661  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★ [GMC] GameCredits - MANDATORY UPDATE • A Multi-Platform Gaming Currency [GMC]★ on: June 29, 2015, 09:18:20 PM

unfortunately, that's the original repo. We don't have access to it, and rather sporadic contact with one of the devs. I'll try to get them to point it towards the newest repo, which is here:

https://github.com/gamecredits-project/GameCredits

Sorry about the confusion.

...

ok... but now i have a new error....

i use CentOS and the makefile.unix is missing.

and with autogen.sh and configure i become the error
Code:
configure: error: libdb_cxx headers missing

But i have it on my system.
Code:
locate libdb_cxx
/usr/lib64/libdb_cxx-4.7.so
/usr/lib64/libdb_cxx.so

You need bitcoin ppa, and llibdb 4.8. Just like Bitcoin core. Wait, Centos... Not familiar, but it's RPM based, right? Not sure the procedure for adding the bitcoin version of Berkeley db to that. Anyone else can help the man out?
662  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin Hi-PoS hybrid pos/pow no premine/ipo/ico on: June 29, 2015, 08:52:05 PM
I upgraded to the latest wallet, backed up wallet.dat file synced the wallet and now all my staked coins are missing but I see the transactions greyed out. I had about 256 Tek and when I do a repair wallet it only gives me back my first two transactions that is about 32 Tek.

This is the first time I have ever lost any coins that i could not recover from my wallet.dat file using repairwallet command, I there anyway to get my staked coins back?

Thanks

check the transactions against a block explorer, make sure you weren't somehow on a fork.

If that didn't happen, you could go back to the older wallet, send everything to yourself, and then upgrade. Likely there are better ways, that's just what came immediately to mind.

addnode=37.120.160.213:40002 remove dont works... whats happend?

look at the version number. If it's older than .9.4.3, it will not connect to the current client. This is by design, as the older clients had serious problems AND the difficulty algorithm was changed from KGW to Earthcoin's algo.

If the version number is correct, then it is likely either on a corrupt chain or simply connectivity issues.

Thats from the official github page....

Code:
{
    "version" : 80905,
    "protocolversion" : 70005,
    "walletversion" : 60000,
    "balance" : 0.00000000,

    "paytxfee" : 0.00010000,

}

Which page? Since the takeover, there have been a few people working on it, and we're still consolidating. But that is two major revisions and one hard fork behind. I will get it corrected if it's on one of the pages we control, and try to if it isn't.

....
We care not whether or not the man Spendulus asked about is/was/will be imperfect. I doubt very much you will find an atheist who views perfection as a legitimate concept. The question was not whether the man was imperfect, it was simply this: Was he a muslim?

I'll add a few. Give direct answers. I was once captain of the debate team. I won't be taken in by logical fallacies, deliberate or not.

Was Khadaffi a muslim?
Was Khomeini a muslim?
Is Cat Stevens/Yusef Islam a muslim?
Was Yasser Arafat a muslim?
Are the members of the House of Saud Muslims? (and if not, why are they charged with the protection of Mecca and Medina?)

All of these men except Cat Stevens are or were involved in what the western media labels terrorism. This is not speculation. I don't feel the urge to look up and cite easily found documentation, I state it as axiomatic and proven prior to the assertion. So.

Are they or were they muslim?

Visit this site and you will able to know that muslims are terrorist or not http://www.muslimsarenotterrorists.com/.

Islam love people not hate whether he or she is muslim or not...
Muslim woman thrown off moving train in Australia, What is this Huh? Are they muslims who did this??
ISIS is not an Islamic organization...
http://www.csun.edu/~dgw61315/fallacies.html  whenever arguing in a factual situation, you should refer FIRST to this page. Most people, I recommend it as a follow up, but there has now been about five pages of a couple of you quite deliberately dodging the question. Your most current comeback embodies elements of a red herring, a strawman, and a non-sequitur. Answer the question that was asked.

Forget all these things and come to me with a debate on why people hate Islam? Which is totally wrong. Terrorist are not muslims and even they are not human. Many foreigners captured who are terrorist thats mean you are all terrorist Isn't correct??

Hey, Greg, listen.  You are debating a subject on the Internet.  You are talking with people of widely differing beliefs.

Claims are made.  Those making the claims are asked to support them.  This is a logical debate.  The essence of it was laid down by Aristotle and others.  It is not new.

Please try to answer the question posed by Biomed and myself.  I understand that your doing so may show a logical contradiction with prior assertions.  But that is what we're trying to understand, how these concepts exist in peoples' minds and in reality.

I totally agreed with you. We all have different beliefs but the thing is you all blame Muslims that all terrorists are Muslims which is not accepted for me. I am here to defend Muslims. and i appreciate your queries if you dnt have any query then you would not be able to know Islam And would not be able to know what is right and what is wrong.

You have (bolded) an incorrect premise, really just a ad hominem attack, followed by illogical thinking, and a wrong conclusion.

We are not discussing how illogic is okay in the defense of a religion - we are showing how it is the problem.  If you think it is the solution, and things move forward by ducking and dodging the substantive issues, that is propaganda.  Many are engaged in such things.  But that is not "defending Muslims."  Rather it is showing weakness and advocating poor logic and decision making.

No no no !! you are wrong again here, we are discussing their why people hate Islam Correct?? now come to the point ?

On the contrary, this is quite on point, as a number of you have stated that these acts are not carried out nor supported by "real" muslims. We, on the other hand, have responded asking clarification of a rather key point. Those people listed all claim to be muslims. Many are well respected in Islamic circles. Of the ones I listed, I personally think that at least three of them were trying to do right by their people, whether or not I agree with their methods. However, I have also stated on numerous occasions that I have no particular hatred of Islam, but that it is a widespread opinion. To actually answer that question in any substantive manner requires information that is currently being withheld.

So, in answer to your (incorrect) objection, let me be totally clear. I do not hate Islam as such. I hate some of the acts perpetrated by those who purport to be muslims, and I have a general belief that all religion is dangerous and should be exposed as such. Not specifically yours. Throughout human history, Religion has stood opposed to humans gaining knowledge. This device which you are reading my reply on would be considered a magickal device and witchcraft within the recently ended century, and in some parts of the world that would get you killed. With every passing year, we, humans, know more about everything. this leaves less and less place for gods.

Further, from a purely logical standpoint, if, as religions assert, there were a grand creator, and this being was indeed all powerful and all knowing, and had the desire to be worshipped, there would be no possibility of mulitple religions.

Actually, I was very explicit at multiple points in this thread in saying that NOT all terrorists are Muslim. I can name a terrorist group headquartered rather close to where I live, who's members religion is irrelevant. Earth First. You're avoiding the question. I can guess why, as it would tend to cause cognitive dissonance.

Again, I point you to the link to the well established logical fallacies in formal logic and debate. The particular one you are engaging in here is a strawman. Attempting to draw me in to defending a point I did not make or divert the question by rephrasing it in a manner that is contradictory to what I had stated.

In your view, someone who claim he/she is muslim is muslim but in my view, he/she should follow the religion, not just claim it, is muslim.

Could you perhaps link to new sites which proves these incidents? Thank you!

Yes i agreed with you @Zakir i told him previously that Islam is Perfect Muslims are not.
If you want to know what is Islam then read the Life Of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

LOL, here is the problem.  On the open Internet you must deal with people from many, many diverse backgrounds and inclinations.  Circular references to truth ("It's true because Mohammed said it!"  How do you know it's true.  "The Koran says so!") are not a proof of an argument.

They are only a proof to you, of your faith.  They prove nothing to me.

But I'll certainly agree with both you and Zakir that you've got a lot of imperfect Muslims.

I'd like to add to this.

The specific logical fallacy employed here is the "appeal to authority", which is not always a logical fallacy if it can be proven that the cited authority a) is real, and b) IS an authority on the subject.

However, the Q'uran and the Christian Bible, and other holy writ appeal to gods that cannot be proven to exist, and seem rather unlikely to do so. So it is indeed a logical fallacy.

However, this particular use of logical fallacy was probably inadvertant. The one I believe both of your opponents used deliberately was the red herring. A diversionary statement unrelated or to deflect the question asked or the argument made.

so, I'm going reiterate it. We care not whether or not the man Spendulus asked about is/was/will be imperfect. I doubt very much you will find an atheist who views perfection as a legitimate concept. The question was not whether the man was imperfect, it was simply this: Was he a muslim?

676  Other / Politics & Society / Re: another cop video on: June 27, 2015, 05:48:03 PM
To be honest and honest, this is purely a communication gap, at first that guy who is driving the taxi seems like a Pakistani or Indian (no idea but certainly from an Asian countries), the driver gestures drove that officer crazy, the driver every time spelling that OK OK OK, come on dude, let the officer finish what he wants to convey and then say alright at the end of the conversation.

If this were an isolated incident, you'd have a point. If it weren't in New York, the most international of American cities, you'd have a point. But neither is true. This is how American cops ARE. He wasn't even extreme. He just got caught.
677  Other / Politics & Society / Re: another cop video on: June 27, 2015, 04:59:27 PM

OMG!
This is not the way things are supposed to be handled by a police officer..That cab driver was behaving so politely...
Officer is, to be put in plain manner, a bully...
Police are for the people... this is not the way it is supposed to be done... nope... can't be accepted

Therein lies the crux of the problem. That idea has been very successfully sold. Cops are NOT for the people. While a few of them may INTEND to do good for the people, it is the government that they serve and protect. As early as 1867 the Supreme Court of the United States held that the police have NO duty to protect or respond to the citizens. Given that Police forces were first in the United states just five years prior to that, it's pretty well established (though downplayed) who they actually serve.

emphasis added

Do you have a cite for the 1867 Supreme Court case? I have searched for it and cannot find what this is referring to.

I may have been misinformed on this one. I can't seem to find it now, either. Earliest cases I am currently finding are in the early 1960's, and there have been a number of them, both in the supreme and lower courts, all with the same ruling: Police have NO duty to protect or even respond to individuals. I'm gonna keep looking, I know there was such cases in the mid 19th century, but it may not have been the Supreme Court.

It remains true that the subjects of the empire are NOT whom the cops protect and serve.

I think they hate it, because the most (not all) terrorists attacks with dozens of deads where muslims.

But i dont think that a lot of people hate the islam or muslims, but that muslims people perceive it so.
Because when a terrorist attack happend (with muslims), all news stations show it about days.

How you can say that they all are muslims  or most of them are muslims....
Let me clear you......Terrorists have no religion....

And if i say all terrorists belongs to your religion...?? Then what is your thinking..?

Isn't strange??

This site didnt worjk...??

Give a link again....?

This site is not working and Muslims are not terrorists dear....these all are just terrorist ...they have no religion...

Link works just fine on three devices over two networks.

Terrorism is a term that is overused and has come to mean whatever the speaker wants it to mean. I prefer the term guerilla or 4th generation warfare, as they are more accurate. But the first "official" definition I heard is using violence at a low level to make people afraid and to destabilize an existing government by making people doubt and lose faith in their government.

In the modern world, the term is overused, as I noted. But the above does work in this. And whether or not a Terrorist claims Allah, Jehovah, The Trees, or anything they choose, it means little. That being said, at this time in history, the guerillas doing the most harm in the most places claim Allah as their inspiration. Further, well respected Islamic scholars and leaders OPENLY praise them for this behaviour. Saying that this does not happen actually lends less credibility to the argument of sectarianism or "not true Muslims" that keeps being bandied about.

there is a long standing trope that more men have died in the name of god(s) than any other cause. I don't think this is true, but the body count for the major religions is HUGE.

Please note, that while this thread deals primarily with Islam, I, Personally, am an atheist, and have more of a fight with Christianity, as it was the background of MY youth, and my own problems. I have known a great many muslims in my life, and just like Christians, most of them were decent people, in spite of their religion.

But I should like you to think of something. Look to your scriptures, as I have to the Bible. I think you will find that the so-called "extremist", be they Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Democrat, Republican, or whatever, are the ones who most closely adhere to the actual words and precepts of the religion. It's certainly true of Christianity, and unless every single scholar who has attempted translation of the Q'uran was an idiot, it holds true of Islam as well.
