I was checking the ICC fund allocation for the cycle 2015-2023. They received $2.8 billion from TV rights and sponsorship (of which $2.0 billion was from TV rights and another $700 million from sponsorship). Out of this amount, $1.774 billion was distributed for member associations. I don't know where the remaining $1 billion went. It was eaten up by the corrupt administrators, it seems. Now we need to see how much "administrative expenses" they will allot for the next cycle (2024-27). ICC fund allocation immediately needs auditing. A lot of things doesn't look right.
Obviously, a lot of things are not shaping up to look right for the ICC because they have a lot of corrupt personnel in the authorities. If the money was actually being used to improve cricket the improvement would certainly be visible. But instead, ICC reduced the funding for the associate teams. Even though the revenue is increasing day by day. Rather than ICC trying to actually give enough money to the smaller teams so that they can improve they are actually reinvesting the money from where the revenue is being generated. That is the reason why the money keeps flowing in that area.

I am still OK if they allot a lot of money to national boards such as the BCCI and the ECB (who needs them the least). But my concern is regarding the $1 billion plus that is earmarked for "administrative purposes". I am not sure how this amount is being spent. One of the reasons why the ICC is jam packed with businessmen instead of former players is that the salaries are insanely high. First and foremost, the administrative wing needs to be cut down to size. As such ICC doesn't have much relevance in today's world and there is no need for thousands of staff or to maintain posh offices in the UAE.

Lastly Srinivasan could be making a rare comeback if the court approves it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he immediately tried to get a plum post in ICC so what are your thoughts on his comeback?.

That is horrific news. I can't even imagine what will happen to the sport of cricket, if the Pawar-Srinivasan mafia comes back to power. Their previous stint was just disastrous, and they singlehandedly killed cricket outside the sub-continent with changes to revenue distribution and eligibility criteria. These two are made for each other, with the most corrupt Indian politician joining hands with the most corrupt sports administrator. I just hope that it can be avoided somehow. I would rather prefer Ganguly or Sangakkara as the next chairman.

Why would he make a comeback now? If I'm not wrong then, anyone can stop his new appointment by just filing 50rs PIL in the courts on the basis of previous judgement. Also, there is another angle of conflict of interest due to IPL.

If there are even a few brain cells left in people's heads, they are going to vote Ganguly and Sangakkara as the next chairman. I think ICC should also realize that they will be making a big mistake if they somehow appoint those unreliable Mafia gangs into power again. Cricket is already not doing very well and that is absolutely going to kill cricket. Cricket has already become something in which people just try to make money. But right now I honestly cannot say that ICC is going to take the best decision for cricket because they have not acted like a wise sports body for quite a while now.

^^ If i am being honest then I would say Ganguly was much better choice back in 2018-19.
But after his recent gig, i hardly doubt if he deserves ICC President's chair, the way he managed the team or BCCI affairs in recent times, not to mention those shitty leaks. He deserves to kick out but unfortunately, it's not going to happen.

Kicked out and replaced by whom? Ex players such as Sachin and Laxman are not interested in administration. Guys like Wasim Jaffer have been accused of nepotism. Then obvious choice would be members of mafia such as Supriya Sule, Rupa Gurunath and Kalanithi Maran. Unless there is a suitable replacement, I would rather prefer Ganguly. And for the post of ICC chairman, my first preference is Kumar Sangakkara. He has hinted his interest in the past, but the issue is that the SLCB is not ready to support him.

No specific name in my mind or favoritism etc just fill any post by using elections. Sachin is a terrible administrator so I don't think anyone would ever think about him, even if he was interested. Same goes for the other mafia type (politically) names you mentioned. There might be some exceptions when we are going with an ex-player (Sanga) but there is no guarantee that an ex-player would make a worthy candidate.

I really don't want Srinivasan. Anyone else is far better. Ganguly is out of contention, since he can remain as the head of BCCI until 2025 (as per the latest court hearing). The next chairman will be in power from 1st December 2022, to 30th November 2024. So the elections need to be held before that date. There are a total of 16 votes, and 9 is needed for an outright win. Name of Sharad Pawar is being raised by some, but chances are low that he will get BCCI approval this time. Another name that is doing the rounds is that of Brijesh Patel.

I think he's not eligible due to the Lodha committee reports and even if he forwards his name to BCCI (which is very unlikely), they can't forward his name (again, same reason Lodha committee). Also, he was removed from his last post for a reason and that's more than enough to keep him out for a lifetime.

I think this selection is going to be crucial for the future of cricket in general so I think the voting needs to be done in a correct manner to save cricket.

There are a total of 16 votes, and 9 is needed for an outright win. Name of Sharad Pawar is being raised by some, but chances are low that he will get BCCI approval this time. Another name that is doing the rounds is that of Brijesh Patel. I really want someone who is actually good and has some idea about cricket. Someone who is actually interested in making cricket a better game. If someone who just wants money is appointed I really don't think it is going to be good for cricket in the long run. Some ex-cricketers would have been better in my opinion. But I really don't see any EX cricketers interested in this matter. So, I think that they will have to work with what options they have. I really don't like Srinivasan either. Anyone else would be better.

And because of the power of this money, many are occupying worthy places without being qualified. Naturally, this is a malpractice that will become more dangerous in the future. Those who are cricket players should take that responsibility but no one wants to take that responsibility from abominable people.

IDK why Srinivasan's name is popping in this thread.
I think he's not eligible due to the Lodha committee reports and even if he forwards his name to BCCI (which is very unlikely), they can't forward his name (again, same reason Lodha committee). Also, he was removed from his last post for a reason and that's more than enough to keep him out for a lifetime.
Check this: https://www.theweek.in/news/sports/2022/09/14/sc-ruling-on-bcci-will-srinivasan-return-ganguly-next-icc-president-questions-galore.htmlRumors are that Justice D.Y. Chandrachud has formalized a deal between the Ganguly-Shah camp and the Srinivasan-Pawar camp. As per the deal, the first cabal will get control of the BCCI and the latter will get control of the ICC. Chandrachud has allowed Ganguly and Shah to remain as BCCI officials for the next 3 years. In return he want them to support Srinivasan's nomination as the ICC chairman. There are three other people from India who are qualified for the post - Sharad Pawar, Anurag Thakur and Shashank Manohar. Pawar is not in good health, Thakur is a minister right now and Manohar is opposed by the BCCI. And that leaves the sole choice of Srinivasan (if BCCI is interested to have an Indian as the ICC chairman).

Okay, so as of now it's based on assumption only (as far as Srinivasan is concerned), right? I guess the representative will check the pros and cons of every candidate before nominating some names. So IMO it's way too early to panic. Also, let's wait for full judgment, there is still some time left. I think a new observation during the hearing came in favor of BCCI because of the flawed Lodha committee report (Cooling off period and nomination etc) and not some deal between 2 camps.

Money is important but sometime many star fades away and are forgotten by the world. This includes - star, players or any other famous personality - yesterday one of the umpire "Asad Raauf" passed away - he left his career because of his son. It was sad to see how he spent last days of his life.

There are only 4 eligible candidates from India, and there is a very good chance that BCCI may not nominate anyone this time (they did the same last time as well and supported Barclay for the post of chairman). BTW, Barclay has expressed some interest in getting himself re-nominated. If so, he will remain as the chairman until 2024. I don't really prefer Barclay, since he is from the businessmen cartel. I really want some of the ex-players. I don't have much expectation and don't think that they will turn things upside down. But having someone like Sangakkara as the chairman sounds exciting for me.

Because of money today the world can make you known to everyone and without this money you will have none .You can forget any person in a moment We remember the umpire who died yesterday with respect. The world has forgotten him, but we have not. We are deeply saddened by his death He will live on in every man who will remember him.

Surely a good and exciting change into game if we have ex player as ICC chairman and specially stated with gentleman like Kumara Sangakara is dream start as he is one of the best in his field with good knowledge and commitment about the game of cricket, but sadly it's not possible because right now system here in ICC is not working as we have in UEFA where few ex players are now joining this organization and its doing good. Right now in ICC game is just between few big players, and mostly they are having their own friendships and like & dislikes which are working so having businessman is not stoppable for anyone, but soon we will have good changes as right now Ganguly is having BCCI post which is good thing and Ramiz Raja is on PCB hopefully if here changes will happen more like these than ICC could be also in good for these changes.
