1361  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: September 28, 2014, 03:13:19 PM
Has anybody seen their hardware?

Aren't you guys scared that it's a ponzi?

I also have a contract with them that has returned.
Just the amount of coins mined seems fishy to me as of the way I got payed out.

Again and again the same story.... If it is ponzi why you invested here?HuhHuhHuh?
I'm not complaining, I'm just worried about my future investments being stolen. I got my return and it's still profiting. I just want to see their hardware.

In the beginning Jeremmy gave his phone number to the interested persons like you and invited them for a lunch. Try with a personal message if he do the same with you. So you can go at its city at Canada and see the farm.

But he can take pictures can't he?

They could. But without the EXIF data, everyone would complain that "anybody can 'shop a picture", and with it they're exposed.

Personally, at this point I think they've become big enough that it should no longer be an issue to just be public, but they feel otherwise. In private, they satsified me that they were indeed real. But I can't prove it to you guys, and won't try. I've been in profit for some time now, and I still think they're on the up and up. But it is troublesome that they keep secret. While I understand their motives (they had problems with breakins and personal threats early on) I believe at this point they could hire adequate security.

Ah well. They said at some point they would take it all in the open, and my opinion on when that point is likely has no effect on their opinion.
1362  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate islam? on: September 28, 2014, 02:47:37 PM
That's what I don't understand in this World. Why people is so mentally lazy? If it comes for me to be just listening to some cherry-picked entries of the Bible instead of take a look at it myself I would still be calling myself Catholic. Just yesterday I was reading the story of that Danish ex-Jihadist and goes around the same. Ignorance seams to be a religion-wide issue!

I know I shouldn't bother with it, let they call themselves whatever they want. The problem is that once convinced by some cherry-picked entries people assume the whole package as "good" and get directed like sheep towards violence, attempts to control everyone's private life because "God wants" and all forms of barbaric practices thereafter.

Is it too much to ask everyone to simply take a couple of hours and READ what their religions actually say? What are they about? Asking them to trust no one, not their priest, not their imam, not me, and read by themselves? A couple of hours that may save them from a lifetime of ignorance?
Maybe it is...

Exactly! I was once a Christian of the worst sort. Jehovah's Witness. I have read the bible many times, and it is NOT a good book.

No Christian church actually follows the bible, or the streets would run with blood. This is a good thing, but the fact of it is disturbing because they CLAIM the bible is their moral authority.

And always, if you point out that they are cherry picking, they have some big problem with it. Why? There is wisdom in ancient writings. You SHOULD cherry pick. My personal philosophy probably derives from over a thousand different old and new books, as well as my own perspective over nearly half a century of life. Damn straight I cherry pick. That's what intelligence is FOR. Pick what works, discard what don't.

If the religious all did this, the world would quickly be a better place, but it would break the back of organized religion. All of it.
1363  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate islam? on: September 28, 2014, 02:41:35 PM
The reason religions preach in mass numbers is because there trying to save those people in there perspective. so there trying to be nice not hateful so if you have a Jehovah's witness come to your house educate yourself before you slam the door on them like the asshole you probably are.

Now, there is a religion I truly, actively hate. I was raised in that cult, and my single largest regret in life is that I was EVER one of them.

But at least they're non violent, in the physical sense. Out to destroy your life, but not violent.
1364  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate islam? on: September 27, 2014, 06:37:18 PM
Slave trade is highly contested in the NT and compared in the same line as other "sins". Ok, labor conditions at the time makes it hard to distinguish slaves and servants, still your quotes makes clear the thin border, NT forbids its followers from provide sex to their boss, something a slave can't. The slave was full property of his owner and must provide whatever he wants.

True enough, but also not relevant to my point, which is that Christianity did not forbid slavery. Later, the Christian churches evolved and have since (to their credit) condemned the practice, but that is NOT a biblical doctrine.

I've said many times that most people are good despite their religion, and I stand by that. Religions disprove their divine inspiration by the very fact that they DO evolve.

I got into this cuz the OP caught my eye. I have no particular hatred for Islam, I hate religion in general for the evil it has fostered. Most of the adherents are decent enough people. The radicals who use religion to justify their actions would have another cause or no cause if they didn't have that one. Bad people do bad things. But religion does and has encouraged good people to do bad things. And it sometimes works, because the true believer is going to feel guilt for holding back their hand from an evil act if they think their gods command it.

Totally agree with it. I feel bad in defend any, my aim is to avoid the usual "this calls for that but the other also does this". So what?! One violent retard doesn't excuse another violent retard.
BlackHawk then get to know Islam...

Aye. the logical fallacy you reference is "tu qoque" Or "you too" which attempts to justify or deflect by saying, well , you do shit too...

Kind of what I was trying to do here, in fact, was to point out that ALL organized religions do bad shit. I am of the opinion that we could, societally, take the good from all religions and distill it into a basic set of guidelines, dispense with the rest, and be better off.

Those guidelines could be more complex than this, but Bill and Ted's motto is frankly the basis of civil society. "Be excellent to one another". Anything beyond that is details, and anything detracting from that should be discarded as irrelevant and harmful. In my arrogant opinion.

when staking will be paid?..
how if i never open my wallet,..is staking still work?

Think of staking as a possibility to make your computer a super flexible miner you can upgrade not by buying an additional hardware, but by buying or minting more coins. Staking is a process of finding a hash (just like with the Bitcoin mining), but apart from the target there is an another operand to compare hashes with, the block weight, which comes from the multiplication of the block age and size. The more weight your block has, the more chances exist that a hash will be found. When you don’t open a wallet, your blocks accumulate weight, but the process of hashing isn’t active, just like with a miner turned off. If your wallet is open, when a block reaches the min age of 8.8 days, the process of minting begins. When a correct hash is found, you get a reward, just like with Bitcoin. You can open your wallet from time to time after 8.8 days of block maturity, but it's better to keep it open 24/7, if you have mature blocks.

Here is a more detailed article about PoS.

about staking coin,..is this will be paid automatically in my wallet?

I once flew a Mig-17 Cheesy

At any rate, to answer your question, yes. It will stake, which will show in your wallet, and once it is accepted by the network and confirms a certain number of times (can't recall, but it's probably in the OP) it will appear in your wallet as a mined transaction. It will split into two roughly equal blocks that are the original amount plus the newly minted coins.

Is this your first Proof of Stake coin? If so, you made a good choice of entry point. HYP has few if any problems in it's function, and a very good developer.
1366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin Mandatory Update! High % variable rate SuperStake in 30+ days on: September 27, 2014, 04:48:45 PM
i just minted a block, 20% pos diff looks like .00098, not 40% but less mintage is likely to pull off some of the pressure on the sell side of the market and allow price to rise.

dun thinks so ppl will just dump what they stake to switch for hyp since perceent is same now .only hyp is nine days not 30

I"m very much into both coins. Each has different character and strength. TEK is a hybrid, and HYP is not, so I think that Tek will continue to perform well even while the bumps get sorted on the PoS side. Because it is still a viable currency even if the PoS side of the chain gets frozen. We saw that with the recent problems. Up until the hard fork (where thngs got screwy for a few days), Tek was still tradeable without issue because the PoW side of the chain had no issues.

HYP on the other hand is fubar if the chain freezes. Not that I think that likely, since presstab loves his child, but it does present the difference in the scenarios. Both coins are very cool, and I will continue to support both.

I do think that the POS payout problems need to be fixed to where it used to be again. Or at least close. And it's being looked into. What we don't want, and I think in this I can speak for everyone pretty safely, is another debacle like the last fork. While it got resolved quickly, it did NOT work well out of the gate. I heard a figure of like 40+ chains for a day or two Tongue

So for now, it works, just a bit unstable. I figure that Thundertoe and friends should take their time, get it solid, test it for a good while, and THEN fork it. In the meantime, the slowdown in POS makes the coin potentially more valuable as it is more rare. It also extends the time where inflation will become an issue. I consider it growing pains. TEK has always been kind of a low profile coin, and yet it has stood the test of time. It's still here, it's still actively traded, and it's price is pretty decent.

Right now, I'd be more worried about merchant adoption and other things that would break it away from being just a trade coin. Then, once the technical issues are worked through, it will be significantly more valuable.
1367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TRDR] Trader Coin - Decentralized - Profit Share program First payout 9/10 on: September 27, 2014, 04:39:16 PM
We need another Tom14Cat14 to take over this coin. Firecoin was a P&D and it got somewhere.  Wink

see my previous post. The coin works fine. What it needs is adoption. For that to happen, people need to STOP looking for another tomcat, satoshi, whatever. If the thing works as intended, why not just USE it?
1368  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: September 27, 2014, 04:23:19 PM

Not sure.

They allowed it in the past, but there were problems.

Almost back in the game Cheesy I have a block that should stake at any time, and it will likely exceed the subsidy block. Probably because it was mature the day I went on the road and I just got the wallet open today, three weeks later Cheesy

I am curious to see how that plays out. the block is 1600 HYP, the original recommended size, but with what I'm seeing here in the thread, smaller blocks might actually be better?

At any rate, glad things are still working well, and the new wallet is very nice.
1371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][ZS] Zer0stake-Info coming soon on: September 27, 2014, 04:07:44 PM
As I posted in the other thread, I had a lot go wrong in my personal situation, so I've not been able to do jack. Just got caught up, and I'll be more active after the 30th when my internet gets hooked up. Right now I'm relying on McDonalds wifi Cheesy

Anyway, on the idea of switching back to pure Proof of Work... Interesting, to say the least. If you do that, I would recommend using one of the newer algos, like X11 or something that has the potential to be CPU mined, so more people have a shot at it. I know it was originally SHA (I mined it from the launch) but if we want newer people, ASIC's are probably not the best answer at this time.

I actually favor hybrid PoW, PoS like TEK and HBN. Fairly low block reward and fairly high POS, it keeps the chain moving even when staking is low, and gets a wider base of interest.

Anyway, at the moment I have little time, but I will be again very active starting on or about september 30th. Glad to see it still happening.

looks good! those donations are coming in great! hope to see more from the community Smiley

As for the new thread, uki and I had a conversation in IRC about what we should do next. Both of us agree that at least getting a [pre-ann] up would be good. So we did... Also registered the name Zer0foundation here on BTT.

here's the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=775808.0;topicseen

nothing posted there but this will be the new thread for ZS once we get more info on the fork out. Uki and I would like to mull over a few things with icecube, biomech, and bluewackadoo, chicken, when you guys get a chance. We need to cover some things regarding the fork, bounties, and  dev situation to release the new OP. I don't mind writing up the OP once I get the information all ironed out. Smiley

I know my time schedule doesn't correlate to many of yours, so its hard for me to be in IRC when you guys are. fortunately I experienced the last long week of work for a month or so. hopefully starting this week that will give me more time here to get stuff going.

as for issues at hand.

Fork-icecube are you still willing to provide this service? If so, whats your idea's/plan for it?

also one thing we mulled over is a small premine for the foundation, to cover bounties, dev, and pay for hosting. thoughts? I know we briefly covered this before but want to get everyone's thoughts on it. Is there a ZS development fund we can fork to the foundation fund?

I will be reporting in on or about the 30th. A lot of things went wrong for me all at once. Getting it back on track, and that's the day I get internet hooked up. Right now, I'm depending on public wifi, and I have a lot of catch up to do on a lot of things. Sorry for the longer than anticipated absence, but I was literally on the road with my family until 5 days ago.

And here we go again with the attempt to make Islam somewhat right because Christianity did this or that.
Let's put this straight: Christianity did NOTHING. Europeans did. Europeans are extremely organized and when aim at some goal go for it in industrial scale.
Islam supports slavery, Christianity doesn't. However in only 3 centuries Europeans got way more slaves than the Muslims in their 14 centuries of slavery.
Islam calls for the extermination of Jews, however Europeans just in 5 years of nazism killed more Jews than all of the Muslim attempts to terminate them combined.

Show me some place where Christianity, in it's doctrine, does not support slavery? Hell, I'll go look up some scriptures.

Quote
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ. -Ephesians 6:5

Quote
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. - 1 Peter 2:18
Quote
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God. -Colossians 3:22

There are many more, and I deliberately omitted any in the "old" testament, as Christians tend to try to wiggle out from under that , even if the Gospels and Apostles did say that not one letter of the law would pass away.

Servants and Slaves are different things. A servant was the equivalent to an employee.

In modern parlance this is true. Most translations actually use the term slave, I just grabbed an easy to read one. This is slavery. In the english translations of the bible manservant and maidservant are often used, and they are specifically defined as property, subject to being freed on the Jubilee if they are Hebrew or permanent property unless manumitted if not Hebrew.

I also just grabbed a small sample. There is nothing in the Christian scriptures that is opposed to slavery, and the OT defines it in detail. That definition is based on the Code of Hammurabi, and that appears to be based on an even older set of laws.

Noise23,
As Trucks are the theme of TRK, here are some ideas for a future wallet design when the time is right. If you like the ideas then I will try and
get some pro bono from one of my graphic designers and whip up some images to view.
-----------------------
'Send coins' would become SHIPPING (truck image pulling away from dock)
'Receive coins' would be RECEIVING (truck image backing into dock)
'Balance' would be TRUCKS
'Staking' would be TRUCKIN or TRUCKING
'Unconfirmed' NOT DOCKED YET
'Overview' MANIFEST (as in shippers manifest)
'Address book' GPS locations
'Transactions' INVENTORY IN-OUT-

Owner of TruckCoins would be Truckers
'KEEP ON TRUCKIN' i.e. keep on staking . i think will become the default motto for TRK

AS always, community please feel free to make suggestions, additions, or changes.

'Unconfirmed' ON THE ROAD / IN TRANSIT

Sluppy, excellent, I like it. Maybe even more succinct could be: ON ROAD/IN TRANSIT

In this vein, how about "Tracking Number" for TXID?

have been try for 2 days but the 199 tek wont stake !
is there a min amount required??

No, there isn't. I've staked on a fraction of a coin. But sometimes it takes several days once mature.

Religion:

/rɪˈlɪdʒ(ə)n/

noun

the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.

Atheist:

/eɪθɪɪst/

noun

a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods.

Yep.

Does not negate my statement in any way. In the case of Marxism, the superhuman controlling power is the "hive" or collective, which is able, according to their doctrine, to figure out and provide for all the needs and wants of those within the hive. Democracy, posits society as the superhuman force.

You left out the roots of the word, as well. The root meaning is to bind oneself to a creed or philosophy. In a purely personal sense, so long as it doesn't violate others, religion can be a very useful thing. But when it becomes organized and enforced, it becomes more evil than can be tolerated. Thus, eventually, it falls in on itself. Some faster than others. Christianity and Islam have lasted a rather long time, and both have primarily ruled by fear. No different from any other central authority, with one glaring exception to the "godless" religions: A statement that they are divinely inspired by a being of ultimate authority who must not be questioned. Once people are convinced of that particular load of tripe, they may be made to do ANYTHING with a relatively clean conscience, as it's the "will of god".

.....
Actually, that would be Christianity.

Don't forget the near extermination of the Natives, the Crusades, the Inquisitions, the mass burning of libraries, books, atheists, and "blasphemous" churches
You've really made a lot of pretty wild statements.  Maybe you should substantiate those with some actual facts?  Just tossing around phrases does not support an argument.

Psalms 137:9 - "Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks"
Real life - "[The Spaniards] took [Native] babies from their mothers' breasts, grabbing them by their feet and smashing their heads against rocks."

The rest is all common knowledge.
The assertion you made was as follows:

Assertion by other party:
This is true. Islam is by far the most violent religion that the world has ever experienced. Even their teachings advocate violence while other religions preach peach and understanding of others

Your response:
Actually, that would be Christianity.

Don't forget the near extermination of the Natives, the Crusades, the Inquisitions, the mass burning of libraries, books, atheists, and "blasphemous" churches

Anecdotal evidence does not prove, or even buttress, your assertion.

No other religion comes close to a 100 million people genocide
Well, that's what I was asking.  Is that number accurate?  Reference?  No other religion comes close?  How do you know that?

We'll exclude the Religion of Karl Marx from consideration here.

Why? Because it's godless? It's still as much a religion as Islam or Catholocism. Particularly after being implemented by Lenin and Stalin...

Thundertoe has a hard time getting people to compile the windows wallets, and both of the current ones were compiled by volunteers. Again, both known to me. Presstab, while an excitable guy, is beyond reproach. Argakiig is also a good guy. I'm as certain as I can be that they would not put anything deliberately malicious in the code. But as you noted, you don't personally know me, and that's simply not good enough. Which is why I want to learn how to compile windows wallets and post up a guide for it. If you compile it yourself, you KNOW what's in it. It's not as convenient, but it's safer. And I'm starting to ramble, so I'll hang it up here.

Biomech, your posts are always an inspiration. In fact, your posts are what drew me to TEK in the first place. In that vein - would you consider posting a BTC addy that people can donate to if they want, for the purpose of funding compiles (and perhaps related Dev work). A TEK addy would not work under the present circumstances because some of us cannot use our TEK wallets. I will be glad to donate something if it would help break the present stalemate. I hope that you might either act to hold funds in escrow and farm out the tasks or do them yourself if the compensation donations make it viable - earn while you learn.      Wink

I can't give you a solid answer right now, due to other obligations. But I will strongly consider this, and talk it over with you and other community members sometime early next week. Right now I'm against a deadline in my job, and simply don't have time. But that's short term, and I've been a TEK head almost since it began, though I made a lot of mistakes early on Tongue

If I do it, it will be a completely separate wallet, with a pretty serious plan behind it. I don't want to start something I can't finish and leave myself and looking foolish and cost money for others.

Thanks for the kind words. You're a pretty harsh critic, so that means a lot to me.
1380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TRDR] Trader Coin - Decentralized - Profit Share program First payout 9/10 on: September 26, 2014, 01:27:27 PM
Damn, that ended quickly. My enforced vacation made me miss the action. I mined a bit, and I guess I'll hold on and see what happens. I actually was hoping to get more active in this coin, I just didn't have time.

I'd like y'all to reflect on a couple things. Tom's experiment is not proof, because the sample is too small, but it's in aggregate with a lot of other coins very good evidence that a bunch of the people in Crypto are failing to understand what "decentralized" really means. I've seen it with a number of coins. The investors are quite willing to make a profit, or even just accumulate some coins, but they want the development team to do EVERYTHING that boosts the coin.

While a strong team is certainly a desirable feature, the coin itself should NOT depend on the dev team. Right now I can think of just one coin who's users have for the most part given up the tit and started using the coin as currency. Bitcoin. Satoshi developed it to a point, the people he recruited and attracted developed it a bit further, but MOST of the adoption and market innovations have come from the users.

Alts, on the other hand, have yet to stand on their own, even though MOST have more going for them technically than bitcoin. Faster transactions, lower value due to higher amounts of coins, proof of stake in many cases, a great many cool features. And yet they do not take off.

Why? Because most of you are waiting for your Messiah.

Guess what?

THERE IS NO MESSIAH!

Take a look at the guy in the mirror and ask him or her WHY your favorite coin is going nowhere or just making a small move here and there. Ask WHY it's not at a market place attracting goods and services.

Then do something about it.

I am not preaching without acting. I'm involved in a company that intends to absolutely revolutionize crypto trading, and I have side projects that will use a few coins as their exclusive payment option. These are long term plans, as I'm just one guy. But if each and every one of you came up with JUST ONE service denominated in your favorite coin(s) you would see the trade volume on those coins skyrocket. It don't have to be anything crazy. Maybe you can make paper airplanes in a unique manner (yeah I pulled that out of my ass). Sell 'em. Or write a book on the subject and sell that!

Decentralized. Bottom up, not top down. Think about it. If you depend on the developers, you will be disappointed no matter the success or failure of a coin, because it will be THEIR success, THEIR glory, and THEIR coin to do with as they please.
