2781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: February 18, 2014, 10:00:19 PM
wrong, you are not the new elite, you are the old elite. noone who is poor could have ever afforded to mine or buy bitcoins or any other cryptocurrency. its a wealthy-people-thing only.

I am essentially destitute. I mine. I am supplementing my income with my miner.

Try again. Try harder.

You agree? Because I correct you with a fact? Than I MUST BE PAID. Please. Get over yourself.

You don't have ANY facts. You are just relaying what AMT_Miners has been saying on here. Stop acting like you have the inside track on what's going on.

So far they haven't :

1. Posted photos of finished 1.2TH's (yknow, to prove they ACTUALLY exist)
2. Delivered a single 1.2TH yet

But let's see what happens tomorrow.

So make up your mind. Am I a paid AMT employee or not.

You don't pay very good attention. I've said they have delivered but not 1.2 machines. Follow the bouncing ball pal.

YOU ARE ALL JACKASSES

+1

No, I'm a SMARTASS! Cheesy

I am in the (painfully slow) process of uploading the video review of the miner they sent me. I'll post the link as soon as whatever is throttling Youtube uploads gets over with. Right now it's showing like 1200 minutes to upload. Never really ran into that before on YT, but there it is.

Great to hear that AMT will be shipping wednesday. Perhaps they'll lay some of the FUD to rest.

Sirminesalot, RWmax, take it outside. Or better yet, tell me where to meet you with a camera. We'll split the winnings. Cheesy

Can you film it with something other than a potato while your children crawl all over it?

LOL!

Yeah, I did. It's mostly screen shots with voiceover. That first one was my antique webcam. I figured better get something out before the wolves circled to close... and my boy really wanted in on it. It was pretty awful. I'm leaving it up as a "tutorial" in how not to make a video.

Nice... How is the new daughter by the way?

One thing to remember, with high-speed internet... Usually it is only high-speed "downloading". Uploads are usually slow as hell.

Things to consider, with video, is the actual codex used to encode the movie. Google/Youtube will eat that up, and process it the way it wants, to deliver the multi-stream ability. The only good way to get it to go fast, is use the smallest video resolution that google/youtube has for display. (144p - 360p) Below 360p, is fast, but 360p is the native display that google/youtube defaults to. Thus, recording off-sizes or higher resolutions, will take a lot longer to upload, as it processes all streams (with assistance from your computer), and uploads all streams at once (using your upload ability).

Google/Youtube Tips:
- Use Mono-sound at smaller sample-rates. (mp3-stream or wma-stream google/youtube translates them all. Those save some bandwidth. Stereo and 5.1 SS is just a waste on google/youtube.)
- Remove sound, if there is nothing to hear. (Use google/youtube's insert music stream and notations instead.)
- Force standard video resolutions native to google/youtube. (Custom sizes get converted poorly by google/youtube. Plus, it adds one more stream called, "original" to the list of resolutions, which takes even longer to process.)
- Don't use xvid or AVI or MPG. (Google/youtube can read those, but those are horrible to convert to something the flash-player can actually display on all computers. Yes, google/youtube-player is still a flash-player.)

If you check your internet with speedtest.net, it will show you how deathly sad the upload rates are. (Unless you pay for high upload speeds, you will be lucky if it even does burst-mode uploading. Just like downloads are usually burst-mode speeds at the max you pay for, while constant downloading is usually throttled-down a few notches. Ours, actually bursts 10x faster than what we pay for, and throttles just below what we pay for. Each service is different. Not to mention, while uploading, mining in pools can slow things down a little. That is a constant stream of puked packets between your other uploads.)
The new daughter is hungry! Constantly and without surcease Cheesy

Anyway, the video is up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyBQlj0nP7E

I was aware of most of the above. I did a great deal of youtubing back around '07-'09. But that was just straight vlogging. This time, I used mostly screen capture, since the point of the video was to show the miner functioning. It filmed in AVI. No biggie, right? Except that every attempt to convert it to FLV ended up at 2 seconds, no sound, no video.

I gave up and uploaded the original file, which was way bigger than I had expected given the content. But it still shouldn't have taken 22 freakin' hours to upload! That's on Youtube's side. My upstream is pretty good.

Anyway... I have some questions for you about solo mining. I'll PM you, probably tomorrow. Today is going to be ridiculously busy.
2785  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-02-15] Mt Gox is deploying and testing a fix on: February 18, 2014, 06:24:48 AM

I stand corrected - Gox IS dead, and Mark knows it, he just needs to stop people from withdrawing all their funds. Classy. Just the kind of "goxxing" I would expect from an inexperienced businessman.

This.

That was exactly what I thought when I read that. He's putting limits on withdrawals of YOUR coins. There are two groups of people gonna win this one. Those brave souls who bought at ridiculously low prices, and the upper management of Gox. The company itself? Unless they can sell it to somebody who can restore it's rep, they're done. They don't have the FDIC or similar "safety nets" to get a tax funded bailout.
2786  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: February 18, 2014, 06:03:04 AM
Everyone is forgetting the key ingredient here, this is gambling. There are a lot of people out there that will try and play the odds on the chance they'll get that big payout. You'll never get everyone to stop buying pre-orders because of this and thus the cycle will continue.

Not everyone. It's why I haven't really chimed in on that. I think pre-orders have run their course as far as utility to the miner goes, but for the companies?

Even if they are totally honest and transparent, it's still a risk free environment for them. They get start up funds without paying interest or dividends, and they can screw up royally (without intent) and suffer little to no penalty.

Then there are the straight up scams.

I will not pre-order unless the company is already producing and it's simply an "assemble on demand" sort of pre-order where the wait time is known and enforceable. And I'm a gambler!

If you haven't already done so, you should inform Organofcorti of your new pool for his list.

That being said, is there public access to the stats? I'll likely sign up, but I wanna have a look see first.

First units ship out on Wednesday guys. We'll make a video of the miner as well and list all details.

The rackmount case option is available: we're going with a Norico model and have purchased about 50 so far for clients those that would like to switch from the standard desktop to the rackmount option can do so by writting to sales@advancedminers, state your order number and the fact that you'd like to switch from desktop to rackmount. Both the desktop and rackmount cases allow for an additional two hashing modules (240Ghs each), there is not difference in assembly time or lead time, we're just trying to please the more technical side of the community a bit. We're also trying  to offer further upgrades in the future if we can get this model's board down to 3.5inch size which we're working on.

We're also launching limited sales for a 2.4Th/s (100 units total) (April 1st delivery guaranteed ) and 3.0Th/s (50 units Total) (April 15th delivery guaranteed ). We'll update the site shortly but our main goal in the moment is to assemble and ship these 1.2's and get them out the door and reviewed by the community. Sales for both of these lots will be open for a limited time.

production video and First shipments out the door on Wednesday boys.

Thanks for sticking with us and supporting us thus far.

what is the deal amt? why do you not answer my question?

you told me my miner (order 610) would ship this week and you have asked me nothing in regards to what type of case i would like. when do you plan on asking folks this? better yet has anyone been asked what type of case they would prefer?

seriously? does $6000 not even purchase a response?

The question is what is the % of mentions positive vs. negative?  I'd say the vast majority are negative ($ laundering, drug sales etc.)

I'm with Phinneas Taylor Barnum on this one. Especially in the early stages. There is no such thing as negative publicity.

thanks

I miss the ignore button also Grin
Papamoi is famous with first "open source ASIC chip" and a lot more funny things. Do not waste your time to follow his posts. But in case you want some fun I strongly advise you to follow mines
Best

I find good data from both of you. And you're both irritating. Such is the way of things, I guess. I only have one guy on ignore on this whole forum.

On topic, this is very interesting. If y'all are real, you'll give Bitmain some serious competition. Best of luck!

How do you mine these?  Does it produce heat, or can you mine in your bedroom?

I read up on them that they can turn into something which produces a good hash rate but they require a lot of maintenance and sleepless nights.

What he said! It's five am and she finally went down.... I think.
Dunno about that good hashrate. Lots of logic errors. OTOH, can arrive at random conclusions better than any machine ever will, so...

Investment of time and it should return good results  Wink you are going to have a few difficult weeks first of all I feel for you.

She's my second, but I was seven years younger last time Smiley We need a way to reverse aging, goddammit. This getting old shit just plain sucks. By the time my kids are grown, I'll be looking death in the face. I'm not cool with that.

I should talk to Aubrey deGrey about accepting bitcoin.

OK! So, as of now, Bitcoin payouts are all caught up and Namecoin payouts are all caught up.  Stats are caught up, CPPSRB is caught up.

All is well in the world of Eligius.

Resume normal operations! Cheesy

was nice while it lasted Smiley

2797  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The Bitcoin ASIC Arms Race on: February 17, 2014, 10:47:49 AM
I voted Bitmain and Bitfury.

Both have mostly delivered on time and on spec. Both work well. I think Bitmain will be top dog, as they have the most sustainable business model, but bitfury has a loyal following, me included. (My miner is bitfury based, and it works great).

I'm also doing so as kind of an act of pennance. I thought both were a scam in their early development. They turned out to be the best or close to it.
2798  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: February 17, 2014, 10:28:28 AM
So you invested in Bitmine SA? Or why do you hold a board position?

READ. He said they offered him shares as compensation. This is rather commonplace in corporate business. It's a way of insuring a level of dedication to the project, as the value of those shares is tied directly to the success of the company, thus inspiring the individual to work FOR that success.

Steve Jobs had a salary of $2.00 USD per annum at the time of his death. His compensation came from shares. Do you think he was likely to screw up the company on purpose?

I wish you would read, think and had an idea what we are talking about.

The question was related to the board position and not the shares. Employees (for the obvious reasons you stated) usually receive shares but not board seats. Investors want them and get them.

This makes a big difference, so Zefir clarified and everythings fine.

Sorry. Was in a pissy mood and took it out on you. Slap accepted in good grace Smiley

(No, I don't have a problem with him. I wasn't here for the rivalries that seemed to have colored the interaction of him and CKolivas and a few others. Probably wouldn't have been involved any way).
For what it's worth, I've always gotten on quite well with wizkid, and we've occasionally debugged stuff together.

Good to know. Like I said, I wasn't there, don't know what it was about. I like all of ya Smiley
