India who has biggest league for men has no money to start women IPl. Indian players are not allowed to play in any Premier league while women players are asked to play foreign leagues to get necessary experience. Till the time boards start taking women cricket seriously there is little scope for women cricket.
Really feeling shame for them as these women's are doing amazing job in last few years but sadly no positive things happening for them in their own country where BCCI is having world's most prestigious franchise league and having the biggest profit in sports industry around the world really sick mind peoples are these who doing things like this because they can manage this easily even having some lost which is affordable for them because they are fearing few things are going to be not good for them, but they have to start as this could be good and positive if they look into long run.

Australia and England doing good job even they are having small market instead of India, and they are having nothing positive just because of their poor tactics which are surely not going to help them if they are not going to work in this way as well.
That was indeed the case before but

For good reasons BCCI has changed its mindset and now trying to set up WIPL too, we were discussing this couple of months back when they made a new announcement regarding WIPL.

BCCI seems to have a change of heart nowadays, first handing over incentives to ground staff and now news coming out that they are actively working towards Women IPL. They are in talks with other cricket boards and ICC for separate window for WIPL.

Key points:
- 6 teams
- Existing IPL franchise already showing some interest (KKR, RR and CSK)
- Suitable window -March- just before the Men's IPL.

Lol

I do agree that this Australian is not strong as their previous teams but you are going a bit off road. ATM they are the number 1 team in Tests and they also won the last T-20 WC.

Their White ball ranking might look bad on the points table (mainly because they hardly give any importance to white ball bilateral)  but they are a big team in white ball cricket when it comes to ICC tournaments.

Australia is still one of the favorites and I am confident this team will perform differently when they will be playing on their home grounds. It is also not easy to predict a T20 tournament. Who thought that Srilanka would win the Asia cup? Every team preforms completely unexpected when they are playing a T20 tournament.
Home ground or not, Aussies are always good in ICC tournaments.

Sri Lanka tasted a new success after a long time, actually they performed better in the last 2-3 months, so they are in good form.

South Africa is also upping their game. England and Australia are already terrific sides. Pakistan can surprise anyone. India is a big team but in ICC tournaments they are choking since 2013-14. Then we have Kiwis and Windies. Safe to say that this T-20 WC is going to be a belter.

So, I was looking at the stats between Australia and South Africa test matches and I found Australia has a good upper edge against South Africa. It would not be easy for the SA team since they will be playing these test matches in Australia. I have a feeling that Australia might whitewash this series.

IMO this might be not the correct interpretation as this data goes back to more than 100 years.

In the last decade or so, especially after 2008-09 tide has changed completely and it's not loop sided affair anymore.

This might clear the picture.

2124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 18, 2022, 07:46:15 AM

Don't get distracted by recent development in South African cricket. In the last 3 test series in Australia, they came as victorious every single time against an extremely strong Australian side. Actually, both sides were good and they used to put up a good show for the spectators when they visit each other for bilateral.

IMO Current sides are a pale imitation when compared to previous teams but still, we can expect a good contest

As far as I am concerned, South Africa versus Australia games are always very competitive and enjoyable to watch since both teams have a lot of experience and have faced each other enough times to know what their opponents are capable of. These two teams have played some very good cricket in this series, especially the South African team, which won the series 3-0. But I have to say that the last match was quite interesting because they won with only 9 both in hand.
Yeah, they compete and fight hard whenever they tour each other's territory. Mainly because the majority of pitches are pace friendly (except if we leave SCG alone) and they do have a pace bowling culture.

Also, their rivalry is a bit tough as they always come up with new controversies but for some weird reasons, it goes unnoticed in the cricketing world.
2125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 18, 2022, 07:13:58 AM
I think Australia is a team capable of playing in any format. They have players of all formats in their team, they just use the timing. Their style of cricket is world class. They hope to do well in the upcoming T20 World Cup. All the players in their team are very responsible.

First of all, Australia is not considered as a top-3 team in any of the formats. The current Australian team is perhaps the weakest they ever had in the history of cricket. And I am not sure which player in the current squad is capable of playing in multiple formats. Smith and Labuschagne struggle in limited overs cricket, while players such as Warner and Finch are very weak in test format. And then there are players such as Travis Head and Nathan Lyon who are not suitable for any of the formats.
Lol

I agree with the overall sentiment of smash the Batriarchy but..

This specific addition is related to team tactics and game plans and not in favor of batters per se. Teams are allowed to have any batter or bowler from the reserves if the match situation demands.
Cricket always favoured a batter more than a bowler. Now days the emphasis is to find an all rounder talent for the middle order. Most big teams have multiple all rounders in the middle or lower middle order. This occured because T20 demands such player who can both bat and bowl or who can be a wicket keeper as well as a batter. The openers still need to be batters and the rest can be all rounders. The problem is that it is very hard to find such a talent.
I guess it's a well known fact that cricket is batman's game that's why the majority of rules of ICC book strict bowlers to cross all the fine lines.

Although IMO in recent time test cricket is still very much favor the bowler, at least last decade so I don't mind if T-20 goes in favor of batters.

Finding and opting for all-rounders is a different matter imo.

I don't know why im thinking like that but my analysis says now in 2022 the cricket is just for batting line up as almost 80% of the rules goes in favor of the batsman im curios when they are going to to pick new rules for the bowling side as in the recent matches of T20 Asia cup i just came to know about the new after power play fielding rules which are a true favor of the Batsman. If there will be development in the bowling rules i think game will be more intense and exciting.

Exciting news people.

https://indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/bcci-set-to-introduce-substitute-impact-player-in-its-t20-tournaments-including-ipl-8155999/

This whole 'Impact player' stuff sounds really interesting and it looks like they borrowed this concept from the Big Bash league. I feel that this could change the T-20 format in a big way over the course of time.
Yeah, they borrowed this from the Big Bash. They call it X-Factor, there is no problem in experimenting with new things in T-20 to make the contest more interesting. Although this X-Factor/impact player isn't a very big success in BBL as teams hardly use it regularly. Let's see how it goes in Indian domestic and IPL.

It's alright happens sometimes..

Anyway In regard to your latter observation. South Africa has a habit of pulling off a strong performance in Australia every single time but this time current proteas team is new and kind of weak when compared to the previous squads but they do have fair amount of match winners (bowlers) who are capable of change the tide singlehandedly, given conditions are favorable. IMO this should be a good contest although my money would be on Aussie.
After watching their performance against England and now announcement about departure of Mark Boucher as coach after this T-20 world cup most chances I have no positive feeling about them in Australia because they can't survive against them in Australia even their bowling attack is doing good, but their batting is surely needed good improvement which is not possible in these months.

Still we can expect much better competition between these two teams because Australia is also having habit of collapses again and again which is going to be good for them but here if their batting done good job then surely this is going to be amazing stuff and with this both teams can go through into WTC final 2023.

There is no doubt that the BCCI should be very interested in the possibility of having Indian personnel in the ICC. I believe that having an Indian person as the chairman of the ICC is going to be a great opportunity for India as well. As a result, the controversy surrounding India's neutrality in all of the decisions that are being made increases. In the event that everything goes according to the way you are saying it is going to be, we are going to have a bit of a controversy ahead of the ICC in the years to come. Despite this, I don't have any problems with Ganguly, since at least he has a good understanding of the  cricket. In addition, I also cannot say that he will be neutral in any decisions that he makes as well.

My first preference will be for Shashank Manohar. When he was the ICC chairman, he made a lot of positive changes to the revenue distribution model and voting criteria. I am more or less neutral on Anurag Thakur, while negative about both Srinivasan and Pawar. I understand that the performance of Ganguly was below par as the President of the BCCI. But I am willing to put my trust on him, because I believe that out of all the Indian ex-cricketers out there, he is the one with the best administrative and management skills.
BCCI is unlikely to put forward Shashank Manohar's name. Toward the end of his last tenure, there was some tension between him and BCCI officials due to the revamping of revenue setup and now there is a narrative building that it wasn't good outcome - Hinting towards new ICC subcontinent media rights deal- This will blow back when the complete numbers are published by ICC. There is a good chance of BIG-1 setup instead of BIG-3 in the near future.

Anurag Thakur could be a good choice but I believe he's out as he's already busy with his new gig of being a sports minister.

Many test matches are scheduled from the end of November 2022 till December 2022. I was wondering why? ICC could have prepared a few test matches in the month of October.
Arey bhai kaise karwaoge test match October mein?

We have T-20 World Cup starting from 16 oct and it's almost 1 month affair. I like ICC bashing but thoda bahut maryada aur logic ka bhi dhyan rakhe lol  Grin
Fuck!! Forgot man. I was checking the time table and got inquisitive as to why ICC wants to have a lot of test match in a single month? Thanks for the reply.

IDK why Srinivasan's name is popping in this thread.

I think he's not eligible due to the Lodha committee reports and even if he forwards his name to BCCI (which is very unlikely), they can't forward his name (again, same reason Lodha committee). Also, he was removed from his last post for a reason and that's more than enough to keep him out for a lifetime.

Check this:
https://www.theweek.in/news/sports/2022/09/14/sc-ruling-on-bcci-will-srinivasan-return-ganguly-next-icc-president-questions-galore.html

Rumors are that Justice D.Y. Chandrachud has formalized a deal between the Ganguly-Shah camp and the Srinivasan-Pawar camp. As per the deal, the first cabal will get control of the BCCI and the latter will get control of the ICC. Chandrachud has allowed Ganguly and Shah to remain as BCCI officials for the next 3 years. In return he want them to support Srinivasan's nomination as the ICC chairman. There are three other people from India who are qualified for the post - Sharad Pawar, Anurag Thakur and Shashank Manohar. Pawar is not in good health, Thakur is a minister right now and Manohar is opposed by the BCCI. And that leaves the sole choice of Srinivasan (if BCCI is interested to have an Indian as the ICC chairman).
Okay, so as of now it's based on assumption only (as far as Srinivasan is concerned), right? I guess the representative will check the pros and cons of every candidate before nominating some names. So IMO it's way too early to panic.

Also, let's wait for full judgment, there is still some time left. I think a new observation during the hearing came in favor of BCCI because of the flawed Lodha committee report (Cooling off period and nomination etc) and not some deal between 2 camps.

As they settled 123 I was feeling they are going to lose this match easily but good job from Indian bowlers, and they have not allowed English women to play freely math ends in 19th over with England won by seven wickets as India won last match by eight wickets good play by both teams.
At one point I really thought that they are going to pull it off. Those 3 quick wickets really did the trick and England's batters were under pressure.

The wicket of Alice Capsey would've been icing on the cake at that time and possibly tighter contest at death overs.

^^ Australia, New Zealand and South Africa playing against any Subcontinent country in England is hardly a neutral venue as their home conditions are more or less same and favor the pacers.

It's like all these countries playing against India in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh or the subcontinent and we are calling that it's a neutral venue.

No specific name in my mind or favoritism etc just fill any post by using elections. Sachin is a terrible administrator so I don't think anyone would ever think about him, even if he was interested. Same goes for the other mafia type (politically) names you mentioned.

There might be some exceptions when we are going with an ex-player (Sanga) but there is no guarantee that an ex-player would make a worthy candidate.

I really don't want Srinivasan. Anyone else is far better. Ganguly is out of contention, since he can remain as the head of BCCI until 2025 (as per the latest court hearing). The next chairman will be in power from 1st December 2022, to 30th November 2024. So the elections need to be held before that date. There are a total of 16 votes, and 9 is needed for an outright win. Name of Sharad Pawar is being raised by some, but chances are low that he will get BCCI approval this time. Another name that is doing the rounds is that of Brijesh Patel.
IDK why Srinivasan's name is popping in this thread.

^^ If i am being honest then I would say Ganguly was much better choice back in 2018-19.

But after his recent gig, i hardly doubt if he deserves ICC President's chair, the way he managed the team or BCCI affairs in recent times, not to mention those shitty leaks. He deserves to kick out but unfortunately, it's not going to happen.

Kicked out and replaced by whom? Ex players such as Sachin and Laxman are not interested in administration. Guys like Wasim Jaffer have been accused of nepotism. Then obvious choice would be members of mafia such as Supriya Sule, Rupa Gurunath and Kalanithi Maran. Unless there is a suitable replacement, I would rather prefer Ganguly. And for the post of ICC chairman, my first preference is Kumar Sangakkara. He has hinted his interest in the past, but the issue is that the SLCB is not ready to support him.

I feel that after Mithali Raj's retirement this Indian team is on the right path with their aggressive mindset.

Don't get me wrong I like Mithali but she was an old timer and represented an old form of cricket where one just needs to dig in from one end and literally stop scoring. She saved India some times but most of her career runs came at great cost by putting pressure on other batters. Now we have at least 3-4 aggressive batter at the top, they might collapse sometime and could look stupid as well but when a couple of em clicks, they will win the match for you.

I don't like their fielding or fitness standard in general but in the last match, Radha Yadav surprised me with her fielding. She was simply amazing in the outfield.

Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami both represent the old school wing of Indian women's team. Now they are being replaced by players such as Shafali Verma and Renuka Thakur. And the improvement is noticeable. And once the WIPL gets underway, I am sure that India will dominate the women's game as well. In a few months, the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup will take place in South Africa. The performance of the Indian team in this tournament will give an idea of the improvement that has been made during the recent years.
Jhulan Goswami was a seamer and they are considered as labourers tbh, this is true for even today. These poor pacers or bowlers in general, always get the first bullet whenever their team loses the match.

So I won't criticize her much. Having said that I'm very optimistic about this Indian Women's team or the future of Women's team. They just need to crack the puzzle, named Aussie.
