1841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - Fast High Reward PoS - Advanced Wallet - Fun Community. V1.4 on: July 14, 2014, 04:24:43 AM
I feel like I have to talk about something. I understand every coins taken a beating in July and they have, market sentiment seems negative at the moment, perfectly normal in cyclical markets.

Still something feels forced. Consistent looks at the Depth chart show Buy support is ALWAYS larger than sell support yet there's consistent~5-29000k dumps every day. Each dump waits for support to build and purposefully crashes through that support to reach a new low. In the last week alone we have seen over 230,000HBN dumped. The issue is that who ever is dumping isn't trying to maximise individual profit at all, it seems they are either:

a,Aiming at HBN hitting a certain price,
b, trying to crash the market,
or C, there's lots of medium stake holders leaving the market which are panicking and stupid frantically hitting the sell button.

We all know these are amazing times to buy in. I would of killed for these price just a month ago. Why the exodus? And more importantly who's buying in? If we have fresh community members, please introduce yourselves.

I actually see the same thing with a number of coins, not all of which are PoS. I think there are some big players manipulating the market for some purpose. I can't prove it of course, but I see the same thing as you. BIG sell wall gets knocked down out of the blue, then spirals down towards the next one, then rises a bit, then it happens again. Which means somebody or some group is dumping a LOT of BTC into whatever is going on.

Or people are just bailing en masse, but that seems unlikely.

five to kussaka, due to simplicity and I like the font. I prefer the one on the right, but would suggest that if he wins, incorporate both at different places in the wallet. The large word at the bottom of his post would make  a GREAT opening splash screen, as well as an outstanding web header.

This was a hard choice for me. There's a lot of good work out there. I think that it might not be a bad idea to incorporate some of the others into various projects as time goes on, particularly see360's green ones. Sorry, the brown just don't work for me Tongue

Well, there's my bit. Good luck, guys! Lots of good stuff here.

SUBstrata, thanks! I've been away from the machine my wallets are on for a few days, due to work. I had a major brainfart when I was trying to answer the guy.

Every coin I hold has taken a beating since 1st July.
People cashing out for holidays? idk, just a thought? Opinions?

That's been my thought. I can only speak to my own country, cuz I haven't been out of it in over twenty years, but mid summer, Americans in general get stupid with vacations, parties, and bullshit. I suspect the heat cooks their brains. Me, I stay in when it's over a hundred degrees Cheesy

Version 1.5 is now being started. Please see this thread at CCT for updates as they happen. I expect a few months dev, q/a time, and relased in Q3 '14

If you have any comments feel free to post here or in the offical 1.5 thread.

https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/13199-preparing-hbn-v15/?p=110260

Thanks!

I have a suggestion for new wallet functionality:

A possibility to sent recurring transfers, like 10 HBN every day to some other wallet until you cancel it, or with an end date that you provide. Would be quite fancy and unique. (as far as I know being a newby)

+1
would be a great tool for organizing staking blocks, payouts to various things. I think this is a great idea!

EDIT: I like Jamesco's suggestion as well. Combine the two, and you've vastly improved the coin control features!

re: multipool

i don't have hashing power, but i'll consider donating BTC. i'm also looking to see who wants to mine on it. and more importantly, who is providing exactly how much hashing power guaranteed. running your own multipool is hard because you actually have to have enough hash power to find blocks. if you're not finding blocks it's a giant moneysink. profit-switching relies on pretty frequent blocks being found, as the coin could be changed every 15 minutes. if you didn't find a block for whatever coin it's mining in those 15 minutes, then it's pointless.

i'd say at least a gigahash scrypt should be what we're aiming for, if we can't consider that a realistic goal, then we might be premature with this idea. we need heavy-hitter miners to make it work.

Hey djslick,

These are all great points. In regards to the maintenance of the pool, that's something that we at chunky would take care of ourselves. In regards to profit switching, we use our own custom in house metrics. We've been mining and trading for a long time, and in my own experience I've found it's much more profitable to switch once or twice per day only. Price fluctuations as well as network fluctuations are common.

We maximize our returns to our users by employing two principal tactics:

1. Ensuring no hashes are wasted.
2. Avoiding dumps on the alts mined wherever possible. We generally list as sell orders rather than use the buy column.

#2 gives you the added benefit of reducing any potential negative impact on other coin communities. These methods for running a multipool actually wind up making is to that the alts being mined are granted an easy rise in price and added volume on their exchanges, while giving buy support and volume for your own coin.

For choosing what coins we mine, we factor in a few things:

1. Exchange volume: Are people actually buying the coins we mine? Often the top profitable coins on coinwarz have no buyers.
2. Network difficulty: block times are a serious issue. If we're not going to find a block within 6 hours, then daily returns can be severely impacted.
3. Market Depth: If we're forced to dump (IE, a coin we're mining is on a downtrend), will the end of our dump significantly impact the price?
4. Actual returns: Is the current price of the coin along with its difficulty in line with good average returns?

The community co-mining aspect is also what addresses the "getting started" issue. We already have 475 MH on our community multipools right now, and our unique coding allows for your community's hash to be combined with what's already being mined by our other users.

1 GH is an excellent target and would have a significant impact on markets. 1 GH is also enough to mine very high difficulty coins.

All the best,

Chris

All of the above looks good. I have a technical question for ya, though it don't require a technical answer. On coins where it's possible, do you have merged mining? It seems to me that doing so would increase the profits by a decent amount.

I recommend that everyone give a quick look at this sheet davidlatapie is working on and I have help a bit with. Comparison of PoS coins https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ikUfhQXaWMe8BrfS8QpiO3X86xynoK0U6eLlWpE4wDk/edit#gid=1866335594

As I can see it being edited as I watch, I'll not mention the ones missing yet Cheesy Looks like a very useful resource for all of us stakers.

EDIT: I would add a column or perhaps two showing how long to maturity and percentage of minting.

If there is a Zimstake multipool how many of you will point your miners at it?
And how many are prepared to donate a small amount of btc towards getting it up?

we only need .5 btc in total.

I'd point a gridseed at it. Probably more than that down the line, but right now that's what I got that can move around Tongue

Looks like the good news is sparking a rally, time to buy and stake!(:

This has been said many times, "time to buy.... time to buy" but yet I didnt see anyone buying the coin, only massive dumps almost all the time and the price goes down to the earth every single minute

Ok, I try to follow my own advice and not be condescending, but...

How the HELL do you see a dump without seeing a buy?Huh?

This is not my main coin. My main coin is TEK. I ALWAYS have a bit of dust at a ridiculously low price sitting on cryptsy just in case some moron dumps. You think I'm unique?

I guarantee you there are speculators doing just that.

So what is the max coins?

There is no such thing as max coins on peercoin clones.

SO this is NOT the same coin as Hypercoin?
As far as I know, it's completely unrelated. It's a fork of TRK. At least at the outset. I suspect that presstab will make that fork unrecognisable before long Tongue

Well, of course not! maxcoins aren't peerclones Cheesy

Sorry, couldn't resist. Yesterday was a bit of a mad house for me. I'll update to the new wallet today. I think I'll be hitting stake eligibility on my measly 75 coins monday.
1856  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC Stolen from Poloniex on: July 13, 2014, 01:47:49 AM
What's the status with the stolen BTC from Poloniex?
Has everyone been fully reimbursed yet?

Yes, they fully paid back the $50,000 that was stolen. This issue is completely resolved thanks to the dedication of their awesome team. Now all they need is a graphic designer. Their website has always looked like chocolate-chip mint ice cream that was puked up and sitting on the floor for a couple of days in June.

LOL!

Not the way I would have put it, but I sure as hell can't improve on that  Grin

Hello My first amount went in on 8th of June but nothing has staked and no tek babies have been made. How do I make my wallet to stake and make Tek babies because I feel sad there are no babies in my wallet and it is over 30 days. 8th Jnue the first Tek coins went in wallet. Cry Can someone help me please?  Smiley

Sometimes it takes a little longer than 30 days. Make sure your wallet stays open and unlocked when you reach your 30 day date.

How do you "unlock" the TEK wallet?  Thanks.

If you haven't encrypted it, you don't need to worry about it. If you have, it's a command in the console. Can't think of it right now and I'm on the wrong machine to look. If nobody else answers before I get to it, I'll edit this in a bit. I think it's unlockwallet <walletpassphrase> <time in seconds>.

I have some news from CG,
I wont go into details but he is having some serious personal issues he has to deal with
We should expect to hear from him personally in the coming week.

Hope it all works out for him. You doin' better today?

Yes, but there is no incentive to buy and sell OTC when we already have a good exchange, so it seems fishy that you'd still want to do this.
Reason is: not moving the price. This is one of the main reason for OTC when exchanges are availables.

I did buy TEK OTC one week ago. A large amount which could have move the price if I did not buy OTC. The more illiquid a market, the more interesting OTC is.

True. Other reasons might be not wanting to pay fees, or deal with the structure of an exchange, building a reputation... There are many GOOD reasons for private dealing.
1860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - Fast High Reward PoS - Advanced Wallet - Fun Community. V1.4 on: July 12, 2014, 08:17:48 PM
It's too bad Tokyo locked his investment thread. That was a cool read. I think it helped maintain value as well since it kept HBN in the lime light a bit.

The current price is pretty sweet for buying. I shut all my miners off due to summer and am just waiting for my Gawminer Falcon to get here to fire up and build some btc to buy more hbn.

I do apologize for locking the journal. But I was being threatened by some trolls that they were going to spam the thread. I didn't want them to bring any negativity to my journal or to HBN so I decided to lock it. Also, the Hypercoin guys were using my thread to pump HYPER so that was also another reason why I shut it down, for now.

I might unlock it and do some monthly updates, but I will not leave it open for questions or discussion, as trolls might use that opportunity to spam the thread.

It is unfortunate it has come to that, but that is where I find myself now. I am still invested in HBN and it has allowed me to expand my investments into other coins, while still supporting HBN. It has been a very useful financial tool for me to generate ROI and it will continue to be one of my main altcoin holdings.

Tokyoghetto you tried to destroy a coin that trusted you and your "helping" hand.

All I've seen from the HYPER team is hard work and all I've seen from you is negative bullshit.

No one threatened you, you obviously just can't take what you dish out liberally.
