What Will it Take For BTC to Reach $1000?

Let's discuss.

It seems impossible. I believe the trend should be on upwards node. It is right now going downward since last so many months. Even as the bitcoin users are increasing and there are more number of bitcoin transactions, still it is going downward.

It actually might go up since the twins actually got something done, and launched their own exchange called gemini.

So who knows it`ll probably bring more new blood to pump up prices. I dont know about $1k though, maybe a $100 increase to be more realistic.
1402  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: June 17, 2015, 06:02:17 PM
I don't know how you come to that conclusion but It's far from being dead if you were to ask me. And talk about media interest, there has been an active discussion going on news site not specifically onto btc alone. And the news site won't certainly write about the topic if there's no interest whatsoever in it.

http://blogs.wsj.com/briefly/2015/03/04/the-future-of-bitcoin-the-readers-weigh-in-at-a-glance/
http://www.cnbc.com/id/102476273

I understand how the media attention has dropped, it always does. Its hard to be in the news everyday. I find bitcoin to be very interesting. Yes, there are a couple frauds happening everyday but I think that the more bitcoin users strengthen as a community, the better security will get. I recently read a post about ending the transaction with a signature certificate and I feel that's awesome. New things are discovered everyday and it will all shape better in the end.

The media only wants the juicy stuff. Gmaxwell making an awesome video on the amazing possibilities of sidechains will not make them sell newspapers, but putting "this guy running a deep web market that ran under Bitcoin" or something along the lines will raise eyebrows and keep the casuals interested.

Well its the medias business model, so they cant really help it.

If nothing drastic to watch on the news, why watch it is what they pretty much think, or ground breaking etc. Its a platform how they see how the stories does when on air and track what works and what doesnt.
1403  Economy / Economics / Re: Technological unemployment is (almost) here on: June 17, 2015, 05:58:00 PM
You need to stop treating Milton Friedman as some sort of godsent know it all guy that defined the be all end all of economics. It's over. Repeat with me: It's over. Automation will reach a point of no return, where it will be simply unnecessary for the majority of people to work, because you'll have an higher quality of life accepting welfare/supply from the machines than trying to pick up a job, ANY job, even if it's unnecessary. No one will pay you to do an unnecessary job. Entrepreneurs are a minority. And the majority of workforce are simple tasks and those will be the first ones that disappear. There will be a time when we don't even need more machines, so "trying to compete with your own machines so to speak", will be just silly.

What we need to end this "the rich will own all the machines" bullshit is simply have decentralized, open source machines that supply people with what they need, and everyone is free to improve upon them. Automation and technology will make any monetary based system deprecated in the following 1000 years.

If we are still half retarded uneducated monkeys bashing each other in 1000 years, we'll be fucked.
You're definitely right and I agree. I do not understand how some of us see some weird magical world in 50 years. Anyone will rather spend a certain sum of money for a robot that is equal to a yearly payment of a worker. Probably event more, because after that point (you've reached ROI), you just pay for the electricity. At first there will be new jobs, indeed. There will be a larger demand for people putting those robots together, designing them and maintaining them, however only for a certain period of time.
Once we actually pass the Turing, there won't be a coming back. What happens when robots start maintaining and fixing other robots? What happens when robots start building robots?
The majority of jobs will be lost. I'm pretty sure that IT personnel, doctors and a few other titles will remain intact for a longer period of time.
However in the future, society needs to adapt. Working to survive will no longer be feasible.

Please don't go deeply into futuristic economies, that's rather for the speculation sub forum.

We all are deliusional at some levels, some maybe more drastic then others.

But, reaslitically 50 years? what about before we even get to 50 years lol. Theres so many events that can happen during the 50 years, and I can probably die from a car accident god forbid, but its realistic since most arent aware they can be gone before they can enjoy their bitcoin.
1404  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market Cycles on: June 17, 2015, 05:44:37 PM
If your not just day trading and are in bitcoin for long term buying at any price under $300 before the halving is a good move imo.

yes, good point. lot of friends of mine actually asking me "when is good time to buy" and I'm simply replaying..in long-term doesn't matter, if you will buy now at 250 or 220 or 270. Buy, HODL, thanks me later.

despite the obvious route, most actually still will wait until the price goes beserk sad to say.

most dont even know what halving does lol. Its like dude, harder to find + less block rewards should be a obvious statement on value.
1405  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gemini going live next week on: June 17, 2015, 05:39:39 PM
Hello.
What is Gemini? What will it provide of new?
I think nothing. Its just gonna be another exchange but there is hype around it because its founders, WinkleDee and WinkleDumb are somebodys (apparently).
Good grief, the amount of new accounts this numb nut makes is simply astonishing. I've been talking bitcoin to this one older dude (that day trades oil and gold futures w/ some other guy from NYC) that I work w/ for over a year and he's been long awaiting for the Winks to get Gemini up and running. There are legions of traders that are waiting for this kind of regulated exchange to get up so they can trade in bitcoin in relative safety. Plus, there's an aura/buzz around what these Winks are up to.

my day trader friend asked me the same thing the other day. most traders are actually want to know if theres a exchange that wont flop on them.

he asked me so hows anyone trading on bitcoin, and are you trading at all? I answered, nope cause you cant buy and sell like on think or swim putting in orders then getting out lol.
1406  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin isn’t the future of money — it’s either a Ponzi scheme on: June 17, 2015, 05:27:17 PM
Its a matter of how to go about this so-called ponzi scheme am I right?

Try to see it similar to how you would spend $20,000 a year going to college and pop up with a job. Thats a ponzi scheme as well too, it all varies on how your approach.

1407  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: June 17, 2015, 05:23:54 PM
Isn't it possible to share Netflix account with other people also ?

It is, although I'm not sure whether this applies for each kind of membership (there are multiple). I share the most expensive on with 4 friends; you can actually watch movies/series with 4 persons at the same time (so only 1 person cannot watch movies/series at the very same time as the rest does). And this only cost me like €2,xx per month.

Besides that, here on Bitcointalk véry cheap Netflix accounts are offered. Some of them might not be legally obtained though.. I decided to simply pay the €2,xx per month.

I just assumed that everyone is already doing whatever they can to earn more...

Well, not really. When I'm really in the need of money I do. I try to find other extra ways to make money (read: legally, and just "normal" ways to make money..) I will do work that is even far below my educational level. I've had a period in which I lost a part time job, and I had to work at a farm to cover all my costs. I made many hours (for a wage that was even less than half I was used to) but I liked it though Wink. It also made me loose some weight hehe.

Nowadays, I try to find an optimal balance between work and spare-time. I've got an extra job in which I can determine whether I want to work or not, when, and how many hours I will make. Works great Wink

If you ever check out the digital goods section, you usually see like 2-3 threads on netflix accounts, which are also trying to be given in the gambling section.

Not hard to pretty much to get a free online version like hulu plus, but netflix is very limited on shows.
1408  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase pump and dump again? Gemini this time? on: June 16, 2015, 06:03:24 PM
Wait for it to launch, then make your predictions..

Its like saying your girl is having a baby, and you already know its not yours... but little did you know its jerry springer since you didnt use a condom.

Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years?

All of them.

You need the entire network for your bitcoins to have value.

Or you can have the rest of us continue to hold bitcoin, so you dont have to buy the whole network.

This whole price of retirement is really based on what bitcoins transactions mainly used for, imo.
1410  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTS 10 trillion Zimbabwe dollars on: June 16, 2015, 05:58:33 PM
So why not match the price with ebay then?

The dollar has no value to you either way if you wanted to exchange that right? Its better to take a sale then having none.
1411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 0.005 BTC send + 0.0012 BTC fee ... why to much? explain please... on: June 16, 2015, 05:55:47 PM
Just letting you know that custom function is on most wallets.

Its also on the desktop wallets like btc-qt - click custom then set the amount to zero. It not completely zero now, but it`ll take almost next to nothing to send the btc and there isnt that much delay either which is the sad part.

1412  Economy / Speculation / Re: After corrections, Bitcoin is now ready to go to $1777! on: June 16, 2015, 05:53:20 PM
Damn, you got some crazy predictions.

Decline from to $200ish and holding 1 month mid $200ish, and expect to go nearly $2k? its a bit naive thinking unless you expect a huge volume from gemini the twins exchange doing something.
1413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Forget about Faucets - share your own Videos and stuff for BTC / BitTorrent... on: June 16, 2015, 05:47:16 PM
Thats great.. but wheres your link?

You should provide the link on the thread, just less work for people who dont really want to see the video. Just my 2 cents.
1414  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lift off!!!? on: June 16, 2015, 05:40:09 PM
I wouldnt expect gemini pump and dump right off the bat.

Why would they build their rep in the bitcoin space, then do that? it would be a shame, cause if they do then we can expect similar to the etf if it did pass.
1415  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gemini going live next week on: June 16, 2015, 05:33:05 PM
Its about fucken time. Its good to see these twins get 1 thing done out of the way.

Hopefully the etf is around the corner too?  Smiley
1416  Economy / Speculation / Re: [CHART] will BTC price hit $450 on November this year ? on: June 16, 2015, 05:28:21 PM
Yes, $450 will happen.

Just think really hard, and maybe the btc gods will say yes, we`ll grant you your price point. Realistic events  need to happen for any real solid prices points, you can see that. But, it just be like other wish washy events nothing ground breaking.
1417  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: June 16, 2015, 05:24:54 PM
Earn 1 btc a year, by getting a normal job.

And when you buy cheap btc, bet 1 btc one time on a dice site. If youre lucky, then get 1btc, if not then at least you got your job.  Cheesy
1418  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best point in time to cash out the Bitcoins? on: June 16, 2015, 05:19:14 PM
all you need is a time machine, go back to Jan 2014 I believe!

yeah get me one of those too, cause ill re-run that machine everyday lol.

if we all had that ability we`d abuse it so quick. the cashout periods are less expected.
1419  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many bitcoins do I need to retire in 20 years? on: June 16, 2015, 05:17:01 PM
Prices are too low to afford decent groceries.

If you produce .5 a week, then yeah maybe, anything lower good luck. The minimum average living expense is what you need to think of while those 20 years lol.

At the current rate of course..
1420  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: June 16, 2015, 05:10:23 PM
Yes, signature campaigns and avatar campaigns are a great way.  Trading altcoins is also another great way to make profit just make sure you don't get too greedy and lose it all, it's easily done.

People mention its a great way for most starting out, but eventually you`ll notice that it takes a toll on you.

Not only that, its really time consuming unless its something really temporary work.
