Hey now, nobody here thinks your stupid. You need to step up the self-confidence.
Having learning disabilities does not make you stupid.
Keep your chin up.

A very sad reality mate.

Yes, but maybe when you finish high school you might be able to get a job at Wal-Mart!
They have a program for people like you.

Oh, please, not that! Walmart has too many sub room temperature IQ's already.

Haha. I can only pity the mindless fucknuts trying to gang up on me for asking where the premine is? Do you not see how stupid you guys are being defending the devs?

The premine was supposed to be used for the EAC infrastructure not your donations. Oh well. Play stupid games and you'l win stupid prizes. Peace.

Perhaps you should learn a bit of pedantry yourself. I am a pedant, and I'm quite proud of it. Being able to parse a sentence in high english, whilst still able to use the word "fuck" creatively is an achievement.

Premine don't mean shit in the long run, even if they dump it at a high mark. If the coin goes south, it won't be because of that. This is an open source project. If you want it to go someplace, do something. Chingo de denaro, it don't mean much. If the coin gets widely adopted, sure that premine might make a decent profit for the devs. But it will be a drop in the bucket by comparison.

My last post was rather general, though I had some specific things in mind. I'm working on a sort of "white paper" that I think would fit well with Earthcoin, but is not limited to it. There are a number of things that need to happen in the world of cryptos if they are going to go mainstream. Bitcoin has the best shot by virtue of being both first and most widely adopted. Lightcoin, in my opinion, has largely run it's course.

EAC is nothing right now, but there are some outstanding ideas floating around this community, and those ideas are the capital upon which the coin will prosper or fail. NOT the premine. What will make or break this coin is it's users, and how well they promote it's general adoption. See my previous rant for more detail, as I don't feel pedantic enough to retype all of that right now.

What's the best way to go about asking for a refund from BA? I tried using their website; I posted two questions on the communication tab associated with my order and haven't heard a peep since I asked about a refund a few months ago. Should I email them directly? Contact them through Facebook? PM them here?
yes.
2664  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 27, 2014, 04:16:36 AM
opieum2: Please, do everyone a favor and STFU. We have been working to find out the truth about AMT long before you reared your ugly head. The first thing you said when you signed up was "TRUST AMT!" now you are back-peddling to garner trust.

We don't need to be here to post positive messages and offer support to AMT. They took our money, the least they could do is act like a legitimate business and provide clear updates. It's obvious they have little to no respect for their customers - and all this 'little wang china conspiracy' shit sounds like some distraction perpetrated by AMT. Anyone that believes that crap for a second needs to have their head checked. They even have a post in their NEWS section about chinese scams - around the same time little wang shows up here talking about making some sales. This is a joke.

Why tell us to expect shipments this week? Whats the point of saying "we have a video coming" when it never comes. Where are the tracking numbers? Pictures? Video? AMT has nothing to show their customers.

Each day that goes by, they delay and delay. Perhaps they have assembled the hardware and are running it themselves: though I doubt Jim/Josh are capable of even manufacturing these miners.

As far as the videos they promised you are absolutely right. They said they would post today and haven't delivered. For good measure I checked their channel. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCojFrRNI2PrePdu0jqIPmNA And it has been a couple months since the last update. I never said lets post anything positive. Just factual. I posted my experiences others posted theirs. Some were good others were unfortunately bad. The problem is that the ones with the bad experience turned and insulted anyone who posted a positive experience and called them liars. I wasnt the only one. We were "so called lurkers".

People who paid do deserve updates. There is no question to that. A quick emailed newsletter (to which I am subscribed but have not seen anything yet) The preorders are essentially the investment capital in return for a return on that initial investment. People are right to be mad. I currently am mad at BFL. Their delays and history of delays by this point is a joke. I havent had the experience with AMT yet. I tend to be pragmatic when it comes to these things. If you have been waiting since november for an order that was promised in January and you are still waiting...I REALLY feel your pain. I am there now with BFL.

The point is these guys are relatively new to the market. They registered as a corp in May announced their products in September. They seem to be legit enough to be credible. The problem is this is a very new industry. BLEEDING edge. There are alot of growing pains. This still doesn't excuse poor customer service. This doesn't excuse an update on hardware status. Their twitter feed is barren. What they REALLY need is a community manager. Someone with social networking chops. Someone who's job it is to get status updates and interface with the community. That is not sales job. They need someone who just provides the community with information on whats going on inside. Transparency does help. For my part I am just trying to be a voice of reason in all this. I really do get the frustration. I'm experiencing it myself firsthand with the other vendor.

I won't pile on like the others. I don't think you're lying, and this place is not friendly to newbies.

Your last paragraph hits it on the head. I told them that months ago. Directly, not just on the forum. Hiring that guy would have saved them ALL of this, even if they had delays that were legit. Hiding under a rock, then popping up and saying shit you can't back up? That makes them look scammy. As I said earlier, they were good to me. But I can't trust them after the last few "updates" because they have made solid statements, and then nothing. People should have their miners now. Or a VERY good reason why they don't.

That's gonna be a problem since they need to be next to a router to work, right? I'm trying to think how I can have the two machines near a router, but plugged into different circuits...

Two easy solutions come to mind. Easiest is a 50 foot Cat 5 cable, next is to link two routers via wifi.
That one requires some tweaking, but I've done it. Not a huge deal either way.

Or just use your dryer circuit Smiley Who needs dry clothes?
2666  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 27, 2014, 02:26:46 AM
Clennel sent me forwards of his emails. They didn't call him out, they misrepresented the facts. He paid late because he was given (twice) incorrect information. He paid by bank wire, after being delayed because they kept changing their minds on credit cards.

If you (Opeum) have read through this thread, you know I was quite supportive of AMT for quite a while. I can overlook amateur stunts IF they are corrected. They have not been.

I hope you're right. I hope they do get it together. And yes, you're correct about DE incorporation. Either that or Nevada, unless you just like throwing money away.

Silence is NOT golden with large amounts of money on the line. I think, with a few exceptions, that most of the people who are bitching would have shut up and been understanding if they just came clean. "We've had X problem causing a delay, we think we can get it fixed by X date", etc.

Bad communication and missed deadlines are killing this company.

The industry as a whole is doing this. The bar is awfully low. A professional outfit with in hand equipment would dominate this market, almost regardless of price.
2667  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: February 26, 2014, 09:45:12 PM
I'm aware that it's not a box, PCBs, chips all mashed together with duct tape.

I'm attempting to hunt down their vendors in order to see if they are even attempting to make production happen.

Now I don't know if they are also assembling them "in house" or if they are getting a more capable entity to do that for them. That's what I'm wondering.

It does them squat to have components and not ship, as that is a big investment of their money. At least considering that by the time I ordered they had chips in hand based on the GPS evidence.

I'm just waiting to see what comes of it all. If I get a product in the time frame I  ordered it for great but I have 1 month plus a few days in that time frame. I'll be keeping an eye here to see if anyone receives tracking numbers before I head in and check it out my self.

If I can get a bead in on any other vendors they might be using for production I'll be making similar calls.
Dude,
Hunt down their brain capacity first. This is the only thing that matters. You can not measure it by GPS, pics and shit. You are the one to judge.
Just my 2 cents Wink

I was out of the electronics loop for a long time. 20 odd years ago I could work miracles with a soldering iron. But I don't know jack about SMT and the like, so I can't judge. But Jim at AMT seems to be the right guy for that sort of thing. This isn't a defense of their business practices, just an observation. He's a bright guy, but I haven't the modern knowledge to know HOW bright. If they really are designing their own, He is who I would think is doing it.
Jim Grin You are joking right?
Any way i am not arguing with you. He is a bright guy for sure the brightest one using duck tape (my post was edited before your quote)

I hope not. Frankly I'd like to wash my hands of this whole debacle, but I'd also like to see everyone made whole.

...don't shoot, I think we all need a little humour at this juncture.

Humour, eh! Since when did a lazy redneck born and raised in the US decide to start exerting extra keystrokes to spell out non US English words?

Later, bud. BTW, just fuckin' with you, and love your recent family addition. Personally, I would have given her the middle name B. Just the letter B sans a period. Ironically, that's exactly what my daughter's middle name is--"B"--born April 1, 1979. I'd leave it to the sleuths in discovering her real first name, albeit I already penned its alternate spelling.

I didn't say I was a lazy redneck. I said I'm a redneck intellectual! Cheesy

2669  Economy / Services / Escrow service on: February 26, 2014, 08:35:22 PM
Hello Everyone.

I have decided to make myself available for escrow services. Being new to this, fees and conditions will be by negotiation. I will do this for BTC, LTC, EAC, DOGE for sure, and will consider other coins on a case by case basis.

This was prompted by a couple of gentlemen asking me to do so for them, and it just seems an interesting business. I have always been good with other people's money (long history of management in which I balanced my books to the penny).

This will evolve as we go along. Thank you for your interest.

RBE is just free market capitalism, but with votes instead of money as a demand signal.
In RBE all means of production are public property so there are no capital owners at all (in fact, entire population of the community owns equal share of the economy). Difficult to call it the capitalism!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragedy_of_the_commons

Public property is an oxymoron in all languages.

With some help I managed to get into the controller, and get ssh working. It is indeed off by default.

However, I instinctively changed the root password as soon as I got in, so I can't really help with the password hash Tongue

I uploaded the binaries of cgminer/minerd from the /www/soft directory here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7cOfhzHSYKJWWVOTF9uN0RxcHc/edit?usp=sharing maybe somebody can use those (I don't).

This is the /lib/modules dir: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7cOfhzHSYKJeGh3YUxfOHpjWDQ/edit?usp=sharing

Yes you can, if you got in. Extract the image with YOUR pw in place, upload it. Stating the obvious here, cuz people hurry, don't post the PW you use Tongue

So, how do I extract the image over ssh/scp?

I'm not real good with linux, but once you have root password, you should be able to copy the entire thing just like any other files. I was making a general statement. I'm not an expert, But there are people who read this who are.

[snip]

True to that. But i have also seen similar things where others were trying to take over and found themselves next to another captain trying to sail a ship. 2 captains won't work. And as they are not releasing the steeringwheel (the topic start of this post for example or even clarification oon the earthcoin foundation), they make it very hard to take over without building an entire new thing. Also they hold the advantage to the media because they introduced themselves as being the founders. And due to all this and vanished they are stalling any PR progress (and by the looks of it intentially even) which is hurting EarthCoin really bad. By the time they or anyone is going to be the saviour, the damage is already done. This is, in my opinion, a schoolbook example how you screw up your PR and kill your product.

You make good points. I'm not just raving, though. I'm out of time for tonight, and tired, so I'm gonna step away for a moment. But I have some thoughts on how this brand can be made to stand out.

The name itself is a good start. In that, if nothing else, the devs gifted this coin.

I'll also say this: I'm not talking revolution, I'm talking parallel development. If we are using these coins, and promoting their USE, not just the brand, then the devs are irrelevant. They can help, but they really can't harm. Yeah, them not finishing what they start hurts, but it's not insurmountable, and we need not take their thunder. Assuming they have thunder in reserve Smiley

I've got a busy week ahead of me, but I'm gonna try to write up some stuff and organize it into a decent post or series of posts that might be of use.

Ok.

I've watched this coin since a couple days before it launched. I've watched the devs talk a great game and gather a pretty hellacious community. I've watched the whole debacle. So now I'm gonna tell the lot of you what I see, offer some opinions, and duck.

First off, I have to say I have nothing invested in this coin other than time and interest. I'm not a day trader, I don't know how to be. I'd actually enjoy that game, but I haven't yet done it. That being said, I understand a couple of things about day trading, and I think I can offer some words that'll piss off everybody. This is good. If you're pissed, you're at least thinking.

One. Daytraders will not IN THEMSELVES kill a coin. In fact, in the early days they probably make the coin. They follow the wild swings and get caught up in the game and do a lot of shit that is apparently detrimental. It's not. If the coin is moving at volume, just like any sort of security, it's growing. It's value may not be, yet, but it is. The day traders are one group of the good guys. Those who jump them for their wild speculations and "gambling" are frankly doing themselves and the traders a disservice. Let them play their game.

Two. Multipools.

Fuck 'em. They only will hurt the coin IF it has nothing going for it BUT day trading. Those of you trying to develop actual markets are the next group of good guys. If this is going to be what it's promise was, then YOU are the next phase. You are out there opening store fronts, getting the word out and trying to make this coin something with real world value. This is cool, and MOST coins DO NOT have that element. BUT, y'all tend to snipe at the traders. Don't. They are doing their part, and you are doing yours. Multipools won't kill your coin, and may even spike interest in it from time to time. What will kill it, if anything, is not building this wide infrastructure.

Three. "The devs gotta get off the pot".

No, they don't. They should, they ought to, and they have a moral obligation to, but they are completely fucking irrelevant to the coin's success or failure. The community they gathered can and should view them as just another group. This coin, like most, is open source and community owned. Even with the premine, it's open to anyone capable of mining it or buying it on an exchange. Or selling goods and services for it.

Cryptozark seems like the prime mover these days. Wes seems largely caught in the middle. It don't matter. It's guys like Earhazaar and ATXsilver who will move this coin to the next level. Being traded on Cryptsy is cool in the short term. Being traded for real world goods and services is PRICELESS. Bitcoin wouldn't work if you couldn't buy shit with it. If it just traded on exchanges, it would have died already. Forex and commodity trading are quite valid markets, but without a wide dispersion OUTSIDE that paradigm, the coin is worthless.

It's speed and, frankly, it's cool name will take it far, IF y'all quit giving a shit about the devs. Hopefully, they step up. You DO NOT need them. Think about it. Does Bitcoin need Satoshi? We better hope not, he's been gone for years.

And lastly, Charities. There were several (0ne of whom I got in a fight with early on) who raised a big bitch about the coin coming to represent charitable giving. Those of you who stand against that are just plain wrong. There are a whole lot of people who WANT to help other people, and if this coin gets to be the "go to" cryptocurrency for charities, guess what? You just got yourself access to some of the largest pools of wealth on planet earth. Think, all of you in all the warring camps, of what entry into that market really means. The largest aggregators of charities on the planet, to my knowledge, are the various religious societies of the Catholic church. I am an atheist, and I see the value in this. They work all over the world to help people in need, and they NEED a good way of transmitting money 'round the world. They have sniffed around Bitcoin, but it's a much more commercial coin. Positioning a coin to facilitate transfer of funds to the third world is fucking LUCRATIVE. Instead of condemning this, you should be embracing it. There is money exchanged all down the line for charitable giving, and in the arena of cryptocurrency, there is an advantage that you can and SHOULD promote. Charities working in the developing nations FREQUENTLy have problems with local governments, using the word loosely, taking their money before they even see it. Think those warlords can take a brain wallet?

All of these are the things to consider. The day traders are likely to only see this coin as another avenue of trade. It's what they do. No harm there, and their ravings are entertaining. But the wider community has a lot of work to do.

I like this coin. I would like to get involved in it. But if y'all are waiting for leaders, you have failed. Not only have you failed earthcoin, you've failed yourself. You want a leader? Go look in the mirror. If that son of a bitch can't lead you, neither can anyone else.

Biomech, you are right about all of these things if they are done properly. What, in my opinion, is a major problem is that the branding is unfinished. It is rushed as the developers themselves admitted and as the devs don't show anymore, locked away from those willing to pick up. So in my opinion they started something and dropped it half way to completion, put it behind a glass wall and are now hoping something good will come out of that. And this will be a problem for this coin for a long time.

Glass doesn't hold up well against direct pressure. Break the glass. If they won't finish the branding, there is nothing stopping the rest of us from doing so. They hold no intellectual property at all. This isn't fiat. There is no central bank.

I think earthcoin should do a hard fork into Adaptive N-factor Scrypt ASAP. Scrypt ASIC's have begun and doing it early into a coins life would be much better.

Not to mention it will probably bring alot of interest back into earthcoin.

I strongly disagree. ASIC's didn't kill bitcoin, they made it impregnable. Try mounting a 51 percent attack on it now. If Earthcoin is threatened by asics, then it's base isn't broad enough. Miners will not pursue a small coin for long if it's not going big.

As for the duct tape...

I'm a redneck intellectual. Don't be disrespecting duct tape! There are three essential items in every tool box. Duct tape, WD-40, and JB weld.

If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape.
If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40.
If it moves, shouldn't, and needs to be solid, use JBWeld!

...don't shoot, I think we all need a little humour at this juncture.
