can be useful, but those limits must be explicit and rigid, else you get a creeping, grinding enslavement over time.

The United States was not set up as a Democracy. It wasn't truly a democracy until the 16th and 17th amendments shifted slavery away from piecemeal individual owners to a general system in which all of those born were born in bondage to the "federal authority" via the income tax, and the abolition of the Senate, making the United States of America instead of these United States of America.

I could write a book on the subject. In fact, I mostly have Tongue But this thread is about Tek, so perhaps we should continue this elsewhere.

Think what might be happening is people are seeing HYP as an opportunity to liquidate what they invested into the dying TRK without thinking about the long term benefits of holding HYP.  We could also be seeing the exchange dump their converted wallet's bag...  Hard to know for sure.

Looking forward to the next update!  Being able to see network stake when u aren't minting is great!  So annoying that you have to go to debug console for that info now.

Bittrex confirmed that they won't do anything with their TRK wallet and that it will be destroyed. Whether you trust what they say on IRC is up to you.

I haven't kept up with TRK. what's the story? I kept my little bit of truck and it staked, but I've not even tried to follow what's going on. I only bought it to get HYP Cheesy

Bad news from New York State for US users and exchanges:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2aycxs/hi_this_is_ben_lawsky_at_nydfs_here_are_the/

Let's tell them how we feel about this loud and hard! Just try to stay civil... There's still time to change these poorly thought out policies.

See my tagline. I've no reason to be civil. Like our ancestors, we live under a regime that has no respect for us, little fear of us, and absolutely views us as their personal property, to be used and disposed of in any manner they see fit. I am a human being, not a piece of their broken machine. I'll not only not be civil, I'll engage in destructive compliance. From this point forward, if I do business with anyone who is in the State of New York, I'm sorry, but you'll have to dox yourself or be denied. I will certainly provide you with the proper documentation to show that you have been denied due to willful non compliance with these bullshit laws, should you be so bold as to sue them for deliberate obstruction of lawful commerce, and I'll testify in their kangaroo court on the condition that the media are both allowed and encouraged to attend.

I will follow the court's ACTUAL rules, which are the rules of Parliamentary debate. I was captain of the team, and I only lost once.

Sounds good to me, I'm just the messenger here. This is the kind of bull headed stupidity I would expect from more oppressive countries but, the State of New York seems to qualify. We all need to voice our views in this...

If you are able to step back from it and look, you'll find that the United States of America, Incorporated is by far the most oppressive nation on earth. It's a hard truth, but it is the truth. I'm not a young man, and I did not become an anarchist easily or without thought.

To my fellow Syncers

as you know I am vehmentaly opposed to trolls

and fudders and yes they are definantly about to enter the fray

due to the immenent release of phase 2 of our coins progress

I will not be stepping in this time to combat them as it will be futile

so please forgive me for this, however if they do go to far i may correct them

here and there.

REMEMBER THE BEST OFFENCE AGAINST THE TROLLS AND FUDSTERS IS TO

NOT REPLY AND TO NOT FEED THEM!

Enjoy the show Wink

Trolls are as much a part of the game as the optimists. The problem with ignoring them is that sometimes trolling is not intentional and they raise legitmate concerns. I try to read everything, and apply a strong bullshit filter. I tend to be an optimist, and it has bit me more than once. So, I see them as a useful debugging system.

That, and some days I just wanna hit somebody, and trolls give you the perfect target.

MsCollec & Nite,

Correct me if I,m wrong but wasn't the main reason for jumping to 100% POS to get the block chain moving at a steady pace?

As we lower rhe interest towards 1 % will the block chain not slow down again?

Or are these thing not related in code anymore?

It's a time thing. As the coin gets distributed, and people use coin control to put the blocks to stake in a sequence, the chain gets steadier. After a while, it will move regularly even on small staking, and there won't need to be a push to get it going.

I also appreciate dumpers selling. I already gathered thousands of TEK, HBN, CAPS and PHS and i have some BTC left for investments.

I'm really quite jealous, Ive managed to pick up some TEK on that last sell to 22500, Thats about it...for now Smiley

What he said. I have a solid plan on how much tek I wish to acquire, and the damn dumpers always get it out of their system before my funds are available. Just you watch. Sunday, the price will be back up in the 40's, cuz that's when I can do something about it.

BTW, sunday is because of PBmining, link in my sig. I've done very well with them. They mine BTC for me, I turn it into tek Cheesy

Got my first stake this morning Cheesy Can now confirm that small amounts do work. It hit about 7 hours later than minimum. Not too bad on only 70 coins Cheesy

Thanks for reporting in. Yes that is not bad at all, 7 hours after the maximum for such a small amount. I am guessing in the future that as the supply of coins staking increases, a small block like this might push out to 1 or 2 days passed maturity.  On HBN it can take weeks after maturity to get a block of 25 to stake.

Maybe I'm just lucky. I've heard the same thing about TEK, but the longest past maturity I've gone has been ~4days, and that was on a trifling small amount. If I'm lucky, I hope it continues Tongue

First of all, thanks to everyone who answered before about staking....
So, today, my wallets (I split them onto 2 PC's) staked, and I received blocks of around 360 HYP's - which is great.

Now, when I look at the twin axes in the bottom right of the wallet, they state that "not minting because you don't have mature coins".

Is that to be expected?

Do I now have to wait another 9 days before the next batch of staked coins are mined? Or should I be doing something else to help them along?

Thanks in advance Smiley

It's nine days (min) per block. If you have more blocks that haven't staked yet, they will get there. The coins that just staked, both the original and the newly minted, are reset to zero for the maturity period. If that's all you have, then yes, it's another nine days. Nothing will help them along. Coin control just helps you organize the blocks into (your) optimum configuration.
1818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [HYP] Bounty for logo - Hyperstake on: July 16, 2014, 07:17:45 PM
Combined logos looks nice Smiley Thanks for appreciation Smiley I think we could make a successful merge of those two. I'll try to do it today.

If you manage to share png by then (hosted file is jpg so it has lost transparency) it will look better.

Stay tuned.

Edit: Here it is : http://imgur.com/6GtPhdk What do you think community? Is merged version better ?

I've also used one of 16x16 version on wallet icon, looks very clear, good job kussaka!

I'd call it complementary. I think they both look great, and which is better would depend on context.

My plan is to hang back, watch the idiots, and catch what they drop.

I would not call them idiots.
I appreciate them selling.

I buy consistently as much as I can (it guarantees I will get to stake those coins and they can't)

Jason

I figure brutal honesty is the best policy in this case. I'm gonna tell them they are damn fools while enriching myself on their foolishness. Either they'll ignore me and give me more cheap tek, or they'll listen and quit being idiots, which improves the value of my coins. Either way, I win. One way, they do to Cheesy

Is this why my pathetic little stash went from time to stake of 8 hours to 27 days over night? (I'm working on more acquisitions, not really worried. This is a technical/curiousity question)
